Well this was declining into an interesting mess.

Jinan was rather lost, having flying around for quite a while now. On its own that would not be an entirely terrible thing were it not for the rain coming down and the proper storm on its way - sooner rather than later if the thunder was anything to judge by. She was a good flier, but if the storm was too fierce she would be driven to some sort of ground and forced to find a place to wait out the weather before continuing on. Where, or if, such a place might be found she had no idea. Especially considering if what she heard before was correct, this was probably Thunderbird territory. If not already then she was very close to it. If she were forced to stop here for a while hopefully it would not mean trouble...

The next crack of thunder was closer and lightning lit up the sky. Heavier rain followed soon after. The weather seemed keen on giving her little choice in the matter, so she turned a bit more downward looking for somewhere safe to land.

Stormchaser loved flying in the rain. It was everything he loved about their herd, all wrapped into one exhilarating action. His wings burned with the effort it took to fight the winds and the water on his wings, and the water pouring into his eyes made it hard to see, and he could feel his long mane getting matted and tangled as he whipped around the skies. But none of that fazed him.

Instead it was a reminder to him of all the gifts Thunderbird had granted to them. Well, the actual Thunderbird - his cocky brother liked to boast. Chaser didn't even wonder if it was his doing or not anymore; he didn't care. It was still fun, and still a thrilling challenge.

As lightning flashed across the sky, a flash of colors caught his eye. Steadying himself out against the win, he went to investigate. Just a bit ahead he caught sight of a mare struggling against the deluge. She looked nice enough from first glance - "You allright?" he called over the roar of the wind.

Company up here with the weather like this was pretty much the last thing she expected. She was barely able to hear his voice over the wind, thankfully his lighter coat relatively easy to pick out from the dark sky. "Not really, no!"

There were storms at home but nothing quite like this, with the mountain air feeding the weather. The key was to keep everything under control and not panic, otherwise she was going to be in for a rather unpleasant landing. She envied the strange stallion who was her 'companion' a little right now since he seemed to be having no trouble at all despite the wind and the rain. Apparently she really wasn't a good a flier as she thought.

Chaser banked, circling in a way to keep his control in the strong wind and rains that pummeled against him. "Hold on!" he called to her once he was in ear shot. "We can take shelter in the mountains until the storm breaks."

He came up behind her, riding a gust of wind, and spread his wings wide; bracing himself. With his position, and slightly larger frame, he was able to break the wind against him and allow the mare to get a better footing in the deluge.

"There," he said, pointing with his hoofs to the ragged cliffs of the mountains not too far away. "Don't worry, its my home territory!" he added confidently.

Even if he was a stranger she was grateful for his help, since she probably would not have been able to manage much longer without it. Jinan could not quite see where he was pointing until lightning lit up the sky again. Rather than waste time answering vocally she just nodded and headed for it. The sooner she was out of the air the better at this point, being thoroughly soaked and wind whipped was not something she was used to. Her landing may not have been the most elegant, but at least she made it to the ground without crash or injury. She looked back to see if the stallion was indeed following her and another crack of thunder made her ears twitch uneasily. It was more than a little intimidating to be this close to a storm.

Belatedly what he had said to her before she headed down clicked. His home territory? "Are you a Thunderbird, then?" The answer would help fix her mental map somewhat, telling her if she had traveled as far as she suspected.

Chaser let out a breath of relief then the pretty mare landed on the cliffside. The cliffs were steep, but with a flying start it was easy to get to stable outcroppings that had caves or crevasses that served great as temporary shelters. He landed behind her, flipping his rain-soaked, heavy mane behind him and out of his face, so he could get a better look at the traveler.

She was quite lovely, Chaser noted, and a rather capable flier (after all, she didn't get shredded against the rocks...). She seemed to have some scales and cloven hooves, but they didn't look Kalona in nature to him. "This should be good until the storm breaks," he said, his voice easier to hear as it echoed off the stone walls.

He was surprised when she asked if he was a Thunderbird, but he smiled and puffed his chest out a bit. "Yes, I am," he said, flicking his ears. "You've heard of us?"

That was a good thing... right?"

No she was not a kalona, far from it actually - part wind and part kirin. It was a shame he was not seeing her at her best, since right now she felt - and just might look - rather like a drowned rat. At least now, thanks to his help, she would have a chance to dry off and speak with him properly. "A little. Others mentioned your territory was up this way." Nothing bad had been said, just that they were an older and very respectable herd. "I hadn't planned on stopping anywhere near here, but the weather obviously made other arrangements."

Admittedly, she was more than a little pleased that it had. Especially now that she was able to get a better look at the stallion who had saved her. He was a grand wind, a fair bit bigger than her, with powerful wings. The last she assumed to be true because how else would he have managed to stay so steady against that storm? She shook her head a bit to get the shorter part of her mane out of her eyes and smiled at him. "My name is Jinan." Might as well make introductions since they might be stuck here for a while yet.

"That's right," he said, giving her a smile. "We have a pretty large territory, most of the mountains that you see here we patrol. But our 'home base' so to speak is nestled away.... top secret," he added with a wink. "Once the storm breaks, I'll be happy to escort you where ever you need to go." He looked up the sky, squinting. "Sorry about the storm. I can't promise that my brother isn't responsible. He gets over-zealous sometimes." He was too busy rambling, trying to impress the pretty little mare that he forgot to introduce himself. "Oh," he said, shaking his head and rolling his eyes. "Of course, where are my manners. My name is Stormchaser, but my friends just call me Chaser." He looked her over again and smirked, "It's very nice to meet you, Jinan."

"That's good to know." Thunderbird territory was a lot vaster than the others she met before had made it seem, or she might have simply misunderstood their meaning which was possible too. "And I'm not precisely sure where I want to go is the thing, I just generally pick a direction and follow the wind." That was sort of the reason this whole thing started and thus far her approach had not failed her. "It's nice to meet you too, Chaser." Was that being informal too quickly? Maybe, but he had offered the nickname first so...

"You said your brother might have caused this?" Jinan was terribly confused. How could another soquili have caused that? She glanced between him to the weather outside and back again, hoping he might have some sort of explanation.
