Reemus is going down!

Reemus was having a hell of a time. He had gotten up once, but after that...well, the pain train wouldn't stop! With no Voscil around, it was hard to keep going. Despite every time he tried, the yellowblood couldn't get himself up off the ground. He just wanted to nap, honestly, chucklevoodoos be damned.

A voice startled him awake from a hazy near-sleep. Someone going on about an evacuation. Had to go. Not enough time. Voscil.

Reemus slowly pushed himself up, bit by bit. He couldn't recall feeling so heavy before. It was a struggle to get to his knees, then, braced against a wall, pulling himself to his feet. Barely. The yellowblood pushed himself back the way he came, or what should be the way, though he wasn't picking up speed as fast as he would like.

Stairs were hell. Slow. He didn't have time for that. Instead, Reemus let himself tumble down. More pain, but he was used to it at this point. No other options. Harder to get up again after, but what could he do?

He grunted and whined as he continued.

Down a ways, once he made some progress, he could hear yelling. A pitch and voice he knew well. His awkward trudging picked up.Voscil Voscil Voscil! Before Reemus knew it, he was just about at a full sprint. Soon, like a train, he barreled into her with the intent of getting them both out.

HP: 8/20

Lorata had been trying her best to press on, using her partisan half as a walking stick, to give them all as best a chance as she could. All she had to do was find the bomb and deactivate it. Easy. Probably. She'd been too determined to get there to bother focusing on the details of how she'd do it. The sudden announcement, though, stopped her dead in her tracks. For a moment she could only stare at the blinking arrow in quiet horror, then she whirled and started running, nearly tripping over her own feet in her haste.

"Scorpa! Austri! Flydra!" Leaving the Sirens to rest while she moved on had been a hard decision, but leaving them to find their own way out of this was out of the question. She would not leave them behind. She'd carry all three of them if she had to, somehow. She would- she would get them out and then once they were all safe and sound, she would find Sarcel and tell her again how much she understood. "I'm coming! We need to move!"

Lorata is getting her Sirens and moving DOWN!

      ∞ Ephias Sagine

Ephias did not know how long he had been laying there before the monitor flickered on. Startled from his daze, he sat up. Scratching his head, he stared at the figure on screen, trying to process its words. Everything seemed distant and muddied. Everything was jumbled. He slapped the side of his head, as though to clear his sponge clots. He immediately regretted it as a ringing filled his skull and the world began to spin. Head in his hand, he waited for it to subside.

Eventually the world came to a standstill again. Over the fading ringing, he heard the voice again. The doctor... What was his name again? No, it didn't matter. The troll's words bounced around his thinkpan. Countdown, power, broken, time, now, time... time... evacuate. Ephias lurched to his feet, scattering the debris around him. Though his conscious self still failed to comprehend, his subconscious filled him with a sense of urgency.

Run, the depths warned him. RUN.

Quote:
Austri runs the hell DOWN!

The moment Austri heard the crackle and frazzle of the speakers coming to life was when an expression of nervousness and fear overtook her. The green blood's eyes slid toward a nearby screen as she watched the frazzled Doctor begin to explain the situation. When the screen became an arrow, the greenblood blinked, almost shocked. Everything hadn't quite yet gone through her head. It took a good few seconds, just staring at the neon arrow flashing before Austri could get anything done. She was lost in thought again, watching all her fantasies explode before her eyes, pump biscuit dropping to the floor as all of her dreams were crushed at once. It took the sound of Lorata's voice to pull her out of her daze, and Austri felt a sudden surge of energy take over her. Lorata. She didn't want to disappoint Lorata. "W-We're in here!! We're coming right now!!" Austri could feel the tears bubbling in her eyes, and after forcibly rubbing them away, Austri stood up, struggling. She was strong enough to move, but...

A soft neigh came from the left.

Staglebro! Austri looked over toward him, more cuts and bruises than she'd had. He was fairly alright, but he looked extremely panicked. Maybe he could be their steed, somehow. "Staglebro, get us outside, now. If you do, even I'll get you some of that B.E.E.R. you like so much." Stagle nodded easily, seeming interested in her desire to escape using him. Looking toward Flydra, the greenblood quickly rushed over to her exhausted friend, trying to help her up. "W-we can ride on Staglebro. C'mon Flydra, I'd never leave you!" Her voice didn't have its usual swirl, but the sentiment was there, definitely. She was a friend, she helped ruin her kidbot, and she was a teal. She was definitely important enough anyways! She slung the tealbloods arm around her shoulder and lifted her aching body, watching Staglebro come up to them before helping her get on him and sliding on soon after. The greenblood exhaled. "Okay, let's GO!" She exclaimed, and Stagle immediately sped through the halls, arriving near the searching Lorata easily.

"Lora! This place is going down! Where's Scorpa?" She exclaimed, the eerie blue arrow making the pressure on her chest want to explode.

Flydra is moving down

"Hello, Gorgeous. I'm so happy to see you-" Flydra smiled weakly at Lorata, attempting to lighten the incredibly scary and exhausting situation up a bit. She blinked back some of the tears that had formed earlier at the thought of her own mortality in this situation. It was good to see the seadweller had returned to them even though the tealblood would not have faulted her for abandoning them. She was a highblood of great importance, saving a handful of midbloods was not a priority for a seadweller. But she'd come back, specifically to find them, and this thought warmed Flydra's biscuit and further cemented Lorata as a leader to follow for the rest of her life.

"Austri, my legs are too weak- Thank you." Austri chirped up, hoisting Flydra's arm around herself to boost them both onto Staglebro. It was a sweet gesture and definitely a necessary one as the tealblood was still feeling weak and sore. Her arm stayed wrapped around the breezy greenblood, holding on for a bit of comfort. It also helped her stay on. The trio of them set off to follow the arrows directing them out.

"Scorpa, where are you? We have to get out!" If she knew the yellowblood as well as she thought she did, Scorpa was likely still trying to be a hero. The girl's enthusiasm was amazing but her stubbornness was problematic at times. Calling out the name of their final member, Flydra didn't care if her voice would be shot tomorrow. This was important.

"Please, Scor, you can't die here!"

Amonee is moving down

N-no, it was really happening? Amonee could barely handle the shock once the announcement finished. After all they had done, they had failed? And the building was going to explode any second now! Panili's vision was coming true despite the efforts they'd put in to thwart the mysterious villains. Civisect was going to suffer the effects of this for a long time. The beautiful beach city he'd been dreaming of getting his very own art gallery in. A place of great art and technological advancement- blown to bits by the confusing and unexplained goals of a band of criminals.

"I have to find Nucleo!" The threat of death was enough to get a rush of adrenaline coursing through him and the boy staggered upwards, running towards where he'd last left the other greenblood. Crashing through the door, he ignored any pain or confusion from the other trolls fleeing the area and bent down to help tug the taller boy to his feet.

"Can you walk? We don't have much time!" If it came down to it, he would carry Nucleo if he had to but it would slow them down considerably. Dashing out of the building together, he tried to focus on the teal lines leading them out. He would deal with the horror and trauma of what was happening around him later once they made it to safety. If he did it now, he'd collapse into a crying mess. Okay, turn right, keep going down, another right...

"If only we'd brought Goatmom!" She would've been able to get at least Nucleo out pretty fast!

Nucleo is moving down

"Amonee, I'm sorry-" Nucleo winced as the jadeblood appeared before him. He was still trapped in the metal grill coffin, encased in a cage. The announcement had chilled him to his very core, trapped in a building that was going to collapse. He'd understood immediately that he was going to die. Amonee, however, wasn't having any of it. He crouched down and began to tug him out. The pain was incredible, Nucleo let out a cry as he could feel the metal gash up his right foot. It was going to be hard to walk on.

"I'll try." The teen grimaced as Amonee asked if he could walk now. It was excruciating but better than death. He needed to get out of here and check that everyone he cared about had survived. Limping alongside the jadeblood, Nucleo left muddied green footprints from his bloody shoe. It would mark the trail for any trolls having trouble with the teal arrows, maybe.

Despite his injury, the trip out felt considerably shorter than the way in. With their directions given to them, they could focus on speed instead of scouting. Soon they were approaching the entrance and zipping outside. Crashing out towards the other trolls fleeing the area, he prayed they'd reach some shelter from the oncoming blast soon.

Scorpa is moving down

"Nooooo!" Scorpa screamed in anger after the broadcast. They'd come so far and they were going to be heroes. It slipping away from her like this- it was devastating. Now everyone in this building was going to be a failure. Also possibly dead. Enraged, she slammed her fist against the wall, glaring at the arrows lining the way to their retreat. Their defeat.

"Dammit! Damn you!" The yellowblood hissed. Storming through the halls, she began her escape, keeping an eye out for other trolls. She wasn't worried about her girls, while Scorpa feared them getting hurt she also knew they were capable of this. Flydra and Austri had opted to stay back and recover, they'd probably managed to do so in time for the announcement and left already. As for Lorata, she'd looked a bit worse but also been left closer to the exit too. She wasn't weak, she could do this. Honestly the only one of them in real danger was herself- she'd traveled in the furthest and hadn't taken any breaks. She hoped they weren't waiting around outside for her in fear, they needed to keep moving as far away from this tower as possible.

"I'm coming." She grit her teeth. Dodging some falling rubble, she navigated through the metal skeleton of the ladder- if this place wanted to kill her it, she wasn't going to let it be easy. Flames erupted from nearby machines, everything they'd worked for was coming down. Racing through the broken hallways, she neared the door and saw the smoke billowing outside. The building groaned a warning above her, it could no longer hold. Leaping out the door, she could feel a shockwave of pressure behind her and braced for impact.

The alarms rang, the building shook, footprints could be heard, loud and panicked. The loud noise jolted Chiara awake. Her eyes focused, and she slowly remembered where she was. All the pains in her body came back as well, fierce and white hot. It was the pain really that woke the troll up completely. She felt the pain, heard the noises, and finally she got up. Something was happening, something big. The troll's eyes focused, and she saw troll after troll flee the building. She recognized a fluff of hair and the horns to accompany it. "Hey, nerd!" The troll called as she reached out to the other troll, a flimsy grin marking her face. "Lend a hand?"

The electronic echo of the mysterious box becomes unbearable. A single clot-piercing beep rings out and then ceases all at once. As you rush down the space ladder, it feels as though the building is breathing in before the explosion takes place.

A cacophony screeches from the top floors, the crash of pillars splintering and coming apart mixed in with the initial blast. Scaffolding and metal bridges recede into the vast abyss above, but are soon illuminated by flames. Verier’s head-start may have saved your life. You race. The inferno accompanies huge shards of molten shrapnel. They bust through pylons, bridges and stairways, busting the bones of the tower as its nervous system of wires snap with sharp bursts and swing dangerously against the walls. Heat and static fill the tunnel, until finally you reach the ground floor.

The crowds of trolls are flowing away from the burning construction site, as parts of it fall outwards, giant petals of concrete and metal raining down on nearby buildings and the occasional bystander. The flame of the explosion has raised the height of the space elevator up to twice it's original size, and fountains debris and black smoke into the sky. Around you is chaos and panic, and trolls running for the safety of basements, or the city limits.

He got them out he got them out he got them out. Reemus had pushed with what strength he had left to clear the building with Voscil. She was fast, she was strong, but he needed her there with him. After hours where he had no idea, and he was going through hell, who knew what she went through too. Fire chased them, as it had in a time before, but it wouldn't touch them. Not this time. The annoying beeping stopped after it hit a crescendo of awful for his spongeclots.

And then, the blaze. A quiet moment, soon filled by sounds of chaos. They did not succeed. To live, now that was a good runner's up. Even once they were out, that wasn't enough. The ladder was falling apart, fast. Every part of it would soon fall. They couldn't be caught in the crossfire.

Reemus was thankful that their lusii weren't there, nor other trolls they knew. So many heads to keep track of, and he didn't have the time for that.

"We need to run n' we need to run until we can't anymore!" he ordered, trying to make himself be known and heard over everyone else freaking out. "It ain't safe here anymore, love! If I gotta carry you, I will, but if we can move we gotta!"

Even the time he took to speak felt like too much. If anything big came down, he couldn't punch it away.

This... All of this wasn't supposed to happen. This city that was once Alternia's dazzling center of research and vacationing was now in flames, drenched in rubble and ash-- certainly not the highblooded paradise everyone came to know. Polair had written down tonight's possible outcomes before she had arrived to the Science Dome. She had listed a routine for her to follow during her stay there, she had even investigated thoroughly which of the personnel she would speak to regarding an internship. But now, as Claud got Polair away from danger, she knew very well that her plans and her night had gone astray. The beeping rang through her spongeclots, she could hear it even after they were out of the tower. Her aquatic bloodpusher panged against her chest and, even if she wasn't the one running, she slowly started to hyperventilate. She couldn't believe that everything they had built and worked for-- Everything she had worked for was for nothing.

A big waste of my time.

Had she really wasted her time chasing a useless dream or a childish whim? Was Claud right after all? Should she be locked away in her library to read, to drown herself in knowledge so she could become a better and competent troll? Was this all a mistake? Was meeting all her friends a mistake? Buffel, Cerpin, Natash, Kolako, Nictor... Had they taken so much of her time that she put aside her studies? Was she no longer a competent child? Polair huffed, she was getting worked up again. Polair realized she normally did so and that was troublesome, what was this strange mania of hers? Claud did his best to find some safe shelter for them, a basement belonging to someone who was now deceased. According to Claud, they were trampled by a sudden crowd before they got the chance to go underground. He scurried inside, pushed the doors close until he heard it click. The seabear reassured her they were safe now, Polair hopped off and sat on the ground. He sounded very drained and it was all because of her-- if only she could protect herself. The very fact that she lived such a vaguely unsatisfactory life sometimes made her do secondary and menial things that never required all her gifts or abilities. Look what happened in the dome, she couldn't even do manual labor on her own. The sounds from outside overwhelmed her. The screams echoed altogether in the shelter made her even dizzier. It's resonance grew louder and louder each passing second. Polair did her best to cover her spongeclots but it was impossible to ignore it.

As soon as the child got a hold of herself, Claud trotted next to her to rest. Once she was certain he was asleep, the child started to cry. She couldn't hold it in anymore. Her cry was dreadful and silent, mentally she went over the bad things she did. She first overreacted in the worst possible way, causing a disagreement between her and Claid and later was drawn by the leak, and dealt with the chemicals firsthand.

She got so close to it, so consumed in curiosity, in those feelings she tried so hard to suppress, that she got carried away and got some of the substance into her eyes. The outcome-- She'd lost her sight to it. Whenever something went awry when it wasn't supposed to she turned aloof, and would go back to her comfort zone to think about it relentlessly until she stopped thinking of all those millions of possibilities the event could have ended and got over it. It was a mistake, the whole trip to the science dome was a mistake. She was foolish to think that she could do things just because she thought she had the knowledge-- or some knowledge. This was the biggest mistake Polair Rision could have thought of. The idea of being independent at such a young age... She thought that would save her, she thought that would somehow make her strive to be more capable of handling herself without having Claud by her side at all times with his constant panic attacks. He wasn't a bad lusii, Polair never thought of him that way. He just had a complex mind, a different way to process things which clashed constantly with her way of thinking. Maybe she shouldn't touch anything or do anything as she would only get hurt. She was going to pay the price, carry the burden of vision loss as a punishment. Was that really for the best?

Was that going to be the way she'd learn from now on? For every mistake would she pay a painful price?

Why am I being so ridiculous about this? I made a mistake... but that doesn't mean I've never done one before. She thought as she rubbed her eyes and sighed. She had made many mistakes before and that was normal, everyone did them. Polair had lost at many discussions and that never got her down. Her loses only made her stronger, made her learn something from it-- Made her grow into a new her. So why was it different this time? Because she couldn't see or because she longed for Claud's approval of her winnings? Did she always needed his recognition or anyone's at all? No. She never seemed to care. She began to think about Cerpin, just how different he was and he was and how he only regretted living by other's rules. Had she lied to him then? Hadn't she told the purpleblooded boy that she lived by her rules, that she always followed what she considered tolerable and considered herself free? Now she knew she only wished for Claud's acknowledgement, to see him admire her skills, and will power, instead of comparing her with other seadwellers or simply not letting her do things on her own because he thought of her weak. It's all on how you carry yourself.

Polair began to run her fingers through her hair as she sniffled. The child had learned some of the things through error and through trial, through fantasy and illusion, through falsehood and her own damn foolishness, through being mistaken and wrong and an idiot and egotistical and aspiring and hopeful and being believing and confused. Each thing she learned was so simple and obvious, once she grasped it, that the child wondered why she had not always known it. And what had she learned? To preserve, to change, to move on to something worth her time. Polair bitterly chuckled as she knew very well she needed to remind herself, that in the darkest moments, every failure is just one step toward success, every detection of what is false directed her towards what was true, every trial exhausted some tempting form of error, and every adversity would only hide, for a time, her path to peace and fulfillment.

Just by living, she had learned that he could not devour Alternia's knowledge, that she must know and accept her limitations even more. Polair realized that much of her torment of the sweeps past and this night had been self-inflicted, and an inevitable part of growing up. And, most important of all for one who had taken so long to grow up, Polair thought that she had learned not to be the slave of her emotions. She knew she had to do something. The child was in need to prove to her father that she could handle herself well. Mistakes. Trial and error. They were both the same thing, weren't they? Then it clicked. Mistakes were a form of how we learn to walk and run and that hot things burn when they are touched.

"I’ve made mistakes all my life and I'm always going to keep making them no matter how much I try not to fail." Polair had made up her mind. She was going to do it, she was going to step up her game, stop weeping and take responsibility for her actions. She wiped away her tears feeling a bit more determined to accomplish that task. She wasn't taking any shortcuts, she was going to work hard to prove to Claud that she--

No... I am not in need to prove myself to anyone. She had to prove her strength and will to herself in order to be satisfied with herself.

"I don’t care how hard this will be," She muttered to herself. "I don’t care how disappointed I am right now, and I’m sure that I am not going to let this get the best of me. All I know is that I want to be my own seadweller, someone shaped by my desire, not fear of disappointing the ones whom I love and cherish..."

She wanted to be independent? Then she must develop skills for it and depend only on herself. Hell as if she was going to let her visual impairment get in the way of enjoying her life or simply knowing her current worth."I’m moving on with my life." And that was final. The only true happiness was to learn, to advance, and to improve: which could not happen unless she hadn't commenced with error, ignorance, and imperfection. It was common sense for her now that she must take a method and try it and if it failed, she had to admit it frankly and try another. But above all, Polair was determined to try something. Claud and the others would know of her visual impairment in time. The child knew they would only slow her down, they would only stop her from doing things until she took a shortcut to resolve her problems. But that would quench her desire to grow now wouldn't it? She would tell them yes, after she showed them her potential, after she could contemplate it.

After she learned how to contemplate the world though blind eyes...

Suddenly...

Boom.

She felt a shock all over her body. Her breathing was hard, Polair felt something weighing her down. It wasn't until she felt a cold breeze on her hand that she realized they were buried underneath the hive.

It collapsed.

After Fellah had the two trolls over his shoulders, he got out of their quicker than a fly finding dung. Listening to Aandes directions almost robotically, and not listening to Eridia's protests, he ran as fast as those country legs could take him.
Once out of the tower he kept on going for a bit, at least long enough to make sure they were safe from any falling debris or explosions. It was then that the robust troll finally set the two down. He looked frantic, panicked.
"Miss Eridia, whoever yer talkin' about would be a lot happier that yer safe out here. I can guarantee that," he said, catching his breath. "Now, are ya both alright?" he quickly looked them over, happy to see a lack of any life threatening wounds.
Then his eyes started darting back toward the tower, where more trolls were still pouring out of. That look on his face, it was hard to tell if it was bravery or desperation.
"There are so many others still tryin' to get out. I should go back, maybe someone's trapped." He was concerned, and too kind for any troll's own good. He started to take a couple steps back toward the tower.

Psykgi had run as fast as her legs could carry her, pushing herself to the limit and beyond. The more the beeping echoed, the more convinced she was that she needed to run. A lot. Her ever-present smile was gone, replaced by a look of pure concentration as she focused, almost entirely, on getting through this alive.

She reached the last stretch of hallway and charged out of the exit right as something changed in the air around her. Something different. Something very, very bad. She kept going as she felt sudden pressure and heat erupt behind her. In some wierd twist of sensory perception, the roar of it seemed to come after some hesitation, loud and unnatural, wrath personified with a little bit of the screaming of the damned for good measure.

She didn't stop running until her foot landed on something not quite balanced and she tripped, catching herself on the ground and scraping her hands and knees. She was about to stand up again when a piece of burning slag crashed to the ground where she would have been. Instinct told her to duck and protect her face and eyes as hot shrapnel from the makeshift meteor and it's brethren in the sky pattered around - and onto her. She could feel it burning holes in her suit, in her skin, but the pain was dull and sidelined for now - it, like the roar of the explosion, would come later.

The suit itself was flame retardant, and the burns didn't go much further than that. Immediate danger passed, she chanced a look up, unfolding herself from her sheltering position and turning behind her to behold...

The tower.

She watched, incredulously, as it burned, her face limp with naked emotion. Sorrow was the closest that Psykgi could describe her feelings later, when she had the chance to look them over. She had to admit, though, that it was a mix of emotions: Sorrow - for the work they had wrought; Pain - as her contributions literally went up in smoke; Rage - at whoever could have done this; Grief - at watching a dream (her dream, her city's dream) die in a firey hellish death.

A sniffle rose from her huddled form, and a single tear dripped from her face to join the small rivulets of blood from her wounds. She wiped at it, only to have another drip softly from the other eye, reflecting the blaze as it fell.

Psykgi was looking upon all of her hard work in ruins... And she was crying.
