It was her first day as an official student of Amityville. The famed Amirtyville.

The twiggy witch, Armageddon O'Boyle, skulked up toward the Reaper dorms with her luggage in tow. There were large antique looking trunks, pulled on a long wooden wagon. A large satchel hung at her side, and a giant pillow case filled with whatever else slung over her shoulder.

The witch wore an oversized pointed hat with a jagged end. It seemed to take up a supreme amount of real estate on her head, and waves of thick shaggy black hair hung down from within. The tired and baggy eyes were filled with curious wonder as she lifted her head to take in the sight of what was to be her new home.

"It's.. big." She murmured to herself. She'd grown up in a teeny tiny village, within a teeny tiny cottage. Forests of spooky trees had been her playground. Amity was like a whole other world.

"Maybe too big." She added.

It had been a while since Sparrow had done anything meaningful as of late. He went to classes, attended meetings, and did everything a good boil was meant to do. It was a very calm, very respectful, sensible, and otherwise pleasant life that he very much enjoyed.

And now he'd heard a rumor that there was a new student arriving, and not only was she a new student, but she was a new reaper. As one of the Resident Assistants of the reaper students, he felt it was his obligation to make certain that she felt welcome.

He was quite pleased. Sparrow was dressed to the nines, as he always was, and spent an inordinate amount of time making sure his cravat was just so before exiting the reaper dormitory and heading towards the front gates, whistling a merry tune as he did so.

There was a dark haired ghoul at the gates, peering around. Sparrow went towards her excitedly.

"Pardon me," he called, eyes alight with curiosity. "Might you be the new student?"

Maggie's gaze had been upward at her surroundings, but as a voice called to her, it trailed down. A boil stood there, dressed like an aristocrat. She suddenly felt very homely, and wondered if she'd actually stepped into the wrong school grounds.

"Wooooah.." She clucked her tongue, and gave the boil another once over with a flick of her eyes. "This place sure is fancy. I get an escort and everything.." If he was indeed here for her.

"Is there more than one student coming? Um..." Either a fancy high class student was expected, or this kid was just that bored. Maybe.

"I'm new, yeah. My name is Armageddon O'Boyle. I'm usually called Maggie. Charmed to meet you..." She extended her hand, hoping for a name in exchange for hers.

He let out a laugh, sounding pleased.

"It's always polite to help those in need of help!" said Sparrow, and then shook his head. "Not that I know of! I believe you're the only new student, and I took it upon myself to come and find you! Amityville is rather large, after all; I was afraid you might get lost!"

She had stretched out a hand and Sparrow accepted it, giving it a little squeeze and a single shake before letting go.

"My name is Sparrow Heartreed," he said lightly. "I'm one of the Resident Assistants for the Reaper Dormitory. Do you need help carrying your bags?"

His gaze had flickered down as she spoke, and he indicated the trunks with an expectant smile.

"Sparrow." She repeated back, to better remember the name. "Um... yes." She looked down at the rickety wagon she was using to haul her abundance of luggage. "I have a lot.." But he offered, so let him take what he wanted, she supposed. Less work on her shoulders. She didn't much care to sweat. There were large trunks, filled with clothes, books, bottles, ingredients, and other bedroom fixings to make her dorm room feel like home. It was a scary endeavour, moving away from home, but all in the name of learning.

"Do all the students dress as dapper as you?" She paused with a frown. "That isn't a requirement, is it?" She didn't remember such a thing mentioned in the pamphlet.

He gave a nod and reached immediately for her bags. Sparrow took one his left hand and one in his right and while he swayed a little under the weight, he readjusted his grasp and began to walk.

"It's this way," he said cheerfully, nodding his head towards the building. A laugh escaped him, delighted and light, and Sparrow turned his head to look at Maggie, his eyes crinkling with pleasure.

"Well, I'm quite pleased you think me dapper," he said with a smile, "but no, it isn't a requirement at all. I just prefer to dress this way! Presenting oneself as well groomed is rather important to me."

Sparrow kept walking and said, "So, tell me a little about yourself, Maggie! What brought you to Amityville?"

One worry off the list. She really wouldn't feel right wearing such well-to-do clothing. Her baggy frocks suited her best. It was simply what she was used to. Too much change in the span of a few days would be a complete overload!

"Myself?" Her thin lips drew a wide line across her face as she thought about her answer. "Well, I really want to master making potions. There's only so much you can learn from home. I'd also like to work on improving my own innate magic." Her parents had poured over pamphlets for schools with her, and eventually chose Amity. It had a bit of an alarming reputation, but the country bumpkins assumed it all to be City Folk nonsense.

"I'm a long way from home. It'll be a bit of getting used to here."

"How um.. how long have you been here? Do you have a favourite class?"

He waited patiently to hear her answer, Sparrow lugging Maggie's trunks along with a considerable amount of effort. They were heavy and a little cumbersome, but he was going to be a good RA and do his best not to show any sort of discomfort. It was his job, after all, to be a friend to all!

"Oh, potions!" said Sparrow brightly. "There is a potions professor here that I hear is quite good at assisting students! His name escapes me, but I'm sure you'll do quite well here, you seem very eager to learn, after all, and Amityville is a good school!"

He beamed at her; but his expression shifted a little at her question, Sparrow's steps slowing a little.

"Well, supposedly I have been here for several years," he said with a little laugh, sounding rueful. "But I lost my memories quite a while ago, and I only recall the last year or two. However!" he added, rather cheerfully, "It's been a delight being here, I have greatly enjoyed all the classes I have attended, especially minipet caring!"

"Is that so? How wonderful." Her mouth curved into a smirk. "I'll have to track them down. I'm very eager to begin learning." Potions were just so cool, after all. One could make man things with them. Love potions, Luck potions, Exploding potions, Air Fresheners...

"How does one simply lose their memory?" She asked, tilting her head, causing something alive inside the hat to meow unhappily. "Maybe a... potion of forgetfullness.." She giggled at that, wondering what sort of ingredients would be needed for a memory potion.

Oh, such possibilities!

"Have you had to repeat your schooling due to it? That sounds most troublesome."

"It's very good that you are eager to learn," said Sparrow with obvious delight as he turned his head to look at Maggie. "Not many students are, I'm afraid; school is just another thing to attend to, but I've always very much enjoyed learning and I should hope others do as well!"

He beamed at her, but the smile faded slightly at her question, and Sparrow gave a little laugh that was rueful in tone.

"Not a potion," he said, and in spite of the slight wistful nature of his answer, the smile he gave to the ghoul was a kind one. "Just an incident we had here a few years ago. I don't - remember much about it, but I was told that they were taken from me. My memories, that is."

Another laugh escaped him. "Fortunately I didn't have to repeat anything, no. I'm still a third year here - ah, here we are!"

They'd arrived at the front doors of the reaper dormitory, and Sparrow gestured for Maggie to go first.

"After you!"

She looked up at the doors, touching them tentatively with her fingers. "It's a far cry from a cottage." She murmured before pushing open the doors. "This place is gigantic. There must be so many other reapers in here." She walked in, dragging her wagon behind her. Her eyes were all over the place, taking in the vast array of new sights within her new home.

She didn't seem the slightest bit worried about the school being unsafe, despite mention of a memory wiping incident. Her humble little life had sheltered her a fair amount from the dangers of the world. A hard point to see right away, as her voice and tone implied otherwise despite her neutral topics.

"Well, a gap in memories doesn't seem to keep you down. This place must be truly wonderful if you're so passionate about it."

She turned on her heel to face him, smirking in what could be assumed was supposed to be a happy smile. "What are the rooms like? Do I have my own room like the pamphlet said? What's the policy on cauldron cooking in a dorm room? Is it allowed? Is there a designated place to conduct such things within the grounds?"

"Yes, it's very large," said Sparrow with a laugh. "There are buildings for each of the main species of Amityville - monsters, reapers," He gestured grandly to himself and to Maggie. "The undead, the demons, and the ghosts. All of them have rather nice boils and ghouls in them!"

He lugged the trunk he was carrying up the steps and through the doors, setting it down just inside before turning to help Maggie lift the wagon inside as well.

"It is very wonderful!" he said, Sparrow beaming. "I love it here."

Her smile was slightly less cheerful than his own, but Sparrow paid it no mind. "You have you own room, yes!" he said brightly. "The rooms are catered to each student. You may cook in your dorm, as long as it's just something small, you can't really make four course meals there. And there are kitchens to work in as well!"

She'd never really met many other species aside from reapers and witches. The idea of seeing so many other races and creatures was beyond her imagination. She stooped down to aid Sparrow in lifting her wagon up the stairs. She could at least help the helper.

"Well, that's fortunate. My concoctions rarely survive the brewing process. I'd hate to subject my fellow dorm mates to it's... interesting aromas."

Together, the two of them heaved the wagon up the short staircase and into the hallway of the first floor. Sparrow straightened, swiping a hand through his bangs to get them out of his face, and stood with his hands on his hips, looking rather pleased.

"Oh, you make your own concoctions?" he asked curiously, gesturing for her to follow him as he picked up the trunk he'd set down earlier. "What sort of concoctions? And your room is here on the first floor, just down this way."

"Well, just little things. Wart Epidemic Spells and Hiccup Tonics. None of them turn out though, so their use is a moot point." She smiled as they got closer, feeling a tickle in her chest as excitement kicked in. Nerves and excitement. A new home, for who knows how long.

"You live here as well, right? What floor are you on?" She walked a tiny bit faster to step into time beside him, the wheels of her wagon squeaking behind her.
