[Closes: 9pm EST - Thursday Dec 18th 2014]

The Low-down

Welcome to my little contest! The jist is rather straight forward, you and a partner will be playing for these two lovelies and the two mice. You and said partner will plot and conspire the backstory to both the soquili and the mice in question. The most creative entry will win and will be judges by a secret panel of judges including myself. You will be able to take the pair in many different directions, but if you decide to make them brother and sister this is binding. You will not be able to mate them later, they will remain as siblings. Likewise if you chose to not make them siblings you cannot make them so down the road.

Rules

.o1 - Follow all Gaia and Soquili rules.

.o2 - If you have won a Soquili or familiar in this event you are not eligible to enter - sorry!

.o3 - You and your partner will need to decide who is getting which Soquili, and which mouse will be paired with which pony. Its up to you!

.o4 - You may edit your posts up until the time of closing. If you do edit please make a note at the top of your post in red with the date and time for each edit. (so we know to re-read as some may be reading as the contest goes on.)

.o5 - Any questions please forward to myself, Tirokio in PM.

.o6 - If you chose to make either the Soquili or Mice related this action cannot be undone at any point. Likewise if you chose them not to be related, you cannot reverse this. RP staff will keep track of this.

These are the Words we've Woven

Entrants:
belloblossom [ Bloodstallion ; Icemouse ]
Nikkichomp [ Icemare ; Bloodmouse ]

Soquili's Relationship
Despite their father's suspicions, Malakai and Isjani are fully blood-related siblings. They love each other very much, though fully within the boundaries of sisterly/brotherly love. Instead of soul mates, think soul siblings! They've never been meant to stay away from each other very long, and they're bound together by a love so strong, it seems they could conquer anything at each other's sides.

Mice's Relationship
Neve and Keiran were born from the same wish, but by two different Soquili. They are connected through an energy from the Wishing Star, and they act as though they are siblings. They are each other's halves, but they are not as close as the Soquili siblings they're paired with.

How it all came to be

Malakai and Isjani were the most keen of siblings when they were foals. Thick as thieves they were, and so close that they seemed attached at the hip. They never wanted to be parted from each other, but as they were so young, they could hardly control their lives just yet. Not long after they popped from their baskets, their parents started fighting. Their father had a suspicion that the mare had cheated on him, as the son of the pair looked nothing like him nor his parents. Their mother in turn protested and said that perhaps their son took after one of their own parents, but the father was too distressed. He stole his daughter away one night, and despite Malakai's attempts to find his sister, he was unable.

As the two siblings grew up, their memories of each other were still fresh in their minds, though after they left their parents in search of each other, they were unable to. It was only when they became truly desperate that they decided to ask the stars above. Unbeknownst to them, the two siblings had chosen the same night, and the same star (The Wishing Star) to wish upon.

"Please." They asked, "Please help me find my brother/sister soon." They left with doubtful hearts, and traveled back to their homes, wondering if the star would grant their wish. When they awoke, they were surprised to see a companion at their side. Not their brother nor sister that they had asked for, but each had a mouse curled next to them, that bore an eerie resemblance to their sibling.

"Malakai/Isjani?" They asked the mice, who woke and replied.

"No, I'm Neve/Keiran, but I am here to help guide you to your sibling. Your love for your brother/sister was so strong, that the Wishing Star sent me to assist you. Come on now, we've got a long road ahead of us."

And with that, their journey began. Like their mice had said, it was a long journey, and not without challenges for the each other. But then, at long last, in a clearing in the Eastern Forest the siblings were finally reunited. They were so filled with relief that they collasped upon one another and lay down on the soft ground below them. They talked for hours, re-telling every moment of their lives since they had been separated. They talked of their parents, of their journey to find each other, and of their mousey companions. Never again, they promised one another, would they be separated for so long. They were blood siblings, and that would never change, for they loved each other so strongly, the heavens had bent to their will.

What the future holds
Now together, these siblings have little intention of leaving each other's sides. They go out on adventures together, accompanied by their familiars, and once again seem attached at the hip. They help each other through thick and thin, dealing with anything that comes their way, from traveling through from the western borders to the east to raising baskets from an unintentional one night stand.
Possible plots could include...
- "Mama? Papa? Er... Not Quite" Either of the siblings had an unintentional fling with third party, and now there's a basket for the two siblings to look after! How will this pair raise a foal as mother/father and aunt/uncle? Will the foal in question get the wrong impression and assume that the two are it's mother/father? Awkward comedy and life lessons for the future go around for all parties.
- "Learning to Love... Yourself" Malakai is often mistaken for a murderous stallion, given that his markings look like blood splattered upon him. Isjani is teased for her glowing white eyes. How do these Soquili learn to love the parts of themselves that others are disgusted by?
- "Side Quests" In the event that the two siblings want to explore themselves for a bit, they agree to reunite in the span of a season and go to work on their own selves. Then, whenever they desire to be with one another again, they have their familiars guide them back together again.
- "We Can Show You the World" After the siblings have done significant travel all around the lands of the Soquili with one another, they decide to work as escorts for newer travelers or lost souls like they were, trying to find someone they loved without much success.
- "A Place for Family" After traveling together, and with others for so long, our siblings are finally starting to think about finding a nice place to set up a small herd for family groups to come and relax. Of course, mates and their offspring would be welcome too, not just father/daughter or brother/sister sort of pairs.

These are the Words we've Woven

Entrants:
SwordOfTheDarkOnes [ Icemare - Eurydice; Bloodmouse - Shadow]
HanaKirei [ Bloodstallion - Orpheus; Icemouse - Echo]

Soquili's Relationship
Due to Eurydice's blindness, Orpheus is immensely overprotective of her. Sometimes he fears that he holds her beautifully shining personality back, since she is so extroverted whereas he is extremely hostile to "outsiders", but this is often overruled by his idea that no one could possibly love or cherish her to the extent that he does. Her sheer presence is the sole factor that keeps his frayed sanity grounded, and like he always tries to be there for her, she also tends to him when his nightmares, daymares, or just simple anxiety take hold.

Also, due to the stitches in Orpheus' lips, while they're loose enough to allow him to eat and drink, talking at length can be painful and his words tend to jumble together. As a result he often relies heavily on noises such as grunts, hums, and the like to get his point across -- more often than not Eurydice acts as translator and mouthpiece when other Soquili are involved since she knows best how he thinks and feels. He can't sing for her now like he did once when they were young, but he often hums for Eurydice when no one else is around.

As far as Eurydice is concerned, Orpheus is still himself. He's gotten roughed up and harmed over the years that they were parted. But she knows that he would never harm her. She enjoys his warmth, being blind most of her senses have heightened to reach out to other means. Such as nearby heat sources or the common sounds. To her Orpheus' heat is unique, its the one source of heat she would always seek. The mare isn't as brave as she seems, constantly doubting even a flick of her hoof she relies on Orpheus to be her rock of courage.

Since Orpheus is unable to sing for her the mare usually can be found singing for him as they lay side by side. Her ability to understand him could be viewed as one of those 'love conquers all' which would be close to the truth. While the mice are adorable, they also aided her in gleaning some insight on what happened to her beloved. Eurydice won't allow them to tell her the full story until Orpheus himself tells her. It's her fondest wish to one day have a family with Orpheus.

Mice's Relationship
The mice compliment Eurydice and Orpheus' dynamic, more than happy to do what they can to help them in their own ways. Initially they tried to guide Orpheus alone in tandem, but since he mistook them for a bout of madness (personifications of the good and bad in his life), he often ignored or even attacked them when their presence came to be overwhelming. Hence they came into their names, Echo and Shadow, nothing but specters that clung to his heels. Since Eurydice entered the picture and validated that they were, in fact, real, Orpheus has come to accept the mice as companions over time. Echo takes great pride in helping to soothe Orpheus when she can, even if she knows she can't do much - she also cares a good deal for Eurydice, and quite enjoys chatting with her. Shadow agitates her to no end at points, but that doesn't stop her from getting flustered around him.

Shadow wanted to at the start of everything bite Orpheus right on back, but heeded Echo's pleas to be kind to the stallion. So the male relented and kept his small chompers to himself. He finds teasing and frustrating Echo entertainment to no end. It seems as if his goal in life is to get her to turn pink. Since Eurydice came into the picture however the male has seen another reason to stick around. He sees the mare as one to protect alongside the stallion. Shadow doesn't mind his name, he's actually rather fond of it. He can't wait for the day Orpheus comes back to his senses.

How it all came to be

Orpheus' mother held a deep-seated darkness in her heart, plagued by memories of her failed partnership with her mate and the death of her second child. In spite of this, she was a proud mare, and as friendly and warm as she had ever been before tragedy struck. This was how she came to befriend Eurydice's mother/family, and through this, the two foals became fast friends once they had emerged from their baskets. Orpheus was himself a warm, if gruff, colt, and he quickly took it upon himself to look over Eurydice when her mother/parents weren't around.

One day, he wanted to give her a gift. He didn't think much of it until his mother asked him why he was examining the flowers so intensely with a knowing smile. Abruptly, his cheeks became hot as the sun upon stone. Somehow, it all seemed so silly when someone asked. It wasn't as though she could see a flower, and saying something like 'I wanted her to know how special she was' just seemed embarrassing when anyone else was involved. His mother didn't push him; she just laughed softly and leaned down to nudge him as she asked gently, "Why don't you just sing her one of my songs instead? You have such a pretty voice my baby."

He said nothing to her... but that night he sang a song for Eurydice, just as she said.

The next morning, abruptly, Orpheus and his mother were gone. There were signs of a struggle, and some traces of blood and hair left behind -- nothing more.

No one knows exactly what happened to Orpheus throughout the years, but the ordeal left him horribly fractured, inside and out. His body was littered was stitching and blood flow that never seemed to cease. By night and day, he became plagued with images of his ordeal, and he became increasingly wild and mad the more time he spent scraping by on his own. Echo and Shadow tried to reach him, but neither was able to breach the barrier of his trauma and ultimately did him more harm than good.

Eurydice would never know there was the blood of another Soquili on his horn when they found each other by chance -- it felt fated, too good to be true. Orpheus would not believe it was her until she gently nuzzled his side, and he realized that even if she was a figment of his mind, he would rather embrace the warmth of her touch than battle the terrors that crept at the corners of his mind alone. Just as in the beginning, they have been inseparable ever since.

Eurydice was born into a simple family. Being blind due to an accidental kick to her basket from a young relative. She never knew the world as everyone else knew it, but her friendship with Orpheus was something which seemed natural. Eurydice had a few older siblings who were all able-bodied. Once the small fillie had been brought into the world it took some time for the family to figure out how to work with her. She was a timid, near silent fillie, unless Orpheus was near her.

The day Orpheus sang to her was a day she would never forget. It was the day she knew that she belonged at this colt's side. Before she had a chance to say anything to confirm this however. He vanished. Eurydice and her family thought that he and his mother was dead. For years the mare stumbled her way through life. Always fearful, though she hid it behind a golden heart friendliness. Till one day she felt a familiar warmth. She was shocked. After nuzzling the male to make sure she became overjoyed. She found him again, but he wasn't completely him. That was okay. She had a source of courage and safety. That was all that mattered to her.

What the future holds
Dealing with other Soquili will naturally be an issue because while Eurydice is very friendly, Orpheus' gruff nature has evolved to the point where he is extremely paranoid of other Soquili, making him highly aggressive, even dangerous, to anyone who is not his love -- even though he has warmed to the mice, if Eurydice were not there, there is no promise he would not turn on them again. He has hurt other Soquili in the past before he was reunited with Eurydice, so that would be prime real estate for conflict with other characters. Also, it could lead to plotting as we explore just what happened to warp Orpheus, because lord knows tormenting myself is no fun! - there could also potentially be misunderstandings where people get the wrong impression of Orpheus and assume he mistreats Eurydice, and never mind if baskets get involved down the line.

Eurydice finds out what happened to him. She naturally accepts it, comforts him and does all she can to keep him sane. Maybe she defends Orpheus from the judgments of other Soquilli or stops him from hurting another.

Soquili's Relationship
Dexion Evicus (Stallion) and Nevaeh (Mare) were past lovers. They were in a serious committed relationship before tragedy struck, which broke them apart.

Mice's Relationship
Isolde (Ice Mouse) and Sycorax (Blood Mouse) are good friends. Practically inseparable, so when Dexion and Neveah went their separate ways, the two of them were completely broken. Isolde went with Dexion, since she was his familiar, and Sycorax went with Neveah, since he was her familiar.

How it all came to be

Inseparable.

It was what they called it. One couldn’t live without the other. They were always together, always finishing each others sentence, always going on big wide-open adventures together. All of it was meant to be just for them. No one else. They were the ultimate duo. They grew up together and took on the world.

Dexion stood there remembering times in the past. Painful times that almost made his breathing stop. He was happy once. At a time when things were simple and when other things didn’t get in the way, it was a time when he was naïve. He could still feel that awful pain in his chest. His heart has been shattered for a long time now. It was a frightening reminder of what happened to him. To his Neveah.

They say the death of a child is something you will never forget. For Dexion and Neveah, the death of their children was something that completely destroyed them. It ate away at their very souls. He could remember how excited and happy they were to become parents only for it to be snatched away from them in a matter of moments. The only thing he was grateful for was that they weren’t brutally killed by some skinwalker. No, instead his beloved Neveah had a miscarriage. One that completely crippled her and broke her down to her very soul, he could still remember the look on her face that night.

Shaking his head, Dexion looked down at the little mouse giving a small nod. He couldn’t talk. He could barely even make an audible sentence without pain ripping across his jaw. As punishment for what he felt he had done, he had gotten Isolde to stitch his mouth shut. It hurt, but it was his way of dealing with the pain. Soon enough whatever wound he would acquire, she would stitch for him. Sometimes he was injured by mistake or from addiction. Pain was the only thing that made his heart stop hurting. It made him feel alive.

Feeling himself drifting away from his thoughts, the stallion looked into the distance. There was nothing. No Neveah anywhere in sight. He was at the right spot. It was the spot where they first met and started their friendship as crazy as it was. It was an old oak tree that had some gashes in the trunk from when he was trying to show how tough he was. He would ram it thinking he could get it to move for her. Of course it never worked.

“She isn’t coming..” A squeak came from Isolde’s mouth as she spoke.

She was probably right. Their time had come and gone. Their time was done. They fell out of love and drifted apart once their children died. Neither knew how to handle the news and still didn’t know how to handle it. It shattered their world.

It was the day his heart died.

“Come on I’m cold!” Another squeak could be heard from Isolde’s mouth as she skittered up Dexion’s leg onto his back.

Maybe it was just a forgotten promise.

That was until he saw two familiar figures walking his direction causing his heart to beat in what felt like forever.

Nevaeh had learned the painful life lesson of how much lost life could completely shatter an individual. How could she have lost their children? What had gone wrong? She had left Dexion a broken shell of her former self with only a whispered promise to meet again.

Nevaeh's eyes scanned the horizon in a mixture of fear and apprehension. How could she go through with this meeting? She wasn't ready to face Dexion. Years had passed though since they had been together. Today was a day though that was long in coming. Upon splitting up Nevaeh had whispered a final request to meet up in the future. It was after that request that Dexion had obviously faded from her life. Her glowing eyes took in the small form of the mouse at her feet before she took a deep breath and releasing it.

"I believe it is for the best if we kept to the planned schedule Sy."

The look that Sycorax gave her in response was one of disbelief. The mouse knew that Nevaeh was the one stalling and merely scampered up her leg to sit on her back. Feeling Sycorax grip her mane Nevaeh set out. No longer could she delay her departure. She would see this through.

Dexion would be waiting for her, wouldn't he? There was doubt in Nevaeh's mind. One could not erase the years that had passed. Things could have changed. Her hooves carried her forward though even as the wall around her heart quivered and held firm.

At first her eyes passed right over Dexion's form lost in thought as she was. It was only Sycorax's tugging at her mane that had the mare holding her breath at the sight of Dexion at their tree. He had not forgotten after all.

What the future holds
The only plot me and Tefla spoke about together was the possible rekindling of a romance between the two. Other then that I had ideas for them to completely reconnect with each other. Build their friendship back up slowly and do the things they use to do together when they were younger. Maybe he saves her from a horrible fate that really wakes him up? I would like to do a lot of background memory stuff from their past. It would be little snippets of their life when they were around each other. The good times and the bad so that a history is built between the pair.

I also have a plot line in my head for Dexion to get his ‘voice’ back. Something simple and not to overly complicated. He can talk already, but lacks the confidence to do so. So it would be a serious of RPs where he overcomes his fears and communicates in a different kind of way.

Other then that, I really want to delve into his history for why he looks the way he does. What caused him to become addicted to get hurt other then the tragedy? I also plan on talking about his parents and how he ended up an orphan.

Future Plot for Neveah:
Seeking Answers - Possibly after reuniting with Dexion Nevaeh will want to seek out answers to ease her mind. She worries that it was her fault that she miscarried.

These are the Words we've Woven

Entrants:
Kara Asumie [ Blood Stallion | Chi Aisu ; Ice Mouse | Shimo - female ]
Natelie [ Ice Mare | Ithra ; Blood Mouse | Grith - male ]

Soquili's Relationship
Friends turned into Enemies these two used to be so close that some believed that they would become lovers. They even traded mice friends so that they would have something of the others. But then something happened and Ithra couldn't come to understand Chi Aisu's way of thinking. He had changed somehow and did something so heartless. He had attacked her family who were against them just being friends. All because of the rumors that they might become lovers one day. Chi Aisu never thought of becoming her lover. He just wished her to be happy but something her family said to him, forbidding him from ever seeing her again, just made him snap. But he never had the heart to tell her just what her family had done and was fine with her thinking of him as the only bad guy. After all he wouldn't want her fighting with her family over him and some stupid rumors.

Mice's Relationship
Shimo and Grith are the best of friends and they grew up with Ithra and Chi Aisu. They also know the truth behind everything. But Grith, who is with Ithra, doesn't tell her what truly happened because a promise made with Shimo. These two are trying their best to bring Ithra and Chi Aisu back together as friends. But for right now they meet up secretly so that they don't make Ithra and Chi Aisu think that they are betraying them.

How it all came to be

Ithra and Chi Aisu, like their mice familiars, grew up together and all four became great friends. They bonded with each other. The ice mouse with Chi Aisu and the blood mouse to Ithra. This was to show the bond of the friendship that they shared. Shimo was from the Ice family like Ithra as Grith was of the Blood family like Chi Aisu, so switching families was like stating true trust and friendship in each other. Chi Aisu was Ithra’s knight when they were younger in the games they would play and sometimes even in the trouble that they got into. But Ithra's family didn't wish to see their Light with someone so dark like Chi Aisu. Although they were ok with the two just being friends. As the two grew up however they became inseparable. When you needed one all you had to do was find the other. This started a rumor in the herd that the two would soon be lovers and then mates. Ithra's parents would not have this and after hearing these rumors they summoned Chi Aisu alone to speak to him.

"I know you are sweet to Ithra and that you have been her best friend in life. But I forbid you to ever come near her again from this moment on." Her father commanded only to be hushed by Ithra's mother as she started to speak. "We are not saying this because we dislike you. It is that you are worthless and not something that we want for our light Ithra. You understand this right?”

Anger was raging a war in his heart and mind as Chi Aisu took a deep breath. He grew up with Ithra. She was important to him. Maybe one day he wouldn't have minded be a lover to her but the most important thing to him was her happiness. How could her parents do this. It would destroy Ithra if she heard her mother and father right now. He knew that more than anything. Ithra loved her family and would hate anything or anyone if they ever hurt them. Sighing as he looked at them he gave his only response. "I understand but Ithra would never accept this. And the both of you know that." Shimo was on Chi Aisu's back and she knew that the raging anger was winning the war inside of Chi Aisu. But what happened next would not just be Chi Aisu snapping but his way of protecting Ithra, the way he believes is right.

So in the raging anger and thoughts of protecting Ithra from heart break, Chi Aisu reared up and attacked her mother and father. It was her mother's scream that made Ithra gallop at full speed to where the three were talking. Seeing her best friend attacking her parents and the rest of the family that came to save them, broke her heart. Without thinking and in a rage herself she reared up and attacked him, causing an injury to his shoulder. She screamed at him. "CHI JUST LEAVE AND NEVER RETURN."

He hadn’t thought of her reaction being an attack on him. His hooves hit the ground. Chi Aisu fought the feeling of wanting to yell at himself and cry out. Her words stung. He turned with Shimo still on his back and as he was leaving he passed Ithra whispering. "Your wish is my command." It was something he had always told her in the past which she had loved to hear. Grith was there and watched the whole thing. Knowing that Chi Aisu only did it so that Ithra wouldn't hate her family even if she would push him away instead. Grith silently promised to Shimo and Chi Aisu to never speak of the truth.

Ithra was trying to understand her friend attacking her family. "What happened? Why did something like this come about?" She cried as her mother nuzzled her. "It is ok my light. We aren't hurt. The others and yourself came just in time. It is alright now." There were tears in her eyes as she looked at her mother. "I reared at him and he still said the sweetest thing. Your wish is my command. He knows I find that to be sweet. So I am no better. I attacked him. But I can't understand why he attacked you? I want to understand." A tear fell on Grith who was sitting at her front hooves, getting him all wet. Looking up at Ithra he speaks up in his squeaky voice, "Maybe it was just time for you both to go your own ways. If you should ever meet again in the future then take the time to ask him. Only he will know just why he did what he did," he pointed out. Quietly he sighed knowing the answer to that. Chi Aisu couldn’t let her hate them. "I am going to miss Shimo. She left on Chi Aisu's back." Ithra stomped a hoof close to him, "DON’T SAY HIS NAME” she snapped.

Even when pissed her voice still sounded oh so sweet. Grith looking up at her as he smiled. "I am sorry. I know you wish not to hear of him after what has happened." Ithra's father had an idea of why Chi Aisu did just what he did. He sighed having not given the boy much credit. "Well no matter why this happened. It is now in the past and there is no changing that. Let us just be grateful that no one was wounded." He stood with pride looking at his daughter. "You will understand one day." Iced over eyes glared at her father. Her face showing annoyance. "Don't you say that to me. Don't you dare tell me that I will understand one day. I am not a child.” Her gaze lowered again to her mouse. “Grith I am sorry I snapped at you. I know Shimo was just as important to you as that stallion was to me." Pushing away from her parents, there was just enough time for Grith to climb up her tail to her back as she walked off.

"I need to be alone. Only Grith could understand how I feel right now. No one else is allowed near me until I calm down and collect myself." Ithra called over her shoulder for her family to hear. She headed to her favorite spot and cried her eyes out as Grith patted her head and tried to comfort her the best he could. He wished he could tell her the truth but maybe one day he will be able to tell her what Chi Aisu and her parents didn't.

What the future holds
A future plot that we have planned for them is that the mice, after one of their meetings, realize that both Ithra and Chi Aisu are depressed and gloomy without the other. They find Ithra to tell her the truth about what had happened. After that she goes out to find him.

This is where she finds his mouth sewn shut as well as the other stitches on him. Although the one on his shoulder is from her rearing at him when he attacked her family.

You will have to stay tuned to find out just where that plot might lead... Teehee.

[[ Place note that in our story her eyes are iced over to protect them from wind. She can see just fine. Also story part is long so in a spoiler tag. ]]

Soquili's Relationship
In the beginning he was seen as a threat, as an annoying little rodent who was upon her land and did not leave. He saw her as a soquili to save. Soon Life would triumph over Ice and they would become lovers, much like winter inevitably yields to the spring.

Mice's Relationship
They too were at odds in the beginning, much like those they served, but when life started to blossom within the frozen world they too united. After the mare and stallion aligned, the icy mouse went to the blood stallion so he would always recollect his chilled love, while the blood mouse went to the frozen queen so she may always remember the life she had been given. Yet again following the example of the soquili they so treasured, the mice too became lovers. Both having found the companionship they had long avoided since meeting the soquili they had sworn to love and treasure above all else.

How it all came to be

Blood is Life. It is a bond that unites generations, a substance that spreads warmth and holds such power. It nourishes and protects, even though it may appear horrific.

Ice is Death. It is a merciless and formidable foe that causes even the most beautiful of creations to wither and die. It freezes and deceives, even though it may appear radiant.

Of course they were rivals, one wished to encase the world in ice, while the other wished to breathe life over the frozen tundra she had created. But through the slow march of time life has a way of coming into being, even in the most desolate of places. Slowly Eirwen’s heart began to melt and welcome in the life that Rilien had continued to provide. They were polar opposites, she was stunning but it was a deadly and deceptive beauty, one that came with a price, while he was bloody and dark with a heart of gold.

Eirwen had been living alone upon the mountain since her parents had succumb to the cold. It had never bothered her, but to them it drained their energy and made them weak. Weakness was not something she could have in her land, and so she arranged for her parents to “accidently” get caught in an avalanche. It really should be common knowledge not to be loud near areas with high levels of snow. Her heart was frozen, she did not care for others nor did she care for the icy mouse that was sometimes her companion. It was a lonely life she lived upon her snowy mountain, but it was a life she had chosen for herself. And then one day, her peace was interrupted by a stallion who was driven by his need to breathe life into a dying world. Eirwen was insulted that he would classify the wondrous icy home she created to be a desolate wasteland. She tried to get the stallion to leave but he was persistent.

Rilien had heard about the Icy Queen who lived upon the mountain top, how she did not see anyone and how she was so very alone. His heart went out to her, for how could one enjoy life if there was no one to spend it with. The journey was hard and cold, his mane littered icicles by the time he reached the base of her frozen lair. There was a dangerous beauty about the place, and the mare herself was a reflection of the land in which she lived. The blood stallion made it his mission to save the mare from herself, even if it was the last thing he did, even if she didn't want it. His mouse companion who had been his friend through the most trying of times promised to help in any way that he could. He had seen the icy mouse that scurried through the snow, he knew that she brought information to the Ice Queen. Perhaps they could use that to their advantage.

Time seemed to stand still in the cold for the world was constantly blanketed in white, everything appearing unchanging and similar. The icy mare did not know how long the stallion had taken up residence in her lands. It annoyed her that his presence lingered, and that he would attempt to speak with her whenever she showed herself. Why could he not leave and let her be? Occasionally when she looked out of her cave she would see him digging in the snow. What in the world was he doing? She asked her mouse, but all the infuriating creature said was that he was digging. Finally, after an unknown amount of days, her curiosity got the better of her and she left her icy lair. Growing in a patch of snow near the camp of the stallion were the most beautiful white flowers she had ever seen with a fragrance that could only be described as invigorating. Snow Drops they were called, only to be grown in the most inhospitable and cold environments. Had the stallion done this? Brought this living beauty to her? Shown her that something so small could be so strong; could possess such a will to live? She felt her heart slowly start to melt and it frightened her for she had always been set in her ways, but now she was uncertain. With one last longing look at the flowers, she fled to her cave, her heart pounding wildly in her chest.

It had been a difficult thing to do, plant the flowers and help them to blossom. But he and his companion were quite skilled at maintaining life, and it was good that the plants were fast growing once they were introduced to a land that was suitable their needs. From a distance he was able to watch the mare as she saw the flowers, he knew that he was slowly getting through to her. Once she returned to her cave, he picked a few of the flowers and walked up to the mouth, stamping his hoof upon the ground to let her know he was there.

Fear once more filled the mare. It was the first time she had ever felt that emotion; who was this stallion to cause such emotion in her? And what were his motives for doing so? He stood in the cold, holding the white flowers in his mouth. If she allowed him in her life would change forever, a fact she could not ignore. How desperately she wanted to send him away, she did not want change, and yet she felt a yearning for life much like those little flowers in the snow. With a deep breath she allowed the stallion into her cave, fully aware that her frozen way of life would never be the same, but she had already felt the subtle breath of life and she craved more.

What the future holds
It would be interesting to see what happens when he convinces her to leave her frozen world behind and meet other soquili in the warmer lands. How does she react? Does she like summer or would she rather be up in her frozen cave?

She had done things in her past to other soquili who had journeyed to her home, and it would be interesting to see if their family members were to come forward in order to seek answers or revenge.

The blood stallion has to deal with a lot based on his personality, it would be interesting to have meetings with him and other soquili who believe him to be wicked and how he goes about convincing them otherwise.

It would also be fun to have more plots where his obsession with bringing life into the world were to play a part. Blood is the water of life, so it only makes sense that his purpose would be to inspire life.

Perhaps when there are foals, history will repeat itself, one will love the cold while the other will love summer. Perhaps this would insight a rivalry between them? Would this affect the relationship of the parents as well? Or what if the foals were a combination of blood and cold? Fearspawn?

More about the death of her parents would come to light and how much she had a part in it, and how the icy mouse helped with it as well. Would this change the way the Blood stallion thought of her?

These are the Words we've Woven

Entrants:
Of The Epidemic [ Ice Mare - Tesni ; Blood Mouse - Isuru ]
Parasitic Candii [ Blood Stallion - Koletis ; Ice Mouse - Vein]

Soquili's Relationship
Tesni and Koletis don’t actually know each other; they are strangers walking the same path. Bound together by those that fear what is different, and unable to break away from the slot they have been given in life. They are so similar in story that if you replaced one with the other it would hardly cause a ripple of difference.

Mice's Relationship
Isuru and Vein are rivals and friends. Born together in the same colony of mice, reared for the same purpose, and set on the same path; there has always been some competition between the two. Yet, there seems to be a bond there as well, willing to back each other up should the need arise. Isuru refuses to let anyone shove Vein off his pillar except her. Vein refuses to see Isuru fall at the paws of anyone but himself; and in the end, neither are willing to give up on their goals.

How it all came to be

Tesni can hardly remember her parents, or what life was like before she was the Northern Wasteland queen. Sometimes she dreams of what her family was, though she isn’t sure if they are memories or simply locked away wishes. The earliest she can remember is waking up tucked under a shrub, the wind biting at her flesh. Confusion is the most prominent emotion, followed closely by fear. The icy mare remembers wandering around seeking someone, anyone, to help her and eventually happening upon a village. Some of her fondest memories are of her time spent with people. She grew strong under their care, and became a saving grace during the cold winter months; seemingly one with the ice and snow as she was.

But all good things come to an end, or so they say, and this was no different. A Skinwalker happened upon their village and it tore through Tesni’s home. Enraged by the loss of so many, the ice mare confronted the Skinwalker; a naturally stupid thing to do, but luck was on her side. Ice and snow had always been Tesni’s friends and the Skinwalker was ill prepared for such weather conditions. Tesni managed to lead the monster away from the village and off into the wilds where, by some twist of fate, she managed to beat the animal back. It was her good fortune that the Skinwalker had already been injured before happening upon the village.

However, when Tesni returned to her village it was gone, all that had survived had cleared out. To where she did not know, and though she searched with clamoring hoofs and a hopeful heart, still she could not find them. Stories of the attack spread, and over time were twisted, until Tesni was no longer the hero of the story but the villain. She became the monster of the Northern Wasteland, the Ice Queen, someone to be feared and avoided. She was an outcast and shunned for her violent nature, the horns of a demon she has, the eyes of a devil. Alone is what she was, desperate for a friend, her deepest wish to just be accepted once more. It was this wish that was answered by the mice, by Isuru who had set off on her own journey to find the blood torn stallion, and instead ended up at Vein’s ice covered mare. While Vein was pulled by that same wish to none other than Isuru’s stallion.

That stallion had long since been a revered member of his herd, a strong soul with love to give and even more love to receive. Koletis’s life had been a perfect one, but all that is light must succumb to darkness with time. For this stallion, it was the night that fate intervened with a kiss of ill fortunate, causing his herd to stay settled on their journey for merely hours later than they had intended.

With the dim light of the sky being all that lit their way, one of the mares had fallen and sustained a deep wound that needed treating. Of course none were willing to leave behind their injured comrade with her bulging belly, a few new souls ready to enter the world any day; Still, it was with much fussing and debate that they finally convinced the feisty little mare to give in and stay, unwilling as they all were to move on the subject of her health, and the herd settled in for a few peaceful hours of rest that would, unfortunately, only last until sunrise. The next morning, as fate would have it, found them under attack. Koletis had jumped into action with the others when it had started, but it had mattered little. In the end everything had been lost, save for his life.

Torn asunder, toyed with and played by his own personal nightmare, Koletis had escaped that damned Skinwalker by inflicting a deep gash along its hind leg, allowing him to flee. It was that same injury that carried with the Skinwalker on through Tesni’s village, and would later be his undoing.

Spared by a bit of quick needle work and some cruel joke, or so it seemed, the golden child that had been so beloved by his herd now found himself alone. Shunned as a monster, his own story spiraled into a new tale that told of the death that followed this stallion, once a hero, now the nightmare that walked the forest. He wondered at how his life had turned on its head so quickly, like a mere flip of a coin. Honestly, what hope did he have of ever finding happiness of that caliber again? The warmth and comfort of having friends and family close; he didn’t think he was meant for such things anymore, though he wished for them dearly. Little did he know, hope would present itself in the form of a little mouse by the name of Vein. A mouse that at first would be quite displeased, but given time, would brighten like reflected sun against morning ice, and glisten just the same. His life would have meaning again, he would just have to learn patience.

Right now, though neither Tesni nor Koletis know it yet, they would soon be set on a path to find what they desperately sought. For, if nothing else, Isuru and Vein would always find each other, and together they just might have the answer to their charges’ wishes.

What the future holds

I’m not sure what I expected, but this wasn’t it. – Isuru and Vein are pretty much dragging their respective pony companion cross-country to meet each other. Tiny wish granting mice? Yeah pretty much. In the end Tesni and Koletis get to meet for the first time. I’m sure things won’t go as planned, and it will be a slew of fun.

Happily Ever After; usually isn’t – Or at the very least it takes work. Obviously meeting for the first time isn’t going to fix all their problems. It’s going to take work to get to know each other, find out each others secrets and maybe heal some of that damage done to them. After all, years of neglect doesn’t wash away in a day.

Hi, my name is ____ and I’m a good pony. – Years of being called monster, horror, nightmare, frozen ice queen, and eventually some part of you starts to believe it. You start to hate that part, and eventually parts of yourself. They are going to need some help, from each other and their mice, to remember what it was like when they were ‘good people’. Then to in turn be able to tell others how they feel, to stop those from drawing conclusions about them, and set the record straight; if they know nothing else, they know for a fact that they are good ponies.

We have been there, and together we will be your shelter. – Would really love for them to maybe start either a small herd or something like a reform center? We want to see a place where those that have had similar troubles can come and find solace; basically a place that you can call home no matter what you look like. It would be nice to see the two come full circle and learn to love themselves enough so that they can help others out as well.

I’m still learning to love, just starting to crawl. – (Love love LOVE that song.) Anyway, pretty much puts it into perspective; neither have ever had a mate. They are learning to love themselves, and now they have to learn to love another? But how do you do that when you are pretty much readily attached at the hip? How do you break away from your support and fall all over again? Why would you do that? Or do you even really need to?

There are other plots we have in mind but those are some of the big ones. If we can manage it, we would love to see a revisit from the Skinwalker maybe? Or something like that, it would just be interesting I think. Maybe a love triangle? We don’t know yet!

It was a really close draw, as there were a few under consideration for the top...but I only have the pair to give away - as much as I wish I could award all the wonderful stories with ponies. Majority of votes gave us our winner.
