[PRP] Among the Lily Flowers (Terms of Dear x Flower Storm)

Terms of Endearment was taking an afternoon for himself, away from family and his usual ‘duties’ of gathering interesting tokens from around the swamp (though it was likely he would still find one or two things to bring home). He was walking towards a lovely area he’d only recently stumbled upon in his travels, a quiet little piece of paradise he was happy to now know existed. It was a lovely lily pond, beyond a few hills from a well-worn path and tucked amongst a number of surrounding trees. There was always life in the swamp, of course, and it was not unusual to find a nice body of water, but lilies seemed to be picky in their choice of environments. He found them particularly lovely, however, and had decided to make a point of finding this spot again.

He crested the last hill, and at the sight of the lilies below anyone observing could have seen the muscles in his face relax instantly. Who knew what it was about the simple floating flower that attracted and eased him so. He was not terribly interested in over-analysing it, preferring to enjoy it as much as possible instead. He made his way down the hill to the pond, picking up speed near the bottom and nearly launching himself into the water -- but he held back. He didn’t want to harm the lovely flowers in his excitement. He slowed his approach and eased himself into one shallow end, carefully picking his way through the leaves reaching for surface sunlight.

As he settled in, he sighed and nosed a small lily. It swung away on its tether, then floated back towards him. He dunked his head beneath the surface, lowering to completely submerge himself, staying for a few prolonged seconds before resurfacing. He shook out his hair and tilted his head back towards the sunlight. This was the relaxation he needed.

Storm flower was wandering, not really sure where she was going but knowing she just had to turn around to get back. It was starting to turn crisp and a bit chilled. She gave a soft noise, tail swishing as she continued and paused, ears twitching forward.

She moved carefully smelling fresh water, and something lighter and there was a trail? Who had came here so often to leave a trail? "Hello," She called. "Is someone down there?" She could hear splashing.

Terms of Endearment had spent a decent while in the pond by the time another kin had come along. The sun that had once warmed his face was inching ever closer towards the horizon, and soon enough he would be left in dark with a chill on the air. Begrudgingly, he decided that it was probably time to leave the pond and begin trying to do dry off and warm up before heading home.

This, of course, was a bit of a noisy process as he tried to extricate himself from the lilies reaching all around him. He had to pick his way through, at least once tripping over an unseen lily stalk, and another time just tripping over his own feet. He blamed it on his relaxed muscles and recovered, glad that he was alone and had not embarrassed himself.

Of course, that was only because he had not heard Flower Storm above him. He could not even hear his own splashing, had never heard anything, being deaf from birth. Thus, he could not respond to her call from above, though he would have if he had known she was inquiring after him… Instead, he did his best to shake the water off of his coat and out of his hair so he could hopefully lessen the time he would need to dry. He looked around and saw that the sun was still shining up on the hill he had come down, so he figured that would probably be a good place to lay out and dry until the sun officially left him. With that decision, he began the small hike up the hill.
