=>Take Conveyor 12
You get into line and eventually step into Conveyor 12, a small room lit by powerful green light strips. The door slides closed behind you, and a light set into the wall over it flicks red. The room starts to rise slowly, but eventually picks up speed. After at least ten minutes of rumbling, the light above the door flicks yellow, then green, and it slides open.
The room outside seems like a cross between a departures lounge and canteen. All the trolls hanging around are in military uniform, and if you don't have one, a sign directs you towards a quartermaster who sits behind a desk and hands over uniforms for first-timers. Changing rooms are down a corridor, along with a small gymnasium, dormitories, a medics office, and a private officers lounge. The energy in the room is laid back, with a certain edge of excitement. Most of the trolls milling around have never been off the planet, and the amount of older trolls not behind a desk or otherwise in a position of authority can be counted on one hand.

New military trolls:
After you've had some time to look around and get settled, a sleepy looking orangeblood officer with a clipboard approaches you. "Good to have you with us, soldier. Here's what you need to know. We've got a lot of spaceships just floating around Alternia, with no power and no way to determine if they're working or not. The junkers will be shot down from the planet, but the ones that are still functional will be powered up and reclaimed for future use."
One hand waves towards a side passage out of the canteen. The words 'Docking Area' are deeply embedded up the side of the wall on either side of the door. "Your assignment is simple. We will be receiving reports of which ships need boarding for closer examination. Then we'll be sending out teams, that means trolls like you, to board those ships, find the control room, and contact headquarters for further instructions."
Tapping the clipboard, they look you over. Their expression is fairly inscrutable, but you get the vague impression that they've seen better signs. "Of course, we're not just throwing trolls out into space in a disorganised mess. You'll need to have an lieutenant to report back to. You'll be notified when you've been given one. They'll be selecting you, so try and make a good impression, hmm? When you've been assigned your commanding officer, finish picking up your uniform and whatever else you need. Then wait for the announcement to head to the docking area." Giving you a nod, they shuffle off to another troll fresh off the elevator.
Promoted trolls:
If you have been promoted by Regina in the past or have received a letter recently. (See post below)
After you've had some time to look around and get settled, a sleepy looking orangeblood officer comes up to you. Tapping a finger to their head in a relaxed salute, they lower their voice and speak to you quietly. "Welcome lieutenant. If you'd come with me?" Leading you to a locked door, they let you through into a medium sized office, then closing the door behind them, they sit down in a chair behind the desk, and wave you to sit down in the opposing chair.
"Thank you. We'll be shipping out a massive amount of volunteers and military trolls into the ship-belt surrounding the planet during this operation. While we encourage you to get out and lead a team of trolls yourself, we also need you to take some leadership responsibilities back here on-base. We'll be posting new recruit information in the officers lounge as they come in, and it's your job to grab the ones you want working under you. If you get good trolls, they'll make you look good. Or if you can put some shine on a few dung piles, that'll be a positive note on your record." Digging in their desk, they pull out a small package with your name on it. Sliding it across the desk, they give you time to open it up and have a look at the contents. Inside is a shiney new pin to mark your upgraded station.
When you've finished inspecting the contents, the orangeblood clears their throat until they have your attention. "Here's the overview of what we'll be doing. First there'll be a speech from the empress. No idea what about. After, we will begin to launch teams out from the pod bay we've got built. While we know a bunch of ships can just be detonated - outdated, too damaged, whatever - we have others that we don't know the state of. We don't want to destroy ships that can still be used, so we need teams to go in and asses their state, then either detonate them, or wire in our helmsmen so we can get control of them. Teams will be formed as and when we get requests coming in. Ideally this is a time for recruits to find out what other trolls they work well with in a hostile environment."
Tapping their fingers on the desk in front of them, they look around the room once. "We've done some initial scans and recon, and there's heavy undead activity on all the ships. Seems like once they get into space, daywalkers are active all hours of the night. We're also interested in making sure no trolls get ... sticky fingers while they're on the ship. There's a lot of classified military information floating about that does not need to be in civilian hands. Team leaders should be handing over all documents found, keyword should. It'll be your job as lieutenant to touch base with trolls under you who took leadership positions. You should find out how their missions went, what they brought back, and ensure that it's been handed over. Also ..." Rubbing their hands together slowly, the orangeblood sighs. "... of course, we have civilian volunteers. The 'Temporary Outreach Corps'." The disapproval is visible on their face and in their voice. "We will be allowing them to lead teams of their own, but they will also be under your jurisdiction. Don't put up with any backtalk from them. I think that's all, unless you have questions?"
If you have questions for the orangeblood, quote the mule with them. Once you are done, feel free to leave the office!
OOC:
Congratulations! You've been given responsibility and the position of lieutenant. If your troll would rather not, they don't have to take any trolls under them, but it will not look good on their permanent record, and they will be demoted to corporal.
To take a troll, simply monitor the main space tower thread. Once someone signs up with a new troll using the Military Recruitment Request, quote them with the name of your lieutenant troll to claim them. If, once everyone has signed up, there are trolls remaining, and you have less trolls under you than other lieutenants, you will be given the remaining trolls until you are at an equal amount. The rest will be distributed to keep things even. Again, if you have not taken any trolls by this point, your troll will be demoted to corporal at this point.
As a lieutenant, your troll has been given a small-ish temporary office in the warren of corridors that link the army and temporary outreach barracks. This is where trolls under them should come to report in. To create their office, start a new thread in the main subforum entitled =>[META] Trollname's Office. If you would like to use a template, feel free to take the npc lieutenant's office. The first post can be a description of them in their office and should also contain the following text. This thread needs to be up by the time ships start opening for exploration, using official meta dates.
Your troll can, during this meta, promote any troll that is a corporal to Sergeant (rank 3). The performance of any trolls promoted by a lieutenant reflects on their own record. A troll who is promoted to seargent is immediately claimed by the lieutenant that promoted them, if it is not the same. Please post all promotions given in the main space tower thread. Sergeants can be reported to in replace of their lieutenant, and can start a temporary office thread as well. In their office thread they should also include the following text.

After you get comfortable and find your bearings, you can probably head back down to the bottom of the space tower, should you want to go out and stretch your legs. Just be sure to come back!
If you'd like, you can also stroll through the corridors until you find one of the private offices scattered about in the hallways.
