Nanala had picked the most perfect day to set out from her little niche in the lands to stretch out body and limbs. But most of all, it was time her little foal got out to explore and test young legs and wings. The sun was rising to it's highest point in the sky and already it was spreading warmth over the earth. The sky was dotted with white puffy clouds moving lazily to the west. Her head would turn now and then to look at the purple colt bouncing beside her. Her smile warm and her purple eyes radiated a mother's love when she looked upon him. She laughed and nuzzled against his face before he darted off in front of her. "Don't get too far ahead Nova"
"Moom! What's that?" He dashed off to investigate, stopping suddenly as he came up to the small creature. It was smaller than him! He leaned down to watch it. It was a butterfly sitting upon a yellow flower. "The colors remind me of you" He grinned up at his mother as she walked up beside him. "Can we take it home mom?"
The brightly pelted mare widened her eyes, trotting quickly to catch up to her son. She did her best not to fuss and worry over him but since the accident just days ago, she couldn't fully stop the mother instinct. "Nova" her voice carried to the foal with a tint of worry. She caught up to him and covered a wing over his back. The butterfly fluttered up and flew off to another flower. She smiled and bent her neck, plucking the yellow flower. She held it carefully between her teeth while passing it to the colt. When he took it she knelt down beside him. He tucked it into her mane by her ear. "Thank you dear."
