Lightseekers Settlement

This RP is open to all shop trolls. Trolls are not required to roll and may post as frequently as desired. Posts containing rolls must have at least two sentences of RP to be counted. If trolls interact with others and reach 500 words doing so, this RP can be counted for 1 RP point. Each roll does not (and likely should not) need to be a new day or long passage of time in character, and can simply be a new action that the troll takes any time after the previous action.

Nestled in the plains far to the southeast of New Hemisect is a quaint series of hives. Nondescript and unassuming at a distance, upon treading closer a leytroll can see that these hives are built in a specific communal format. A large swath of farmland is centralized within the confines of these hives, which are spread out generously in a circular pattern in a border of sorts. The multi-use buildings appear to be serving as a stables, community center, housing and agricultural storage.

Conveniently located as far as natural beauty goes, the small locale rests immediately next to a wooded area, with a small lake an hour’s riding distance and creek that eventually winds its way to the coast. Travel to the remote location is far off the beaten path, requiring personal transport down dirt roads and lacking immediate amenities that any major city would offer. However, the smaller communities of rural trolls can offer traditional supplies and support – friendliness and travel time permitting.

This series of dwellings is the home base of the Lightseekers, constructed by the few industrious adult survivors of the recent Spaceship crash in Four Fronds. Seeking respite from a new Alternian era, they are joined by Panili Synemn in order to promote a grassroots cause focusing on self-reliance and redefining the nature of troll society.

From the Factions & Organizations Thread
Lightseekers
Faction
“Strive To Elevate Our Nature
Strive For Independence
Strive For A Brighter Future“

The Lightseekers is an alliance of trolls run by Panili Synemn, seeking to promote the betterment of Alternia through the challenging of the traditional Alternian Lifestyle. The three basic tenants of the group are the foundation of their activities.

…Elevate Our Nature: Acts of violence and barbarism are ingrained in Alternian society and are intended to keep the population subservient and incapable of progress. Hostility destroys the bonds between individuals and senseless acts of brutality lower trolls to the level of simple animals. To this end, the Lightseekers seek to offer non-violent solutions to issues and provide progressive outlets to redirect the unsavory tendencies that trolls are burdened with. Counseling, labor and charity work are a few examples of this type of work.
…Independence: Being fully aware of the Alternian system at large, the Lightseekers aim to form a solid foundation of self-reliant living in order to step away from the roots of Alternian ills perpetuated by the government. Working together to create infrastructure without the assistance of drones and learning to live off the land is an incredibly valuable skill for any adaptable troll, and within the Lightseekers is imperative for a solid community. A focus on the appreciation and preservation of the natural environment and life is often a fundamental part of Lightseeker activities.
…A Brighter Future: Discussion and philosophy are important, but action is the key to a movement. Putting the ideals of the Lightseekers into place to secure the safety and wholesomeness of the troll race is an integral part of the Lightseekers’ agenda. Whether it is by staying active in the community, spreading the word or making oneself an example, it is important to remain ardent but humble in one’s task. With the inevitability of space travel on the horizon, the Lightseekers hope to redirect the path of the Alternian space directive to focus on the non-destructive expansion of the Alternian race – seeking knowledge and unity rather than power and dominance.

As of now, membership is small with a recently established headquarters in the plains outside of New Hemisect. She is joined by the few members of an Alternian space crew that crash landed recently, and who have stuck to her since her correctly prophesized fears concerning the Civisect and Chittentown Space Ladders.

Benefits: A feeling of worth, access to information concerning worldly news, a chance to start at the beginning of a newly formed organization, low-key, grassroots foundation = relatively new and under the radar, casual participation accepted
Drawbacks: Humble funding & participation, punishments for violent actions towards others, potential for royalist scrutiny
Blacklist: N/A – groups promoting wanton violence are frowned upon
Whitelist: N/A
Recruitment: Open! PM Sypon for details.

Welcome to our Home!

The settlement has been officially completed! These intrepid trolls have created a jewel on Alternia. Self-sustaining and aesthetically unique, it sits in the plains of New Hemisect like a miniature city. In fact, it has attracted many residents - primarily lowbloods - seeking a better home. Prejudice and violence is at a low in the settlement, but Panili refuses to call it a utopia. While the settlement's construction is complete, trolls are still a work in progress!

There are many locations of note within the Lightseekers Settlement. The crown-jewel of it all is the town hall and community center, along with the square.

Sparkling like a gem, it boasts glass planes set to convert Alternia’s harsh sunlight into energy. The light that filters into the town-hall reflects like a cool, slow-moving tide. It mirrors Panili's geometric, practical home but with an artistic style that is further enhanced by the aesthetics of Pre-Reginian technology. This bit of culture from the space crew is unusual and dated, but gives a bit of rustic flair to the space. It's a large space with huge tables and plenty of room for town meetings. The square itself is also large, and has a grassy area to host green shows and general mingling between community members. Many murals can be found around the community area, featuring scenes such as a wolf eating a multi-colored moon and one simply signed "Thank you CM". There are a few prominent statues in the community square area, one being of Tsarzi Ameroc's lusus erected near a plaque thanking her for her extraordinary contributions.

The research lab is a place where data is collected from any of the processes around the settlement. Whether it be agricultural or based upon Alternia's planetary and atmospheric information, this lab is of utmost importance. It is also well secured, given that chemicals and important data are stored here. Shenso and Loulah generally spend their time in here, poring over data and robotics. If you need them, you're likely to find them in the lab.

Storage and Equipment blocks are found throughout the city, ranging from large sheds to warehouse sized buildings for farming, robotics and other equipment needed for nightly life.

Hive Blocks are also available! Able to sustain scores of trolls each, these blocks have become very popular. They are primarily connected and support community living with dorm recreational areas and shared respiteblocks. However, there are a few smaller attached hives that give more privacy - and even a few single hives. Panili herself and the space crew live in single-occupant hives near the community center.

A separate Lusus Quarters has been built, accommodating lusii from huge to practically microscopic. It leads into an enormous meadow, sectioned off into an underground cave-like section and an open section for grazing. The lusus quarters is also attached to something like a smaller biome for creatures with a need for more specific living space.

The Greenhouse is a huge, beautiful glass enclosure with regulated temperature and lighting scenarios for any climate. It's sectioned off into two vast eco-buildings, with two niche buildings for unique plants in between. The design is a mix of architectural and organic, and the overall smell and atmosphere is dreamlike - very fresh. It's a well needed breath of fresh air after a hard night's work! Exotic plants from all parts of Alternia can be housed here, as well as important crop for sustainable living.

The Lightseekers' produce intake has improved dramatically, with more consistency and reliability in growing crops sweep-round! In addition, sun-shades will allow for greater growth during the harsh daylight hours, and may encourage production of exciting and unique new buds and species. Crops for food as well as medicinal purposes can now be harvested! If your troll has an ailment, a question about any kind of flora or needs a specific plant to spice up their life, they're likely to find it here.

Barns, fields, compost and a pond allow for livestock to be raised and roam as well. Animal husbandry is a wide-sweeping job!

Finally, the Lightseekers have created a disaster shelter with the help of their intrepid volunteers. The shelter can hold all of the residents of the settlement for a few perigees, and is natural-disaster-proof. It was created in response to the alarming weather incidents, and has storage attached to it as well for other emergencies.

Roads connect the settlement to a nearby lake, and also head towards New Hemisect City proper and the coast. Finally, the settlement is easy to get to!

There's an odd sensation in the air as Tigwyn Ioyana is returned to the Lightseekers... How will this play out?

Quote:
This event has started in the form of an ORP in this thread. Other smaller PRPs will be available between Tigwyn, Panili and the rest of the spaceship crew to help Tigwyn re-acclimate to society and living.

Fellah had recently become aware of his new plains neighbors, and as such had tried to poke his head by when he had the chance with a neighborly greeting and plenty of produce baskets from his farm. While the redblood was still fairly in the dark about who most of these trolls were, it looked like the building project they had slated out for themselves was rather daunting. Having a naturally generous nature, Fellah was happy to lend a hand with some of the heavy work.
It looked like they needed some assistance with their animals, and Fellah was no stranger to farm critters. While it took him a bit to familiarize himself with them, he managed to get a decent amount done.

After making sure the critters were in good shape and their feed troughs full, Fellah decided to lend a nub to some of the grander projects. Keeping up with his current theme of non-troll care, the redblood spotted the lusus quarters in progress. Picking up a tool belt he got to work, feeling like he was indeed helping more than hindering so far.

Sephos managed to find a lull in his long, hard, nights - long enough to pay a visit to the Lightseeker's settlement. Hoping to run into Panili, Sephos quickly found himself roped into tasks... not that he actually minded. Being busy was a state of being, and the task that he was assigned to was one that he knew well enough - how to build a greenhouse. He'd built them before, after all. And, clearly, he would be building them again.

He'd been let off from the greenhouse work, calling it a night where building was concerned to walk through the fields and see what was what here. Hands in overalls, he surveyed the fields, stopping to look at a plant or two on the way.

As he did, however, he noticed a building that had weathered a windstorm - one of the ones he had heard occasionally struck the plains. It was only a little bit of damage, but it was of the sort that he knew ought to be patched up right away.

So, being Sephos, he did so - without asking permission, without question. He just did it, he checked it, and he moved on, satisfied with himself...

After working on the Lusus quarters for a fair while, Fellah decided to make his way back over to the animals. The redblood noticed that there was a staple grain missing from some of the feed. Having made special feed plenty of times he quickly did his best to balance the grains.

Finishing up with the animals again, Fellah decided to try and help work on the shelter. It seemed like a rather important project after all. Though as the farmtroll tried to get some solid work done he couldn't stop yawning. After a bit he decided it was time for lunch. Better to be fully energized and give it your all then work on fumes and make a sub par contribution.

After lunch and a good boost of energy, Fellah stretched out and got himself back to work. He decided to go check up on the animals again, feeding some of the more friendly creatures his scraps. After greeting them again, the redblood started to muck out the pens. Not the most glorious job, but important none the less.

The Lusus quarters still needed a lot of work, unfortunately for Fellah he started working on the area he thought he left off on. Only after he'd undone some of the work did he realize something was up. Apparently he didn't have his head screwed on straight that night. Fixing what he undid, Fellah struggled to keep up, but got a little done.

After taking a break to look over some plans, and make sure he didn't make the same mistake as last time, Fellah decided it would be best to add a little charm to the settlement. The farmtroll went about sprucing up some of the buildings appearances, adding a little country charm where he could. This wasn't too hard for the redblood, he even lent a nub to a couple other trolls while he was at it.

Determined to show he is capable, Fellah returned to the Lusus quarters to try and get some solid work done. Rolling up his sleeves, the redblood dove back into the project with gusto.
Unfortunately for him, Fellah had no better luck than last time.

Sephos Arbola

Sephos was aiming to help with some of the plantings in the area, but he got pulled into construction again instead. Sephos bristled, but the act of creation was good - it reminded him of the Space Tower, and of the good he had done. He would not forget that random flowers seemed to do wonders.

However, that was not what he did here - instead, he lifted and placed, muscles aching in the soft moonlight. A troll he recognized was also working here, and Sephos stared at him for a moment before shrugging. He knew him from somewhere. So be it.

Sephos Arbola

Apparently, the building next door needed some work done, and so Sephos was there to work on it. He didn't like the materials he was working with - too much stone for his liking - but it was sturdy, at least. Sturdy survived the day.

But really, wood was sturdy enough, wasn't it?

Fellah seemed to still be a bit off his game. When he tried to go help with some repairs, he wound up dropping every tool imaginable on his feet. He decided maybe just helping out at one more project for the night before turning in.
