Long ago, there was a lion.

This lion loved to battle, creating complex and visually appealing attacks to stun and defeat his various opponents. Naturally, his exciting and different attacks drew the attention of several other lions, along with whatever other animal he fought along the way. They longed to discover his secrets and master his moves, so they might also become great battlers. Most were young, inexperienced but eager creatures and the lion could not find it in his heart to them their pleading eyes away. So he agreed to teach them, taking them from the homes they had known, after they bid goodbyes to their families of course, to a special land he had found just for his training.

It was open and vast, the perfect ground for fights, while also in a fairly secluded area without too many passing herds or wandering rogues. Beyond the expanse of flat, barren land was a large set of cliffs and hillsides, littered with holes that were just perfect for dens. Small watering holes provided a source of water for the trainers, while the distance they needed to cover to find food helped them stay in great condition.

In this place, a haven of sorts, they fought each other in practice-style matches, never aiming to kill any of their “class” mates. Under the watchful eye of their master, their champion, they grew to learn the same strange and exciting moves as he. After a while, training also became experimenting, some of the trainers constructing moves their own, the kinks of which were worked through the very same practice battles. These lions, equipped with their exotic skills, ventured occasionally into the depths of the rogue lands, fighting others and truly testing their skills. For the most part, however, they liked to stay within the safety of the pride, never seeking to kill but trained to do so if needed. It became more than just a practice to hone their skills- it became their way of life.

Through their exits and returns to the training grounds, they brought with them new challengers, even families. Before the champion knew it, his experiment in teaching had flourished into a pride. A pride of lions devoted to battle and strengthening themselves, while also keeping kind and never letting the will to fight turn them into blood-thirsty monsters. Within the pride, they live as a team, working together to overcome any obstacle. This blend of peace and ferocity served them well over the years, letting them expand their numbers and grow their territory.

The growth led to the discovery of another important aspect of the pride- exploration. Testing their skills in caves, forests and other terrains unlike the pridelands they were so used. It became another way to hone their skills, and make them the very best they could be. They came to enjoy going on missions for themselves or for the pride, bringing back food and rewards, sometimes even stories of battle.

Generations later, the moves have changed from what was learned in the beginning, but the basics remain the same- to battle is their real test, to train is their cause.

After a stint of famine with a sprinkle of pestilence mixed in, many lives were lost and pride became unstable in its numbers. Some left, hoping to return when the pride found its balance again, while others remained to battle it out, considering the harsh conditions nothing more than another means of training. Suffering through it, the pride has now decreased in size, but its strong heart lives on.

The newest generation of champion, a large lion named Zuka, has stayed with the pride throughout his life, becoming the leader when the former champion died from disease and named him his successor. With the threat of illness now passed, he looks to build the numbers of his pride once, hopeful that the way of training and battle will return to the hearts of his pride members. The Kipindo'hayawani, or Kipwani for short, strives to be the very best, like no pride ever was.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------User Image Culture/Events User Image----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Feather Dance (Joining): While there is no RP required to join the pride, everyone must roll a 'Type' before being able to be considered an official member of the pride. To find your type, simply generate a number between 1 and 18. (The number of pokemon types currently in the game) The breakdown is as follows:

1. Normal (white feather)
2. Fire (red feather)
3. Fighting (brown feather)
4. Water (blue feather)
5. Flying (light blue feather)
6. Grass (green feather)
7. Poison (purple feather)
8. Electric (yellow feather)
9. Ground (white feather with brown spots)
10. Psychic (white and purple feather)
11. Rock (dark brown and black feather)
12. Ice (white and blue feather)
13. Bug (light green feather)
14. Ghost (pale purple feather)
15. Dark (black feather)
16. Steel (shiny gray feather)
17. Fairy (pink feather)
18. Dragon (red and orange feather)

If there's too many of any one type, that number will be restricted in rolls for a while. All rolls will take place in the same thread, and are made by the owner of the SoA. Familiars are not rolled. ICly, the type festival is held whenever there's a new member. It's generally not required that everyone be there, but an official pride member is needed. The pride member tosses feathers down over the potential pride member, and the potential pride member must grab one and only one from the group. The color of the feather dictates what type the member will fall under. Certain types have advantages over some, and weaknesses over another. It is to help keep fights varied.

***Pokemon cosplays may pick one of their types and NOT roll, but this only counts if you are on the cosplay list!

Safari Festival: A few times a year, the pride will hold a safari festival, where any member of the pride is encouraged to go out and find the best familiars around. They are judged and prizes are awarded based on the quality brought back. Other familiars are given away as prizes for other contests during this festival. There is some information in the battle section about one of the games in this festival.

Battle Tournaments: Battle tournaments will be held throughout the year, the winners getting special perks and high respect throughout the pride. Some may be restricted to certain kinds of animals, while others are only for certain types. The rules will be posted with each tournament held.

Pride Explorations Special locations may require set groups to go and explore together instead of lions heading out on their own. these events may reveal special items and even new SoA for people who participate.

User Image Breeding: Breeding is open and encouraged, and there are no set standards given the adventurous nature of the pride. That being said, things against shop rules are still against pride rules. Rogue breeding is fine, as is settling down with a lovely mate or adopting cubs.

User Image Cubs: Cubs are loved by all members of the pride and are not pushed into exploring or battles before they are ready. They are encouraged, though, to explore what they like as early as possible. However, cubs cannot have win/loss counts. Cubs can participate in the Feather Dance whenever the parents feel they are old enough to do so.

User Image Accepting New Members: New members must first find out what type they fall under before being accepted into the pride officially. That is all they need to do!

User Image Leaving the Pride: There are no hard feelings for leaving- when you decide it is your time to go, you let the others know and you go. Dispersed pride members, unless kicked out for a shady reason, are welcome back to the pride at any time. Banned members who come sniffing around may be attacked.

User Image Visitors: More than welcome! They can stay the night and experience the pride, however, they may not be allowed to participate in all pride activities before being officially accepted.

User Image Familiars: Familiars are thought of as pets or slaves, and can be treated either way. Some are loved, some are pushed hard. A lot of the time, cubs too young to explore, or adults who just like to have fun, like to challenge other cubs to familiar battles, letting the smaller animals fight for them. As long as no one is badly injured or killed, this is a fine practice in the pride.

User Image Hybrids: As welcome as any other member of the pride. There are no restrictions imposed on hybrids and they can do as they please as long as they don’t get into trouble or break the rules.

User Image Non-lions: While welcome, wild dogs and hyena are normally not as respected as other members of the pride, just because they can’t quite do what lions and leopards can. They aren’t as strong. Cheetahs are also a little lower on the list, but no less welcomed into the pride should they wish to join.

User Image Death: Death it a natural part of existing on this planet and every passing is treated with respect. They take the body to decompose in a secluded area safe from predators, while still far enough from the pride to save them from any horrible scents. Killing within the pride is unacceptable. The pride is meant for exploring and battle training, not murder, and anyone who kills another will be thrown out of the pride, if not killed themselves for their devious actions.

User Image Religion: There is no set religion in the pride, though exploring/adventure/mysterious Gods are more revered than any others. They do not worship Gods based in hate or death, however.

All members of the pride are allowed to go on explorations and participate in battles when they are old enough- ranks just give them a specialty as well.

User Image Champion: The leader of the pride. He had proven himself to be the most skilled of all the pride members and thus has more stamina than any of the others. While usually male, it is not forbidden for a female to become the champion. Anyone can fight the champion for the position when he decides to start looking for a replacement. Randomly attacking the ruler is a good way to get your a** thrown out of the pride, or even killed.

User Image Elite: There can be four elite at any time, no more, but certainly less if no one else has managed to prove themselves worthy. The elite are the strongest members of the pride, and are respected for it. They help the champion in times of hardship and keep the pride in order. To apply for an Elite, a SoA needs: 5 explorations and 5 battle WINS.

User Image Rescuer: This rank is obtained by progressing through and completing a certain number of 'dungeons' for the pride. Rescuers are stronger explorers who are often sent in to save explorers who may not have been able to make it out of an adventure on their own. Only SoA who have proved themselves can earn this title. Required: 5 explorations

User Image Nurse: At adolescence, a trainer may switch profession to this rank. They take care of pride members when injuries occur during training. They also care for the sick or the elderly when need be, and provide comfort in general. They are welcome to continue exploring, but do not have to battle if they don’t want to.
--- Head Nurse: Head nurses are the best of the best. Required: 5 completed RPs.

User Image Officer: At adolescence, a trainer may switch profession to this rank. Officers make sure no one is brutally injuring anyone else and keep order when the Training Teams start to clash. They enforce the rules of the pride and maintain peace. They also question outsiders to make sure they are not spies from any rival pride. They continue to battle and explore to keep up their defense skills.
--- Commanding Officer: Top officers in the field. Required: 2 RP, 2 battle wins

User Image Breeder: At adolescence, a trainer may switch profession to this rank. No, they don’t breed lions together to produce eggs. They do, however, act as midwifes/nannies and care for the children of the pride. They help confused parents and make sure the cubs are healthy. Children are beloved in the pride and they do everything in their power to keep them strong so that they might one day become trainers. Breeders may also act as a surrogate mothers/fathers for gay couples, or for those incapable of breeding on their own. This is not required and is at the discretion of the Breeder.
--- Top Breeder: required: 5 RPs

User Image Professor: At adolescence, a trainer may switch profession to this rank. Teachers! Obviously. They prepare the cubs of the pride before becoming trainers and give them all kinds of battle pointers. Normally, they are retired animals who still love to battle but perhaps can’t win matches as they used to. They also research the surrounding area and take stock of any kind of useful information, from the rogue population to what kind of food lives in the area.
--- Lead Professor: required: 5 RPs

User Image Ranger: At adolescence, a trainer may switch profession to this rank. More or less recruiters, rangers spend most of their time outside of the pride, looking for rogues who show potential and asking them to join the pride. They can do whatever they want in the rogue lands, even breed, and the resulting cubs do now have to return to the pride. They do not train much in the traditional sense, but do have to have sharp skills just in case they meet someone grumpy on their travels. They also help with hunting when need be.
--- Top Ranger: required: 5 explorations

User Image Coordinator: At adolescence, a trainer may switch profession to this rank. This is the entertainment rank of the pride- coordinators are all about flair! They produce all the shows, dances, songs, and any other form of entertainment to keep the pride happy and carefree. Usually joyful members of the pride, they tend to avoid the training to avoid any kind of competition. Only a few fault them for it though, as most enjoy having that lighter moment to loosen them up after a long day of training.
--- Top Coordinator: required: 5 RPs

User Image Trainers: The default rank of the pride. From birth, any pride member is a trainer with the exception of familiars. They can switch ranks at adolescence. Trainers can battle anyone from any Training Team, and may challenge the battle leader to try and take their rank at special times. They live in harmony with all pride members and take care of the hunting. They also form the armies should war time arise.
--- Master Trainer: required: 5 Battle WINS

Battles are an important part of the Kipwani. Everyone is encouraged to fight one another, or lions outside of the pride. Here are the IC and OoC things to keep in mind:

Duel Basics: Each participant rolls 5 6-sided dice. This can be done all in the Opening post or alternating turns. To count as an official battle, the RP MUST be RPed out until the end, regardless of the method used. The SoA with the highest total number wins the battle.

Type effects battle!

Super-effective type: +1 to the total score
Type weakness: -1 to the total score
Neutral types: no change to the total score

The type breakdown is as follows:

User Image

Win Count: Counts are kept in the memberlist thread- it's your job to keep them up to date. Links are required to completed threads. There will be special prizes given out to SoA who have higher wins, or just a lot of matches under their belt in general! Prizes may include: Edits, Familiars, New Ranks, Special pride perks and more. You do not need to keep track of losses unless you'd like to for RP purposes.

Time Frame: There's no limits to the number of battles you can have going at one time. You may battle the same SoA as many times as you would like. Basically, have at it, people.

IC terms: Of course they are aware of their win/loss counts and can brag about them as much as you would like them to ICly. Conversely, they could also try and hide their real count if they are embarrassed by their losses, but please don't fabricate any results in any OoC contests. Anyone caught doing this will be kicked out of the pride and have any perks revoked. ICly, lions are not allowed to KILL one another, though injuries are normal and sometimes expected.

Breeding RPs: These RPs can count for breeding, same as any other RP. However, please keep in mind the rules of the breeding thread! RPs must be at least 10 posts long to count. That's 5 posts each! If your duel somehow ends up being less than that, then you have to pad it with extra fluff after! I believe, however, that the length won't be much of a problem. To count for a breeding, these duels MUST be filled in with RP, which you can do after all the rolling is done. Duels left with just the random numbers cannot be counted for breedings!

Elite Try-outs: These will be special battles that may have special rules when the time comes. They are generally held through contests and events.

The Champion: The champion will always accept challengers, even when his position is not open for the taking. Winning against him gets you a hell of a lot of respect within the pride! However, the Champion has an automatic +3 to his count, making him VERY difficult to defeat.

Safari Festival! Okay, this is where things get FUN.

Periodically I will random post an Open-RP board for any and all pride members. (Pride members ONLY) This RP board will have a random familiar in it, who happened to venture into the pride by mistake. What's the point? Well, it's up to your SoA to catch that familiar! (you didn't really think I would make a pokemon pride and include NO catching, did you?)

Familiars have ten HP each and it's up to you to lower that HP counts to zero. Multiple SoA may be trying for the familiar at once, but you each have your OWN HP COUNT. If one SoA rolls a 6, bringing the HP to 4, the next person who posts has to roll from 10, not 4. Confusing, I know.

Here is a mock catching event in all its glory!

Roll between 1 and 5, with the same battle rules as a normal duel:

xxxxxxxxx1: The attack missed! (0 damage)
xxxxxxxxx2: Your opponent evaded the attack! (1 damage)
xxxxxxxxx3: A weak hit! (2 damage)
xxxxxxxxx4. A normal hit! (3 damage)
xxxxxxxxx5. Critical hit! (4 damage)

Whoever gets the HP count to 0 first, wins the Familiar for their SoA, to keep forever and ever. Yes, it will be YOUR FAMILIAR. Fun, right?

To keep lucky/fast people from catching them all right off the bat, you can't catch more than one Familiar a month, unless I state otherwise in the opening post. There will be special cases, I'm sure. Familiars may be given to other users, but in turn they can't catch any more for a month. It's the same as gifting a custom cub from a litter- the spot that's taken is from the person who OWNS the familiar.

Anyone caught deleting posts to roll again (though I don't know why you would- it would just slow you down) will be banned from catching any Familiars for three months. Further violations will result in a complete ban from the Catching contests. You may only give one away a month. You HAVE to keep your second one!

xxxxxxIE: Caj gives familiar to Lithia. Lithia accepts, so she can't catch any others for the month! Caj can catch another for himself.

Input is welcome! Please PM me any suggestions you have for this system. <3

Similar to battles, explorations are run on a dice system. Each SoA participating in an exploration starts the RP with an introduction where they roll 6, 10-sided dice. These dice count for different sorts of events that take place within the exploration zone. The break-down is as follows:

xxxxxxxxx1: Oh dear, you encountered something in the cave and lost, or fled!
xxxxxxxxx2-4: Good fortune!
xxxxxxxxx5-6: Bad fortune!
xxxxxxxxx7-9: No fortune!
xxxxxxxxx10: You encountered some kind of attacker in the cave and won!

Good fortune: rolling 2, 3, or 4 will bring about good fortune for your SoA! They might find a lovely sight, locate a new friend (if you have one for them to find, or it's an event-run exploration) or find some kind of trinket they'll want to take with them! It's up to you what kind of good fortune you want your SoA to find, and it doesn't have to be limited to what you see listed here.

Bad fortune: rolling a 5 or 6 will mean something unpleasant has happened to your character! This could be anything from getting lost to falling down a hole. Once again, what happens is up to you, so feel free to bring about whatever misfortune you fell like tossing at your character.

No fortune: 7, 8, or 9 will be met with staggering boredom, I'm afraid! Your SoA won't find anything worth looking into, nor will they have anything particularly good ,or bad, happen to them! These can be used to move from location to location when RPing out the results of the rolls.

Fights: There are two rolls that means you will encounter SOMETHING inside the exploration zone. It can be anything from an NPC animal to a lion, or perhaps even a particularly scary shadow! Whatever attacks, conditions depend on which roll you landed. a 1 will mean losing the fight, while a 10 means you walked away victorious! If you roll more than one, well, that just means you have a particularly battle-heavy exploration!

Once the rolls have been made in the opening post ,the rest of the RP can be spent playing out what might have happened during the exploration. Once again, for explorations to count towards anything in the future, they need to be completed and filled in!

Groups: You may go on explorations with as many SoA as you would like, but be aware you are all responsible for rolling 6 10-sided dice! However, how you explain what happened after is entirely up to you, though keep in mind that for a RP to count for a breeding each RPer involved needs 5 posts/500 words minimum.

Locations: Unless it is a pride-run exploration, you may set the location for your event anywhere you would like. A cave, a dried up riverbed, a graveyard- it really doesn't matter! SoA are encouraged to travel far and wide in the name of explorations!

Solo Example! Along with a Group Example!

Like battles, there may be special prizes for getting lots of explorations in! There will also be event-based explorations at specific locations. These will give out familiars and possibly items as prizes!

History with pride: Arkani was born into the pride and grew up with a desire to be the very best, like no one ever was. As he got older that fire in his belly calmed as he realized his true calling in life was to help and serve those in his pride. He became an officer to help enforce the rules of the pride, as well to keep it safe from outsiders. As he grew, so did his strength and skills. He proved himself to the retiring Commanding Officer and took the burden of keeping the pride at peace and safe onto his shoulders. Just recently an opening in the Elite caught his attention and, after speaking with the Champion, was selected to fill the roll.

She really missed her pokemon pride and has been searching for something similar ever since. She is super ecstatic to have it reborn.

Haha, I can add a stipulation that cosplays can pick one of their types, or roll if they want to.

It would only be legitimate cosplays, though. The ones on the list.

Haha, I can add a stipulation that cosplays can pick one of their types, or roll if they want to.

It would only be legitimate cosplays, though. The ones on the list.

That works for me. =D

I am all over this shiz.

I know it's my destiny!
Username: SilverLutz
Name: Arkani
Image: Uncert
Type: Fire - on cosplay list
Desired Rank: I'd love to snag an Elite spot, but if that doesn't fly, commanding officer/regular officer will work just fine.
Pre-existing? Yes

Name: Etain and Ulrike

Type: Fire!
Desired Rank: Ranger or Top Ranger
Pre-existing? yes
History with pride: She was a ranger before and loved to be out adventuring and exploring, meeting new soa. When the pride disbanded she felt really lost and simply wandered. Etain picked up a grouchy serval with similiar coloring and markings to herself. Despite Ulrike's crotchetiness, the pair gets along fine. She really missed her pokemon pride and has been searching for something similar ever since. She is super ecstatic to have it reborn.
