Chiara looked the place over. It was a pretty nice dayclub, had a good bartender, good location, and most importantly of all, hot patrons. And now it had a top-of-the-line, brand spanking new, dance battle stage. Chiara looked the stage over, pride in her smile. She had watched the thing get set up and installed, and she was happy with how it had gone down. The blueblood got up on stage, and pushed a few buttons, looking at how the lights came on and the music played, booming from the large, fancy stereos on each side of the stage. "Hey Degras!" Chiara called down from her spot on stage. Ephias had been doing the paperwork and managing the building of each of these dance battle stages, and Chiara was impressed by his work. "How about you get up here, and we try this thing out, huh?" Chiara winked, overly flirty, at the boy and poked a button, making the floor bounce to the beat of whatever song came on.

In the midst of a discussion regarding warranties and maintenance expenses with the contractor, Ephias heard Chiara call his name. The redblood tore his attention from the documents being offered to him. “Excuse me a moment,” he told the contractor. Turning, he glanced up towards Chiara on the stage. While he finalised payment, the blueblood entertained herself by inspecting the new equipment. Music blasted out of the speakers, and with the push of a button, the floor began to vibrate. She offered him a wink. Ephias only looked on, unfazed.

“I guess,” he replied to Chiara's request. He switched his gaze back to the contractor. Taking the pen and clipboard from the greenblood, he scrawled a quick signature along the bottom. “I'll contact you if we have any questions,” he said more quietly. He passed back the form for review. Then, before the greenblood could offer him a closing handshake, Ephias escaped to the stage. He ducked under the construction tape and hauled himself up onto the platform.

Once he stood on the arena, Ephias felt his knees buckle. From the ground the bouncing motion of the platform did not look like much, but on top he struggled to keep his balance. He widened his stance, and bent his knees to keep himself upright. Warily, he stared across at Chiara. “... Are you sure this is safe?” he asked. Structurally it was sound he knew, but he was not so certain about the well-being of the trolls who performed on it.

"Now were talking!" Chiara called as her redblooded assistant joined her on stage. This was part of setting up equipment, obviously. Show the customer just how great the dance battle stage was! She rolled her eyes as Ephias said something about safety, "Its fiiine! No ones ever died in a dance battle, you know that!" Chiara said, shaking her head. Sure, maybe a troll had bled out after a dance battle, but no one had ever died on stage.

"Incoming!" The blueblood called as she snapped her fingers and started up the fun. She aimed a kick at the redblood.

“At least not officially,” Ephias muttered under his breath. He had no chance to make any further rhetorts. The blueblood sprang towards him, swinging her leg. Ephias tried to take a step back to dodge the blow, but the quaking of the stage caused him to wobble. Instead he caught her boot in his stomach where he stood and fell onto his back. He grimaced from the floor.

“I'm not really a fan of fighting...” he explained. The stage continued to bounce beneath them. For the first time in a long while, Ephias was reminded of how utterly ridiculous Chiara's business and his own involvement in it was. Had he really been desensitised so much? No, now was not the time. His fingertips scraped across the floor as his hands braced. He focussed on the rhythm of the bouncing stage. “You know...” he began. He spoke slowly. “This could be considered a form of harrassment.”

There!

The stage heaved and Ephias used its momentum as a springboard to jump to his feet. He hurtled into the blueblood, grabbing her shoulders to pin her to the floor.

Chiara whooped as her hit connected with the redblood, a huge grin on her face. Then the redblood hit her back, hard, "Woah!" Chiara exclaimed, her eyes widening at Ephias's attack. She was on the floor, with him pinning her down. She took a second to catch her breath, and wrapped her arms around Ephias's neck, "Oh my, Degras, i never knew!" She said in a mock flirt, and bit his nose lightly. Really, it was all she could do, other then actually kiss him. She figured she would save that for later in the battle. Killing blows were best saved for last.

Ephias felt a wave of revulsion—an actual rush of nausea—as the blueblood wrapped her arms around his neck and squeezed his nose in her teeth. A shudder passed through him, like a ghost running its fingers down his spine. Ephias moved faster than he ever had in his life. He jerked back and scampered across the stage out of reach.

Staring at Chiara from a safe distance away, he opened his mouth to say something. A few seconds passed and no words came out. He closed his mouth and tried again. Same result.

Chiara raised an eyebrow at Ephias's reaction, and then could not help but laugh as he floundered to speak anything at all. "Speechless," Chiara said for him. "And not just you, lots of them." She said, tapping her foot to the beat of the music. "You woln't leave it there, right? You gotta have something to say, right?"

As he retreated, Ephias paid less attention to Chiara's mouth and more attention to her knees and feet. Her movements appeared to be in synch with the movement of the floor. Up then down; up then down...

He allowed himself to feel the beat, swaying in his upper body, before he tried bouncing. It was uncomfortable at first, and it felt as though he might fly off the mat, but it beat fighting for his balance every second. With some (amateur) mastery over the rig, Ephias returned his attention to Chiara. The blueblood grinned back at him, waiting for him to do something.

He was half-tempted just to exit the ring. He hated violence.

His eyes flickered up to the ceiling. Keeping his distance, he began to bounce in a circle around Chiara, forcing her to rotate with him. He had travelled about ninety degrees from his start point, when Chiara caught a face full of one of the stage lights. It was then that he made his move.

Ephias rushed in while she was blinded, hiting her once in the sternum and then once beneath the chin. He retreated almost immediately, arms raised in front of him.
