Mwezi Cub Contests! - Winners

The political situation has moved to a stand-still within the Mwezi’Johari pride. Quiet unrest plagues what peace the lions there have found. A new challenge presents itself to three unsuspecting lions; five cubs. Five innocent new lives greet their rabidly changing world. Will it soon be torn by war?

1. You may enter for either or both cubs if you qualify for both
2. Painted Moose and I, magna, will be judging entries
3. Understand that while these cubs do not have to join the Mwezi'Johari it will be preferred.
4. Be positive. If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.
5. Due to special circumstances, should these cubs join the M’J they have been rolled as Middle Class and witnessed.
6. You must PM your quiz to magna or your entry for either cub will not be counted! We want to make sure you've read the info on the pride.

~ Meet the Family ~

Parents:
Runa - Goal driven is the best way to describe Runa. She's been isolated for much of her life, learning to rely on her own skills since she was small and that mindset gave her a very jaded view of the world. Meshach has brought light to her world, and led to the showing of a little playful side that had long since been buried. She's tender, when she wants to be, and it's going to be on her own time. There is no room for weakness in her world, and as such she's very critical of herself and others. As of now she's rather grumpy, which is close to admitting she's happy with her motherhood as she's going to get.

Meshach - He used to be a laid back and low profile male of the high class. He found himself forced to follow his morality to do the right thing when he learned that his nephew had murdered his parents. Meshach fiercely believes the Great Lion will not allow a murderer to sit on the throne for long. He is determined to do anything within his power to free the pride from the tyrant under which it has fallen. Though he is working to remove Shangyue, Meshach has no desire to be crowned king.

The Cubs:
Yue'shi owned by Painted Moose(lunar eclipse)- First born. Yue'shi is a naturally fearful cub. Thanks to her mother's stories she assumes everything that goes bump in the night is out to get her, so there will likely never be a time in her youth that she's ever alone. Whether it's clinging to her father, riding on her mother's tail or leeching on a sibling, Yue'shi will be protected. As she grows she will stay sweet and caring around her family, even those deemed trustworthy, but around those she doesn't know...watch out! This girl takes a bi-polar twist into a vicious attitude that will cut you down in your sleep!

Meztli Ayaka owned by magnadearel(moon color flower)- She is the younger twin and second born. Ayaka isn't shy in the least. She is bold with just a hint of cheek thrown in for good fun. Her demeanor comes across as strong and confident. She will work her way through any situation. Despite her age Ayaka has charisma and charm in aplenty. She enjoys being the flower of her parent's eyes. Even though she is female and the second born, she is protective of her siblings; this female willingly puts herself between them and whatever they fear. One quirk she does have is in how her name is used. Anyone she's just met, or those she doesn't know well, will know her as Meztli; whilst family and close friends only may call her Ayaka.

Chandran owned by Sabra Knight(The Moon; Shining)- forth born. Chandran is an older soul in a cub's body who prefers to listen rather than speak. However, just because he is normally quiet does not mean that he lacks in charisma and a sharp tongue. (Around some sarcasm will be his specialty.) Still his quiet nature is so that he can learn from others and be always on guard to keep his family safe. While he grows Chandran will make certain to continue getting stronger so that he can keep his loved ones safe from any harm. His quiet presence will serve as a comfort and a guard to any who need him, while for any who hurt those dear to him...that presence will be far from a comfort for them.

Prompt 1: Your parents have always been frank and honest with you about what they are doing in regards to the M’J. Your father is basically trying to incite a rebellion against his own nephew, your cousin, who is the current king of the pride. He has told you that your cousin murdered your grandparents (Meshach’s parents). How do you feel about this? What is your take on the whole situation?

Prompt 2: The eldest cub, and twin, is rather fearful around anyone she doesn’t know. In fact she tends to stick to someone like a burr. Your other older sister, and younger twin, is strong and bold in front of…. well everything. Where do you fall? What do you do when the oldest twin attaches herself to you? Do you comfort or try to fob her off onto her twin? How do you feel that the younger twin thinks she can protect you?

Name: Thoth
Meaning: Unknown; Egyptian god of the moon, science, magic, speech and writing. Totally named for his grandpa
Desired Rank: Guard
Personality: Thoth is, like the god he's(unknowingly) named for, interested in science and writing. Or rather, he's interested in making a system of writing for lions to use(He is, of course, entirely unaware of Maji of the Mistweavers having done the same already). While he is more than happy to protect those around him, he also feels a need to protect knowledge. A part of him wishes he could have been born a class higher so he could be a priest of history, but he's also content to be where he is until the Great Lion deems him worthy of something else.
Plots: Thoth will join his parents, for certain! And if Shangyue's overthrow hasn't happened yet, he may or may not be up for joining the Doomsday Cult... Mostly to see what it's about and to remember it to tell future generations about. "During the days of the terror-reign of Shangyue, a doomsday cult formed... They said the end was nigh! I think."

Thoth lay on his back, staring up at the sky above. The moon was growing fat again, heading toward his father's birth moon. His birth moon... It was also the birth moon of his grandmother, and his cousin. His cousin who had killed their grandparents... One of them, the cub had been named for. A living memory, if at least in name, of a lion now gone. As he watched the twinkling stars, he scratched an itch on his chest, a rich and dark, if bright, purple, processing it all again.

Father was trying to incite a rebellion, little by little. The cub, while not worldly in knowledge, did rather like his methodology. Little by little, he gathered his rebel army, preparing to strike. Soon Shangyue's reign of terror would be over... Hopefully. He did approve of the idea, removing somebody who'd gained the throne through illicit means. He was a bit worried, though. What if another evil lion took Shangyue's place? What would happen then? Would they have to do this all over again?

A cloud drifted across the night sky, silent and gentle as it blotted out stars and moon alike. Thoth's mind quietted down as it went by, and he smiled. It was as if the Great Lion had spoken - Don't worry about that far into the future, there was a plan for the closer times. There was nothing MUCH to worry about.

One ear twitched, as he swore he heard somebody calling him - A brother or sister - and called, "COMING!" He looked at the sky one last time, then got up and ran off. He was still a cub, he had time yet before things became a problem! He'd enjoy the here and now and worry about the future later!

Name: Lila'buwan
Meaning: Roughly "purple moon" in Filipino
Desired Rank: Guard


Personality: Lila is a lion that is often conflicted. He prefers to follow his gut instincts and make decisions based on what he knows or has seen, but when that disagrees with what others say or do, he often doubts himself. He also puts a lot of pressure on himself to make others appreciate him and his skills, to the point that he will put himself in situations he doesn't know how to handle. Usually Lila ends up keeping his mouth shut and following along, even though he may end up in an uncomfortable spot that may have been avoided if he was quicker to act on his own terms.

Socially, Lila can be awkward and stuttering, especially around strangers, but he generally likes other creatures and doesn't mind big groups. Unfortunately, Lila is such a bad judge of character, he often puts himself at risk of being manipulated or tricked.


Plots: He will join his parents and follow their example, but he won't whole-heartedly agree with his father, and won't be dedicated to overthrowing Shangyue. If things go sour, he may even join Shangyue's side.

No matter how hard his parents tried to explain politics to him, Lila'buwan always felt a little lost.

His father spoke adamantly about Shangyue's treachery, and how much blood he shed to grasp the throne in his claws. He described murders, manipulations, betrayals... it was all a very interesting story

But was it just a story? Lila gave his father some benefit of the doubt since he was so young, and hadn't lived through the incident... But other than unrest coming from the pride members themselves, Lila wasn't convinced that Shangyue's rule was a bad thing. Some lions seemed perfectly happy with how things were, and why not? Life was good in the pride as long as everyone worked hard. Lila was already learning some of the basic skills he'd need to protect the pride when he was older, and he was pretty proud of his accomplishments.

Sometimes he wondered if his father, and others like him, were the reasons there was unrest. As long as they were spreading their stories and trying to recruit others to their cause, the pride would remain divided and doubting. Of course, he didn't blame his father for that... it was his parents - Lila's grandparents! - that had been killed. But had they been the best rulers for the pride? What if Shangyue, if the stories were true, had a bigger purpose in mind, that could benefit them?

Perhaps Lila'buwan was just naive. But until he saw some real evidence for either side, politics would continue to confuse him.
