Bahra launched herself into action, choosing a likely target as she surged forward. A grey male with a ridiculous pink mane caught her eye, so it was to him she barreled. She roared as she approached, attempting to ensure that his attention was on her and her alone. He was larger than her, of course, so simply ramming him would be a very bad idea. Instead, she darted to the left as she reached him. Her right paw extended, claws out and seeking to rake his face. Anywhere she could catch her claws in his hide would be good, but she hoped for eyes or nose. She wasted no time on words, which were wasted on the enemy. She would use them if she had to, especially if it kept his attention her and not on her ally circling above.
Zinkia had climbed high once she'd alerted the attacking Qyrhyeshti. She wanted first to be certain no other Burk were within easy reach. They didn't need reinforcements pouring in. She circled wide, searching the surrounding desert, then returned with a high, screeching call. She floated along the edges of the oasis fight, peering downwards intently. Yes, there was Bahra, just now engaging with a male. Even in mid-air, the hawk bridled her feathers and flexed her talons. The time for her to join the fight wasn't quite right, but she'd be ready when her partner needed her.

Bahra grinned in vicious glee as she realized how off-balance her opponent was. This was exactly why they had chosen this timing to attack. It gave her added vigor as she dodged his clumsy attempt to ram her. A snarl twisted her lips as her paws danced aside, eyes sweeping for the next viable option for attacking. She was not a sit-back-and-wait kind of girl. She was an offensive fighter, taking advantage of any opportunity presented her.
As such, she scooped up a pawful of sand and threw it at the still bleeding cuts on the male's face. Whether the sand blinded him or merely stung in his wounds, she hoped it would give her enough of an opening. Darting in, she dove for his hind legs, hoping to injure the delicate tendon that allowed weight to be put on each leg. If she could injure him badly enough, it would further her chance of winning.
Overhead, meanwhile, Zinkia was not idle. Though she wasn't of any active help at the moment, there certainly could be things she could do to assist her partner below. She looked around for possible distractions, settling on a simplistic one. She arrowed down to a palm tree that towered above the fighting liones. She snipped a small palm leaf from its brethren before taking to the air again, leaf clutched in her claws. Coming to hover over Bahra again, she hoped this wouldn't distract her own partner. Bit by bit, she stripped the leaf of each frond and dropped it, letting each flutter freely down. Perhaps it could provide distraction enough to allow her sand-colored mistress to gain critical advantage over the male.
Moon_Princess_Yuki Remember to mark your HPs. I kinda forgot in my first post, but it was kinda moot for it anyway.

The sand trick worked, much to Bahra's feral delight. Still, she'd only grazed his hind legs, not doing very much damage at all, and now she herself was exposed. She swung her own hind end around and away from his swipe, hissing angrily at the grey male. She wasn't about to relent or give him room to breathe! She slid right up beside him, pausing just behind his elbow to reach up with her forepaw full of claws to try and rake at his throat beneath all that thick mane. It was a risky move, and not really one likely to succeed.
Even so, it put her in close proximity and in a difficult position for him to strike back from, if she could just stick to his side like a burr. The raining bits of palm went completely unnoticed. Too much was going on for them to have any real impact.
Well that was pointless! The brown hawk screeched her frustration and threw the palm stem at the pink-maned male. There had to be something she could do! This was her first inclusion in a fight, and it would shame her to just circle above uselessly! With an angry chitter she dove down and attempted to grab some of that pretty pink mane in her talons and tug on it, wings flapping furiously.

Bahra growled in frustration as her claws raked only mane. Perhaps it was time to be more forward about this... even if it meant putting herself in more danger. This wasn't for herself anyway. This wasn't a grudge match or a random skirmish. This was for an important oasis, a factor of power in the struggle. It was worth her life to gain that advantage, no matter how small it might be considered in the end.
She let him step away from her, pivoting around to face him. He was still squinting from the sand, good. She could use that. She waited until he swiped at his eyes, then launched herself at him again. This time, rather than dodge to either side, she dove low, praying she'd avoid his claws, and came up under his chin. Determined and desperate to put him out of commission, she attempted to sink her teeth into his throat, just below his jawline. If she could just get a grip there, she might be able to suffocate him. Of course, it also meant her back and sides were now completely vulnerable to his claws on either side.
Zinkia was finding mane to be rather hard to tug at with her hawk talons. It was slippery, giving her little to grip, and left her floundering in the air above the struggling lions. So when the male threw back his head and roared before swiping up at her, she let out a very undignified squawk and let go. She struggled to gain altitude again, finding it difficult above the cooler air of the oasis. No thermal drafts meant no easy ride upwards. Drat those Burk!

Another miss, and an injury to boot! Bahra was getting frustrated, to say the least. Her ears were pinned flat against her skull, and the fur down her spine was starting to stand up. She wasn't afraid, she was angry! She did not come all this way, with that borclu in their company no less, just to fail to take down her first opponent! She snarled, baring glittering fangs to the uncaring stars above. She would win this fight, or possibly die trying!
Throwing caution to the wind, she flung herself at him. She was partway to him when she leaped, forepaws spread and claws open. Mid-air, she brought her hind legs forward, those claws also extended and ready for action. Jaws open in further menace, she gave it her all. This male would not defeat her!
Above them, Zinkia spied Bahra flinging herself heedlessly at the single male she face. She scree'd in alarm and warning, pupils pinning in distress. This was not good. Her lioness partner should not lose focus and let her fury overcome her! She cried aloud again, circling lower, feather ruffling in the desert wind as she tried to get through to Bahra. "Use your head as much as your heart!" She wasn't certain how much of her message was heard or understood, but she had to try. What would she do if she lost her mistress so quickly after finding her?!

Close quarters then! She dodged his swipe at her face, snarling defiance. Wild with battle fury now, completely oblivious to the cries of her bird, she attempted to wrap one paw around his neck, meaning to sink her claws in to hold her close. Hopefully too close for him to get any power to his swings, though it would leave her vulnerable to his bites. That being said, he was also vulnerable to her bites like this!
Jaws gaping, a growl rattling her chest and growing to a bellowing roar, she snapped towards his face several times before turning her head and attempting to sink her fangs deep into the muscle where shoulder met chest. This wasn't a tactic meant to distract, nor was it meant merely to weaken. She was out for blood, and would rip not just hide but also muscle, if given the luck and opportunity.
The hawk was beside herself, frantic over the behavior of her feline charge. This was reckless, wild, dangerous behavior! Not that the hawk was against taking chances and risks, but Bahra seemed beyond all reason. Well, there was only one thing she could do... join in! With a screeching cry of abandon, the female hawk dove towards the male's face, talons reaching to rake at his ears or eyes. Whatever damage she could inflict, she would, for the sake of her mistress.
