Perhaps, had the situation been different, had the potential consequences been different, Celestia would have argued further for her own position. Perhaps she would have allowed her sister to follow her own path. But a conversation of this kind with a very-stressed chieftain that could easily be interpreted wrongly was not something to be had without support.
Celestia looked at Cadence, smiling, reassured that she would be joining the pair of them. She assumed it would work out that way, but it was good to have it confirmed nonetheless.
In the morning tomorrow... Yes... The princess could do such a thing. She would need to speak with Faroth, perhaps ask if the boys might stay with him for the night and into the morning under the premise of an last-minuted scheduled activity with her sister and niece. That much was true. It would also allow them each to calm themselves, mentally prepare themselves, for the struggle with Rais to come. "Tomorrow then... perhaps following the morning's meal? Those warmed by a meal tend to be more agreeable, in my experience, to those who have yet to eat. We might attend, finish our meal, and then ask to speak with him?" At this she paused, seeing if they might propose a different sort of action.

Smiling softly, Luna brought her hands into fists, this time a clench of determination. "After tomorrow's meal then." she agreed, nodding once with vigor. With her sister and niece, all three of them together, perhaps a small portion of luck might be on their side. Such as Emalyn well just quite busy or that Rais had already been informed. Laisidhiel willing, of course. She would of course though seek comfort in Stallion Justmo tonight. While she couldn't tell him of their exact plans he was still the only faun or faunie that could calm her nerves.
"Yes, after tomorrow's meal sounds fine to me. It will give me time to figure out what to tell Shining and the kids." she laughed softly if not a tad sheepishly. Shining had been just as clingy and protective since the blast, but it certainly was very cute. "Until then, ladies?" she smiled, thinking perhaps they'd want to part ways now to mentally prep in whatever way they did. Of course if they also happened to wish to continue talking she would remain and be of whatever assistance she could offer.

The morning's meal had feel particularly drawn-out this morning, her appetite all but lacking with the prospect of the conversation to come. It wasn't that she feared the Chieftain - how could she pledge loyalty to him if she had - but that she explicitly feared how he would react to this particular conversation at this particular period of time.
Not that it showed in her posture or tone.
Everything about her seemed to radiate confidence and inner peace, not unlike those days when she and Luna had ruled over Equestria.
Celestia had followed Luna's movements closely, changing pace and turning as she did so. As she stopped in front of the study, so did she. Eyes raising, she looked to Luna, then to Cadence, and again to Luna. Smiling, she gave a single nod.
"As you are ready, sister, let us begin."

Suspicious, yes...perhaps worth looking into. As long as we still have the manpower. Have to pull away from less likely concerns. The quill scratched the parchment briefly, crossing out a name while noting another. The Chieftain was so wrapped up in his notes, he almost dismissed the knock at the door. When it repeated and the door began to open, he started, hurriedly shoving the parchment out of sight. He aimed a suspicious glare towards the door, noting first the appearance of his adviser's mate. Noting her use of the word 'we' and her gesture, his eyes flickered towards the other two. Ah, her sister and their...niece, if he recalled?
The mild irritation he felt at being interrupted was quelled as he reminded himself that he did still have other duties to the Tree, which included dealing with any serious concerns of Laisidhiel's residents. Taking a deep breath, he tucked the parchment away for later and set the quill back in the ink bottle.
"Come in, ladies." He stood, moving to a side room to grab another chair for his guests, as he normally only had two. Returning, he added it to the others and waved politely for them to make themselves comfortable. Please, take a seat." He returned to his own seat.
"Now, what matter in particular has drawn your concern?"

As they were called, Celestia calmly entered after her sister and quietly waited as the Cheiftain prepared a space for them. Her hand reached up to twirl a single lock of hair for that intermediate time, the only physical indication that she remained nervous about this conversation. When the seat was ready, the princess moved to sit beside the other two with her, exchanging glances before they began their little spiel. Her hands pressed together to set atop her knees as it began.
First Cadence...
Then Luna...
It would be her turn now, wouldn't it? "Perhaps, even, another child of Laisidhiel? Young, but strong and full of life; not unlike its mother." She offered the slightest of smiles, carefully monitoring the Cheiftain's reaction to their words. Her plans were to let Luna take the initiative of the meeting, but to offer support and interjection as needed.
(I'm really sorry guys. My thesis is probably due next Friday and I haven't had the energy or time to rp)
Fea Line Feel free to let Luna drive the conversation.

Puzzling over what could have brought the group of Faunies to his office today, Rais was instantly put on alert as the conversation started. It wasn't the inquiry about his mother that concerned him...but the use of her name. Few living Faun knew her as any except the Earthmother...at least, as far as he had known. What did they know of his mother? Though his eyes narrowed in suspicion, his tone remained genial.
"I...have not. Not since the blast," he answered quietly, hands resting on the desk. "And I take it from your inquiry that you have no knowledge of her location either." He sighed with mild disappointment; hard to get his hopes up so easily after so long. If something had happened to her...he would know. Wouldn't he?
Then, where was she?
It seemed that her wellbeing wasn't their primary concern, however. They seemed more interested in whether she had discussed something with him? Wariness growing, he felt a tightness between his shoulders as his gaze passed from Luna to Celestia. Another tree? Young, strong, and full of life? A moment of irrational defensiveness entertained the thought of whether that was a jab at the injured Laisidhiel. Calming his ire, Rais looked from one Fauny to the next, judging.
"I have had no such conversations with my mother," the Chieftain said evenly. I think it best that you three explain yourselves fully. Not only clarify what it is you're referring to so indirectly, but also what this has to do with my mother...and why you know her name."
"Now."

It was already beginning as expected, but then Cadence felt that part of her would have felt more confused if he hadn't been. "Naturally, please allow me explain." Cadence offered, her gaze shifting from Celestia to Luna as if asking permission before speaking. "About two seasons ago all three of us received letters requesting us to meet its sender at the Ithyl Forest and was signed by the name... Emalyn." she said, eyes flickering back towards the chief.
"After much talk, we agreed to go of course." she paused, allowing that to sink in a moment for fear of pushing too much out at once. She eyed the other two Princesses with a soft smile before continuing. "When we arrived, your Mother, naturally, was the one to meet us as well as disclosed her name. What she had brought us there to see was....breath taking." she said softly, a sigh of awe escaping the pink princess's lips.
"Rochadhiel. Child of Laisidhiel. Sprouted from a lost acorn that found its way into the Silme pond. " Luna took over, her eyes this time not leaving the Chief's. He had given an order for an explanation and so they must comply. It was necessary to bring up the subject she wished to inquire from him. "Rochadhiel was being prepared to accept those willing to spread out and live within it. To establish an Earth presence on that part of the island. Those are the words your Mother used." she paused, collecting her thoughts before moving on. She shut her eyes to recall the words the Earthmother had spoken and thought weather or not to mention the other being they had met there.
Tia.
Did Rais know of her? If he did, was he accepting of her and whatever purpose she held in this world? Or was she a complete mystery all together and one best left unmentioned for the time being?
Deciding on the latter for now, Luna went on. "She had told us that she would confide all this in you and that we were to swear never to let news of this pass our lips until it was time." Luna confessed, though her features remained composed despite the many thoughts rampaging through her mind. "I feel that perhaps now may be time to do so..."

That... was not what the princess had been hoping to hear. This would have been a much simpler situation if he was at least aware of what was in the forest to the north, ready for some to come and make it their home. Sure, there would have been the question of why it was never brought up or mentioned to them, but at least the knowledge would have been there.
Unlike this...
Celestia sat quietly through Cadence's and Luna's explanations of the situation, her eyes glancing to each of them periodically out of support, but generally remaining on the Cheiftain's figure.
"Your mother, the Goddess Artemis, and to some extent her daughter Portia who watches over the Slime Pond, have nurtured Rochadhiel well," she interjected before pausing, thinking back to its form and how beautiful it shone in the moonlight, almost like a small beacon of hope and a promise for the future. As her sister continued, she noticed the fine details she excluded, namely Tia, and made a mental note not to bring up the subject.
"We had hoped your mo-- Emalyn might have spoken to you prior to recent events..." The smile she had offered disappeared, her face returning to a calm, neutral state deceptive of her inner stress as her hands squeezed lightly. "Had we any inclination as to where she might be, we should have liked to ask her ourselves. Given the circumstances, however..."
"Given such knowledge, inaction would perhaps be the most selfish of actions one could take, would it not?"
(Yup. Thesis due in a week.)

The Chieftain's expression remained stony, glare shifting from one speaker to the next as they continued. Granted, the words Luna related certainly sounded like something his mother would say, but still his suspicion grew. His admission that his mother was still missing didn't seem to surprise any of them in the slightest. And if they had had such contact with her, shouldn't they be more concerned about her whereabouts? Unless, they knew more than they were letting on. His instincts were telling him that they were concealing something from him...
While the words and style sounded like something his mother would say...would she really suggest such a thing? Leaving Laisidhiel for a far away tree? Or was this some sort of trap? For their seeming lack of concern over her, Rais entertained the brief thought that perhaps this was because they knew something of his mother that they weren't sharing.
And leaving Laisidhiel? Dividing their people, especially in such a time of need? His fur bristled at the thought. Surely his mother would never have suggested such a thing. They may differ in opinion from time to time, but something of this much importance? No, surely not.
Rais' hardened stare remained fixed on Celestia, the last to speak. "Given...what knowledge exactly? Just what course of action is it that you're suggesting be taken? We've discussed my mother's absence, but I don't get the feeling that your selfless act that you're suggesting undertaking is a search for her."
He turned his glare on each princess in turn. "All you've told me is that there's supposedly some other tree out there, a child of Laisidhiel. Even if there's any truth to this, what exactly are you suggesting that has anything to do with any of you? If my mother did not discuss this with me, why then are you, when explicitly ordered not to discuss it? Why would she share this information with you and not with me? What does any of this have to do with any of you?"
