Welcome to the Tropical Safari Zone! At the Safari Zone we have begun to hold capture contests! As the name implies it is a contest to see who can catch the biggest, rarest Pokemon out there! The contest is simple, in the Safari Zone you will find many different kinds of Pokemon, from all over the world in fact! We give participants three Safari Balls to use and attempt to capture the best Pokemon they can, or you can use any three Pokeballs of their own, if you do, we do not give you any Safari Balls. [You may use one of yours and two of ours and so forth. You are only allowed to use three Pokeballs total.] You are allowed to take just one of your own Pokemon into the park to use to weaken a wild Pokemon for capture, so don't let it get knocked out! Pokemon are judged on their quality, rarity, and how well the capture was roleplayed. So are you interested? Then sign up, take your Safari Balls, and hit the grass and find the best Pokemon you can!

Also, the Pokemon available is always different. The zone we'll be hunting in this time is the Isolated Island Zone! An isolated tropical island located between Kanto and Alola populated by a mix of Pokemon from both regions due to shipwrecks and it once being used as a rest port.

How to Participate:

The rules for the Safari Contest are simple. Pick one Pokemon to use in the contest, and when you post your character looking for a Pokemon use the random number generator to find out what Pokemon your character finds. Set the lowest number to 1 and the highest to 100 for the main area and 1 to 50 for the side areas. Once your post goes through, check to see what number you got, then, look at the list of available Pokemon, at the bottom of this post, to see what Pokemon appeared.

Then, in your next post once the Pokemon has been decided, begin battling it all in one post. But before you post your battle, use the Random Number generator again to see if the capture was successful, setting the lowest to 1 and the highest to 10, however, different Pokeballs have different success rates depending on what Pokemon or area you are using them on/in. Consult the list below to see what Pokeballs benefit this area.

----------

[Safari Ball] 50% Success Rate on any Pokemon.

[Pokeball] 50% Success Rate on any Pokemon.

[Great Ball] 60% Success Rate on any Pokemon.

[Ultra Ball] 70% Success Rate on any Pokemon.

[Net Ball] 70% Success Rate on Bug and Water type Pokemon, 50% on all others.

[Dive Ball] 70% Success Rate on Water type Pokemon, 50% on all others.

[Dusk Ball] 70% Success Rate on Pokemon found in caves, 50% on anything else.

[Nest Ball] 70% Success Rate if Pokemon is a lower stage than your own Pokemon.

[Quick Ball] 80% Success Rate on your first Pokemon encountered only, 50% on all consecutive.

[Timer Ball] 80% Success Rate if it's your last Pokeball only, 50% on any prior.

[Repeat Ball] 80% Success Rate on a Pokemon if you encountered the Pokemon in your previous post, 50% if not.

[Heal Ball] 80% Success Rate on a Pokemon if you failed to capture it once already, 50% if not.

[Luxury Ball] 80% Success Rate on a Pokemon that evolves with happiness.

[Fast Ball] 80% Success Rate on a fast Pokemon.

[Heavy Ball] 80% Success Rate on a heavy Pokemon.

[Level Ball] 80% Success Rate on a first stage Pokemon (Grubbin, Yungoos, etc.), 50% on all others.

[Love Ball] 80% Success Rate on a Pokemon with only a single gender, 50% on all others.

[Lure Ball] 80% Success Rate on a Pokemon fished out of the water.

[Friend Ball] 80% Success Rate on a Pokemon that evolves with happiness.

For success rates of 50%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

For success rates of 60%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6

For success rates of 70%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7

For success rates of 80%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8

For success rates of 90%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9

----------

As long as you still have Pokeballs you may continue to hunt and capture Pokemon until you get one you are comfortable with. If you catch a Pokemon, but then choose to catch another, you must release the first Pokemon you caught before keeping the second. Once you run out of Pokeballs your time is up and the Pokemon you last caught will be the one judged.

When everyone is done (a specified time will be given when the contest will end, regardless if others are done) all Pokemon caught will be judged. Each Pokemon will be judged individually in separate posts where a random number will be used to judge their quality, between 1 and 5 and the number it lands on will be its quality. The other stat taken into consideration is the Pokemon's rarity, its species. A rather common Pokemon like Grubbin won't give as much points as a Pokemon like Froakie would give much more. However, with quality, a Grubbin could beat out a Froakie.

Contestant Prizes:

Prizes will be given out to the top three contestants. The top three are allowed to either keep the Pokemon they caught, or take a prize of Snag Coins. The first place contestant may keep both the Pokemon and take the Snag Coins, if he/she so chooses to do so. Note, that the Pokemon still counts towards your rank limit.

1st place prize: 20 Snag Coins and one Snag Emblem OR 20 Snag Coins and a Pokemon Egg from Alola!

2nd place prize: 20 Snag Coins

3rd place prize: 15 Snag Coins

All participants who did not place receive 5 Gengar Tokens as a consolation prize as well as their captured Pokemon. Gengar Tokens can be spent at the casino located in the Snag Mall.

Also, if you use a Pokemon that's not fully evolved that Pokemon will earn Evolution Points at the end of the contest depending on how many Pokemon it knocked out. Posts that are incredibly short (Pikachu used Thundershock and knocked out the Poliwag.) won't be counted. But that doesn't mean they all have to be novels, just put in some effort. You can also gain Purification Points in the same way. Don't worry, the Safari Zone is protected by an Immunizer so no virus spreading here!

And that's it! Get out there and have fun!

"Go ahead," Keiko urged, practically pushing me onto the field.

"Why am I doing this again?" I asked, reluctant for some unknown reason.

"I've done like three or four of these things so far. It's where I got Aster, Cerberus, and Hera from. They're great for adding to your party."

"Alright, I'm going," I told her, feeling weird about being pushed into this even though being given the opportunity to add to my roster made all kinds of sense.

"Three Safari Balls to this gentleman, please!" Keiko grinned widely before the Safari balls were placed in my hands.

Mere seconds later, I was wandering the island by myself.

"The hell is this?" I asked, watching the Rattata as it scurried about. "The hell happened to this Rattata!?"

Regardless of it's mutated body, I wasn't interested in training a Rattata. Next.

"Go away," I told the Oricorio as it followed me. Dunno why I was acting so cranky when this was the opportunity for a free team member. Though I'd yet to find one that I felt was worthy.

"Finally, a Pokemon I recognize," I sighed as a male Nidoran crossed my path. "Sorry, but not interested in training you, either."

I walked away, looking for something decent.

"Get going, already!" Lykas insisted, following behind Odd, tentacles crossed in front of himself like an extra set of arms.

"Why?!" Odd questioned, trying to resist Lykas' urging. "What possible good would it do me to come out here and get lost on an deserted island?"

"I heard some rare Pokemon have been sighted out here recently. Ones people haven't seen or heard about in ages, if ever." Lykas responded, proceeding to push Odd on again. "Imagine how much money we could make the team if we catch one and do publicity shows or something like that."

"That's not really why we should be catching Pokemon, though." Odd countered, being shoved towards the counter in the only actual building he'd seen so far.

"Tough ~/~! Get going!" Lykas retored, shoving one last time and causing the channeler to stumble forward to the desk, where he was registered and handed three Safari Balls without him actually doing anything.

"I'm going fishing outside!" Lykas called back as he produced a very nice looking fishing rod from his pocket, extending it to it's full length as he tied a bobber to the line.

"Guess it's too late to back out now." Odd muttered as he took the Safari Balls he was offered and then paused for a moment. "Um....How'd you register me?"

"Guru...."

"Nevermind!" He yelped when presented with a large white ape, armed with what looked like a fan in one of it's human-like hands. What the hell was that?!

It didn't take him long after his quick escape to find himself near the beach, within eyesight of Lykas fishing by the entrance. Strange they'd leave this place unguarded like that but then again, the thing that took care of his registration was a good sign things here were a bit different than most places.

Deciding he may as well explore the shipwreck a bit, Odd entered the wreckage and almost immediately came face-to-face with a Gastly. "Not what I'd call rare but who knows, you might be in this part of the world. Still not my cup of tea, though. " He told it as he took a small jump backwards and released Entr'Acte the Honedge. He was still infected with the Shadow Virus, of course, but that was what Odd was here for, primarily. This place was isolated enough that if anything got infected, it shouldn't spread which meant that he could work on getting the thing out of his precious Pokemon's system. "Shadow Claw!" He called, watching as the Sword Pokemon's blade took on a black glow before it wound up and slashed at Gastly. The Gas Pokemon responded by throwing a fist of condensed, darkness-infused gases at him. Sucker Punch. Thankfully it didn't have the advantage of being tough enough to survive Entr'Acte's attack and it's gaseous body dissolved after the slash, leaving the aggressive blade both victorious and angry. Where was the challenge?!

Except Gastly wasn't done, yet. The gaseous Pokemon dissolving had all been a part of it's next attack. It reappeared right next to Entr'Acte, reforming into a solid entity in an instant, blasting Ghost energy from it's form into the Steel-type ghost's own body. "Gas!" It cried as it reformed, expecting the Honedge to flinch in fear. No such reaction came, however, as Entr'Acte infused his blade with Dark energy and wiped around with a Night Slash. This time, he was certain the other Ghost wouldn't return.

"The heck is this thing?" I asked when I locked eyes with the Jangmo-o.

"It's a Dragon-type," Rala told me telepathically. "It's been looking for a challenge."

Hearing that reminded me of Bagon, who I traded for Dan's... I couldn't remember whether it was an Aron or a Lairon, but I could remember it's name - Titan.

"I won't be as weak in training you," I promised the Jangmo-o. "Use Confusion, Rala."

"Shouldn't I use Fairy-type moves against it?" Rala asked.

"We want to catch it, not weaken it," I told her.

"Okay..." Rala said reluctantly, throwing warped Psychic energy at Jangmo-o. The dragon responded by roaring. But this didn't cause Rala to be pushed away. Instead, Rala seemed to be affected weirdly by it.

"Darn it," Rala growled before expelling Fairy energy everywhere.

"What did you do?" I asked, not recognizing the move.

"Misty Terrain," she explained. "Reduces dragon damage by half and nullifies status effects."

"So we can't inflict status effects on him, either." I retorted.

"I can't inflict status effects," Rala explained telepathically.

"Fair enough," I shrugged. I was about to ask her to use another move, but Jangmo-o jumped up and used Dragon Claw on her. Which of course, wasn't as effective.

Rala responded by picking the dragon up and kissing it, draining it's energy via Draining Kiss.

"What happened to weakening it?" I asked.

"Didn't want to get hurt too badly in the process," Rala said simply.

"Well, if you hit it with anything now, it's likely to faint," I sighed, pulling out a Snag Ball.

[Main Area - Island Forest]

Amaranth would end up transported here before she knew it, thanks to the team's resident Claydol. A cursory glance would happen in short order, if only to try and actually get her bearings straight in the odd place she and the others were at now.

I picked up the Safari ball with the Jangmo-o inside just before Rala teleported me back to Keiko.

"What'd you catch?" Keiko asked, smiling brightly.

"Some kind of dragon," I said simply.

"Ooh, cool!" Keiko reacted excitely. "Can't wait to see it!"

"So, what do we do now?" I asked.

"Wait for the judges," Keiko smiled. "You get cool stuff based on what you caught an how you caught it."

"Oh," I shrugged, turning to wait for the other contestants to finish.

Odd didn't have a chance to move again before he was presented with a new Pokemon, though he had to admit it didn't pose much of a challenge. So he recalled Entr'Acte and escaped before it could spot him. Choosing battles wisely and all that, after all.

Dan entered the fray, pokeball in hand and Pokemon at his side. He took in a deep breath before exhaling, taking in the scenery of the island forest. "It feels like ages since I've been in a Safari Contest" he remarked, feeling a little excited. It seemed every time he participated in one, he always managed to find a new dragon partner to add to his team. He expected no different from this venture! The Shelgon beside him, yawned, unsure why he had to walk around for this part. If he could have it his way, he'd find one of those tall trees back near the beach to lounge beneath. Fantasizing, the dragon was brought from his thoughts when he trainer called out. "There's something moving over there. Let's check it out, Shelgon" Dan grinned.
