[PRP] Anything But the Hat! (Alma and Beau)

It had been a week since he decided to set out on his journey into the wilderness, an empty pack on his back. Being of the scholarly type, many of his afternoons were filled with him in a comfortable chair, a cup of tea and a good book from the City Library. It was only a matter of time before he came across a book about the jungle. So many of the most expensive foods he enjoyed, bananas, cocoa beans, and mangoes, all came from Loka Nei jungle. Naturally the first thought that came to mind was to take a trip down there. For scientific reasons of course.

One could read dozens of books about a subject, but the best way to really know about an area was to go there in paeson. Of course reading did come with advantages. He knew what plants and insects to avoid, and his side pack held anything he might need such as healing herbs and bandages. His hip held a sizable knife for defense and cutting down obstacles, while his hands held a pad of paper and charcoal to jot down various notes.

Up in the trees, a young lady travels her own path around her home forest. Today was just a scouting trip. All of her supplies are stone, and stone was not the most plentiful. It was still irritating that she couldn't work with wood the way she could work with stone.

For that reason, she played in the trees going from branch to branch just looking around as she still worked on a solution. Perfect would be to find someone was good with trees so they'd have everything they need. Next best, was do it herself. Alma did not shy away form hard work and was just fine with that idea as well.

Just where would she build her dreams? Preoccupied thoughts almost had her miss a branch but she managed it. From that mishap, she stands still on her branch looking down as it sounded like someone was walking below.

From anyone looking on the outside, they'd no doubt see Beau as an unsuspecting future meal for a predator. But as he quickly sketched an exotic flower, his sharp hearing caught the soft sound of feet hitting a branch above. In a flash of movement his pad of paper dropped and his knife gleaned in front of him. His teal eyes lifted up to catch a shadow of a creature above. Too much foliage in the way to see. The male cautiously moved to try and find an opening in the leaves, his blade held at the ready. He had read some primates could prove territorial.

But as he edged around, soon it became quite apparent that it was no ape that hung above him. It was a pae. Blinking, he walked back over to grab his pad of paper before beating his wings to rise up. "Hello?!" Beau called up as he ascended.

There was no mistaking her friend and dancing partner from the big dance. Between the distinctive wings and the fascinating hat, she'd know Beau form anywhere. For a moment she poised to dart at him, meet him full speed in the air to give him a strong hug. The hat called to her and she decided to try another route. If that failed, flying hug.

Alma made her way around the trunk of the tree coming out on the other side from her spot earlier. Right where she could see it was the object of chosen introduction. With no hesitation she reached out to attempt to pluck the Fez from his head to commander it for her own. It was all in good fun with no malice at all in her behavior.

It seemed as soon as he spoke, the pae flew away! He blinked, landing on the branch that the pae was just a moment ago. Did he scare them off? He frowned lightly, teal eyes flicking around. Then suddenly, his head felt remarkably cooler! A hand went to the top of his cranium. "My hat!" Beau spun around just in time to catch sight of the red head culprit. She was bigger than he recalled, but there was no mistaking that Cheshire grin. "Alma!"

Smiling wildly Alma proudly sported the stolen borrowed hat. It fit so much better now that she was older and bigger! Taking the time to strike a pose she proudly stood chest out hands on her hips and chin up, and a smile with the ends curling. Not that it lasted long, without a concern for silly things like gravity and balance, the young woman then threw herself forward towards Beau arms out to properly greet him.

Cheering, "BEAU!" she proceeded to keep talking as her mouth went running. "I missed you! How have you been? Awesome party! I really missed you! The hat too, missed the hat." Giggling without a care in the world, Alma was fully on cloud nine. Her date had been so much fun that she had forgotten Beau was going to walk her home. Really bad Alma. But he was here now, so it was all right! The island was really big, it would have been a shame not to see him again.
