"Judging by this berry bush I doubt there are any starving bears this year." Ciyana assured her sister, she knew the mare had made the comment in jest but she also knew that her sister worry wart ways would make her fret about it now that it had been mentioned - besides she was probably right, if this bush had such a productive year then others were bound to be doing just as well right?

"That sounds like a plan to me." She stated, affirming the choice with a slight bob of her head and stashing the leaf wrap she had brought near the base of a tree, making sure it wouldn't blow away in the errant breeze by pushing a stick on top of it before prancing off towards the water. "Come on! They are probably near the shoreline somewhere!" She encouraged her sister.

Kaelin flashed her sister a half annoyed look. "Maybe the bears that don't live here are starving and when word gets out about the treasure trove of berries here they will all come rushing and eat them all before we return from our swim. Then we won't have any berries at all!" It took only a moment before a huge smile crossed her lips. Of course something like that wouldn't happen and if it did...well then she could tell her sister 'I told you so' and leave it at that.

Even so she did hesitate just a bit before following Ciyana. Glancing back at the berry bushes one last time she made a silent please for her joking to be wrong and for the berries to still be there by the time they got back. Kaelin quickly picked up her previously dropped leaf and placed it where Ciyana had put here and then hurried after her sister. "I'm coming!" She called and felt a rush of excitement flow through her, they were going to see the ducklings, or at least she hoped they would be there and then a nice relaxing swim would be just what she needed.

"That..seems a bit far fetched but I guess it's plausible in a very unlikely to happen but possibly could sort of way." Ciyana responded managing ,just barely, to contain yet another eye roll. At least her sister was sweet, she was a worry wart with a crazy imagination which seemed to imagine the worst possible situation that could come to pass..but at least she was also kind and sweet. Perhaps someday she'd find a stallion who was willing to deal with a bit of crazy for the greater bonus of her kind nature. Ciyana hoped so..she didn't like to think of her sister going through life alone.

Then again she should probably worry more about her own love life then her sisters potential love life since her's was pretty much in the going nowhere fast category as well. Oh well. Turning her attention's back to the matter at hand Ciyana came to a halt near the stream bank, eyes scanning the shoreline for any signs of the ducks they were searching for . "Do you see them anywhere?" She asked her sister, pricking her ears forward to listen for them as well.

"Well then let's hope that very unlikely possibility doesn't happen." She told her sister with a solid nod of her head. She had been half joking about it after all...and yet, there was that nagging voice in the back of her mind that told her that even the most ridiculous far fetched thoughts and ideas could in fact become a reality. The chance was slim yes, but it could happen and so that was why she worried so much. Was it her fault she was like mother in that way? Always seeing something that could be dangerous even if nothing was there.

Coming to a stop at the edge of the water Kaelin looked down the length of the stream to the left. She had hoped to see the ducklings as soon as they arrived but there was no sign of them. That was quite disappointing. Her gaze searched the water but there were no ducks to be seen. "No." She said with a sigh. Swinging her gaze to the right and looked down that section of the stream. Just when she thought they would not get to see them at all a small bit of movement in some reeds caught her attention. "Wait." She narrowed her eyes focusing on the reeds and again saw a bit of movement and she was certain that movement was also yellowish in color. "I think I see them. In those reeds down there."

Ciyana didn't think there was much point in being overly worried about such a low possibility but she decided not to further pursue the subject, if she did then she ran the risk of her sister somehow talking herself into believing the far fetched possibility was more possible then she had initially thought. Better to just..let it go.

Of course a distraction would be great but the ducks didn't seem to be cooperating on that front and she snorted in disappointment, about to turn away from the stream and return to the berry bushes when her sister called out. For once it seemed her sisters keep and observant ways were paying off! "We can barely see them from here..we'll have to go farther down stream." She declared, starting off through the tall grass alongside the stream only moment after making the declaration.

Her sister took off before Kaelin could even attempt to protest the idea of going further down stream. She stood there for a moment watching Ciyana walking away before she let out a heavy sigh and followed her along the riverbank. This was a terrible idea. Surely they would end up getting lost, which would mean they wouldn't be able to collect any berries and bring them home, and let's not even forget about all the unknown possibilities that lurked within the trees. Didn't Ciyana understand the dangers of this world? Of course she did, but she didn't let them weight upon her. Kaelin wondered for a moment what it would be like to be care free like her sister. Honestly, she couldn't imagine it. Her life was run by worry and it would likely remain that way for the rest of her life.

"I hope we don't scare them away." She whispered to her sister as they came closer to the spot where she had spotted the ducklings earlier. At least she thought it was the duckings. But just as she began to worry about it possibly being some trick of some river monster wanting to eat them she caught the tell tale sounds of young ducklings. Her heart melted instantly at their tiny quacks and it brought a smile to her lips. Ducklings were so cute. She slowed down a bit not wanting to come up on them too fast and scare them away, or worse irritate their mom and have her go on the defensive. Ducks could be dangerous is threatened.

"They'll be fine." Ciyana assured her sister as she spoke up about frightening the ducks. " I mean its not like we are wolves or anything." She stated and then instantly regretted her poor choice of words, great now her sister was probably going to be fretting about wolves in the area. Oh well, maybe the ducklings would distract her, I mean how could you be worried about everything when you were watching those cute fuzzy butts swim around? It was impossible she was sure of it.

"Oh wow." She exclaimed as they came across the family. " There sure are a lot of them - can you imagine what life would be like if Soquili had that many foals at once? That would be crazy to keep up with, that poor momma bird probably has her beak full!" she stated in a whisper. Man that many siblings? She had a hard time wrangling just the ones she had already and the ducks had more then twice as many to keep up with. Then again they probably never had trouble finding someone to spend time or play with right?

Kaelin frowned at her sisters wolf comment. It was bad enough that Kaelin thought of too many possible bad outcomes to anything they did, but then Ciyana had to throw the idea of wolves into the mix. See this is why she didn't like leaving the safety of their home. Granted she wasn't one hundred percent sure their home was entirely safe, but at least she felt relaxed and at ease there most of the time. She pushed her fear down, for now, and continued forward along with her sister until the ducklings came into view.

Her eyes roamed over the multitude of baby ducks. "Six...seven...eight..." Of course it was a bit difficult to count because they kept moving. But it seemed like there was eight. "Eight ducklings." She said with a smile. Yup, already the fear of wolves and everything else under the sun was ebbing and being replaced by happiness. "They're so adorable." It was the only way to describe them. "I couldn't imagine having that many siblings." It would be great in a way, but there were probably downsides as well. She continued to watch the ducklings, her gaze moving to the mother duck now and then. "She seems to have everything under control." At least at the moment, but who knows how often the sheer number of babies overwhelmed the poor mother.

Kaelin did have a point, it didn't seem like the mother duck was having too much trouble controlling her babies, in fact they all seemed pretty content to stay pretty close to her. "I guess baby ducks are just better behaved then Foals." she responded with a quiet laugh. "At least at this age, maybe they don't start to act out until they can fly." With a slight shrug Ciyana returned her attention to watching the ducklings for a few moments in silence before speaking again.

"Did you want to go swimming for a bit or should we head back and start picking those berries?" She asked her sister after some time had elapsed. It was still early but it would take some time to pick the berries and they didn't want to spend all morning out here when they had plans back home.

Kaelin flashed her sister a smile. "I bet they are quite the handful when they are trying to fly in all different directions." Imagine trying to wrangle eight ducklings who want to fly and they all take off together but in different directions, now that would be crazy. Hopefully the mother duck would be able to keep her children in line and safe as the time went on.

Turning her attention away from the ducks Kaelin considered their options. "The stream is close enough to the berries that we can see them and make sure nothing tries to take them away." She thought out loud. "Let's pick the berries first, then we can take a quick dip before heading home with the berries." Really either option left a small amount of stress on her, but if they could see the berries they had picked from the stream as they swam then she would be able to worry slightly less and get to relax in the water before returning home.

Ciyana nodded slightly at her sisters plan. "That should work well." She agreed, giving the baby ducks one more fond look before turning her attention back the way they had come. "I guess we better go and retriever our leaves." She told her sister, se thought she recalled where she had stashed hers but she wasn't overly worried, Kaelin always remembered things like that, she had a knack for recalling small details, probably because she was always nervously watching everything but Ciyana wasn't going to complain when it helped her out.

"Good-bye little ducks." She told the little creatures before starting back up the pathway. "We left the leaves by the trees right?" She asked her sister just to make sure they were going in the right direction - or maybe it was by the rocks? Oh well, they would figure it out. "I'm going to pick so many berries we'll be eating them for days. She told her sister.

Kaelin didn't quite want to leave the ducklings yet, so she lingered just for a few moments longer trying to enjoy them for as long as she could before finally pulling herself away. "Good bye ducklings. Take care of them Mama Duck." She told them before hurrying off after her sister. Having gotten to see the ducklings had certainly lifted Kaelin's spirits and she had practically forgotten about all of the worries she had been having about the trip earlier. They would return, soon enough, they always did, but for the moment she was enjoying herself.

Hearing her sister's question Kaelin hurried to catch up to her. "Yes, they are both at the base of the big tree near the bushes." Unless there was a wind while they were gone and they got blown away. Yup, there was the worry returning again. She flashed her sister a smile. "That's going to be a lot of berries, especially if we are sharing them with father and Ar." Those two could eat a lot, but Kaelin didn't mind sharing with them.

See? That was why she loved going places with her sister, Kaelin always remembered the little details and she, Ciyana, always made sure that her sister explored a little it more of the world then she would on her own, they were the perfect duo as far as Ciyana was concerned. "I thought that's where we left them." She told her sister as they walked along.

They hadn't gone very far to look at the baby ducks and so the walk back to the trees was relatively short and Ciyana was pleased to see the broad green leaves exactly where they had left them. "I guess its a good thing that there are so many berries then." She told her sister as she picked up her leaf and trotted towards the berry bushes. Maybe she should have brought more leaves - I seemed quite possible that the berry picking would be limited, not by the berries but by their ability to carry them all.

"No you didn't" She said with a laugh. She knew Ciyana too well, she relied on Kaelin to remember things like this. "You have no idea where we left them. If I wasn't here you would have likely had to go get a new leaf." She teased her sister. Honestly Kaelin didn't mind that she was the one to remember details like this, as she also relied on her sister for other things, like helping her through those moments when her worry overwhelmed everything else.

"Yeah. We should pick as many as we can today...but make sure we don't over pick either." There had to be berries left for other animals too. "Though there seems to be plenty of flowers on the bushes as well, so I think there will be berries galore here for a while." Knowing a good spot to pick berries for a few weeks would be good. "We can come back again in a few days or so and pick more." It would be nice to have a nice little stash of berries at home for later on.

Ciyana laughed slightly at her sisters remark, she couldn't help but bob her head in agreement, it was far to true - Ciyana was pretty sure she would forget her head if it wasn't attached to her body and it really wasn't like she had a terrible memory - she remembered important things like the woodland paths or which plants were bad to eat and which ones were good when you were sick - it was just the little things that slipped her mind. Like where she stashed the leaf.

"True, true." She agreed, it was a good thing that Kaelin was good as recalling such small details or else she would have to waste a lot of time running too and fro for things like this. "Alright, well lets get picking then, mom will be looking for us soon." She remarked, turning to trot towards the berry bushes, and she would try...really really try not to eat all of the ones she picked, she would at the very least only eat half of what she picked. "I think your right though, it looks like these bushes are going to be good for berries for quite a while." unless a bear came, bears could eat this whole patch in one go but Ciyana wisely kept such thoughts to herself, the last thing she needed was to remind Kaelin about bears.
