Starlight, Starbright...First star I see tonight. I wish I may, I wish I might, have this wish I wish tonight.There’s a strange, bright star over the Kawani lands. It’s a rare sight, and legend has it that the star can grant a few select Soquili a special wish. Head up to the top of the hill, place a small offering on the alter, and make your wish. In this case, there is a strong urge for those most desirous of family and the want of a foal or two. From those couples that are inundated with children, young and old, to those whom might think the idea of a family is impossible, tonight is a night for you! Think carefully about your wish, however, as you only get to make one! This particular Wishing Star is 6k per basket (so 12k if a pair is getting 2 baskets, 6k if only one!)

The Rules
Please read the rules thoroughly as some things have changed!
1. Post in this thread only for your entries. PM Uta if you have any questions.
2. Any breed can enter, provided they're not a skinwalker. Absolutely no Skinwalkers are allowed to enter a Wishing Star!
3. When designing foals, colorists are allowed to design anything up to rare breeds without limitation. If they would like to make a super-rare (angeni or ulun'suti), they have to be either half-breeds or mixed breeds. Pure, super-rare offspring will not be allowed. No mutants either, sorry! These aren't customs or traditional breeding slots, so all prizes are CC and completely up to the colorist. Anything more than moderate edits will be completely at the colourist's discretion and are not guaranteed, even if you have a super edited couple win.
4. This is a paid raffle! This means, if you've won a paid pony for the month of May (not including customs), you are not eligible to enter. Sorry! If you've won a freebie, you're good to go!
5. When picking a wish, you must be wishing from the perspective of a soquili that you own, however you can be wishing for a prize you intend to give to a friend for RP. With the "Miracle Baby" you must have permission from ALL owners/co-owners of the Soq.
6. When referring to another person's soquili for the Miracle Baby have them post in this special Permissions Thread if you have not lifemated the couple. If they are lifemated, please just post the lifemates listing.
7. If your wish is granted, it is your choice to keep your prize, co-own it, or give it away to a friend. This does not count for more traditional breeding raffle slots!
8. All children granted will be considered and labeled 1st Gen Mockbreeding Children of the couple. These are gifts from the spirits, not biological children.
9. You may edit your post until closing.
10. You may only enter or be entered for one pairing. Whether you or your partner enters them, you can only be on the list once, for either a Miracle Baby or an Extra Gift.
11. Unlike past Wishing Stars, where it was only the winner of a couple would get one basket, we're going to treat these similar to traditional breedings. In this case, if you have permission from another owner to try for either a Miracle Baby or an Extra Wish, and the other owner would like a basket from that pairing, then one of you would post the pair with the appropriate header, and if you win, you will get two baskets (regardless of stats) - one for each owner.
If you want to enter a couple, but the other owner wants to enter a different pair and isn't interested in getting a basket, you would post the appropriate header saying Owner 2 is declining a basket for that breeding, and if you win, you will only get one basket per traditional Wishing Stars.
If you enter a self-pairing, or someone else's pair***, you will post the appropriate header, and only get one basket should you win.
Essentially, individuals can only ever win one basket, regardless how many pairs of theirs are entered with other people. They simply need to opt out of all but one posted breeding. Also, do not post duplicate pairs! If you and an owner have decided you would like to post a pair, and each recieve a basket, you can only post that pair once -- you must decide which one of you are going to post it, and only do so once.
So long as the right headers are used, you should be just fine.'
*** With permission from both owners you can post another person's couple, but please only if you intend to keep the basket. Refer to the Reference and Mockbreeding Permissions Thread for your permissions.
Please be patient. We're trying something different, so there are liable to be questions or things we didn't consider. This is trial by fire, so we may have to make snap decisions that not everyone agrees with concerning eligibility. Please don't fuss if we do something you don't agree with -- we're just trying to have fun and give everyone some more opportunities for soquili. :3 |

Miracle Baby This wish can be wished by either potential parent of a couple that can not normally have children via normal breeding slots. IE: gay/lesbian couples, species that cannot interbreed (such as regular/usdia, regular/mer, seathi/usdia), or a couple whom one or both of the parents have already used their four breeding slots IF this couple has not already actually bred before with each other. If your wish is granted, the couple might find a special basket near their home one day. This ”spawn” will follow all the rules of a customed family member, will not count against either parents breeding slots, and will be labeled as a Gen 1 as it will not be a -genetic- foal of the couple, but a special gift from the star. Therefore, it is possible that the breed may even be different than both of the parents, but it is ultimately the discretion of the colorists.

Elizabeth smiles as she looks up at the shining star. "Ambroise and I never imagined when we started out that we would ever be a romance. It was a business arrangement from the first, a way for Ambroise to have heirs and for me to have children. Complementary personalities and similar values, that seemed to be all we had in the beginning. I might not have loved Ambroise and doubted he would ever feel more than fondness for me, but I meant to do my best by him, be a good mate and, eventually, a good mother. How could I have ever expected our partnership to grow so strong and intense? I knew in the beginning he was a good stallion, steady and responsible. The more I knew him, the more I came to respect and care for him. One day, I realized that to my shock, I actually loved him. But that was my secret; love had never been part of our relationship, and I wasn't sure how any declarations on my part would change things between us."
She paused, the joyful expression in her eyes dimming slightly as she reflected on darker times. "It wasn't until the horrible fire down in the Lowlands that I truly understood how important Ambroise was to me, and, more importantly, me to him. Having spent all my time before Ambroise in the Lowlands, I had to come down from the mountains to help in whatever way I could. Ambroise has never liked the Lowlands, or the Soquili who live there; I didn't want to force him into an unpleasant situation, so I left our home under the escort of our oldest son. Imagine my surprise when, in the temporary Kawani village, I encountered Ambroise! He had learned of the fire, and, knowing my connection to the region, had laid aside his own feelings to come and do what he could to help. I think seeing him there, unbidden and unasked by me, was when I realized that he loved me as well."
The light back in Elizabeth's eyes, she continued in a lighter, but still contemplative, tone. "There has been so much darkness in the world lately; the War, the fire. So much death, damage, and destruction to lives and homes. But even amidst the deepest darkness, there can be light and happiness; I want to see and nurture more of that light, with Ambroise at my side."

Chowilawu squinted at the sky, hoping he'd chosen the correct star. Surely it had to be that one, it was the brightest he'd ever seen! He sighed, pushing his cheeks out before he spoke. "I... I feel so foolish. I mean, this isn't something I should need help with. It's just been so long, and we've tried so hard. And it just hasn't happened." He frowned a little bit as he looked at the star hopefully. "I mean... I heard you've helped others before. You've given them hope. I just need a little hope, is all. We need some hope." He thought fondly of his mate and wished greatly to begin their family. It was so long since they'd begun to try. "Please, great spirit or Angeni or whatever you are... Help us with our family. It's been so long." He sighed again before bowing to the star and taking his leave.

Tinúviel stood beneath the Gathering Tree, leaning into its comforting trunk and looking up at the stars. There was one out tonight that was particularly bright, and she'd carefully disentangled herself from the nest and left an exhausted Pach - he'd been out on patrol all day again today, poor thing - to sleep. With her she'd carried one of the extra bells he kept around, and when she got to the tree, placed it on the ground between its roots. Then, plucking a feather from her own tail, she made her offering. As she stood there against the tree, however, she was still uncertain what her wish should be. There was the obvious - make the skinwalkers go away - but she sincerely doubted that would work, and even if it did, she would never have closure, never be able to walk around without looking over her shoulder. The scars on her back, half-healed claw punctures, twitched at the thought. The one under her mane was still sore, barely healed, chunks of hair still growing back, and the one on her face had given her a new blaze, a thin, bare line of grey skin from forehead to muzzle.
Something happier, what should the future bring? the star seemed to whisper at her. Her mind traveled down trails long overgrown, hardly thought of since the attacks. Little ones, playing in the pond she and Pach had played in before them, playing hide-and-seek in the woods, dancing to the music of wind and bell both. It gave her heart a pang, but it was not entirely bitter. Someday. "I wish that someday, we might be blessed with foals... Someday, we might rest easy and be occupied by something other than fear. Or, perhaps, foals might bring peace despite the fear..." Her voice was wistful, quiet and almost hoarse toward the end as she realized she was fighting tears. But then she had to laugh at herself; when did I get this emotional about the future? Somehow a door seemed to open to her, though, and for a moment, all she could see was the future, and it was a future where all the scars had healed, where skinwalkers were no more than beasts in her children's nightmares. And more than anything, she wanted it.
Nosing the bell and the feather a little further forward, Tin nodded. "Foals. I wish for foals. Maybe now, maybe in the distant future... But sometime." The tears rolled slowly down her cheeks as she turned back toward the nest, but then she paused and looked over her shoulder, up into the white starlight. "Thank you."

With a resolute intake of air, Dae'ruil reached around and undid the clasp that secured his sword to his draperies, gently and reverently laying it down on the altar. He had never been much for conflict himself, though he had always admired soquili, like his mate, Fianna, who had the courage to fight for what they believed in.
Short IC Response: Dae'Ruil stared up at the glimmering star, unable to deny the portentous nature of its appearance shortly after his formal proposal to Fianna and visiting her family. Hopefully this was the premonition he was hoping for. Maybe it was time to start a family of their own. Foals that were both his and Fianna's. He had been focused on taking Fianna back to his kingdom after formally asking permission from her parents, but there was just something.... right, something welcoming about the herd that her parents had been forming. It might have been so much simpler, almost crude to the young prince after the home that he was used to, but the love that was present here was so genuine that it almost took him by surprise. Almost like he had found for the first time what a home was really supposed to be. Maybe he shouldn't have been surprised. After all, the family, like Fianna herself, might be rough around the edges, but it was so very Real. Fianna's siblings might squabble, but it wasn't the almost venomous and stifling competition that Dae'Ruil's brothers had shown him.
It didn't mean that he didn't still want to return home.... some day... that he didn't want to show Fianna the dragonfly fluttercorn kingdom that he had grown up in, to introduce her to his parents, knowing and facing the certain disapproval that they would show. But... maybe.. he could rest for a time, share something genuine and real, expand their family before dealing with HIS. After all, nothing would justify to his family the realness of his relationship with the brave, brash, and feisty mare, Fianna than a family of their own.
"Star..." He began, raising his head and looking at the majestic star that outshone all the rest, "I entreat upon thee.... bless this union. Grant Fianna and I a child of our own. I love her beyond the mere borders of my heart, and bringing new life into this union will nourish and grow our love even more. She has taught me to be stronger, more confident... saved my life and saved me once more through the acceptance of my humble proposal. I never wish to tie her down - she seems to be the spirit of the wind and freedom itself some times - but I love her, and I am truly blessed to be loved in return. Let her brave spirit continue on in our foals. A foal or foals to cherish and amaze me as Fianna herself does." Dae'Ruil dropped to one knee in a formal, head-bent bow that was virtually a muscle memory to the soquili born to royalty. There was no way to know if his prayer had been heard, but he hoped beyond hope that maybe, just maybe, he had done something right and the spirits of the star would hear his petition.

Spock frowned as he watched Jim move forward and up the hill. His head tilted lightly to the side as he watched his T'Hy'La. He was confused as to what the regular Soquili was doing. After a brief moment, he moved forward, until he was standing along side the stallion. Jim's head was tilted back to stare up toward the sky, his eyes locked on a rather bright star up ahead. The Vulcan frowned before his eyes moved over toward Jim, eyebrow arched slowly. "What is it, Jim?" Spock asked, his ear flicking.
Jim grinned at his lover, his short tail giving a flick, before he bumped his shoulder against Spock. He let out a small chuckle, before looking back up to the sky. "Just heard some rumor about people making wishes to that star up there, and then their wishes coming true." Spock's eyebrow rose slowly, silently inquiring him to continue and explain what they were doing with the red bandana on the floor. "You have to leave a token for the star. So I'm leaving that. We don't need it right now anyways, right? I'm just wishing that our family can begin. Ya know? I'm ready for a kid, Spock. I know you're apprehensive, but I want a little foal running around my legs and falling all over themselves and getting flustered and... and..." He sighed, shaking his head, Spock wouldn't understand this.
Spock watched his lover for a moment, before leaning his head to nuzzle at Jim's throat for a moment. He lifted his head, staring at the star for a moment, his head cocked. "... Then for you, Jim, I do hope your wish comes true. Come, we must return to the hot springs. I grow tired." Jim smiled, before turning slowly and nodded, walking alongside Spock toward the home they had made at the moment.

Mest carefully lowered his little bundle of energy to the ground, where she finally began to snooze. A day full of running around exploring the surrounding area had tuckered her out. Lazarus had ran out of breath ages ago and had done a dramatic flop against a tree, claiming that he could go no further. Mest snorted and eyed his lover's sleeping form from across the field. Despite Laz's skittishness with children, little Anchovy had brought back the goofy, loving energy between the two stallions, and Mest would be lying if he said he didn't want more.
More foals for him and Laz to love and raise. More foals for Anchovy to play and explore with. As the last bit of sunlight crept beneath the horizon, Mest found his gaze drifting upwards.
"No way..." he murmured, walking forward. It was the star. The star that had brought them Anchovy. Without a second thought, Mest tore a bird skull from the string at his side and set it gently on the ground. "I want more," he told the star. "More foals for Laz and I to love, please, please give Anchovy a brother or sister,"
