Ri was a little tense as she waited. Eyes darting from the timed box, to the door. Finally some trolls burst through the door. She'd never been so happy to see complete strangers in her life.
"Well there's that," she pointed at what looked suspiciously like a bomb. "Now I don't know a whole lot about technology, but I know ticking, timers and wires aren't really a good thing," she said, trying to stay as calm as she could.

Forera travels UP.

Following Hemera's rushing, the newly energized Forera rushed after the tealblood with an aching body, clenching her teeth as she grit through the pain and forced herself to follow after her roomie. While the place had gone quiet, Forera couldn't help but feel it might've been a trap. She followed after her, alert, unsure. They ended up in a mystery room, and Forera couldn't help but feel relief. The teal blood's eye caught onto the tiny greenblooded witch from before, and an eyebrow flew up. Did she somehow teleport here? No, she wouldn't have known. She must've found out on her own. Impressive.

Forera was suddenly pulled out of her thoughts when the tealblood almost sagged to the floor. Having enough strength to catch her before she fell, the tealblood righted her up, looking around the room with curious eyes. They fell upon colored wires, nearby, ones Ri had mentioned. While she was thankful to see some companions of hers and more people already there, the tealblood was getting worried about the timer. Looking at Leeroi at his arrival, the tealblood kinda shrugged. "I think there're some wires over there, but we should be really careful. They look connected to the bomb." Forera murmured, hand fiddling with the piercings in her pocket nervously.

The beating must have done something to Sascha's brain. Even he couldn't believe he was still heading towards the heart of the building rather than out and away from the blast radius. Did he really think he'd be able to do something about this? Apparently he did. Sascha had already cheated death now multiple times in the name of this <********> laboratory. If all he could do was to chuck the bomb out the window, well dammit, he'd do exactly that!

Sascha barely noticed the lack of traps that had plagued him up until this point. It wasn't until he burst into the final room that he put two-and-two together. The other trolls had actually made it to the central hub and shut off the AI's generator. He slowed to a walk as he joined the small crowd milling about the only piece of equipment that still appeared fully functional.

"So that's the bomb?" Sascha announced, still surprised by how out-of-breath he sounded, despite having run the rest of the way up the tower. He caught his breath as he looked around the room for confirmation. He needed to know at least someone in the room was looking to at least try to do something about this mess.

He was relieved to see that most of the trolls he knew hadn't bit it on the way up. Even Forera. Maybe. Eh. Sascha gave a nod of acknowledgement to Hemera and Leeroi, but spared Akkira for obvious reasons.

"We've all been working on a goddamn space program these past few weeks--at least one of us has got to know a thing or two about explosives." Sascha was trying to sound optimistic, but came across as edgy, if not with the slightest tinge of hysteria.

Rastin Morden is CRAWLING UPWARD, SLOWLY. OH SO SLOWLY.

Rastin tugged himself up to his feet at the sound of a distant voice calling down from the top of the tower and dragged himself along the wall like a propped up corpse. He didn't know where the hell he was getting the energy to keep doing this s**t, but he figured it was probably stemming from a bank that he'd been storing from all those years he hadn't been out in troll society. He cursed himself, winced, and kept moving until he joined with a crowd of trolls heading into a single room.

"What the..." He muttered, looking across to where the bomb lay. "... You've got to be... I mean. Wh..."

His reaction trailed off, his eyes fixated forward, stunned and in utter disbelief. Who in their right mind would place a bomb here? Endanger countless lives? Destroy all the work that these people had done? He sucked a breath in and wiped at a tear forming in his eye. How could someone do this? Why? What did they gain from this?

"This... This is cruel." He wibbled, his voice no more than a whisper. "I don't understand. I don't want to understand. Why? Why do something like this?"

Kolako is moving UP.

As soon as the power went out, Kolako's body relaxed infinitely, stress sliding out of her body as she watched the defense system stop right before attacking her. Kolako looked to Nictor, game face on as they hurried over to where the ticking was, nervous as to what she'd find. Her eyes widened. Leeroi!! Hemera!! A ton of other trolls she didn't know but were okay!! Kolako found it in herself to squeal, running toward Leeroi and giving his legs a big hug. He was safe!! Hemera was safe!! Nictor was safe!!! This felt almost too good to be true. Papion watched from outside the door, obviously anxious, but with one glance Kolako was sure they'd be fine, at least until they found the bomb and someone found something out. With a quick hug to Hemera, the brownblood heard a tealblood nearby speak of colors. Colors?? Colors... "Colores!!" Kolako exclaimed, jumping up and down and looking at Hemera. She pointed at the wires and quickly walked up to it, pointing. "COLORS!" Kolako exclaimed, and the weight on her chest lifted immediately. "Mera, Mera, do you think...!!"

Etsali moves UP

"I'm only good at throwing them," Etsali pushed off the doorway to enter the room, leaving behind an orange smear that she paid no mind to. She was covered in enough of her own blood for it not to matter anymore, really, and a glance around showed she wasn't really the only one. It was amazing any of them had made it this far, but the troubles weren't done yet, she guessed. She patted Sascha's shoulder as she passed, tried for a reassuring smile that came on a little too sharp and pained. They didn't always come easy.

She came to a stop next to Forera, eyeing everyone else one more time before turning her attention at last to the bomb. All those colorful wires, and she didn't have a single clue what to do. Would Ephias have? Another thing that didn't matter right now, but she hoped Civisect had ended up with an easier time of it than Chittentown had. She was starting to think the desert was bad luck, honestly.

"There's still some time left," she murmured, then glanced back at Forera with a questioning tilt of her head. Could we still make it if we went back down? She didn't think she could, not alone, but if they all helped each other...

That. Hemera looked where Rianon pointed. Her breath caught in her throat. A display, counting down, was enough to tell her everything she needed to know. The real bomb. Not Civisect messing around, or a flimsy threat. It was real. And, a growing number of trolls were in the same room. No one would survive if it went off, she assumed. The tealblood swallowed.

A force lifted her, and with a quick check, Perore was there. "Thank you." she murmured, trying to stay on her feet.

Someone laughed behind her, and someone put force on her aching shoulder. She squeaked and turned her head. Pained annoyance softened a little.

"Furore! You made it!" Maybe because of jitters, maybe because of growing desperation, she hugged the blueblood. "I'm sorry I left you behind. There was no choice. Is Kolako with you? Err." She took a step back, staring at the prosthetic socket. "The...you that's still with us?"

She cleared her throat. What to do now. Mera glanced at the bomb again. She considered Forera's words. The wires! Colors. Colors! Hemera remembered her notes.

And, Sascha! The yellowblood was there. Oh, oh dear. That was a lot of trolls relying on her now, whether they knew it or not. She felt woozy again. However, his words gave her an out.

"I...I might have an idea." Mera swallowed again, mouth dry. She knelt down by the wires. Trolls kept coming in. Something had to be done soon. Now. Colors, colors, colors... She did her darndest to pull up what she saw on the message she gathered from the ciphers.

Yes. Okay. She had this. She pulled out her boomerang, which doubled as an ice pick with its pointed edges, and started cutting. Yellow. Red. Black. Green. Blue. That order.

A mad dash down the hallways, hard turns around each corner. Speedy when she remembered the way from before; slight hesitation when she didn't. This way? No, that was a dead end, wasn't it? Then up another flight of stairs! Running and running, forever. Tirelessly. Fortunately. Her health run had gone sour, but at least Luxara felt a little rejuvenated. Could I carry For if she collapsed? I can carry something Stagdad's weight, dead n' all. You'd think it'd be possible...

However, as she kept running, she didn't catch sight of either Etsali or Forera. No one else, either. Spooky. But- maybe an orange blood trail? If Etsali was up and moving again, she might cry with joy.

Somehow this affair had been harder than with OHC. And that had been hard.

Luxara soon skidded into the final room, breathing a sigh of relief to see a mass of trolls in there. She had no idea what might be going on, but it had to be important. She stepped in, trying to stay under the aloof guise of Ardais. But she scanned the faces and symbols. Searching, searching, searching...ah!

She swooced her way over to her still-standing friends, trying not to rush it. But, even so, as soon as she was close enough to Etsali, she touched her on the shoulder. "I'm so glad you're up and at 'em again." she said with a squeeze.

Then, Luxara turned to Forera. They fought through all of it, and even though Luxara had to leave her again, fail her again, she looked to be doing all right. Livelier than Etsali at least. A little less likely to break if hugged. So Luxara did just that, pulling Forera into a hug.

Honestly, screw whatever else was going on.

The counter on the box stops, then slowly dims. An almost imperceptible, high pitched whine emitting from the box dies as well.

Sephos watched quietly from the door, leaning on his crutch as the bomb - that was what it was, wasn't it- stopped making sounds and went dead. He clenched damaged teeth and swished some of the metallic-tasting blood in his mouth as he did, numb and tired and bruised.

It was done... but it wasn't over. This wasn't the beginning, either. The nightmares that happened when he didn't get in his slime were simply par for the course. This bomb... the groaning, labored movements of his lusus... they were all par for the course.

He looked at the trolls gathered there, at each one of them, at Rastin and the others... and turned around. "I want to go home." he said, leaning on the crutch and looking out at the corridor that lead out to the exit, trying not to cry. "Don't... want to be here no more."

MAHMUD and HARPOMMY GO UP

There was a beat of time where Mahmud just sat there and stared at his friend, silent, as he crouched on the fronts of this feet. Rastin was calling to him in the background. Despite knowing he'd have to reply, sooner or later, the boy was frozen solid in place. Was this it? Were these horns... was this what Poe was hiding all along? More baggage probably came along with it, but for the time being...

"Y-Yeah! We're good over here Rastin! We'll meet you up ahead!" Mahmud waved his hand towards the direction of Rastin's voice. "Please take care of yourself!" It was a bit rushed but clearly Poe wanted to keep this on the hush hush.

In a far quieter voice, Mahmud finally responded to Poe "I'm not mad." And he wasn't. For once, another troll lied to him and he wasn't mad. Instead there was a different feeling welling up inside him, a fizzy geyser of feeling that he couldn't quite place a word to. Instead of saying anything else, Mahmud did what few people ever got the privilege to experience: he gave Poe the biggest, tightest hug he could while sniffling his brains out. "I-I'm not... in a Poe-sition to judge. Ahahaha..." Great. Now he was starting to get all sappy, too. Before his eyes watered too much, Mahmud slipped the goggles back over Poe's eyes and then took his hands. "Y-you gotta tell me everything when we get outta here okay? Lets go just a little farther.

It took some time, given that Poe and Lanata were in pretty bad shape, but once Mahmud saw the outline of the teen that had saved him some time before he knew they would both be okay. "Rastin's nice. Rastin saved me... Oy! Rastin!" Before Poe could say yes or no, his little friend Mahmud dragged him along to the older boy... and stopped in his tracks when he saw what Rastin was staring at.

"A... A bomb?" There is a saying, a rather vulgar saying, that is none too polite but perfectly described his emotions at that moment: Mahmud's a*****e ran cold. There was something to be said about all the blood draining from his face, and staring at the wires. "..." This was like the movies, right? They'd have to cut one, right? If there was one thing he had learned from this ******** nightmare hellpit of a maze...he squeezed both boy's hands tightly.

Caiden heard a scream, not like a scared scream, but it wasn't a happy one either. The brownblood froze and grabbed his redblood companion's arm. "Di- did you hear that?" Caiden whispered as he looked all around, eyes wide. Then the sound of footsteps came crashing down behind him. The boy just did not know where to look! There were yells and loud noises everywhere. "AAAAHHH!" Caiden yelled, moving to latch himself onto his companion's leg. "What is all this?!"

Before much else could happen, Caiden saw Engrav and his lusus Morimom running down the hallway as well. "ENGRAV!!" Caiden yelled in relief and panic. He stood up and ran after the yellowblood. "Engrav wait!!"

Sascha whipped his attention to Etsali as she passed. He calmed down upon recognizing her. She was the one going to town on those construction bots with him. He was significantly lacking in his usual bravado, but returned the disingenuous smile nonetheless.

Hemera was the next to receive Sascha's attention as she brought herself to the forefront of the group. 'Might?' Sascha refrained from saying aloud. They needed all the confidence they could muster. He watched carefully as she approached the black box. His breath was held, but he made no motion to interrupt. It wasn't like she could make anything worse than it already was.

With impressively little hesitation Hemera slit the wires with her boomerang. The half second after felt like an eternity. Then the box went dark. Then silent.

"N-no... No way..." Just like that, it was over. Sascha felt if he breathed wrong the timer would kick up again. He looked back from the bomb to Hemera as though checking to see if she'd witnessed the same thing. All that to get to this point and they just turn the bomb off!

Sascha finally broke. He started laughing. Eventually he was doubled over with his hands on his (scraped, scalded, bleeding) knees. All the tension left Sascha in the form of loud, boisterous crowing. "NO ******** WAY! AHAHA!"

Though his eyebrows furrowed in confusion, Leeroi couldn't help but smile when Hemera grabbed him in a hug. He was a bit disappointed he couldn't react fast enough to hug her back. He settled for smiling like an idiot. "Kolako... She fell behind. I don't think her lusus could continue," he explained.

"And I'll be fine," he asserted, "If it were a real arm, you could be more concerned. I can fix this." He laughed softly. The phantom pain and the feedback hurt like hell, but nobody needed to know that but him.

Leeroi acknowledged Sascha with a grin and a quick nod. His attention was obviously on the bomb, focused on surveying the area for any kinds of traps or tricks. Sascha's words were not bitter, and Leeroi realized this, but it also wasn't helpful towards getting anything done. He turned his attention to the yellowblood.

"Sascha," Leeroi spoke, blunt but not angry. "Shut the ******** up. Mera's going to save us." Turning to Hemera, he smiled encouragingly. She could do this. And he was going to do everything he could to help. Then, he felt tiny tug at his legs. Looking down, he laughed at Kolako.

"Kid! You made it!" With his one good arm, he ruffled the brownblood's hair. He was so relieved to see that the kid was alive. "Is your lusus ok?" He asked, though he was fairly certain he would have to be if Kolako made it this far.

Leeroi turned back to Hemera and watched her work with anticipation, silence, and a small bit of pride. After the final wire was cut, and the whine stopped, Leeroi paused for a good minute before starting to speak. He looked at Hemera with an honest concern. "Is that it? Is it over?" He asked, hoping for a good answer.

Watching Sascha's celebration, Leeroi couldn't help but also get excited. Leaning down, he wrapped his arm around Kolako's legs and hoisted her up, cheering and laughing as he bounced her up and down. "******** YES!" He yelled. If only he had his other arm, he would have offered everyone a congratulatory hi-five.
