SO YOU'VE BEEN ON HIATUS FOR A WHILE! First of all, and the most, absolutely important thing:

Now that we've got that cleared out of our system, a lot of people who go on hiatus ask if there is a certain "procedure" to do to return to the shop. The answer is of course not, you can simply jump in whenever you want to to any rp going on and even make your own!

However, if you are lost, confused, scared, or want some love, pats, and just some inspiration on what to do, feel free to read below for suggestions on how to transition smoothly back into the wonderful world of Halloween!

HOW TO RETURN TO TiH AFTER A HIATUS

gaia_star [ STEP 1: DONT PANIC ] Do not panic

gaia_star [ STEP 2: HOLD THIS PUPPY ] Take this foxfire it is cute and hold it as you read the rest. Think happy thoughts and how much this puppy (TiH) has missed you!

Would you say no to a face like this?

gaia_star [ STEP 3: TAKE IT EASY ] Don't overwhelm yourself with "catching up" on everything that has happened in almost half a decade. Where was your character back then? Was it at school? Was it at Deus? Then, chances are they are definitely most likely still there.

gaia_star [ STEP 4: YOUR CHARACTER DURING YOUR HIATUS ] When you are ready and have re-acquainted yourself with your characters who miss you just as much, go ahead and read the below, for the factions corresponding to your characters. These are IDEAS AND PROMPTS of what these characters could be doing on hiatus! You do not need to use any of these, you can as mentioned, simply jump in!

gaia_star [ STEP 5: MOVING YOUR CHARACTER OUT OF HIATUS BACK TO RP ] It is as easy as you want it to be! If you wish for them to have a more engaged hiatus role before you move them back to an rp role, feel free to browse the lists below for ideas and examples of what to do! Have fun and good luck! Again, any of these listed below are 100% TiH approved plots to help your character return back to a more active rp role! Feel free to use them any time!

gaia_star [ STEP 6: HAVE FUN ] Of course, the most important part is to have fun! Find some RP buddies by using our main thread or aim blast chats here and use our special plotting thread here!

AMITYVILLE/GRAD/CITIZEN CHARACTERS

First of all, I would recommend you look at your own character's journal to familiarize yourself with them! Once you're done, now you have a chance to think of an excuse or reason as to why your student was away! Again this is not necessary, just a chance for a fun writing exercise and IC reason for characters to be away to transition them easier back to the shop! Feel free to read the Newbie Guide to refamiliarize yourself with the Amityville/Halloween setting (which is just literally, a "spooky school", really not much to know other than the main info in the main thread!)

gaia_crown Take any of these prompts, go wild with them, and make them IC to your character! Have fun!

gaia_crown These can be done as journal solos, solos in the thread, or even fun prps with anyone who wishes to be involved!

gaia_star [ IN TOWN: STAY AT HOME LEARNING/ WITH FAMILY/ IN HALLOWEEN TOWN PART TIME JOB: ]
- A great and very easy reason to "return" your student ICly from hiatus is to simply say they were away from home with their family, or working a part time job! What kind of job? What were they doing with their family? That is up to you!

gaia_star [ OUT OF TOWN: TRAVELLING/ AT EXCHANGE/ SOMEWHERE ELSE ]
- You can also write your character was travelling/ at some school exchange/ somewhere else
- If you wish to create some exchange school information fill out this form and post in this thread to get your exchange school approved (no need to wait for approval just fill it out and it’s ICly okay to go). Please don’t use school names that are from actual fiction like “Hogwarts” nobody wants that.

If your character has graduated you can either return to school to take additional courses as a “refresher" or simply dive into Halloween Town info!

gaia_star [ HALLOWEEN TOWN CITIZENS ]:

Most reasons are viable, as the schedules and content of creeple’s lives vary drastically, and there is no structure of IC accountability except what you choose to establish.
Vacations, moving, travel to find oneself, further education in different lands are all viable. So is simply getting lost, falling under some curse, and any number of plotful incidents!
For anything involving illegal activities, hunters, or the human world, please to send a pm to the shop mule or IM and admin to go over things and potential consequences.

DEUS EX MACHINA CHARACTERS

First of all, I would recommend you look at your own character's journal to familiarize yourself with them! Once you are done, feel free to browse the Deus 101 thread to refresh yourself about Hunters and how they differ from Halloween!

gaia_crown Hunters are a little more specific: they could either simply be on the island doing the same daily routine such as training, going on EMs, being stationed to chores and outposts, or vary themselves with any of the options below:

List of things they may have been doing!

gaia_star [ OUTPOSTS: ] Your character instead of just doing the "daily" routine could also be stationed at a remote outposts. Remote outposts are areas in the real human world (real world) like remote "camps" that Hunters locate themselves at for days, weeks, months at end. Here, they guard the human world from horseman and potential errant Halloween creatures looking to wreck havoc. These areas are always "portal sensitive" to Halloween, so Hunters usually have to be on guard to make sure nothing strange passes by.

- Please read here and here for outposts information!

- People are free to make up an outpost location, use an existing one, or contact an admin to figure out something that will suit their character/be interesting plot wise! For fastest responses, simply just pick an outpost location of your choice and use the form below to post here (once posted it is canon, you can rp it, you will only be contacted if your outpost is extremely OOC for some reason and you just didn't read the outpost info thread).

POSTING A HIATUS HUNTER OUTPOST
[b]Location:[/b] Pick a REMOTE LOCATION in the REAL WORLD such as like for example, Canadian wilderness, Sahara Desert, etc. Keep the actual area VAGUE. Don't use big cities/ actual towns.

When you have figured out where your Hunter was you are free to post a mission report for them here!

gaia_star [ PODDING ] If for some reason you decide your Hunter was inactive at all during the time of your hiatus, you can "pod" them. It basically means a Hunter becomes inactive, and is put into sleep stasis until they are deemed fit to return. When you are ready for them to "wake up", simply rp them here, or post a solo/ in your journal/ make a prp as you see fit of them returning back/waking up again!

HORSEMEN CHARACTERS

All horseman, will eventually find themselves back at the Four Clans tower when they are ready to reintegrate themselves again. Just make sure to read the thread to catch up on what has happened to them and where they are at! When you are ready, here is a list below of things they could have been doing.

gaia_crown Remember that horsemen have very long long lives. It is not strange to have horsemen wander/get lost/ simply travel the world to experience for centuries, if not decades at a time! The act of traveling and exploring, as well as expanding their own fear, is simply called the clan's journey. Feel free to write a solo about the strange things they may have encountered in the Human World/ while at Halloween!

gaia_crown Of course, all Horseman can also take tasks that can turn out to be a little more long term!

List of things they may have been doing!

gaia_star [ AT HORSEMEN TOWER:]
- The Horsemen Tower is basically the base of operations. There are about a hundred things they could have been doing at the Four Clans tower such as: sentry duty, scouting/surveying the area/ getting lost. Each clan can have different subduties.

Famine: Alchemy, capturing/breeding insects, creating viruses and plagues

Conquest: Surveying/mapping, exploring the world, culture and literature

War: Training/sparring, helping create outposts for horsemen, surveying said outposts, preying on Hunters

Death: Jewelcrafting, prospecting, weapons crafting, and the fine art of divination (Trance)

You can write an optional solo if you wish, but they’re basically doing any of the above (can put in journal or HERE)

gaia_star [ IN HUMAN WORLD: ]
- You can also saying your horseman got stranded in the human world (or in Halloween) somewhere and had to be refound/rescued/ so on so forth. As horsemen are very functional as solitary creatures who have extremely long lifespans, it is not uncommon for them to wander the world creating their own havoc as independent harbingers of Fear. You may also create an optional “temporary home” for your horsemen too if you wish, just a small burrow or temporary nest.

gaia_star [ IN HALLOWEEN WORLD ]

- A horseman can also interact in Halloween too. They might find the ways of students/ citizens curious and may try to imitate this. Feel free to write this out as you please. Maybe they even found a new student roommate.
