Swimming through the cool waters of the lake, Hjortur kept his eyes before him and his mind clear as a grin threatened to break against his lips. Not a few days prior he'd received a summons to come to the land and meet with his goddess once more. How she had managed to contact him was a mystery beyond his understanding, but that was of little concern. All that mattered was that they could once again meet, if for but a few fleeting hours.

For this celebration, he carried with him the bottle from their summer past, of that time on the beach. They had promised to partake in it some time in the future, so why not this time?

As for Pippin, he wasn't entirely irresponsible. She was with his mother in the castle, the little apple being spoiled rotten by that handmaiden. Would he have chosen to bring the girl with him to the city if he had know that it would imply that he would become her caretaker? Well... Probably, yeah. He couldn't have just left a child to her own in such poor conditions with nobody to care for her?

But for now, for this moment, all that mattered was him and Thalia, the goddess of his celebrations. Breaking the surface once he hit shallow waters, he shook the droplets from his hair before looking around for her figure.

Thalia took a long stretch, feeling some measure of satisfaction when she felt and heard her joints release. She'd deserved this break for quite a bit she told herself. She'd only be gone for a little while. Just a little while, and then back to the hustle and bustle of Venus' court. She had a job to do, after all. Being a goddess of celebrations was not all fun and games. There was a lot of background work that went into them - work that guests could not be allowed to be aware of.

That would spoil the illusion, after all.

She wiggled her toes in the sand and soil under her feet, taking a measure of childish satisfaction at the feel of it. Childishness disappeared, however, when she heard sounds out in the water that did not match up with the gentle waves on the surface of the lake. She had indeed called for Hjortur; had he arrived? Rocking up onto the balls of her feet, she looked out over the water, a broad smile spreading across her face when she saw him close to shore.

He didn't seem to see her, however, at least not at first, so she called his name and waved broadly to catch his attention while at the same time jogging to meet him down at the waterline. The sunlight glittering off the water he shook from his hair made her smile a bit, and she was smiling as she waded out towards him.

A bright grin spread across Hjortur's face as he heard his name, his eyes immediately turning to look at the one calling it. Kicking so that his upper body was above the surface, he happily waved back to her with his free hand. "Afternoon Thalia~!" At this, he held up their bottle and pointed to it. "Look what I've brought." After speaking, he returned beneath the surface until the waters were sufficiently shallow enough for him to sit up.

"How have you been since we were last together?" he asked as she came to him, the water dripping from his hair, skin, and fins in small streams. She seemed so tall, so majestic as she stood beside him with the sun a mere halo to add wonder to her slim figure.

It had really been much, much too long since they had last spent time together.

Warmth nearly came to his cheeks as he remembered the aftermath of that party on Valentine's, how he'd returned with her and spent the night in pure bliss. As he lifted his fin to kick of more water and aid in the drying process, he offered the bottle to her. "For you, milady~"

The water was nice and cool, and she was quite content to sit down near him so that they were closer to eye-level and wiggle her toes in it. Her interest was further kindled at him displaying that bottle. Good, good! How long had it been? She really wasn't sure; she'd honestly lost track of time between all the other things she'd had to do.

"Too long," she chuckled, taking the bottle from him. She gave him a good-natured quirked eyebrow at the honorific, but didn't say anything about it, turning the bottle over in her hands, rubbing her thumb over the glass. Holding the cork between her forefinger and thumb, she leaned against him a little. Not enough to be of any real weight, but enough to be felt. "So, half for me, and half for you~?"

Joining in her laugh as she took the bottle, Hjortur looked away from her and out to the lake. Yes, it had been far too long indeed. Noticing that she was going to sit beside him, he stopped trying to dry his fin out and returned it instead to the water. Honestly, that's where he was most comfortable, but he had been known to get pretty close to drying out on more than one occasion. Usually he had his cup to help out, but with that missing and all now... well... he had to be a bit more careful about it.

Looking back to her, the naiad gave Thalia a single nod as he noticed her prepared to open their 'prize' from many seasons ago. Or, at least he hoped it was a price (as it could just as easily be something unpleasant). "That sounds like a perfect proposition," he replied, bending forward slightly at the same time to motion for her to open it. If she tried to offer him first drink, he'd reply with a smooth wave of the hand and an persuasive "After you." Once she'd had a drink, he'd ask, "Was it to your liking?" before waiting for it to be passed to him.

She took a cautionary sip from the little bottle, noting aloud that it was sweet, but mild. Like honey, almost, but not so cloying that it might make her gag. Thalia rolled it over her tongue, admittedly savouring it, before taking the rest of her half of the bottle. "It's good," she replied, pleased, as she handed it to him. "It's very good." Honey was one of her favourite things, and she delighted in the fact that whatever this was reminded her of it.
She was also pleased that they were staying close to the water. Thalia was well aware that Hjortur would, as a naiad, be most comfortable there, and it didn't really make a difference to her either way. She was a strong enough swimmer that she could tread water if needed, even if she'd at least prefer to stay were she could stand up. Thalia did have to admit, though, that she liked the figure he cut in the water and wouldn't mind admiring that again. She kept this to herself, however, not entirely certain how it would be received.
"What do you think of it?" she asked, gesturing to the bottle.

Sweet? Well, that was a good sign at least, and Thalia seemed to be enjoying it; oh how he delighted in seeing her smile. It was simple moments like this that reminded him of how lucky he was to be spending it with such a beautiful and talented women and brushed away any doubts he might have had in himself. Yes, she was a goddess, but she still chose to spend this time with him in spite of that.

What more could he ask for?

Taking the bottle from her, the Hjortur smiled as he pressed it against his own lips. An initial swig he took, pausing to contemplate the taste. It reminded him of the sweet chocolate liquors he partaken in at the engagement party, but there was also a salty brininess that brought back memories spent on the island so many seasons ago. Somehow the two paired well. "It tastes of pleasant memories," he commented back after those silent moments before raising it again to finish it.

Once empty, he lay the glass beside him before looking to her again. "It was good; very good." the naiad used her exact words in reply, a quick glance-over of her allowing him to note how the water shined against her flawless skin. Looking to the sky, he wondered aloud, "The seasons are changing again; had we met instead in a few weeks, you might not have been able to join me in the water." With a smile, he returned his eyes to her. "Not that I would have thought even but a moment about leaving it should you have asked it of me." He laughed lightly, adding. "If but only for a few fleeting moments spent in one another's company."

"Ah, the poetry you use on me," she teased goodnaturedly, leaning forward to trail eddies in the water with a finger. "Though I will say that I might have to move more slowly, but I'm not that thin-skinned." Thalia's smile showed that she was still teasing, and she shifted closer to lean against him more. "The water is very pleasant right now, though. We can go a bit more into it, if you'd like?" she offered, gesturing out towards the rest of the lake. Swimming was actually starting to sound like a very good idea, if she had to say so herself. Her work did not afford her much time for that sort of recreation. In fact... Without waiting very long for an answer, she rolled to her feet and waded out to waist-height, throwing a grin over her shoulder towards him.

He was obviously going to be a stronger, faster, better swimmer than she, but she couldn't help splashing water in his general direction in challenge and diving under the surface.

She was feeling very playful.

Nearly biting his lip, Hjortur had to censor himself to keep a sigh from escaping his lips as she pressed more of herself against him. Her body was so warm, so captivating. Letting his tail move without direction, he couldn't help but close his eyes for a moment and just listen to her melodious voice. He again opened them as she mentioned the lake, catching just the tail-end of her gesture. As he opened his mouth to comment, he immediately closed it to laugh as she moved out away from him.

"Well, if you insist...~" he cooed, his own movement quickly trailing hers as he submerged himself, unaware of her plot to move on him. At least, until he resurfaced to a splash of water against his face. Laughing as he wiped it, he called out "Now you have done it!" before turning himself around to splash her back with his tail.

Again, though, she was too fast for him and dodged the blow.

Well, he could get behind this development in any case.

Returned beneath the surface, he quickly swam to her side and circled her once quickly, then again more slowly with his hands reaching forward to take hold of hers and spin her with him. It was like they were back at Venus' dance competition, only underwater. And alone.

(we can totally do a fade to black whenever it's convenient, btw! You don't have to wait for me to do that, haha.)

Honestly, the only reason she was fast enough to dodge the return fire was because she'd figured it was coming. As it was, he was still much faster than she in the water, and so she didn't try too terribly hard to outswim him. Instead, as he took her hands and they began to spin, she went along with it quite enthusiastically. She kept her wings close to her body to try and reduce drag as much as possible, only breaking away from this new dance at all when they were close enough to the surface for her to grab a quick lungful of air. The "alone" part, though...

She'd noticed that, herself.

As one of their spins came to a more languid stop, Thalia gave a small kick, just enough to get the top of her head above water. Tossing her head back and taking a breath, she then pulled herself back down towards him. She gave him a smile, and then gave him a kiss.

This was just the sort of terribly fun, terribly honest moments that Hjortur had grown fond of spending with Thalia. No restrictions, no constraints; no worries or mentions of the outside world. It was just he and she, hands together in a way that felt all sorts of right. One day he'd have to introduce the young Pippin to her; if that little girl thought him a prince as she did, she would surely think even more of a real goddess.

Sometimes, he liked to think of her as his goddess.

Though in a sense, there were times when she did feel as if she were his, and he hers. Never forever, who in their mind would ever try to constrain a goddess to just one place and one time, but enough to keep him satisfied with life.

When she planted a kiss on his lips, the naiad about drifted away in sheer bliss.

Rather than do that, though, he leaned forward to give her one back. Oh how this just sent shivers up his spine and seemed to dull all processes not involved with the soft and warm feel of her. Wouldn't he like to get more of that-- a flashback to the night following Valentine's nearly flushed his face, though it certainly heated up the water directly about his head.

Yes... Wouldn't he like some more of that. Pulling her in a bit closer to his body, he wondered if she might want it as well.
