Post Medical Procedure

He had spent all day trying not to think too much or freak out about what was going on that day. Yin would be fine, he told himself. The Nurse wouldn't let anything bad happen.

He'd been asked not to go with him, and while it had hurt his heart to agree and stay behind, he had understood why Yin hadn't wanted him there. So, in an effort to busy himself that morning, he had tried an assortment of distractions. Reading (he couldn't concentrate on the words), listening to music at full volume in his dorm room (every song seemed to be written about him and Yin and they just made him worry more), playing video games (he kept losing, frustratingly, over and over again until the point where he finally stood up and threw his chair into the wall).

This wasn't right. That was his fiancé. He should be there. How had he let Yin talk him into not being there??

His anxiety over the situation was cutting into him deeply, a thousand scores against an unbeating heart that could apparently still bleed pain. He had to go. He had to at least know that Yin was ok.....

-----

The nurse had turned him away. Of course she had. Alex never felt like she would ever truly accept him into Yin's life. But she had at least let him know one thing. Yin was alive. Yin was recovering and would likely be fine.

The relief that washed over him had been indescribable, and when he returned to the campus dorms, it was the weremantis's room that he shuffled to, to be there when the boil returned.

Yin was not entirely sure when he got to the monster dormitory. He remembered his mother's office, and apparently he had been so caught up in his own thoughts he had not even realized that he had crossed the campus. Shrugging to himself Yin took the stairs two at a time up to the second floor, hoping but not certain that he would fine Alexander waiting for him.

Despite it being his room he still knocked when he got to it, but did not wait before twisting the handle open and entering. Something loosened in his chest when he saw the zomboil there, and he gave him a small, but slightly nervous smile, fingers twitching at his side. "The operation was a success."

Now all he had to do was wait and make sure that his chest shining bright like a diamond was not anything to make Alexander back away from him in horror or something.

Waiting had not become easier just by knowing that Yin had made it through the procedure ok, but it had become decidedly less agonizing in the heart department. Still, he tried to be patient. He played with the mini pets in Yin's room that would allow him to play with them (Fei was among these) and waited as the hours drug by and morning changed to afternoon which changed to dusk.

When he heard the knock at the door, he practically leapt up from his seat on the bed, so that he was standing and ready for when Yin walked in.

A bright grin that lit up the zomboils face greeted the weremantis, and Alex's usual shuffle transformed into strides as he closed the distance between them, eyes only on Yin's, his elation dizzying as he wrapped arms at round his fiancé in a careful, gentle hug.

Moments later he would freak out a bit over the glow that had somehow gone completely unnoticed.

But for now? Silent bliss.

Yin was not sure what was more startling. Alexander moving (relatively) quickly or Alexander being silent.

Still he could understand it, and for now he was receptive to Alexander's advances. With only a minuscule amount of hesitation he was wrapping his arms around Alexander's waist, burying his face into his shoulder and delighting in the fact that with their chests pressed together he could not see that unearthly glow.

The yawn building in his throat was something he could not fight, and muffled as it was by the zomboil it was still apparent. He had slept the afternoon away, but still he felt drained. Probably another of those temporary side effects that had been impossible to determine before hand. Pretty much everything had been possible, and a bit of exhaustion was nothing in the scheme of things.

It was probably the combination of relief and exhaustion that had him sagging forward, part of his weight resting on Alexander. "It is finally gone. It is over." He was telling Alexander, but at the same time he was reminding himself. Trying to remember that it was real.

While normally any moment with Yin, especially those consisting of physical contact, would have been moments of delight for Alexander, this time it was something...more. It was special, something seemingly more remarkable and profound. It was the moment when they could finally stop worrying, and move past something terrible that had happened. He had never thought that this day would ever come!

"I'm so glad. So glad." He murmured, reveling in the feel of having Yin in his arms again, in the feel of him as he pressed against Alex. It was a moment that he didn't want to have to end, but he could feel the way Yin's body sagged against him, could hear the muffled sound of a yawn.

"You must be exhausted." He looked down at Yin, and while he was still hesitant to let him go.....

"Come on. Come and lay down." He said, backing up slowly towards the bed.

Yin did not have it in him to do any more than simply agree. Later they could discuss the details and if Alexander had any questions he could answer them then. For now it was time to bask in the fact that the ordeal was over and sleep.

Mostly sleep.

Shampoo

Yin squeezed the small amount of shampoo that he typically used into the palm of his hand before closing the bottle and setting it aside. He quickly smoothed it into his hair, working it into a lather and rinsing it out.

His eyes landed on the shampoo bottle and he picked it up, squeezing the small amount of shampoo that he typically used into the palm of his hand before closing the bottle and setting it aside. It was almost out, he would have to remember to pick some up soon. He quickly smoothed it into his hair, working it into a lather and rinsing it out.

His eyes landed on the shampoo bottle and he picked it up, squeezing and shaking the bottle before he finally got out the small amount of shampoo that he typically used into the palm of his hand before closing the bottle and setting it aside. It was out, he might have one more use of it before he would have to start a new bottle. Odd, he had not remembered it being that low. He quickly smoothed it into his hair, working it into a lather and rinsing it out, wondering why his scalp was oddly tender as he got out of the shower and dried off.

He hung the towel up and turned to snag his clothes, picking up his dirty shirt that had fallen to hang it up before he got dressed. He put the shirt on the hook and then got into the shower, squeezing out the last of the bottle into his hand. Strange, he thought he had shampoo left, he would have to go get more. He worked it into his hair and got out, drying off and wondering for a second why his towel was damp.

He was about to get into the shower when he noticed his shampoo bottle was empty. Normally he threw them away when he was finished so he frowned at it before putting his clothes back on. He would wait to put on his clean clothes until after his shower. For now perhaps Alexander would have some shampoo he could borrow before he bought more. A long shot to be sure, but it was worth a try.

He made his way back to his room, knocking before entering. "Alexander? I did not realize I was out of shampoo, do you have any I can borrow?"

Shampoo

There was always something jarring about the way Yin knocked on his own room door before entering, as if he somehow thought that by doing so he would give Alexander time to...what? Hide if he was doing something unseemly? All he was ever doing was reading a book or playing on his eyephone. Still, as if by habit, Alex swung his legs over the edge of the bed and stood up to greet him, phone slipping back into his pocket. He was already smiling, already about to say "Hey!" When Yin cut him off with a question.

Alexander tilted his head to the side, frowning slightly. "I don't think so....Wait, you've been gone this long and you just realized that you don't have any shampoo?" It was also pretty evident from the damp look of Yin's hair that the weremantis had gotten into the shower. Maybe he'd just been scrubbing the rest of himself clean first?

Personal hygiene and all of it's wonder was clearly a mystery to the zomboil, who knew not of how it worked.

It was always different and a nice surprise when Alexander stood for him, and a pleasant sensation that seemed to resonate from his ring finger moved through him. But the shampoo issue was the more pressing need. But Alexander's words were slightly confusing and he frowned at him.

"This long? I just left." Sure, it might have taken Alexander a bit of time to get to the showers, but Yin knew he did not move that slowly. He was not overly surprised that Alexander was out of shampoo, but Yin could probably find some somewhere. If he roamed the halls again he might find the monster dormitory supply closet. Maybe. Or maybe he would see someone he knew if he loitered in the bathrooms long enough and he could borrow some. "I guess I will go try to find some."

This was all very confusing. He could have sworn that Yin had left to go and shower ages ago. Had it really only been a minute or two? It wasn't like Alexander had kept track of it on a clock or anything.

And still, that wouldn't explain why Yin's hair appeared wet....unless it was just particularity damp and steamy in the communal showers area (because Alex wouldn't have a single clue, not even the slightest).

"No, wait." Alexander was frowning now, and he stepped forward, reaching out as though to grab Yin's arm, head tilting to the side slightly as he peered at him. A sniff of the air provided him with a mixed scent of somebody who was freshly cleaned and scrubbed, combined with an only slightly less fresh scent that might have been emanating from Yin's clothes.

But Yin almost always smelled clean, so that wasn't exactly anything new. "I'll uh..I'll come with you. I should probably....maybe get cleaned up as well."

He actually didn't mean a word of it. He just felt very much like something was....off. Maybe if he could just watch Yin shower, he could make sure the other boil was really okay!

.....He could suddenly feel his neck heating up slowly at the thought.

It was odd that Alexander was, well, sniffing him, but Yin was used to his bonded being slightly odd at times. He held still, shooting the zomboil a puzzled look but saying nothing.

What actually came out of Alexander's mouth was shocking. If Yin had been a weaker man he might have fainted, or at least had his knees give out. As it was he stared at the zomboil and slowly nodded. Alexander was going to clean up. He would have to tell Lady Van Rotte at the next opportunity.

"I would like that," Yin said with a smile. "Shall we?" He opened the door for his fiance, then paused, frowning. "Oh, you probably need to get your things together. I can carry them for you if you would like." He shut the door, turning toward the closet, and pulled out another towel before pausing, hand hovering for a second uncertainly as he glanced down at the towel already in his arms and then slowly backed away.

Studying

Alexander needed help studying, and while he knew that Yin wasn't overly fond of reading, he had only asked that the boil read out, at random, a few of the questions located on one of the last pages of the textbook, which was entitled "How To Safely Scare", which he would then answer and check himself to make sure that he had answered correctly.

Placing himself cross legged on the floor of the weremantis's room, with fingers laced in front of himself, he waited for the first question.

This definitely was not his favorite thing in the world to do, but for his bonded he would do his best. He paced around the seated zomboil, needing the movement to think as he absentmindedly scratched at the now-barely-glowing wound on his chest.

Yin cleared his throat, trying not to be nervous when it was just him and Alexander. He smoothed out the paper needlessly, read one of the questions to himself, and then started reading it out loud. "When scaring a teenage girl, what techniques are most effective for the least amount of risk?"

Studying

Alexander only took a moments pause before answering. "Shadow play, quiet noises, quick, eerie reflections in glass or mirrors. It's okay to keep things simple, as teenage girls often scare quite easily. You can really get into their heads, psychologically speaking. Subtlety is key."

He grinned, fairly certain that he had answered correctly.

Yin nodded at the answers, then flashed a grin back at Alexander when he finished. "Right as usual," he murmured, proud to have such an intelligent fiance.

He looked back down at the paper, trying to figure out where they were.

Oh right, Alexander was waiting on him to get started. "When scaring a teenage girl, what techniques are most effective for the least amount of risk?"

Studying

Alexander grinned in response, glad once again that Yin had agreed to help him with this. He promised himself to only make the weremantis endure a couple more questions before they took a break to do something else, not wanting to give the boil a headache from prolonged literary exposure.

He adjusted himself into a more comfortable position leaning back on his hands while he waited for the next question.

And then blinked when it came, the question the exact same as the one Yin had only just asked.

"Do you mean teenage boil?" He asked, a puzzled frown on his face.
