[PRP] In the Trees (Xiu x Ngetal)

Ngetal had learned her lesson the first time she had traveled in the forest. She wouldn't be caught on the ground at such a disadvantage again. Granted the last time she had been traveling the forest, she had met her beautiful friend Ua, but still it had been quite a shock to have Ua pop out at her and Neta didn't want that to happen again. At least not if she could help it.

Ngetal slowly traversed the branches of the trees trying to figure out how best to help her friend Ua and Ua's beloved pride. A pride that Neta was loving more and more the longer she stayed. She tried to rake her brain for things she could do for the pride and its members, but aside from tutoring the young and keeping the elderly company, Neta didn't think she had much to offer. She was a fighter, but only when she had to be. She really preferred not to fight, but in the rogue lands there had been times when, to protect herself, and those she was watching over, she had of course fought. But this situation was different. The pride had fighters. And they had fought already. At least that's what Neta thought had happened that had so many members of the pride upset. She didn't know. She tried not to be nosy and didn't want to edge her way into business that she had no right knowing. Maybe talking to someone, to Ua or another pride member would give Ngetal some ideas of what to do to help and support the pride while she was here.

There wasn't a day that went by that Xiu didn't find herself walking on the ground. The others in the colony often ribbed her for it, but she still was not so used to moving in the trees that she would risk her neck trying to blend in.

Mostly she did it to annoy Ai. That overgrown cub could sneer at her all he wanted to from his branches, but when he needed treatment for his wounds he would have to come to her. That put a little pep in her step while she searched for vital herbs. The task was mundane at best, but it kept her mind off the annoying male.

The striped leopardess moved about the edges of the pride, hoping to find some of the plants she needed without having to actually go into the rogue lands. Xiu didn't even like being out this far, let alone back in those wild lands! Looking about nervously, she picked through the foliage, keen eyes watching for that one special plant...

The distant sound of movement down below on the forest floor had Neta freezing to listen. All the trouble with the pride she was staying with had her concerned - maybe even paranoid - that another lion attack would come. She didn't want that to happen. The pride didn't deserve all the negativity that had been coming their way. Ngetal debated heading back to grab a few guards and warriors, but in the end she decided that it would be foolish. She had the higher ground since she was up in the trees, and she didn't even know if the movement was from lions or monkeys or something along those lines. It would be extremely embarrassing to go retrieve some leopards when it could be nothing at all.

Ngetal hugged the tree branches and moved slowly and silently to see if she could spy what was moving on the forest floor. It took awhile before she was able to stop the black and white fur of the leopardess. Sighing in relief and very glad she had decided to not get guards, Ngetal cleared her throat, to let the other know she was not alone and to not startle her. "Hello. Are you a member of the pride inhabiting the forest?" Better safe then sorry. Assumptions were nasty things and Neta didn't want to fall into another one. It was completely possible the feline was a rogue just like her coming in from the rogue lands.

Not to be overly rude by perching so high above the other, Neta made her way down to the forest floor, sacrificing the high ground for the moment. She didn't want to hold a conversation with so much space between them that the two of them would have to shout. Besides, it was just as easy to get into a tree as it was to get out of it.

Turning her head towards the voice, Xiu responded in turn, "Yes I am." Her voice was a little surprised, if not pleasant, but wary. "I'm...going to guess that you aren't, then?" Her eyes briefly drifted to the trees above her. Obviously this leopardess had experience maneuvering in the branches, which might have meant she was a native member, but Xiu couldn't be too careful. As a newly joined rogue she didn't have everyone memorized yet. If she let in the wrong kind of leopard...

And yet, she had joined her on the forest floor. Xiu supposed that was some kind of trust builder. "Is there something I can help you with?"
