Zapalito was fairly sure he'd never, ever be tired of wandering. There was something exciting about greeting each new dawn on a new landscape. The horizon was never the same, and he never met the same people twice.

Well, okay. That part might be a little sad. especially because, since his pride had disbanded, he hadn't really seen much of his family. Or any of it really.

But that was okay. They knew he had wandering blood in his veins and it had been only a matter of time until he'd set off. Even if his home hadn't fallen apart he would have gone roaming. And he was enjoying the life he'd chosen, always on the move.

Today was another day, and what a day at that! He'd spotted it in the distance the night before, right before he found shelter for the night - a desert! He'd been born in one, and his mother's family before him had come from another desert. One had been full of warriors, another full of priests. He hadn't been certain that this was one of those deserts (he doubted it was - he hadn't headed back the way he'd come or towards where he'd been told his family had come from, and he had a fine sense of direction thank you very much!) but he'd had to force himself to wait until day break to set out for it. There was something familiar and soothing about the gentle mush of sand between his toes, and he just couldn't wait to look around! Wit ha stretch the shaggy lion took off at a romp, too eager to pay much mind to anything but the sun-blushed sand on the horizon.

Sulieabhan shared similar thoughts about wandering. Only it wasn't because of wanting to see new places. Being tied down just wasn't his thing. Some say he had commitment issues, at least until they learned about the fact Sulie actually had a mate (even if he was unwilling to say it out loud). No, Godstalker wasn't his mate, he was... something special but not a mate. He was stubborn okay?

Still, the oddly marked cheetah stretched himself out as he breathed in the morning air, still wet with dew. Yuuma, his shadow, pretty much, was curled up with his leopard companion and Morgy. They were all still sleeping and he took this as a chance to slip away. Not that anyone would actually be surprised. Sulie did this a lot. Every day, in fact, for two years since he'd met up with the leopard and had felt.. things.

In his wanderings, Sulieabhan came across a desert and he hesitated a moment. They were hot and dry and usually there weren't any females there. Still, there might be. There used to be a pride out there, didn't there? Maybe some lingering females would be persuaded to spend time with him. He took a moment to think, looking back at the grassy area he'd come from a bit a go, and then out at the dry sand before him. Welp. He would come back to the leopard as per promise. Just not until tonight. So, he set off at his own pace, glad he had rough paw pads for once.

Zapalito's eager trot ate away at the grassy distance between himself and the vast dunes of sand. Well at least, it eventually became vast dunes. At the edge it was mostly empty dirt and some rocks. Still, it only took him perhaps an hour to cross that barren patch and reach the gently shifting goal of the dunes. His lips pulled and curled into a smile - this was the sort of place he belonged! It just felt right (gritty, clinging, cloying almost) between his toes, and he let out a rather boisterous whoop, kicking up grains as he increased his pace, overeager to leave the vast grasslands behind.

A flicker of white and black and red between the low rises of sand caught his eye as he almost-frolicked along and made his grin all the wider. Well bless his mane! Hadn't his family told him his ancestors' pride was full of all red and white and black and orange lions? He had been dead sure he wasn't heading that way at all, but it WAS possible he'd gotten turned around... Admittedly, if it WAS them he'd best be on guard. They were huge, he'd been told, and tough. Vicious at times even. But he was far, far too chipper to worry on that now!

"Helloooo~!" He called out towards where he thought he'd seen the shape moving. Practice gave him agility to scramble up the steeper ridge of grit that kept him from spying on whom or whatever he'd seen, and he made short work of it. In the meantime the shape had moved off a pace, but he could still see enough of it to decide that yes, it HAD been mostly white and black. But it looked a bit small when he'd been told to watch out for behemoths... "Helloooooo!" He hallooed again, tail lashing behind him as he waited for the moving thing to slow or stop and regard him back.

It really wouldn't do to charge at a potential warrior, or sneak up on one, after all!

Sulie wasn't really paying attention to his surroundings, as far as what it looked like. He was on the look out or pretty little females to fluster and swoon. Sand. it was all stupidly bright, hot sand. Cheetahs weren't meant for the desert, he was sure of it. Red eyes narrowed. He was starting to wonder why he'd thought this was a good idea. His tail flicked this way and that as he continued on his way, dainty paws almost keeping him out of the sand. Of course, he did sink a little, and stopping would be a bad idea.

However, stop he did. There was a voice calling out. Snapping his head, up, Sulie's eyes narrowed as he spotted a white thing in the distance. Well, it certainly wasn't female, but it could still be entertaining. "Hello!" He answered, voice almost bright at the potential to flirt with this one, too. Male ore female, flirting was in his blood.

"Stop yelling, I can hear you!"

Zap chuffed a bit as the figure called back to him. He still couldn't quite make it out - he'd forgotten how very bright deserts could be! The sand here was a bit pinker than he was used to, maybe there'd been red clay under it at one point? Who knew! Either way, it wasn't TOO bright, but bright enough. He'd just have to get closer then! He jogged down the rise of sand, letting gravity bring him along with a bit of extra speed.

"Sorry!" He yelled back again, "Just didn't want to miss you!" He was too eager to meet up with...whomever it was. He started to think that maybe this whomever it was wasn't part of his ancestral pride. The figure wasn't...too big, as he crept closer. Actually it was a bit small. It was...a cheetah! He'd not even thought it might be something other than a lion. Still, that was alright. He hadn't been terribly sure he'd fit in in that pride of warriors...and there was never, ever anything wrong with meeting a new face. Maybe they could tell him about this place!

"I was excited," He explained as he drew near. "It's been a few days since I saw anyone. And a desert! You live here? What's it like? Are there any prides or clans?"
