[PRP] Deadshot [Lukas x Lilac]

At some point, after the better part of a week trying to figure out the quirks of his odd weapon, the rumbling beast in the back of his mind had let Lukas in on a little secret: with a little flick of his thumb and a twist of his wrist, he could send the thing flying neatly through the air, turning something close range to something at least middling, instead.

Or, at least, theoretically it would fly neatly. In truth, instead, it seemed to wobble and spin and it had taken Lukas at least three days to figure out how to get it to go kind of straight.

Today he was working out the last of the quirks: standing in front of a series of targets on the training ground, brow furrowed in concentration, with one piercier idly spinning in his left palm while he carefully aimed the second and tossed it toward the center of one circle.

It hit closer to the edge, but at least it hit, and that was progress, even if it didn't look like much to outside observers.

After finishing most of the duties assigned for her day Lilac had gotten lost, or rather wandered off to stretch her legs. Long candy colored hair bounded behind her in a single ponytail as she approached the training grounds. Just the sight of the place bringing a chill up her spine, it hadn't been since that day that her feet had touched this ground. With the memory a furious rub over arms came checking for lumps and feeling a ghost sensation of burning.

Around the time she passed a few targets the moon trainees eye caught on a rather curious weapon being spun in a palm of another hunter. A moment to observe and Lilac smiled, clapping for the man as the target was hit. After all everyone needed encouragement right? A second to hesitate and she approached smiling, "seems difficult to handle."

Aprulz purred to life.

"It's a pain in the a**, and it doesn't help that I haven't thrown a damned thing in years." He recollected his weapon and only once it was back in his hand did Lukas turn -- pause -- his posture and tone adjusting to something friendlier and less brutal. He blinked a couple times, played through the last thing he'd said, and then smiled at her instead, teeth bright in his face.

"Sorry." And, maybe, he meant it. Or maybe he was trying to play her. "I used to be better at this, I'm finding it frustrating. Trying to figure out how to make use of what's been handed to me, no need to take it out on you."

The change of posture and tone were noted with a sweet smile, Lilac hadn't been offended and if anything she had adjusted already to the more gruff attitudes around the island. She was, had been a nurse, it was her job to be a people person. Stepping closer to the man it was then a little time was taken to examine his features. He was handsome in the way your mother warned you about which granted an even larger smile from the woman.

When the apology came palms were held up and shaken in a don't worry gesture. "It's not the worst way I've been greeted so you have that at least, and don't worry, it's not an easy process." Turning Lilac stretched and looked around the training grounds before back to the man, "you've just got to keep trying..and you'll get the hang of it u-uh.." Then she realized something vital as she tried to recall his name, "holy cow! I'm so sorry, so rude, " a hand went out and she laughed, "I'm Lilac, and you?"

Oops, way to be smooth Lilac.

"Lukas." He leaned in carefully, weapon desummoned so he wouldn't stab her as he took her hand: fingers curling around hers in an easy, lingering sort of way before he pulled back. His eyes lifted up over her head, then, to take in the grounds for a long moment, assessing. The smile still touching his mouth.

"I'm guessing you're not here just to watch me fail to hit a target." Back into focus, his eyes on hers and both eyebrows raised in question. "Do you need a partner, or are you going to smack around a dummy for a while?"

Lukas. The name was filed into memory along with face. Catching the look Lilac's gaze shifted as well, taking over the field with a deep inhale at the question. Lilac's lips pursed in thought, as if it would somehow help her come to an answer faster. She hadn't exactly spared before but the idea was entertaining and Aprulz was already purring into mind about how they should accept.

Blue eyes flickered back and she nodded happily, a hand moving up to take a silver dragon clip hiding in her hair. Holding it in hand fingers smooth over the accessory, "I'd be delighted to have a partner! Though I haven't exactly got much experience so don't expect much alright?" Chuckling she took a step back and summoned Aprulz. The weapon materialized into hand, a beautiful almost stained glass bardiche type of weapon that was nearly as long as the short woman. "That is if you're offering?" She flashed a smile hands locking around the weapon as she leaned forward on it a little.

"I'll be your dummy." It was breezy: alright because Lukas was saying it, though if the girl agreed, he might take a bit more offense. He rolled his shoulders, easing away from the training dummies to give them a little more room, all his focus returning onto Lilac with another flash of that too-wide smile, bright teeth. As easy-going as his tone was, that smile always held an edge of something slightly-less-friendly...

"You can take the first hit." And, as he said it, he gestured -- two fingered -- to his jaw, as if she was going to take a swing. It was probably a joke.

A light laugh sounded both for the idea of him being a dummy and as the man proceeded to tap his jaw. Lilac though was lost at the later, more so because she wasn't the type that got into physical fights often but then again it was easily written off as a man thing. Must be a man thing.

"Kay!" Grinning on a cheerful nod of determination the petite woman swung the weapon in hand up. Gaining a better grip as what muscle she did have flexed under the weight, a half running step forward and the spot pointed to was taken a shot at with a precise aim and swing of blade.

He didn't just stand and take it, at least: Lukas tried to dodge, at least a bit, and completely failed, the blow colliding with his shield with a surprising amount of force. It wiped away his smile, at least, and his return was weak. The talons of his weapon just briefly caught Lilac as he lashed out.

At least he didn't miss entirely. "Not bad!"

The fact that Lukas was actually fighting back tickled her into a little giggle, nothing meant offensively she was just happy. Happy to have a chance at an actual spar. When the talons clipped her sheild the impact was felt and Lilac responded in time, side stepping and swinging her whole weight into an over the head attack at the man. "You too, oooook get ready!!"

She was a weirdly intimidating sight, swinging like that, and for a moment Lukas just blinked at her -- stunned maybe. It meant her blow landed solidly and he flinched, darting in to try and kick her feet out from under her, and mostly jsut managing to clip her.

Lilac was enjoying herself, Aprulz as well as he growled to life in her head.



Lukas came at her feet and clipped the left foot, sending her half hopping half stumbling to the side on a giggle. "Good job, but now its my turn..." A pink tongue tip hung at the corner of her mouth as she rushed the man from the side, swiping for his side. Lacking an obvious real strategy since she had never fought before and just knew to hit the other person.

It wasn't that he was afraid to hit a girl, really, though it might have seemed that way by the catch of his weapon in the sleeve of her coat instead of skin, by the way Lukas glanced off instead of striking deep. No, it was simply a bad day, and it made his expression go cross, serious. No banter, now. Not while he was missing terribly. Just a frown that seemed genuinely annoyed.

Aprulz was humming with a charge but Lilac wasn't going to use it yet. No, she didn't think that much force would be necessary. Instead as Lukas snagged her coat she turned sweeping her weapon out at his feet.

Maybe Lukas was honestly, genuinely annoyed now -- because she hit hard, and it made his frown deepen and the monster move in the back of his mind. He struck back and it was a sharp gesture, with no reassurance behind it. Taking things too seriously, perhaps --

And he, certainly, would use his charge the second he could.
