There should be no adjustment. The difference is that you aren't converting gc into your own gold, but an item from someone else, and someone else is converting the item into obscene amounts of gold. (but as logic looks like: [Gaiacash]=[item]=0 platinum it simplifies to [gaiacash]=0 platinum)

This part is good. but they just have to throw out the idea that users can buy gold with gaia cash. the market is unstable because people can turn real money into artificial inflation. Changing how the gold is flowing in doesn't change that it's still flowing in faster than it should be.
The original 2% market tax was put into place because people were using the market to buy gold shop items, and there was starting to be an inflation in item value because the shops weren't getting enough gold out of the system.
