"That's a relief. I think." Micah leaned against the tree with a little less wariness.

I everyone's exception, Nova purred.

"What do you even mean by that?" Micah demanded of the bracelet, frowning at it. "She says she's everyone's exception."

"Uh," he said flatly. "I think it means she wants to ******** you." Horace looked at the bracelet. "I mean I guess I can't blame her, but..." He shrugged.

"Don't get splinters, Micah."

Micah spluttered in wordless outrage. He held up his wrist and poked the green-amber stone set into the bracelet. "No," he growled. "Humans are off limits!"

Aw, you no fun, Nova giggled. Where else I get fun, huh?

"Off limits," he repeated, primly scandalized.

He coughed to hide a chuckle. "All humans ever? Aw, Nova, are you gonna let him ruin your fun like that?" Horace knew, abstractly, that this conversation would be entirely different if Nova wasn't a bracelet, but she was. She wasn't a plant-thing like that and also couldn't infect anyone with ice crotch.

Nope! Nova giggled harder, utterly unrepentant.

Micah gave Horace the evil eye. "Not allowed," he repeated, a plaintive note sneaking into his tone. "I don't need that in my head, man ... "

He arched an eyebrow. "Wait, you mean like when she visualizes it, you see it too?" A pause. "Like... porn playing in your head?"

"She likes to share," Micah said sourly, and gave Horace a flat stare that communicated plainly that he was probably right.

"Share what? Share men?" And if that didn't set off an interesting series of images in his own head... "Oh wait you mean... okay." There was something so long-suffering about Micah's stare that Horace was tempted to just burst out laughing.

"Wow, mine doesn't do that. So how do I get me a portable one of her?"

Micah sputtered again, right back to scandalized, particularly when Nova purred in his head. "Don't give her ideas," he almost begged.

"Trade you," he muttered, then winced as Nova shrieked, NO! YOU MINE. "Okay, fine, I know I can't do that."

"She seems pretty attached to you anyway. Brand loyalty." Horace had raised his phone to capture a picture of that sputter and while it wasn't a good picture, it was hilarious. Horace locked it against accidental deletion.

"Just remember ice crotch is a thing and I've heard it's painful. Condoms don't cut it there."

"She says she picked me so I'm hers," Micah reported sourly. "Hell if I know why she picked me. Maybe just to make me yell."

"I wouldn't." A firm glare. "Even if it was something I was gonna do, not with my own weapon, that would be weird."

"Yeah, with your weapon... it'd be like just a laundry list afterward of everything you did wrong. No fun." He grimaced .That would definitely be what Jannisari would do. "Wait does that mean you would with someone else's weapon?"

"That would be awful. What -- no!!" The glare intensified. "I just said I wouldn't do that."

"I mean I guess if you're into CBT, then ice crotch is alright...." He paused as if considering this thoughtfully. "Though there's better alternatives on island."

Horace wiggled his eyebrows meaningfully.

"I don't think I want to know what that is, and I don't think I'm into it if it makes ice crotch a good thing," Micah replied. He stretched and rolled his neck, getting a good cracking sound out of the exercise. "You gonna take pictures?"
