A Bundle of Wings & Eyes
Open:
July 29, 2015 @ 4 AM PST
Closed: August 3, 2015 @ 11:59 PM PST

Welcome to A Bundle of Wings & Eyes! This contest is for newbies to Lucifer's line. It's a character concept and plot contest, with a dash of roleplay thrown in for good measure.

Read below for rules, information about the family, and the forms.

Rules

  1. Read these rules.
  2. Follow them, the rules of Soquili, and Gaia's rules/ToS.
  3. Lucifer line newbies only. This includes triwings and descendants without the trait. If you know you will be receiving a descendant of Lucifer soon, or if you have a breeding that has been taken on, please do not enter. Co-ownership that includes breeding or RP rights = non-newbie.
If you have plots with a Lucifer descendant but have not had your breeding taken on yet, you may still enter.
  4. Fill out the form completely, or your entry will go unread.
  5. No late entries; time stamps will be checked.
  6. Questions: PM Mahogany Sunset or Lunadriel, or post here, if you're comfortable. Coding/other issue: PM/quote Mahogany Sunset. Thank you <3

Guidelines & Hints

  • "Sinclair" is the family's surname, and it's a good idea to use it.
  • There are several name themes in this family: from Lucifer's line come names with religious connotations. This is true of the basket's sisters, Adoration and Resurrection. Many Sinclair (Cleaver) names are of Italian/Romance language origin. Other name themes can be found if you look closely at smaller, nuclear families in the lines (links to trees can be found below). Conform or diverge as you see fit. :3
  • We prefer active Soquili regulars who will stick around to roleplay or at least plot with their new basket.
  • Kidnapping plots will not be received well unless the foal/basket is found within hours of being taken. These three would hunt and catch a kidnapper, and who knows what would follow. Lost foal plots are not feasible with the close eye they will keep on the little ones (unless, again, they are only gone for a short time).

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I edit my post?
YES! Don't ask, just do, lovelies! We'll be looking them all over again after the time passes. Just don't edit them after closing time.
  • I have a breeding plotted with X line related to these baskets. Can I still enter?
If your breeding has yet to be rolled/cashed in for/otherwise obtained, you may enter no matter who the parents are related to. We understand that plots can fall through. If your breeding has been obtained and one of the parents is directly descended from the Lucifer line, you may not enter.
  • What is the birth order?
Resurrection was the last born. The order and significance of Adoration's and the remaining male's births is up to the entrant.
  • What exactly are the "idiosyncrasies" referred to in the last question of the character questionnaire?
The idiosyncrasies that were being referred to are the various mental health/physical issues that the family members have and that, with the mixed blood, could be either hereditary or diluted. These are mostly like Arcadia's hypersensitivity to touch, which makes things like light nuzzling or cloth on her skin feel like she's burning; Vermillion's two personas/split personality; Adoration's compulsion to have something covering her; and Vapor's issues that stem from his unikalona blood - unwillingness to kill, anger, often foul mouth, etc. Resurrection also has her fascination with the afterlife. So that sort of thing~ The question is, essentially, how does the foal feel about all these and does he have anything that sets him apart from "normal" soq? Or is he different in the family by being "normal" and without any obvious issues?

Family

This
family is extremely close-knit, quirky, and filled with love. Accepting and caring almost to a fault, they are part of a larger herd: the Sinclair Family Herd, also known as the Cleavers. Although they do not stay with the family year round, these three and their children will be part of the larger herd's celebrations as long as they are together - which is for the foreseeable future. (( Vapor will eventually separate from the family with Resurrection in tow, but not for a long time yet, and he will return periodically. ))

Vermillion and Arcadia met as fillies, became best friends, and have pretty much lived together ever since. While their relationship is not usually of a romantic nature, the two are partners, and will raise a family together. Vapor joined them when Arcadia found him, starving and alone in the wintertime, and the two of them nursed him back to good health. The level of romance in the relationship among the three of them isn't exactly clear as yet, but they will be raising the foals together - the girls with a little less help and a little more mischief from Vapor than they would probably appreciate.

Mother: Arcadia Sinclair
About: A minimalist, Arcadia is very strict and serious when it comes to her art, to the point of obsessiveness, and this bleeds into her everyday life - when she collects materials, she takes things that will leave the smallest mark on the environment. When she plays, she hates to tear up the grass, knock over stones... She isn't be the best playmate, especially since she doesn't like to be touched. Hypersensitive to feelings on her skin, even more so than a normal horse, Arcadia is very aware of the effects that touch can have on a person, and she uses this in her artwork. All of her pieces use a lot of negative space, usually with a single focal point, distant from everything around it, which is the way she often feels: like she is a piece removed from play, all because touch is unpleasant to her. Arcadia's pieces often both comfort and unnerve her, because she relates to them and, at the same time, every time she compulsively makes one, she is faced with the horrible reality of how she lives her life. The only reliefs Arcadia has found are flying and swimming, both of which involve cool temperatures and pressure that is light on her skin. She has worked herself up to incredible endurance levels so she can enjoy these activities for as long as possible.

While not physically close to her family, Arcadia loves them so dearly that it hurts sometimes that she can't really be with them. Because she is so distant physically, she is very attached to them emotionally. She wants to know everything that has been going on with them all the time, wants to know them the way others can't, wants to understand them and love them for exactly who they are. This will not stop her, however, from scolding them for tearing up the ground every once in a while - she knows, after all, the impact that touch can have on anything, a well-meaning touch, a thoughtless one, or otherwise. She will likely be a mother hen. There will be some things that she knows that she cannot stop, though... Like the need to feed. Like many with kalona blood, Arcadia needs meat to survive. She can push her cravings away for months, but when finally she snaps, she snaps, and Vermillion is there to pick up the pieces and put her back together. They depend on one another for sanity. Vapor, on the other hand, is a good sparring partner - verbally, idealistically, and sometimes morally. She's not exactly sure whether or not she's fallen in love with both of them, but most days, she's pretty sure she has.

Father: Vapor
About: Vapor lives a conflicted life, caught between the lust for blood that a kalona has, and the will of a unicorn to help preserve life. The balance leans more towards the desires of a kalona, but tips enough to cause him constant hell from his unicorn blood. He craves meat for sustenance. But!...he can't kill. It leaves him scavenging with the birds to find abandoned kills, or the already dead. He doesn't like rotten meat though, as it makes him sick for days. If he can steal someone's kill, he will.

Getting blood on his unicorn horn, sends shock and pain through his body. It may be mental anguish, made into pain from his own fears, or something he yet understands. Vapor tends to be careful when eating or ripping into the flesh of a carcass.

All this conflicting emotion causes him to be in bad mood. Vapor will pursue a fight with anyone that doesn't seem like too much of a threat. He likes to push the weak around. His preferred method of assault? Swearing and bullying. He tends to spit words of fire, that are colorfully abused. Loud mouthed, mean, and insulting, he will bully anyone to try and get a rise out of them. Then, he can be alone, and doesn't have to deal with others on top of his own problems. Unfortunately, his aversion to killing, is reflected in his fighting skills too. A mighty bark, but he can only go so far to back up his words against others in a fight.

He doesn't remember much about his childhood. Memories tend to cloud and pain his mind, so he chooses to ignore them. There was never anyone around to teach him who he was, or how to fend for himself.

One winter, he gets too stubborn for his own good, and pushes himself to the point of starvation in search of meat. Arcadia finds him, and takes pity on him. This is the first time he couldn't push someone away with his words. He doesn't understand why she would stick around, care for him, and not be put off by his attitude. Vapor is intimidated having someone in close proximity, then add her size, a few extra wings, paint, and eyes. He tends to hush up quick when she buffets him with wing and paint, to silence his harsh words. With her caring for him, he follows along, perplexed by everything that she is, and does for him. There's respect somewhere in there, or maybe love. Vapor would never admit it, if he even understood either of the emotions.

He enjoys butting heads with Veri on occasion. It gives him a chance to drop to old habbits of being mouthy, and volatile. He tries to be somewhat careful how far he pushes. There's a fear of being dropped by them, if he hurts them too much. Some days though, he's uncontrollably difficult to all of them, and gets angry with himself and the world. He's extra guarded around Milli, because he feels he owes her more, in payment for the way he can act around Veri.

As a father, he's the "Yup, those are my kids." kind of stallion. This family never imagined they'd have a fourth kid to raise, and has to keep Vapor in check just as much as the young from time to time. He's going to always be irresponsible, loud mouthed, and self centered. This is his first time being a part of a family. They are old learning, old habits die hard.

When the foals are born, it will bring out a curiousness for the way a young soquili growing up experiences life. This coupled with the tolerance Arcadia and Milli give him, is all that keeps him around.

Mother: Vermillion
About: A rather complicated mare to understand at times, Vermillion can be sweet or sour. Depending on 'who' you're speaking with. She has a split personality disorder that has made life a little difficult. But her anchor has always been her best friend, Arcadia. She adores her and both personalities are in agreement on their feelings. Veri is the more protective and bitchy side of Vermillion, quick to judge someone and even quicker to leap to Arcadia's aid. She's part Kalona and can have a bit of a temper. However her sweeter side, Milli, tampers this down. She is quite bubbly and loves adventure and meeting new people! She was the extatic one when Vapor came about, so happy for Arcadia. Veri, on the other hand, was not so giddy. She did not trust the stallion (really, she still doesn't...) but gave him a little leeway since he was of Kalona blood. Though she does seem to butt heads quite a bit with him.

Vermillion is very excited about the baskets and the prospect of foals. Both personas. Even if Veri heartily denies this!

Baskets

Lunadriel: Far left; blue-purple with bejeweled bow. Female.

    Name: Resurrection Sinclair
About: The smallest and last-born, Resurrection will be doing a lot of taking care of her father - keeping him in line, making sure he's fed, following him around. As he has such an aversion to hunting for himself, she will do much of it when she knows enough, often performing rituals over the critters to send them to a blessed afterlife. The afterlife is something she is fascinated with - before she was placed in her basket, Resurrection was stillborn. Her parents managed to resuscitate her and quickly placed her within, hoping the magic would keep her safe and alive. Since then, she has claimed to have "seen the light" and speaks often of continuing on the path of righteousness, though she may not always know what that is.

Mahogany Sunset's: Middle; dark lid with gold markings. Female.

    Name: Adoration Sinclair
About: Adoration, despite her size, is a highly timid, skittish, and nervous mare. She is one of the quietest members of her family - where each one of them is as varied as the colors of the rainbow in their mannerisms and quirks, Adoration is nearly "normal," which is strange in itself. Adoration's only quirk is that she feels a necessity to have some kind of covering on her at all times in order to keep her body protected. She can feel safe behind her wings temporarily, but a blanket or scarf is better long-term; the best solution is for her to be graced by the company of a snake. Usually that means that she has one wrapped about her neck or coiled atop her withers, but having one spiraled about a leg is not unknown. If she ever feels threatened, her need to have some kind of barrier between herself and the open air increases, and she will become frantic to the point of hyperventilation. To solve this, she has learned to self-soothe: fluffing up her feathers and burying herself in darkness and warmth until she can calm down, after which she lowers her wings to let the world see her again. If someone approaches her while she is fluffed up, her automatic reaction is to part her wings and flash a threat of her knife in their face.

Adoration is very modest and keeps a low profile. Praise flusters her, and taking credit for achievements she's lauded for makes her bashful (and it's rare enough that most of her family will be surprised if she ever does take credit for anything). This is especially true of her art - where her mother is a minimalist, Adoration experiments with wild splashes of colors and dyes. She gets much of her paint from her mother's paint blobs and isn't afraid to get it on herself - it's just another layer between her skin and the outside world. Working on her art is one of the few ways in which she can express herself, and she experiments with as many mediums as she can.

Notes on the Sisters: Adoration and Resurrection's relationship is one of protection and teasing. Resurrection takes care of Adoration just as she takes care of her father, though the sisters are very playful. Resurrection will throw a blanket over her sister's back when she looks stressed, or shield her with her wings, and often talks up Adoration's skill with a knife when someone bothers her. However, Resurrection also playfully "cries wolf" every once in a while when there is no one approaching, sometimes merely to give her sister more attention. Even though Resurrection is the smallest and youngest of the bunch, she is the one who stands up for her big sister.

As for Adoration's side of the relationship, she is ever grateful to her sister for protecting her, since she knows that it is often Resurrection that her parents often think needs the most protection. She does not disagree with them, of course, and wishes she could do more to protect Resurrection, but if she is without a security blanket, she can be rather helpless. She shows her appreciation in her art, often painting her sister with materials she's made herself; after all, her mother does not have paint blobs that are the right color. She admires Resurrection's strength and grace, and shows it every way she can, though she is very shy about it.

This foal will have some oddities to keep in mind: triwings and extra eyes, among other things. Make sure you are comfortable with roleplaying both of those before entering. The gender is male.

Please fill out the form below to enter.

Mad Hatter, or Just Mr. Hat?
Username: AstoriaFallen
Name: Genesis Sinclair "beginning" or " The coming into being of something; the origin"
Personality: Temper: Protective and very slightly overbearing at times.

In the beginning there was life and with it came Genesis and quickly after, his two sisters. Automatically he felt a strong desire to shield his sisters from everyone and everything. It didn't help at all that Adoration was timid, nervous AND skittish at least Resurrection was more level and was able to give him something to work with. There wasn't a whole lot he could do for Adoration except help to keep her covered with something, even if it was his own wings. Which he found to be daunting at times but he did it out of love. And to say he did it out of love was actually a huge feat for he didn't understand the emotion nor did he ever really want anything to do with it.

He is very cautious and judgmental of anyone who isn't family, let alone part of the herd. His siblings seemed to go through great lengths to help out their father and he didn't understand why they did that. Though he couldn't exactly judge, he was always getting after them to make sure they weren't getting into things they needn't be. And let someone even look at one of his sisters! Or hurt them. He wasn't the violent type but if someone even ruffled a feather they were going to be met with a ball of fury from the male. If he could help it they wouldn't ever find a life mate. He doubted there was anyone worthy of either of his sisters and if the time came that they found someone outside of his watchful gaze then they better prepare to be scrutinized to the fullest!

Needless to say, he is going to make sure his sisters have everything that HE thinks they need. Granted if they asked him for something he would go through great lengths to acquire whatever it was, be it mediums for paint or a new snake or cloth.

When it comes to his parents he thinks highly of his mothers and is rather unsure of his father. Maybe it was the whole "man of the family" thing or something but he didn't feel the exact need to want to bond with his father. Though he wouldn't mind poking his brain a bit to see what he thinks about a few things. He adores the Veri side of Vermillion and often tries to talk to her when that side of her is prevalent. He doesn't exactly care too much about the Milli side, though he accepts it non the less. Blood is blood and by golly he was going to be there for his family members. No matter who they were or how they acted.

His ideas about love are rather non existent. His underlying dedication to his sisters are indeed a form of love but to him true love doesn't exist in his mind. There may be a stubborn female out there with a sharp tongue that may catch his eye(s) one day, but for now the only important women in his life are his mothers and sisters.

Plot Ideas:

  • Where is your coat! (foal) (would have to get with sunset on this) Adoration has a panic attack of some sort because of lack of confinement and he makes a fuss about it because he had literally just gotten her a nice shawl type scarf that he had to go through great lengths to get.
  • You seriously need to eat (foal) Ressurrection is busy elsewhere and he notices his fathers lack of nourishment and confronts him about how he handles himself. He's not doing it to be mean, but out of caring. Which is a rather large shock to the male since he really wasn't sure how he felt about him.
  • A thirst for blood (foal) Discovers his like for the taste of meat. He's going to be out and about and suddenly devours a small rodent out of a random hankering and discovers his like for it, which makes him question a lot of things and ask his parents a thing or two.
  • Why can't we be friends? (juve if no juve then foal) He actually makes a friend. Which isn't something that comes naturally to him. Perhaps it's another male who has similar views or even someone who saves his butt from some perilous danger. Whatever it is he decides that NOT everyone is useless and he actually could enjoy the company of someone other than his siblings.
  • Love? (juve if no juve then foal) Obviously being a part of a very large herd and a very extended family you are going to of course grow up in the company of others. Perhaps there is someone who takes a fancy to him and he desperately tries to understand why that is. For he doesn't understand the emotion outside of his feelings for his sisters.
  • What was that?(adult) He happens to be around Arcadia when she has one of her snapping points and Vermillion isn't there for the end result and he's in total shock of what just happened. Mainly because he had no idea that she even ate meat, let alone needed it. He had always just been getting by on small rodents and thought maybe it was just him that did it. It gives him a more understanding as to why he eats meat and should continue to do so. He doesn't think any differently of her because of this, if anything it makes him more curious about her and actually questions why she forgoes eating meat. Especially if it leads to moments like this.
  • Just let me love you darn it all! I don't want to!!(adult) He meets a very stubborn, very brash and very enduring female whom absolutely seems to adore him and actually would be very good for him. He, on the other hand is just annoyed by her plights. To which he is going to turn to his sisters for help because maybe there is something there that he doesn't see?
  • You're going to be a daddy!! Seriously, why would I joke? (adult) Like most he does have the desire to find a special someone now and again and never honestly thought twice about the consequences. It was never really a love sort of a thing, more of a desire and now there are consequences of this and he is going to be a father. Him? What?!! This was NOT something he signed up for. He is going to do the right thing in the end because once they are born he feels this undesirable need to want to provide for them, much like he did for his sisters.
  • A trap? (adult) I want some sort of a plot here that involves him getting injured, though nothing life threatening. Trying to figure out a good idea as of yet. It would probably have to do with one of his children being used against him for something maybe.
  • will add more when I think of some

Prompt: It's the foal's first solstice ceremony, and it's time to declare its commitment to the family! The foal approaches the herd's totem with the knife it has just been given by one of its parents, and it knows what it must do: make a little cut, bleed a little blood, and become part of the herd. What thoughts run through its head? Pride? Fear? Something else entirely, perhaps? (Take care not to god mode other characters, as regular soquili RP does not allow that without permission. <3 )

Response:

He wasn't often proud, but today he was. Today was a very important day for him and his sisters. They would declare their commitment to their family and they would become a part of the herds history. He waited patiently, standing tall, wings folded against his muscular frame. He was more than ready for this moment, though his sister seemed a bit nervous. She was snugged in between Resurrection and himself and he leaned against her slightly to let her know it would be okay. It was time to go forth and he took the blade in his teeth and approached the totem and stared up upon it.

So many things ran through his mind. His heart raced in his chest and he turned and looked back at his family, at his sisters and then he smiled. Which was a rather rare sight. He looked back up and then turned and drew a gash across his left shoulder and instantly felt. Well, he felt empowered in that moment. Alive and whole all at once. "I pledge myself to my family and to the Herd. My breath is your breath, my blood is your blood and my life is your life. I will fight to uphold the laws and I will not falter in the path I have chosen." It was done. As the words escaped his muzzle the blood slowly trickled down his leg and he could smell the iron of it and it made him smile once more.

He turned and walked back to his father and handed him the knife to pass on to one of his sisters next. His moment had come and it had gone. It was now time for his sisters to shine.

--------------------- CHARACTER QUESTIONNAIRE ---------------------

Questionnaire:
These answers aren't required, but we would like to see them!

Question: The Sinclair Family teaches acceptance of the kalona breed's darker impulses, but this child knows that Arcadia and Vapor both have qualms about hunting. How does the foal feel about hunting? Does it feel the need to hunt, or is its blood diluted enough that it can subsist on greens alone?
Answer: Despite Arcadia and Vapor having qualms about hunting he has found that a part of him craves the taste of meat every now and again. As he discovered rather unexpectedly. He can survive on greens but there is a part of him that has a need for it and it doesn't entirely scare him, but it makes him cautious. Small rodents seem to do just fine for now and he hopes that it never gets to the point where he needs something more.

Question: How does the foal feel about art? Is it creative? Analytic? Indifferent?
Answer: He completely supports his sister with her love for art, but he doesn't particularly take to it that much. He will by all means help her get whatever she wants to complete a project but if you ask him to help he will probably give you a very serious expression and just stare at you for a moment and then shake his head. Indeed he can feel the expressions of what the artist is trying to portray, but he doesn't have an artistic bone in his body.

Question: What kind of relationship do you picture the foal having with its parents and siblings? Is it attached to any one or few of them in particular? What about extended family?
Answer: He is going to be extremely attached to his sisters. Mildly attached to his mothers and somewhat attached to his father. Though his feelings for his father might grow as he gets to know him more. As for extended family, he's only really keen to his close family members and is still going to be a little hesitant to get to know the rest of them. At least as a foal. As he gets older he will branch out and get to know the others on an acquainted level.

Question: This foal has discovered, after a little observation of several families, that its own family does not have quite a "normal" dynamic. Does this upset it, make it feel special, question things? Or can such a thing be brushed off?
Answer: After seeing how some of the other families were within the herd he took a look at his own family. He had honestly never given much thought about how others ran their ship and had solely focused on what was good for him and his family. He did find it curious, how it worked out. Though he did not question it. He had an undying loyalty for his siblings and his parents and he honestly didn't care in the least if they were different from the others. If anything he thought it made them more of a family because they were how they were.

Question: Coming from such a complicated family can be hard and/or create bonds stronger than time. How does the foal feel about all the different idiosyncrasies in the group? Does it have any of its own?
Answer: It was clear to him that his family was, a tad off. He honestly didn't think anything of it though. Even after having spent some time watching the other families within the herd. He loved Vermillion, especially the Veri side of her. He had been raised around it so he thought his family was normal and everyone else was just... Boring. Now, he thought Vapar had some issues. Seriously, his father needed to eat. He didn't press the issue too much mainly because his sister had it covered. As for Arcadia and her unwillingness to be touched? Well he could understand where she came from. Though in an emotional standpoint. He didn't understand love and all those mushy feelings. He did find it a bit odd how she acted the way she did at times but then again his whole family was rather unique. He wouldn't ever say they were odd and if he caught someone saying that he would definitely give them an earful.

Mad Hatter, or Just Mr. Hat?
Username: Ebonrune
Name: Vindication Sinclair (to afford justification for; justify)
Personality: Vindication is a bit of an energetic foal, who revels in making messes. As tactile as his mother is touch averse, he loves the feel of things and will quite readily roll onto his back in the dirt, kicking up his hooves (but only if he's sure Arcadia isn't around to scold him).
Closer to home, especially if his mother is nearby, his personality seems to pull a 180 and he'll be quiet with wings drawn close to make himself smaller. He fears being chastised, especially since he can't understand why it's so bad to make a mess, and tries to avoid drawing attention to himself. There's a middle ground with his sisters, the youngest of whom he adores and admires, and the older one who he wants to help protect. If Adoration is scared and Resurrection isn't there, he'll be the one to grab her blanket or mantle his wings over her. He's also the one who tries to push her to be less jumpy, but only if she's willing to try.
Plot Ideas:
Trying to talk Adoration into doing something she's uncertain of.
Spending time with Dad to get over his feelings about him and learn to be more patient. Probably involving hunting, or bringing food back because Resurrection wasn't around and Vapor needed to eat.
Just chilling with a family member or so, bonding time (getting to know the other characters IC)

--------------------- ROLEPLAY SECTION ---------------------

RP Examples: I've only got the one in Soquili, but I'll list it here anyway and do the 'Bonus RP'.
Copper Clouds

Bonus RP: [Reason for filling out: zero soquili or bonus points.]

Response: Vindication didn't know what he felt as he carried the knife in his teeth to the totem, looking upon it with his gut feeling like it was tied up in knots. He'd already shown his loyalty to his family, but now it was time to declare it officially. Pain he was no stranger to, for he had certainly had his share of scrapes and bumps, but steeling himself for the cut took more courage than he had realized it might. Not for the wound he was about to inflict, but for what it meant.
He shifted his grip on the handle and lifted a leg, lowering his head for a quick slash. The pain was brief and he lowered his leg to look back at the totem before lowering his head to lay the knife there.
"My life, my spirit and my all to my family." He intoned. "For my sisters, my mothers and even my father I swear. I will protect, I will be strong. I will do what I must for the herd." His heart was committed, and so thusly was he.

Answer: Vindication not only can hunt, but he takes joy in it. The chase, the kill, it gives him an outlet to release his frustration. He can eat greens in small quantities, but much prefers the taste and texture of bloodied meat.

Question: How does the foal feel about art? Is it creative? Analytic? Indifferent?
Answer: He enjoys watching others create art and especially enjoys Adoration's creations. Since she doesn't take praise well, he shows his enjoyment simply by settling nearby when she's in a creative fit and watching. Perhaps when she's done he'll offer a 'that's pretty, sis', or 'I really like this one', but mostly he'll just offer her a smile and loving headbutt. Sometimes he'll draw in the dirt with a stick, but never near home for fear of Arcadia jumping on him for being destructive (whether she actually would or not)

Question: What kind of relationship do you picture the foal having with its parents and siblings? Is it attached to any one or few of them in particular? What about extended family?
Answer: I imagine he's close to his sisters, and when Resurrection isn't around, he's the one who's likely to watch out for Adoration. When he's old enough to hunt, he'll do so with or without family and try to bring it back with him. He's not at all close to his father, at least when he's a foal, though once he's an adult that relationship might shift. Vermillion (both personalities) he looks to as more of his mother than his real one, as he is not close to Arcadia at all. Extended family I would have to go by a case by case basis on how they would get along.

Question: This foal has discovered, after a little observation of several families, that its own family does not have quite a "normal" dynamic. Does this upset it, make it feel special, question things? Or can such a thing be brushed off?
Answer: He finds it quite upsetting, especially when comparing his mother to others. As a foal, he wouldn't be able to emphasize with Arcadia's touch issues and would see how easily it comes to other mothers and likely take it badly. Once grown he might come to understand differently however.

Question: Coming from such a complicated family can be hard and/or create bonds stronger than time. How does the foal feel about all the different idiosyncrasies in the group? Does it have any of its own?
Answer: Vindication would almost definitely get some kind of attraction/avoidance tick as he got older. Whether he would understand or reject the others oddness is something I would probably need to play out to really know for sure though.
He would have the strongest bond with perhaps Resurrection. Having a mother he feels is absent until he's done something wrong and a father who 'fails' as a hunter, as well as an extremely jumpy sister, he could develop trust issues as well as a protectiveness as bad as Resurrection's own. It would likely be Vermillion's presence that would keep him from going full out 'I can't rely on anyone but myself'.

Name: Benediction Sinclair
' Benediction:
noun - the utterance or bestowing of a blessing, especially at the end of a religious service; a service in which the congregation is blessed with the Blessed Sacrament, held mainly in the Roman Catholic Church; devout or formal invocation of blessedness; the state of being blessed.'

Personality:
Temper – Passive

Benediction is the quiet presence waiting in the wings, the shadow that is always there, but not often seen or acknowledged. That just is. He is quiet, mild-mannered, passive. Nothing like the brighter, louder personalities of other family members. He is most comfortable at night, or during spring/autumn, when it is neither too hot nor too cold. He prefers the temperate, being uncomfortable with extremes of any kind.

Like Arcadia, he does like to know anything and everything about his family- what they get up to, anything – though he won't actively seek out the information. He is particuarly fond of his sisters, though not to the point of being protective over them – he knows they can fight their own battles – but he will always be there for them, cheering them on, being their biggest supporter.

He does have tactile defensiveness to a degree. He prefers to show his affection through actions, small deeds or gifts to bring a smile to the object of said affections. All ths combines to make a somewhat naive, childlike being who prefers to go with the flow, rather than forge his own path through life.

Quirks

Obsessive-Compulsive disorder (OCD), minor -
Through his lineage, Benediction has diluted kalona blood, which in him manifests in the need to hunt, though not necessarily consume his prey. He hunts, because he has that primal urge. And he greatly enjoys the thrill of the hunt. And that final moment when he can feel the life of his prey slip away. This is his form of art – the art of the beautiful death. Evanescent, fleeting, beautiful while it lasts. With every death, he feels the need to say a little prayer over his prey, offering thanks to the spirits for the life he has taken, and the lives his actions will help.

Tactile Defensiveness-
While not nearly as sensitive to touch as Arcadia, or even to the degree of his sister, touch is uncomfortable at best, painful at worst. Anything more than light touch cuases his skin to crawl, and some pain in the area, if he is not fully mentally prepared for the touch, or unless he initiates it himself.

No Concept/Understanding of Morals-
Benediction does not understand the concepts of right and wrong. Good and evil. He might know the words and definitions, but other than that, it confuses him. In some circumstances killing is considered 'good', in others its not. He doesn't understand why it should be so complicated. So he refuses to try and understand them. To be bound by what are called morals. He will live his life in whatever manner he decides, and to hell with those who don't agree or understand or choose to condemn him.

Plot Ideas:
Aside from the usual family rp – building relationships with the parents and siblings and any of the extended family that might be interested in that, here are a few more specific plot ideas, though as always, they woud be subject to change and admendment based on experiences in any given rp...

1. How Long Till You Break: Benediction is an extremely passive, mild-mannered soquili, but given his blood and lineage, there must be a point where he will snap. Just what is that point and what happens when he finally does snap...
2. Are You Really My Family?: He is very different from almost all the members of his quirky family. Perhaps he has questions, and perhaps whichever parent (or possibly all three) he goes to might harbor similar questions, and they seek to find a common ground between them.
3. Sibling mischief that leads into actual trouble – prehaps a run-in with a vicious kalona or other predatory animal...

Response:

It was a brisk day. A perfect autumn day.
The day he would pledge himself to his family for good.

From the time he popped out of his basket, fully strong and ready to face the world, he knew of the ceremony he was to be a part of this day. It was his honor to be part of an illustrious family, an illustrious herd. And today, he would be bound futher by loyalty and blood to the family.

He was more than ready for this honor.

He took the knife from his mother proudly and made his way to the totem he would mark with his blood. To join the ranks of those who had gone before him, as well as those who would come after. 'This is my family, my blood.' He whispered as he took the knife and made the cut on his lower leg. 'My blood to theirs, my life and loyalty forever.'

He lifted the leg and smeared his blood. This stain would remain, a visible sign of his loyalty to his family, forever.

How does the foal feel about hunting? Does it feel the need to hunt, or is its blood diluted enough that it can subsist on greens alone?
Answer:  While Benediction doesn't need blood or meat in his diet to survive, he doesn't feel any qualms about hunting or taking life. He does offer up a prayer for everything he kills, and thanks the spirits for the life he has taken and the blood spilled.

Question: How does the foal feel about art? Is it creative? Analytic? Indifferent?
Answer:  While he doesn't understand art like his mother makes, he sees beauty in blood, and the fleetingness of life. He makes his prey into the form of art he can understand and appreciate.

Question: What kind of relationship do you picture the foal having with its parents and siblings? Is it attached to any one or few of them in particular? What about extended family?
Answer:
He feels love and loyalty for Arcadia, Vermillion and Vapor, like any child for their parent, but nothing stronger than that. No special attachment beyond the norm.

It is his sisters, who he feels the most for. He admires all Resurrection is and embodies, though he does feel jealousy that he is not more like her. Adoration, he out and out adores (pun intended). For her there is nothing he wouldn't do.

Question: This foal has discovered, after a little observation of several families, that its own family does not have quite a "normal" dynamic. Does this upset it, make it feel special, question things? Or can such a thing be brushed off?
Answer:
Having three parents is all Benediction has ever known. To him, that is normal. He feels something akin to pity for those with the so-called normal family unit.

Question: Coming from such a complicated family can be hard and/or create bonds stronger than time. How does the foal feel about all the different idiosyncrasies in the group? Does it have any of its own?
Answer:
Benediction has never known any different than the idiosyncrasies he is surrounded by on a daily basis in the form of his parents and siblings, so he has no real strong feelings about them. To him, they are normal, and a part of life. An attitude he will extend towards any soquili he meets.

For Benediction's idiosyncrasies, see above in the personality section.

Mad Hatter, or Just Mr. Hat?
Username: Celestial Requiem
Name: Phthalo Sinclair
Personality: Over-Compensating. There’s a lot to live up to in this family, even if his parents would argue otherwise. They’re The Cleavers, the Sinclair bloodline known for their skills with a knife. His mother and sisters are prolific painters. Phthalo holds the belief that these skills are necessary to be a true member of the family. Unfortunately, neither the art of the brush nor the art of the knife feel right to him. Which is why he’s always trying harder than he needs to in order to prove himself in both. He just needs to practice until it does feel right. This usually leads to a lot more chaos and a lot less success for the poor boy.

And, in fact, he takes this ‘I must prove myself’ approach to just about everything in life. Dad needs some food? Don’t worry, I’ll hunt for you! A bear would make a good meal, I bet. Adoration lost her blanket in the dangerous rapids? Don’t worry, I’ll get it! In all of his attempts to do good, Phthalo usually just ends up causing more trouble for himself and everyone around him. He either tries too hard and does something stupidly dangerous, or is just so clumsy that he ruins everything.

Of course, the constant failures and screw ups get to him. He often wonders if he’s cut out to be a part of this family or if he’ll ever find anything he’s actually good at. In spite of his inner turmoil though, he manages to keep a positive attitude around his family.

Plot Ideas: I like to keep things pretty open as far as plots go, letting current interactions develop future plots. But, I do have some general ideas on what I’d like to happen for him.

-He’s a boy who manages to get himself into trouble at least several times a day. It’s always fun to drag others into that trouble and he’ll make plenty of friends and enemies because of
it.

-Trying to keep a sunny disposition when you feel like you don’t belong is quite a taxing task. His struggle with that, and possibly slipping up around the family could lead to things down the line.

-Ultimately, I would like for him to find something that he’s actually good at. That he doesn’t have to try so hard to prove himself at. But that’s going to require a lot of trial and error. A lot of frustration, hopelessness, and despair leading to a ray of glorious success at last.

Response:
This was it. His moment to shine. A chance to prove himself to everyone. Not just his mothers or his sisters or his father, but the entire Sinclair herd. So many of them were watching now, all waiting for his act of declaration. It was such a simple thing, just a little nick on the side and a few drops of blood. Didn't need much skill with a knife for that. Right?

Of course he was nervous. The handle of the knife would surely show evidence of his canines later. It was all he could do to keep himself from shaking. It wasn't just nerves that wanted his body to quiver, though. There was a rush of excitement coursing through him as well. If he could do this right then maybe he could finally feel like a real member of this family. He just needed to make a cut. That's all.

And a cut he made. Phthalo reached his head around and dragged the knife across his side. It didn't even hurt at all, really. Just a little stinging sensation. He felt a sudden wave of relief. It was done. The rite of passage was complete and at last he was truly part of the Sinclair family. He turned to smile with pride at his mothers and sisters. But they were spinning and the light was growing dark. Others were rushing over to him now. The totem was entirely red. The ground was red. His side was red. And then everything was black.

Answer: Phthalo himself doesn't need meat. He could live a healthy life just eating grass. In all honesty, the taste of meat is pretty unpleasant to him. But because so many members of his family have to eat it to survive, he acts like he does as well. And he's always more than willing to hunt for his father, or anyone else who might need him to for one reason or another. He does feel a pang of guilt every time he takes a life and is grateful to Resurrection for the rituals she performs on anything he kills.

Question: How does the foal feel about art? Is it creative? Analytic? Indifferent?
Answer: Phthalo thinks his mother's and sister's artworks are nothing short of masterpieces. The way Adoration uses color always leaves him in awe. And how is mother manages to portray such emotion in the simplest of ways is astounding. He understands art and its complexities quite well. When it comes to making his own though, it just leads to frustration. He has so many images in his head but when he tries to put them down in paint it never works. Of course, he's still going to try and try and try...

Question: What kind of relationship do you picture the foal having with its parents and siblings? Is it attached to any one or few of them in particular? What about extended family?
Answer: His family means everything to him, why else would he try so hard all the time? Phthalo loves every single one of them with all his heart, father, mothers, sisters, even the extended members. And he knows they love him in return, in spite of his short comings. But his own insecurities leave him feeling left out frequently. The sisters are so close, his mothers have a strong bond, Resurrection and their father have a connection. Some times it feels like there's no room for him. He doesn't blame any of them, they try their best to give him the love he needs. He just has to learn a little self-love before he can get over all this.

Question: This foal has discovered, after a little observation of several families, that its own family does not have quite a "normal" dynamic. Does this upset it, make it feel special, question things? Or can such a thing be brushed off?
Answer: It makes Phthalo feel special. He feels like there's more love in his family because instead of two adults sharing their love and starting a family, he has three -or you could even say four. He doesn't care that Vermillion isn't his real mother. She raised him and his sisters just as Arcadia did, and she loves them just as much too. They are both his mother and he will fight anyone who says otherwise. He'll fight anyone who says anything negative about his family, actually. He may be a blundering mess most of the time, but he'll get his act together to knock someone's lights out if they trash talk anyone he cares for.

Question: Coming from such a complicated family can be hard and/or create bonds stronger than time. How does the foal feel about all the different idiosyncrasies in the group? Does it have any of its own?
Answer: He holds his family up on the highest of pedestals, so of course Phthalo sees nothing wrong with them. Yes, one of his mothers can't be touched and the other has a split personality. Yes, his father can't hunt for himself. Yes, Adoration has serious anxieties and Resurrection claims to have seen the light. These things are all part of who they are. Every Soquili has quirks that make them individual. Everyone except for him, of course. It's just another thing to tack on to the ever-growing list of reasons he doesn't fit in. As a foal, he'll some times fake oddities. Act like a completely different Soquili or complain about things hurting when they touch him. Mimicking his family in the hopes that something will stick and he'll be like the rest of them. By the time he's an adult he'll have learned that this behavior is not acceptable. It'll take a little longer for him understand that he doesn't need to be like them to feel accepted.

Name: Marcario Sinclair - Italian for "Blessed"
Personality:Temper- Psychopathic

Marcario is to put it frankly is a psychopath. He is manipulative and has little empathy for others. He is bold and can oftentimes be reckless due to this. He finds it very hard to attach himself to others emotionally. After finding this out about himself he had decided he would make a conscious effort to be good. Something he struggles with everyday with having to think on how his words and actions could hurt someone. Yet there are sometimes slip ups in this as sometimes his control isn't too great.

Marcario can be aggressive especially in his killings. Which he finds as a good way to just unleash his true self on some animal or being that will just be food. Killing is something he finds pleasure in and for it being food is just a good bonus. To him the act of killing is an art in itself.
Plot Ideas:

Foal rp
-The first kill- Marcario is a young foal and must learn to kill for food. The way he decides to learn is by watching his mothers kill. Wandering off a little bit he finds a fox and tries his hand at killing. He finds after he kills the fox that he enjoys killing.

- To cause harm- Marcario feels the urge to hurt someone. Deciding that his sister Adoration is a good target he snatches her scarf when it is almost off and watches to see how long it takes for her to freak out. All the while not feeling guilty or much emotion at all.

- A rude awakening-Marcario gets into trouble and gets lectured by a parent about his bad ways. Not knowing how he isn't normal it comes to a surprise when he is confronted with how he really is. Forcing him to rethink just how he wants to be.

- To try to change- Having been given a hard look into himself he decided that he needed to change. Trying to become good he notices his father needs to eat something. He goes out and kills something to bring back. All the while having to tell himself that he has to be good and that this is for his father. While wondering why he doesn't feel close to anyone.

Adult Rp's

- The struggle will always be there.- As he grown he always thought that being good would get easier. For a time he had been doing well. Then he goes into a relapse. He starts to try to manipulate someone into stealing something for him.

- To be the prey- A mare decides to try to get close to Marcario. In doing so, she gets on his nerves. Snapping at her he comes to realize that perhaps he can manipulate her. He tries but finds she won't have any of it. He comes to respect the mare and eventually becomes friends with her.

-Care for me, I dare you- The friend or a completely different soq starts to care for Marcario wanting to be more than friends. They try to express this and he just watches them not feeling any romantic ties at all. He tells them so and turns away but the other pursues this topic and they get in an argument. Then he is dared to do something. Not being able to resist the dare he spends more time with them. Eventually getting closer to the mare and coming to be fond of her.

- So...We are having kids- He ends up finding out that he is going to be a father. He is unsure on how this will work out.

- My children are here- Watching the baskets he finds that for the first time in his life that it is easy to get attached to anyone. He instantly is attached to his children.

Normal.. Like this is what he is supposed to do.After all this would be the good thing to do. He keeps thinking about that. It is after he looks at everyone there that he feels the want to be accepted and in that moment he makes the cut. He watches the blood with curiosity and satisfaction. How does the foal feel about hunting? Does it feel the need to hunt, or is its blood diluted enough that it can subsist on greens alone?
Answer: Marcario feels free when he hunts. Allowing himself to be fully him in those moments. Having no qualms at all about it. To him hunting is both a need and a recreational thing. Knowing that his father would need food at times just gives him more opportunities to be himself without having to constantly do the good thing.

Question: How does the foal feel about art? Is it creative? Analytic? Indifferent?
Answer: Marcario has a little different idea about art. Finding the act of killing an art in itself. Though when the thought presents itself to do art in the more.. traditional way he usually uses blood as his paint.. Don't worry. Only animal blood.

Question: What kind of relationship do you picture the foal having with its parents and siblings? Is it attached to any one or few of them in particular? What about extended family?
Answer: Marcario doesn't feel attached really to anyone on a close level. He knows he should, but he can't force himself to feel for them. So he is a bit detached in that regard. He has moments which he feels something for them, but doesn't usually act on them. Before he makes efforts his relationships are of being a troublemaker and a bit mean. Though after he is nicer and makes an effort to be interested.

Question: This foal has discovered, after a little observation of several families, that its own family does not have quite a "normal" dynamic. Does this upset it, make it feel special, question things? Or can such a thing be brushed off?
Answer: He just brushes it off as really he doesn't really have the concept of normal. To him he and his family are normal. The others just have their own norms.

Question: Coming from such a complicated family can be hard and/or create bonds stronger than time. How does the foal feel about all the different idiosyncrasies in the group? Does it have any of its own?
Answer: He doesn't really see them any differently. He just has come to accept that it is how it is. His idiosyncrasies is his psychopathic nature.

Inwardly conflicted, being born as the only son one would think he would gain some special favor. But Crux will feel that he pales in comparison and often living in his sister's shadows. He'll often torment himself at not living up to expectations. He often feels jealous of his sisters. So struggling in the self confidence department. He's methodical and sadly lacks his mother's creativity. He always means well... But sometimes it just doesn't work out.

Plot Ideas:

I wanted - I'd like for Crux as a foal to want to be closer to his mother. He'd use her art supplies and try to create art but he only ends up ruining Arcadia's things.

Pain is Bliss - After the Solstice ceremony Crux will realize that he enjoys pain. As a foal he'll pick fights regardless of if he can win. And it's a twofer, he gets attention solely for just him from his parents. As an adult he'll look into other means.

Belonging - I'd like for him to really connect with someone in the family that helps him feel grounded and accepted.

Response: Crucifixion had gone through the ceremony over and over in his head. His parents educated him and his sisters in it and what it meant. He couldn't wait to join the family and show them how much adored them and wanted to belong with them. And today was the day, he stood with his sisters and as expected everyone gathered around them as they walked to the totem. His red eyes darted around to look at his family. His knife in his mouth he started to mumble softly to himself.

As he then looked back the totem he turned his head and notice that everyone was looking at his sisters... He frowned as he kept mumbling softly. Well that was okay, even if no one really took notice of him, he would show everyone that he belonged. That he was loyal to them and would do anything. He would show them all. "For the family I will bleed." He pulled the blade across his shoulder and shivered from the enjoyment of the pain.

Answer: Crux doesn't feel a 'need' to hunt. He would do it more for the thrill of the chase.

Question: How does the foal feel about art? Is it creative? Analytic? Indifferent?
Answer: He desperately wants to be creative but has no natural knack for it. And thus he feels that he's let his mother down. He never really gives up trying but more often than not he'll end up ruining/breaking things.

Question: What kind of relationship do you picture the foal having with its parents and siblings? Is it attached to any one or few of them in particular? What about extended family?
Answer: I feel that Crux will desperately want to be close to his family. But won't really know how to connect with them. I'm hoping that he'll find someone in the extended family that he could connect with.

Question: This foal has discovered, after a little observation of several families, that its own family does not have quite a "normal" dynamic. Does this upset it, make it feel special, question things? Or can such a thing be brushed off?
Answer: He would be indifferent; to him, his family is the norm. But it will help him question the dynamic of his and others family, hoping to understand himself better.

Question: Coming from such a complicated family can be hard and/or create bonds stronger than time. How does the foal feel about all the different idiosyncrasies in the group? Does it have any of its own?
Answer: He's gains pleasure/gratification from physical pain, the opposite of his mother.

Mad Hatter, or Just Mr. Hat?
Username: Deejaye
Name: Innovation Sinclair (Innovate for short; innovation is a new method, idea, product, etc.)
Personality: Innovate is serious and observant. He is more of the intellectual type; he prefers to analyze his surroundings, whether they’re other soquili, art, or just the world around him. This doesn’t mean he’s a loner or quiet! He will strike up a conversation and doesn't mind being pulled into discussions; however, he might come off as a little awkward and maybe even pretentious to some due to wording things oddly and using unusual words that could have been said in a simpler way.

He feels very strongly for his family and values familial bonds. To him, his family and herd is the world and his #1.

Plot Ideas:

  • Hunting’s not for me Probably will be a solo RP unless a family member or something wants to join in! Innovate’s inner kalona wants some flesh so he decides to go hunting; finding his prey, he pins it down and goes for the killing blow when he starts to screech/shrill/whatever, causing him to feel like he’s drowning all of a sudden. This would probably be the first sign that he has synesthesia, which would cause his to further investigate this new revelation about himself as well as turn him off from hunting and other loud activities.
  • Your kind of hunting Innovate’s finally learned hunting isn’t for him; but he still has the kalona impulses for blood. Like Vapor, he doesn’t like the hunt, but wants to satisfy the urges. Resurrection is unfortunately pre-occupied for the moment and cannot assist her papa with hunting, so Innovate volunteers to tag along. Would love for the dad and son to be able to bond over scavenging for fresh meat so that Innovate can get a taste for flesh.
  • Conquering Flutterphobia Poor Innovate can’t stand the sound of insects buzzing or the wings twitching or anything like that due to his auditory-tactile synesthesia. By adulthood, the noise bugs (haha puns) him so much that he develops a little bit of entomophobia (fear of bugs) which then goes even further to translate into a fear of flutters (especially the more insect-y looking ones). Would love for a flutter show him that he’s being crazy and that their species isn’t so bad.
  • We’re different? (maybe, might scrap?) Innovate meets a family and when he starts talking about his three parents and questioning where the third parent is, he’ll get some odd looks, as well as being told that his family is different. This will make him a little surprised and cause him to ask one of his mama’s about it.

+ Family RP. I love family-oriented babbins so he’ll be all about sticking with his siblings and parents, and will feel especially torn when Vapor and Resurrection separate initially.
Not sure about others yet. I’m the kind of person that really loves to develop a character more after I start with some basic RP, basically get a feel for them! (Though I’ve been getting some ideas for him which has excited me a lot. (: Looove this family.)

--------------------- ROLEPLAY SECTION ---------------------

RP Examples:
I recently came back to Gaia and started RPing again for the first time in like, 2-3 years, so I don't have many (and I'm rusty ;_; ), but here are some samples:

[XXX]
[XXX]
[XXX]

(They're kind of slow-paced because I was really focused on coloring before I go on vacation! Which, btw, if I win, I’ll be in Europe u o u but I should be able to check the net on my phone every now and then.)

Bonus RP: [Reason for filling out: bonus points]
Prompt: It's the foal's first solstice ceremony, and it's time to declare its commitment to the family! The foal approaches the herd's totem with the knife it has just been given by one of its parents, and it knows what it must do: make a little cut, bleed a little blood, and become part of the herd. What thoughts run through its head? Pride? Fear? Something else entirely, perhaps? (Take care not to god mode other characters, as regular soquili RP does not allow that without permission. <3 )

Response: His time was coming – the day he had been patiently counting down until. And despite how his sisters might have felt about the ceremony, he realized he was sure of himself. Sure that this is what he wanted. He normally tried to overanalyze his feelings, or his family’s perception, or the actual event, but when the first solstice ceremony flashed in his mind, all he could do was obsessively repeat one word in his mind: Finally. He could feel his heart beat heavily in his chest and his nerves grow steadily. He couldn’t find a word for what he was feeling; there was simply no way to put to words what this sensation was. It wasn’t distress or anxiety or even pride, but…acceptance. Innovation felt as if he was starting his life; he would finally be able to commit to the herd – prove his worth to his family. It was as if he had been living a pre-life up to this. A preparation for his true life, which would finally start after the ceremony.

And as the ceremony started and it came to his turn, he approached the totem, every step assured and confident. He could feel all the eyes of the herd on him. He drew his cleaver out and pressed it against his flesh, pausing as the metal started to n** into him. Innovate hesitated for a moment; he wanted to turn his head to get a glimpse of his sisters’ reactions, see if they looked proud and excited for him, but he was sure looking around at all the watching faces would cause some fear. Instead, he imagined his younger sisters’ reactions when their time came in the ceremony: while Adoration might shrink from all the attention, he’d imagine Resurrection would proudly draw her blood.

Breaking back into reality, Innovation felt adrenaline rush through his veins. He pressed the blade down harder. It made a shallow cut and a small bit of blood trickled out, relieving him of the adrenaline and placing him back in a relaxed state. This is it. Your life starts now, he thought to himself.

Answer: Innovate has a non-stop lingering hunger for flesh due to his kalona blood. He, however, does not act on these impulses normally; I would love to have some sort of RP where he tries to hunt, but the shrill sounds his prey makes causes him to feel like he's being drowned (as mentioned in the plot section) which would set him back off from hunting.

After learning about how his father scavenges, he would take advantage of that technique (though it obviously has mixed results). Basically, if his urge for some flesh is too strong that he feels he can’t think straight, then he’ll indulge himself. Otherwise, he does his best to ignore the deep-rooted need.

Question: How does the foal feel about art? Is it creative? Analytic? Indifferent?
Answer: Innovate has come to terms that he is the analytical kind; he tried to dabble in art once or twice and experimented with Arcadia’s paints but found that he personally felt he lacked the creativity and talent. (Probably mixed the colors too much accidentally and made them look muddy! Poor kiddo) He instead enjoys watching his mother and sister paint because the sound of them painting helps him relax. He loves to examine the difference in the styles of both of the artists and tries to understand their artistic motive behind different pieces.

Question: What kind of relationship do you picture the foal having with its parents and siblings? Is it attached to any one or few of them in particular? What about extended family?
Answer: I feel that Innovate would have particularly strong bonds with his parents and especially with his siblings.
I'd picture Innovate would have an empathetic relationship with Arcadia. He could relate to her well; he could understand how touching/sensations could cause her extreme discomfort due to his own quirk. As mentioned above, he has a curiosity for art and therefore would love to watch mama Arcadia paint, because he’d feel very comforted by the artistic process. <3 As he grew older and capitalized more on his intellectual side, he would enjoy talking to Arcadia about her artwork and the meaning behind what she paints.

With his papa Vapor, if Vapor is excessively loud, he would probably feel pretty uncomfortable around him because of the reaction he gets from synesthesia. Otherwise, he’d look up to Vapor as a bit of a role model due to him being the only one other male as in the immediate family. He also would respect Vapor for his ability to not hunt, though the two’s reasons for not hunting are vastly different.

I think his relationship with Vermillion would be the most dynamic/changing due to her split personality; as his other mama, he would of course, love and respect her. He would more likely be cautious around her and want to watch her a little before he approached her to interact – this would be to see which personality was shining through, therefore what he’d deem the best way to converse with her. I think overall, he would get along with Milli immediately and would hope that her Veri-side would warm up to him.

As the oldest brother, Innovate would have some sort of self-imposed need to be protective of his sisters, though during his foalhood, through a little observation, he realizes it’s a little unnecessary since Resurrection is able to take care of herself well as well as Adoration a bit. He would probably then switch over to a more passive role in their lives or offer a more emotional support sort of role – willing to listen to them if they need to talk about their problems or offer advice if he feels they need it.

Probably should add this to the plot section but I’ll throw it here instead since I’d need confirmation with LunaD about it! u v u Basically when Vapor and Resurrection are about to take off, I think it would be neat for Resurrection to mention it to Innovate, to cause a little personal conflict with him; he’d tell her that they need to do what they feel is best and basically say it’s ok for them to go, though internally, he’ll feel sad about the whole situation, especially since he was aware of it before it happened.

With Adoration, he would probably feel the closest to; like how he enjoys watching Arcadia paint, he would enjoy watching Adoration’s more um, expressive and energetic form of painting and would enjoy talking to her about his synesthesia, and how the “good feels” translate to the cozy feeling. He would try to coax some more self-confidence out of her and would definitely be patient with her skittish personality.

As for extended family… well, overall, his fondness for family will make him automatically want to like them, but I think actual interactions will allow him to make his own opinions on ‘em!

Question: This foal has discovered, after a little observation of several families, that its own family does not have quite a "normal" dynamic. Does this upset it, make it feel special, question things? Or can such a thing be brushed off?
Answer: I think it would upset him at first; he would feel a little confused as to why his family is different and want to ask one of his parents about it. Over time though, he would shrug it off because he realizes that who your parents are, how many parents you have, or whether they are biological or adoptive, makes no difference and all that matters is if you value them. It would essentially allow him to be a little prideful about his family situation and not be embarrassed or uncomfortable with expressing the ideas to others.

Question: Coming from such a complicated family can be hard and/or create bonds stronger than time. How does the foal feel about all the different idiosyncrasies in the group? Does it have any of its own?
Answer: Innovate does not see anything wrong with the idiosyncrasies of his family, but rather sees them as what makes everyone an individual. He would find a way to respect everyone for their quirks and be extremely cautious as to not step on toes (err hooves?) and disrespect someone accidentally or cause them some form of discomfort.

Innovate's quirk is that he has auditory-tactile synesthesia, meaning sounds can induce sensation/feelings on parts of the body. Certain words or sounds will "trigger" him, causing him to feel not like, actual physical pain like he’s being attacked, but rather discomfort. I pretty much wanted to divide it up into ‘bad feels’ and ‘good feels.’ For the "bad feels" I'm leaning towards loud noises like a tree falling or screaming. I was thinking insect buzzing as well, which would cause him to get a bit of a phobia of flutters (especially the more buggy-looking ones!), which would go for some interesting RP! Getting back on topic, these sounds would have him feel physically uncomfortable, like he's submerged underwater and drowning.

For good feels, I was thinking cooing and the sound of brush strokes would make him feel cozy, like he’s wrapped in a blanket. Which would mean he’d love to watch Arcadia paint/do art. Still working this part out though. u v u

Name: Zealots Sinclair Zealots is from the Greek phrase "to be enthusiastic." Originally, the name of a small group of Pharisees in 1st Century CE Judea who used terrorist tactics to attack the occupying Roman Army. Their goal was religious and political independence from Rome. The term has since evolved to refer to any extreme radical religious group or individual.
Personality: Zealots is one of those stallions that would rather find a forever mate then any old fling. But there is something that anyone trying to try his heart would need and that is wings. His wing fetish is that strong that he would never fling or even flirt with one that has no wings. Set in stone in his mind that wings will forever be a must in order to win him over.

Zealots is normally an easy going stallion. But there are times it is like he is someone else. Sometimes not even answering to his own name. As if he isn't Zealots. Like he is waiting to answer by another name. But this is only for short periods of time. And it only happens from time to time. Far between each episode.

Mad Hatter, or Just Mr. Hat?
Username: RockerWolfie1616
Name: Honor Strife Sinclair (Strife is his other half, please see below for more details)
Personality: (Please see the questionnaire below for a deeper view into his psyche and why his personality seems so crazy!)

Secondary Persona
Erratic; This will manifest itself as a sort of restlessness (like ADD in kids xD ) he cannot stand to be still for too long and, even if Arcadia reprimands him Strife finds it quite difficult to not rip up grass, kick up dirt or be a super messy little foal who leaves a tiny trail of chaos wherever he's goes/has been. As he grows Honor will try to calm down but, most likely fail in most instances; especially when faced with something new or when put into an intense situation.

Vindictive; When it comes to more tense situations it will become clear to all of Strife's family that he has issues with his temper. Where many would forgive & forget he's plotting his grand revenge (let me note that he is not a truly evil stallion but, his darker persona does tip toe on the line of darkness/viciousness) If someone were to harm Strife or his family he will have a strong, overwhelming desire to seek revenge. Nothing will stand in his way.

Strife is the darker half of Honor..he has his own personality and quirks as well as tastes (food wise), Honor will claim from a young age that he has a brother even though he technically only has sisters. At that point Strife will begin to take control and run wild. He's highly intelligent, Erratic, Vindictive and mischievous. Strife loves when things are crazy..he adores watching Veri & Vapor when they fight or butt heads. While he does not wish to cause harm to his family unit it is in this little soul to be on the more vicious side of things. Argumentative & loud..he'll likely want to spend most of his time around Veri or Vapor..and will love tormenting his sisters (though not enough to truly harm them..just brotherly antics).

Main Persona

Honor is all that is just & good in the world..he is the more dominant persona.

Tainted; No matter how kind & good Honor might be there is always a lingering sort of darkness around him..and even when he's being nice Strife's voice is always there whispering. So while he is dominant 60% of the time that doesn't mean Honor will always be 'on his best behavior'. Sometimes a little Strife leaks through ;D

Driven; When it comes to goals, aspirations etc Honor reaches for the stars! Nothing will hold him back from getting what he wants..not even the voice in his head or the sometimes irritable personality of his other half. Imagine waking up to find an art project that's so nice and orderly turned all erratic and splotchy. In a way Strife's wild nature drives Honor to be even better..to act kindly and be more gentle. To do something good while he's alive.

Honorable; There is a certain knightly quality to him..not the kind of knight that helps damsels distress unless they happen to be his sisters. His very name is honor after all..so he always tries to be kind & just. To not judge harshly or over react. Honor also tries to be conscious of where he steps and what he does because of Arcadia; it is his love of her that led him to be more gentle. To work on being a gentleman when necessary.

Loyal; Family means everything; both sides agree that protecting & being loyal to their family and herd are very important! Likewise I see Strife / Honor being a loyal mate (though he may be in a group pairing) even if that happens they'd be forever loyal to whomever becomes special..or becomes a mate.

Artistic; Both Strife and Honor have an artistic streak however each has their own conflicting ideas about what is beautiful. Strife adores the macabre side of art! From fresh blood to bones, pelts, fangs and feathers he can often be found using unusual things in his art. Honor on the flip side loves simplistic & beautiful pieces of art..he's very neat/tidy when it comes to painting. He's always prepared to go rinse off after a good art session. This is a conflicting thing for both persona's and often ends with Honor arguing with Strife (talking to himself angrily) because his other messy half will often ruin one of his perfectly pretty completed pieces.

All in all Strife & Honor need one another to survive, my idea was to have it be that while in the womb he had a twin but, before the twin could form Honor took his twin in..and thus became a different kind of split personality.

Plot Ideas: These are all vague and will change as he grows or, might be combined into more concrete ideas later!

Stop Ruining my art: For what feels like the hundredth time Honor awakens to find his gorgeous piece of art work ruined by his less neat other half Strife. I'd love for someone other than a family member to hear the argument that with occur and perhaps when they stumble upon Honor & realize he's not arguing with a sibling but, with himself. Whatever happens after that would be up to the other rper. But, I could see either a lesson or some funny stuff happening.

I'm not crazy...right?- Another foal happens to meet Honor and after talking for a bit they notice he's a bit off. Maybe they hear him whispering to Strife or perhaps Strife makes a grandiose entrance and insists that he's a totally different soquili from Honor. this could lead to a fight, some bullying or a friendship but..I think I want someone to finally call Strife/Honor crazy. This will lead to either vehement denial or confusion and maybe even tears (depends on who is in control or active). Following this they will begin to question..to talk to Verimillion and Arcadia perhaps along the lines of ' Am I crazy? I thought it was normal..is something wrong with me/us?'

Vermillion's the only one that gets me! (teenage angst alert) - As he grows and get's to know more about their family Strife will grow ever closer to Vermillion. He adores both halves of her..often clinging to the mare more than he does to his own mother. It's not that Strife doesn't love Arcadia it's that he feels more connected to Vermillion because they have a similar 'condition'. I'd like for Strife to one day have a terrible problem or be super upset and when someone else tries to help he'll outright only wanna talk to Veri..or say that Veri is the only one that really gets him (it's not true and he will learn that..maybe one of his sisters will do something to cheer him up etc. Depends on who wants to rp e w e ) Strife will of course learn that the other members of his family get him/love him too even if they don't live with another 'soquili inside their head'.

I will avenge you - Might be Self Roleplay, Depends. Adulthood plot
Honor & Strife fall in love for the first time but, something or someone critically injures the one they have fallen for. The mare/stallion dies tragically and Strife takes over /becomes dominant for the first time. It is then that he'll go on a hunt for vengeance and become separated from the family for a few months while wallowing in his grief and anger. He doesn't want to lash out at those he loves most..so he'll separate from them to seek revenge. It will either A) Fail terribly and leave him injured. B) He'll get the vengeance but, when Honor takes back control he'll feel a whole lot of sorrow for taking another soquili's life for the first time (even if they killed his beloved) or C) He'll be unable to get vengeance and go back home to lick his wounds. After this it would be really hard for them to love again & when they do find love..they'd want someone strong or be super protective/paranoid.

Family is everything - Just any family roleplay where they get to connect and learn or grow would be awesome! He'll need them for the future..to be his safe haven.

Learning to accept Strife- From foal hood to adult hood they will butt heads with each other constantly. One day I want either a self rp or maybe a rp with his mothers where Honor speaks honestly and tells them that he has finally accepted Strife for who he is..that he wants to stop fighting and live more harmoniously with his other half.

Swimming! -Just a fun swimming roleplay with Arcadia x Honor <3 Cuteness. Maybe her teaching him some fun tricks and perhaps him being able to get closer to her.

I wanna be perfect!: Honor strives so hard to excel..I'd love it if he learned a few lessons by falling flat on his face when it's time to learn how to fly xDD
It would cause a lot of anger but, would be good for his development. I'd like if maybe Vapor were there to kinda pick at him or push his buttons playfully which in the end will make honor mad enough to fly all by himself for the first time.

I have more ideas but, just didn't wanna ramble too much. > v<'

Prompt: It's the foal's first solstice ceremony, and it's time to declare its commitment to the family! What thoughts run through its head? Pride? Fear? Something else entirely, perhaps? (Take care not to god mode other characters, as regular soquili RP does not allow that without permission. <3 )

Response: There it stood, illuminated by moonlight and surrounded by his dear family. Tonight was the night all of them had been waiting for..the night when the three youngest herd members would declare their commitment to the Sinclair family. Honor walked with a purpose, heart hammering within his lean chest the young male faced the totem with a glint of pride. Head bowing low he easily slipped the dagger over his flesh..internally wincing at the sting of pain while outwardly remaining calm. As the red droplets flowed freely Honor solemnly whispered a few words..words of thanks for not only his life but, for the lives of his sisters. Words of honor to the family in which he'd been raised and as the family all gathered around the herd's totem he whispered so only his ears would capture the words. "Thank you as well..for my brother Strife. Without him..I am incomplete." With that said and a smile brightening his face the foal raced off to find Resurrection & Adoration so they might play together among the bright moonlight.

Answer: Honor- He does not partake of meat but, occasionally will want to drink blood. Since Arcadia and Vapor have qualms about hunting he'd most likely avoid doing it around them..and always be sure to clean up after having blood.

Strife- Loves to hunt and uses the remnants from the hunts for art work; though he loves chaos he'd avoid causing too much drama by dragging home a bloody kill around Vapor or Arcadia. He might be naughty but, Honor keeps him in line when it comes to hurting their family or going too far.

Question: How does the foal feel about art? Is it creative? Analytic? Indifferent?
Answer: See Above ^ ^
They both like art in their own unique ways

Question: What kind of relationship do you picture the foal having with its parents and siblings? Is it attached to any one or few of them in particular? What about extended family?
Answer: Honor- Loves spending quality time with Arcadia and both of his sisters! He's all about family; he cannot wait to meet more of their large line of cousins, aunts, uncles etc etc. His relationships will be solid..he adores all of them in their own way but, is closer to the three mentioned above.

Strife- While he enjoys all family this little rotten male mostly spends his time irritating his siblings or hanging all over Veri & Vapor. Their clashing personalities and natures make him all happy/giddy. Causing trouble, being mischievous and having a good old fashioned 'wrestling' match are his ideas of a good time. That or watching an argument unfold.

Question: This foal has discovered, after a little observation of several families, that its own family does not have quite a "normal" dynamic. Does this upset it, make it feel special, question things? Or can such a thing be brushed off?
Answer: Honor - He'd most likely be curious and question his family unit about the differences but, as he grows I see him living a similar life where both he and Strife find someone to love and they all become one poly family group!
Strife - He finds nothing wrong with it and he'd probably charge at anyone who would dare say anything bad about their family unit. To him it is perfection with all it's chaos.

Question: Coming from such a complicated family can be hard and/or create bonds stronger than time. How does the foal feel about all the different idiosyncrasies in the group? Does it have any of its own?
Answer: See Above But, I'll still answer u v u
Honor- When it comes to their family he finds the complications only make them all stronger not just as individuals but, as a family! Steel sharpens steel. He has his own issues as stated above and his own odd thought process so Honor doesn't really judge them or feel too strongly over how the others choose to live out their lives (as long as they are safe/happy he's cool like a cucumber)
Strife- Loves it. Chaos, disorder, the occasional verbal spat. It all makes him giddy! He loves the variety of emotions and personalities within their group..without them I think Strife would be rather bored and would get into even more mischief. All in all it's the differences of everyone that keeps him sane and let's him know it's okay to be a little nutty.
