The weather hadn’t let up for weeks now, and with less news from any superiors, Melvin grew more and more anxious with each inch of rain that came. There were more attacks, repairs were postponed in some cases due to weather let alone his own hopes to start construction on his home, and the infirmary had cases of hunters being injured by water golems.

Something had to be done, and information had be given out to gather help. He needed to seek out Atlantis as the person who founded it and lead Kim in there in the first place. He could only hope they would even let them in now. How could they even construct golems when the entire place closed down without runic energy? Was there an alternative security system triggered? If so, and if this was runic energy that needed it to run, maybe he could help close it down.

But it was too dangerous to go alone. He had walked the shores as best he could, but massive water golems patrolled the ocean and waves. Either they needed to go in with full force or a distraction to let them close enough to enter Atlantis.

Melvin sent out a text to all the hunters he knew with instructions for them to send them to others who wanted to help.

Quote:
Text:
I might know what’s causing this water golem problem, but I can’t hope to try and stop it on my own. Meet me at the common rooms at noon today to talk. Anyone is welcome. Be safe coming here. – Melvin

He sent a message to Kim too.
Quote:
We need to fix this. I won’t let them hurt you. If you don’t want to come, you don’t have to. We need to fix this. – Melvin

At that time, Melvin sat in a chair in the common room waiting. He could hear the rain falling from outside against the sides of the building and windows.

This is an ORP to discuss what to do about Atlantis and the water golem problem. If you have a character that would be interested in attending, have them post. This doesn’t mean they have to volunteer for anything dangerous or with potential consequences as of yet.

Jordan showed up a few minutes after noon, in uniform and looking serious. "Hey," he said in greeting. "You have new information about the water golems?" He pulled a chair over and turned it around to sit backwards on it, crossing his arms on the back of the chair.

Zeke arrived a moment or two after Jordan, and claimed a spot beside the Sun. Slouched and comfortable in his chair, but the expression on his face was anything but relaxed. He looked serious, attentive, and eager to get to the bottom of things. As much as he'd been tempted to study the golems when they'd first arrived, that desire had waned in the face of the continues onslaught of them, and more rain than the island had ever seen in his time there.

He could easily say, even after the island they'd all been washed up on, he missed the sun.

-----

She might have been new, but Soleil was getting pretty sick of the rain. She distinctly remembered there being a lot of talk about sun and heat, and a tropical ******** island, and this was not living up to the hype.

So, if there was a way to perhaps deal with those whole end of days rain thing, she was keen to help figure it out.

Nash was also there, sitting sideways on one of the couches with his legs draped over the armrest, looking bored.

Merric sat a short distance away in a regular chair, expression cautious.

Quite honestly, Sam had welcomed the rain for a while after washing back up on Deus. The dangers that came with it, however, had quickly become tedious. Granted, even if the meeting had been about the finer uses of minipet poop, she still would have attended out of sheer curiosity.

Parking by Merric, Sam remained standing and crossed her arms out of habit rather than from any emotional state. "Is that what they are?" she asked, overhearing Jordan but aiming the question at everyone there. "I didn't know others could use golems. How similar are they to the weapons and princess types?"

- - -

Dean skulked in and leaned against the wall, glancing at Soleil (so the profile picture did match, nice), then passing over Nash (who he had blatantly avoided sitting next to in an as yet unexplained bout of petulance) to just take in the room. He was annoyed about a variety of things lately, so he hoped this group up didn't take too long. He was itching to do something, and it wasn't really socialize right now.

"A golem traditionally is any lifeless construct given, well, life, for lack of a better word." Zeke answered, tipping his head so he could see her around the other trainee she was standing beside. "Be that 'life' sentient, autonomous, or a puppet." Broad shoulders came up in a shrug. "There are likely many other examples of this kind of thing in Halloween itself."

-----

Soliel was content to just quietly take in the conversation, as she watched those that were filling in. Some she recognized easily(Nash, and his ombre hair), some she didn't(the boy leaning against the wall). Idly she wondered if Luna was planning on making an appearance, then had to remind herself that Luna probably want even aware there was a meeting going on.

Merric offered Sam a brief smile, but didn't have time to greet her properly, a man turning around and answering the offered question before he could speak. He absently smoothed fingers along his vest, listening with a small frown on his face.

"What exactly does that entail?" he asked, head tilted. "How does one get 'put' into another body, that seems ludicrous."

Dean received a middle finger shot in his direction just because he could.

Pale eyes lifted to the well dressed trainee, and his brows arched as if he wasn't entirely sure he was asking in all seriousness. When it became apparent that he was, Zeke drew in a breath, shifted to sit up a little straighter in his chair, and answered. "Well for us it's a mix of runic technology and archaic magic bullshit. If you want a more detailed explanation than that you'll have to go find a hunter specializing in golems." With how strange everything else was, he'd never really stopped to question how to golems worked, and had just accepted that they had. Time on the island had provided a partial answer.

"For Halloween, I mean. They're made of Fear. Literal, magical creatures that can do any number of crazy s**t. Putting their consciousness into a puppet isn't that much of a stretch." He shrugged.

"I know what golems are," Sam said primly.

Dean rolled his eyes and flipped Nash the bird back.

She was naturally dissatisfied with just being give arcane bullshit as an answer--but then, this was someone from Mist. Of course they wouldn't have the full story.

"Who are the golem specialists?" Sam asked. "They're coming to this meeting, yes?"

"Forget all that." Dean's drawl carried through the room. "Why are they even attacking us? Is that, like, normal? Some faction war bullshit we should know about?"

He frowned at Jordan. "I had suspicions about something and feel that as this is continuing, this is the best bet of what it is given what I know. I'll talk about it once I feel it's good to start." He said with a deep breath and checking his phone for any response from Kim.

"Zeke is correct what golems are construct made of certain materials. I believe blood, mud, and fear as the essentials for the golems we have. There are other golem types that fall into a wide range of elements, but like all things of Halloween, the basic component is Fear like most things. I do not have a golem specialist here by request. A golem is just a puppet ordered by a higher force after all. As for normal, they are Fear creatures so attacking us could still be considered normal as Halloween generally does not like us but not normal for the island."

"I'll get into more of what I'm thinking here in a moment but if anyone has any information they might want to share about their encounters with the golems that might prove helpful or new then that is welcomed."

Ever was late, but he was there -- easing just through the door, quietly, and trying not to make too much noise that might interrupt the intense, serious conversation happening within the room. He breathed out slowly as he realized he hadn't missed anything important, but lingered still to lean against the wall and pass a slow look around, over heads on the couches and Zeke where he slouched to settle on Melvin instead.

Teaching, it seemed, was Melvin's real element. Or maybe just running things. He raised two fingers to catch his attention.

"The big guy on the beach didn't seem terribly...focused. It felt more of an instinctive attack than something planned and executed to me, don't you think?"

Joy managed to make it to the meeting, not really knowing if she had anything worthwhile to contribute besides an extra pair of arms. She was used to storms and flooding but that didn't mean she enjoyed it. She missed the sun and she missed being dry and she was ready to do whatever it took to fix the weather.

Waving at everyone present, Joy found a seat to listen.

------

Terry had an idea what caused the weather. Actually, Terry knew what had caused this whole mess and he was living with her. He only hoped Kim was making good with her promises of making things right. He really didn't want to lose the very first girlfriend he ever had.

Having got a message from both Melvin and Terry, Kim knew there was little she could do but actually head over and speak to the people, and let them know how it was her fault this was happening. She had tried to speak to Allan, she had even tried begging, but little was going to go on unless someone could really find out what was going to fix it.

Kim took a deep breath, and headed to where Melvin was holding the meeting, and quietly walked in. She made a point of first heading over to Terry and hugging him tight. It felt almost like a kind of goodbye. Then she moved over to where Melvin was and took a deep breath. "I came. I trust you will keep me from being pulled limb from limb."

She figured that after this she would go back and beg the tree some more. Little else she could really do at the moment. The legacy was not responding though.

"It will be fine. There isn't any point in harming you that will then fix this mess. I'll work to keep them focused and remind everyone of weapon rules if it comes to it but I don't think anyone will risk being podded to go after you. I''ll just tell them the facts as straight as I can. You can sit while I talk and include any vital information but if we are getting help then everyone needs a say as to what we can do now. It's past the point of what you and I can handle to fix this and it's too dangerous to ignore."

He chimed up. "I'll wait a few minutes longer and then I'll start so if everyone can get comfortable that would be great."

The persistent gloomy weather back on the island had left Oliver with many questions since he had returned, so when he got the text message about the water golems, he made time to attend the meeting. Even if he had nothing to add that could help the situation, it wouldn't hurt to gather what information he could, or possibly even help out.

As the group congregated in the common room, he migrated to where the familiar faces were and leaned against the back of a couch. Many in attendance were trainees. Oliver was impressed by their initiative, even now sometimes all he wanted to do when faced with a problem was hide.
