User ImageKäle was still not completely sure how Soja had managed to get herself invited to this training session, but ever since she arrived he had been shooting concerned glances at her from the corner of his fiery orange eyse, waiting for her to do or say something horrible which would make him regret not telling her to leave as soon as she showed up.

Actually, he alternated these glances toward one sister with apologetic looks toward his other sister, Svana, with whom he was actually supposed to be training, and wanted to be training. The two of them were getting really good at working as a team, and he was convinced that with a little more practice they would be good enough for some captain to notice them and take them on their first viking. Or at least for their father to notice them and talk his captain into it.

"Are you ready?" he asked, directing the question toward Svana, who knew the standard exercises they went through whenever they met to train.

Asoiaf
User ImageSoja really couldn't have said what had prompted her to force her way into this training session. Perhaps it was because she was feeling bothered by how close and chummy all her siblings seemed to be with one another. Their thrall, Txur, tried to tell her that if she made herself more peaceful and less antagonistic she would have an easier time of it, but he was a flower-blooded outlander thrall and she tended to ignore what he had to say.

So maybe she was here to watch Käle and Svana and see if she could figure out what made their rapport so good when she couldn't seem to get along with anyone at all. Particularly since it had been even worse than usual since she and her siblings reached adolescence. Or maybe it wasn't a matter of understanding. Maybe she just wanted an excuse to hit her siblings. She could not really disregard that possibility.

"Ready for what?" she asked, deliberately interposing herself between Svana and Käle. Pay attention to me, dammit!

Tanakako
Just some background info: Asoiaf is not the tragic figure she makes herself out to be. She's mean and creepy and morbid all at once, and just happens to feel persecuted because she's a teen. Her life isn't awful and her siblings probably don't exclude her as much as she thinks.

Svana had already been at their usual training spot when the pair turned up. Shooting her brother a questioning look she silently steeled herself for an irritating few hours. It wasn't that she particularly disliked her sister... despite the younger's constant attempts to get under her skin, she just didn't understand Soja. Ok.. maybe she was more often annoyed at the other female than not, but it was hardly Svana's fault. All she wanted to do was spar and practice her skills. Something she and Kale had been doing since they were very young cubs. They had really started making progress too, now they were receiving proper training from older reavers, but Soja had never seemed interested and thus, they had very little in common..

Barely swallowing her exasperated sigh she shook her head faintly at her brother. She didn't blame him for Soja showing up. None of them had any real influence on their sister and she wouldn't expect Kale to take the brunt of her displeasure by trying to make her leave. So she gave her sibling a faint smile and nodded.

"Always!"

"We are sparring, Soja." She added patiently as the darker female stepped right between them, and incidentally into the middle of their sparring area.

Rearing up she took several steps backwards and surreptitiously to the side, trying to manoeuvre around their sister so they had room for their warm up spar. Dropping to her paws she nodded again, so that once he was in place, she could verbally start them off.

She sounds delightfull. XD Actually, she makes me want to throw my irritatingly crass and oppertunistic reaver at her some time. If she didn't try and kill him I'd be shocked. lol

User ImageKäle huffed an irritated sigh. Since Svana had explained to Soja what they were doing, he had hoped their sister would step out of the way, but it seemed that had been too much to hope, as Soja remained where she had planted herself, watching as Svana shifted.

"Sparring is a two-person activity," he reminded Soja a little less kindly than he might have done. "Perhaps you would like to take a turn after the two of us have gone a round. That way you can get a feel for the way we fight."

Käle had almost suggested that she could fight the loser, but every cub born into the pride knew that was an insult, and even though he had no idea what kind of fighter Soja was, he was not going to insult her by suggesting she could not hold her own against the winner in a fight between himself and Svana. Besides, he and Svana were about evenly matched, if one factored in his greater size and her greater dexterity.

Asoiaf
User ImageSoja scowled, angling her head so that both siblings could get the full benefit of her dark look. She could tell that she had been out-maneuvered, literally and figuratively, and she didn't like that. When Käle shifted so that she was basically no longer in between them at all her lip curled and the sharp tips of her teeth showed just a little against her dark fur.

"Fine," she agreed, deciding not to make a scene. Yet.

"No, actually. Wait. In the rogue lands fights aren't always one on one. A lot of the time reavers have to face more than one opponent, even if their opponents aren't as good at fighting. Why don't you attack Svana and I?"

She had been quick to make sure that this did not end up as a fight where she was pitted against the two of them, but other than that she thought her idea was pretty good. And if they didn't agree, it just supported her theory that she was the smart one in the litter.

Tanakako
She could certainly use the RP if you decide you want to do that.

Svana had been about to start the fight when Soja started to talk, again. Swallowing her irritated huff she patiently looked over at the other female. She didn't appreciate the glare, nor the subtle warning of those fangs and bared her own, disguising the action in a large yawn, giving Soja the full benefit of her long and glisteningly white canines.

Still, what Soja suggested did have merit, and Svana turned to look at Kale speculatively. It wasn't a bad idea, and while she and Kale would be working together out on a viking, they couldn't exactly go attack some random reaver as practice.. This at least would add a new element to their training today. And no way would Soja, whom Svana had never seen fight in any capacity, be able to stand up to the two of them.

Casting a brief glance at Soja again she also wondered if maybe sparring together would thaw her prickly sibling at all... she didn't like constantly having to watch for those barbed comments from someone who was supposed to have her back.

"What do you think, Kale? It would be different at least." She didn't think having Soja join one of them against the other would tip the scales overly much, and anyway she and Kale could swop and have Soja help him attack her in the second round.

Princess_Feylin
Sure! Though be warned he is a sleeze bag. I do plan for him to fall in love and actually work to improve himself, but right now he's just a somewhat sad male who believes every female in the pride is secretly in love with him. Despite quite violent evidence to the contrary. He is actually a decent fighter, or he would have been kicked out of Lucivar's viking band a long time ago. That, and Luci doesn't trust another captain not to outright kill Samael for insubordination...

User ImageWait, she said. Of course she would say that. He had known that she would be in the way, and he should have worked much, much harder to dissuade her from coming along. Now Soja was going to throw off their routine and practice and be argumentative just because she was, well, Soja. It was just like her.

Käle was so irritated by Soja that he actually didn't hear the rest of what she had suggested until Svana replied and didn't sound entirely opposed to whatever the idea had been. At that point he closed his eyes and tried to recall what else Soja had said. The fact that it wasn't an awful idea should have thrilled him, and perhaps if any other sibling had suggested it, it would have done, but he really just felt like he was walking into a set-up.

"It's not a bad idea," he grudgingly allowed. And then, proving that he and Svana really did think along similar wavelengths, he added, "Afterward you can take my side against Svana."

Asoiaf
User ImageSoja kept scowling as her idea was discussed, but it warmed the prickly cockles of her heart to have Svana take her side. Well, perhaps that was a bit strong. Svana hadn't shot the idea down, and with Käle, that would probably be enough to get him to go along with it, despite the glower he had shot in her direction as she proposed the idea.

So it wasn't entirely a surprise to her that Käle agreed once Svana didn't disagree, but it did please her. She was not so pleased that she actually cracked a smile or anything. That would have been completely out of character for her, and would undoubtedly have made both of them re-think their agreement, suspicious that she had some sinister ulterior motive or something.

"All right," she agreed with as much nonchalance as she could summon. It did not occur to her that this actually meant she'd be in two battles one after another, and that she might not be in shape for that.

Tanakako
I think that would be entertaining. Let's do it! (Aw..I love Samael. I remember when he first joined.)

PostPosted: Fri Jan 02, 2015 5:17 am
Nodding her head towards her brother in agreement, not at all surprised they had possessed the exact same thought at the same time, she shifted over to make room for Soja to join her.

"Rules, same as always? No under handed tactics. No going for the eyes, nose or undercarrage." The last was more for her brother's sake, and really... why the heck would she want to start digging about under him? The thought made her shiver slightly. Eww, just eww...

Pulling her mind back to the task at hand she waited for Soja to line up beside her. "We will have to freestyle this, since its different to normal. Kale, you ready?" Turning back to her brother she stretched out each leg, unsheathing and then re-sheathing her claws in preperation. They never used their claws in their sparing matches. After all, there would be plenty of time when they were actual reavers for them to aquire their scars.

Once both lions gave their agreement to her question, she grinned a challange at Kale and launched herself at him, leaping high with a neat twist with the intentioin of coming down on his far shoulder. The move was designed to throw an opponant off, but had the added advantage of leaving Soja plenty of room to move.

Sorry this took so long to reply to! I have to sit down and think and christmas was manic.
Looking forward to playing Samael against her! That should be hilarious.

User Image"Of course," Käle agreed. Just because Soja had invited herself along didn't mean he was going to change up the rules. They were sensible rules and he and Svana had spent some time working them out when they first started training.

He was glad when Svana outlined them though, since he was certain Soja wouldn't know them, and would not instinctively follow them. Frankly, he doubted she would follow them anyway if she actually got into the fighting, but at least she would know, and if she did break the rules, he could always say she couldn't train with them anymore. It was almost worth hoping she'd do so.

"Ready," he said when prompted, not even waiting to finish the word before twisting to one side, feinting toward Soja, who he was certain was the weakest link and more likely to flinch away from his attack than Svana. Plus, Svana was coming at him from above and there was no way to know where she would land.

Asoiaf
User ImageSoja was not ready, but she nodded anyway, trying to keep straight the rules her sister had set down. She hadn't had much time to think about them, or what Svana meant by "undercarriage," but she guessed that meant she wasn't allowed to castrate her brother. Even though she'd probably be doing the world a favor if she did.

As Käle had anticipated, Soja flinched away from his attack, not having been as ready as she claimed, but she at least kept her footing and managed to retaliate with an impressive snarl, at least. Too bad looks couldn't really kill. The look she directed Käle's way would have had him dead in the dirt, otherwise.

In a split second she realized that she may have made a mistake in thrusting herself into her siblings' practice session, but she would not back down now. She flexed her claws into the ground to give herself better traction and lunged forward, reaching for Käle with her forepaws, only remembering at the last moment to sheathe her claws once more.

Tanakako
Sorry for the delay. I've not really been feeling RPish lately.

Twisting in midair, tail whirling like a windmill, she stretched out all four legs as she plummeted back down, right on target only Kale was no longer there. Instead she caught hold of his rump, wrapping both forelegs round one hind leg more in an effort to avoid bouncing off of him and falling flat on her back than as any superior attack move. However she knew better than to cling there, for he could reach her with a well placed swipe. Instead she raked rock-scared pads down his side, imitating ripping his skin if her claws had been out before releasing him and jumping back. "First point!" Her clear voice rang out even as she dropped back and circled her two siblings. Casting a critical eye over Soja's stance as she lunged. "Keep your weight on your back legs for the launch." She called out before twisting quick as an eel and going for Kale's other side again, this time soft paws aimed at his face, seeking what would be a blinding swipe in a real fight.

User Image"Point," Käle acknowledged.

He should not have forgotten how freakishly flexible Svana could be when she put her mind to it. Because he totally believed that maneuver which had earned her point had been planned, not having been in a position to witness how she got there. He had been a little too busy trying to avoid Soja's lunge, which he only barely managed to do.

Like Svana, Käle fell back after the point, shifting to keep both sisters within view, which was not made any easier by the way that the two circled. Well, this wasn't supposed to be easy, he reminded himself, turning abruptly to face Svana's newest attack and meet it with one of his own, lashing out at her face, largely just to put his paws between hers and his face.

While he attacked Svana, Käle could not watch Soja, and that was an issue. In a real fight, he thought, he would have to hurt at least one of his attackers badly enough that they could not rejoin the fight and force him to divide his attention.

Asoiaf
User ImageWhen her lunge failed Soja was disappointed, and could not help growling in frustration, but she was not prepared to give up just yet. So what if Svana had been the only one to score a point so far? Soja had managed to avoid one of Käle's attacks, and he was obviously having a difficult time splitting his attention between his sisters. This was something Soja was certain she could work with.

She waited for Svana to make another move and engage their brother once more. As far as she was concerned, Svana was better suited for that. Soja felt that as the more intelligent sister (in her not so humble opinion) she was best suited for sneaky, clever attacks from the side while her opponent was distracted. Like by someone trying to blind him. That was good.

Soja dove past Svana and pivoted on one paw to perform an abrupt about-face and deliver a blow to the back of her brother's head which was meant to be at the very least a stunning one.

Tanakako
Tag. Sorry for the wait.

Forelegs slammed together as Svana was not fast enough in the recoil, and instead earned them both a fairly good bruise. Dropping back onto all four paws and ignoreing the slight twinge in her one front wrist she snarled with seeming savagry at her brother, though the second their sister kicked him in the head she winced in sympathy. Not altogether a move they encouraged in their sparring....

A little worried she didn't attack again but peered at Kale, wanting to be sure he didn't actually have an injury from that hit. If he did they would need to stop. The point was to practice fighting, not to actually injure each other. They would waste too many days recovering and it would only delay their practice.

She figured if he had to stop, her and Soja could practice together. She had to admit she was impressed with Soja considering the other female had never trained, not to Svana's knowladge anyway. Maybe their sister wasn't so strange after all.

User ImageKäle's head rang momentarily from the unexpected blow, but he shook it off. Had he been a lioness it would have been a more dangerous injury, perhaps, without having a mane to soften it. But he had a mane, and that helped. Still hurt though.

"Point," he granted Soja, beginning to think that he and Svana really ought to train more often with multiple opponents if he was doing so poorly against these two.

As a reminder for Soja (since Svana knew the rules) Käle took a moment to explain that three points was considered a win. They had not discussed previously whether this meant he had to get three points on each of his sisters, or collectively, but at the moment it hardly seemed to matter, since he hadn't scored a single one against either.

Asoiaf
User ImageSoja wanted to celebrate her successful attack, but she didn't think that would be appropriate at this juncture. Not with Käle lecturing about the rules. Okay, so it was good to know about the points system, which neither of her siblings had bothered to explain to her before they began. If she had known she just needed to touch her brother three times, well, this would be over in a trice.

The thought brought a decidedly dangerous and toothy grin to her face.

She slipped around to the side again, moving toward Käle's back. Not that she would make any of the aforementioned forbidden attacks (even though she thought they were stupid to proscribe them, as an enemy would almost certain attack in exactly those ways). But she could try to set him up for Svana's next attack, whatever that proved to be.

His sudden turn and strike to her shoulder caught her completely by surprise and threw her to the ground with a huff of suddenly expelled breath.

I tagged a thing!

Svana waited patiently while her brother spoke to Soja. Honestly she had forgotten her sister wouldn't simply know the rules, she and Käle had been sparring for so long it was pretty much second nature to both of them.

Once they were all ready again she circled round so Käle was between her and Soja. The instant he struck at their sister she sprang forwards onto his unprotected back, sinking her angs into his as-yet still growing mane. It would have been easy to get through the thickness to his spine but she didn't. By the time they were reaving together he would have grown it in properly and inrespect to the simple mechanics of nature, she pretnded it was all there now. Not that she was actually going for a killing bite, but he would feel her fangs for the point to be counted.

Dropping off only a breath later, before he could retaliate at her, she danced backwards, grinning. "I believe that is three points to us." She flashed the downed Soja a broad toothy smile, the second point had been hers after all.

"Now its you two against me."

User ImageWhen he felt his second sister's teeth barely scrape at what could have been a more lethal bite he went still and waited for her to disengage before shaking himself and stretching with a toothy grin the he just barely remembered to turn on both his sisters, and not just Svana.

Losing gracefully was a skill Käle had developed ages ago, when he and Svana had been basically the same size and it was basically luck that determined who won their sparring matches, rather than skill. They were still basically evenly matched, but she was quicker and he was more muscular, and still a good deal faster than others might think. Not that Svana would be fooled, knowing him as she did.

"We should do this more often," Käle observed softly to Svana as he moved into position. "You'll see. It's pretty damn hard."

He didn't say anything to Soja. What would be the point?

Asoiaf
User ImageSoja could not help feeling more than a little elated at her victory, even though it had been achieved as half of a pair, and not really even the more skilled half. She even returned Svana's smile. Briefly.

Her elation quickly faded, however, when she recalled that she would now have to be on a team with Käle against Svana. Really, she would have been happiest to take a break, but that didn't seem to be happening. Too bad. But she would deal with it. She was just as much a Stormborn as her siblings, and if they could keep going, so could she.

Soja planted her feet, sliding her claws out and then remembering herself and letting them slip back in. No claws. Right.

"Ready when you are," she said in a voice that she hoped didn't sound too breathless and tired.

Tanakako
Want to call it done with my post here?

Svana grinned at her brother with delighted anticipation. Yes, it had looked much harder to defend against two opponants, but she simply couldn't wait to try it for herself. It was, after all, a definate step up in their training. "We will have to find regular volenteers." She returned, determined to keep up this new exercise now they ahd discovered its merits.

Stepping backwards to put a little distance betwen herself and her two new opponantes, she flashed Soja a broad grin of encouragment. She ahd been surprised by their sister's desire to join them, and was pleased Soja had done so. She seemed less.. strange, more understandable now. And Svana couldn't but hope that this continued. Family was important and she much prefered this side of Soja to the one that was a total mystery to her. Maybe she would get to know her sister after all.

"Ready." She smirked, and then lunged. The fight was on.
