Eyes the blue of the waves that lapped at the beach were watching the dark lion. She was admiring someone so different than herself.. Someone who was of a different world. It was rather tiresome, living amongst the mermaids sometimes. It was just so suffocating. She couldn't be free! That was something she longed for, deep down into her soul.
But something wasn't right.. The lion disappeared into the waves, and made no attempt at swimming. If anything, she could no longer see him, and she stood, eyes frantically scanning the water. When she could no longer wait, afraid of what might happen if she did, her paws carried her across the sand. Abandoning her hiding spot in favor of trying to help the male she had seen.
It only took a moment for her to spot his bright yellow mane, beaming against the surface of the water like the sunshine. Her paw and leg wrapped around his chest, and she started pushing herself towards the shore. He was heavy, and for a moment she wondered if she might be drown right alongside him. Wouldn't that be ironic? The mermaid that drowned.. But she kept strong, willing herself to shore. She was praying to the water Gods to keep her safe. She was still rather young, and sometimes she didn't quite think things all the way through.
Once her other three paws hit the beach sand, she found herself releasing a breath she didn't realize she had been holding for so long. She gasped, but pulled the male alongside her just out of the current. He was safe from drowning, and she had survived.
Oh what mother was going to say if she ever found out about this...Or her other sisters, the entire pride of sisters, what would they think? She had saved a pirate.. She wasn't really much of a mer-sister doing things like that.

Chi Sohma Sorry this took so long D:
She cocked her head, an eyebrow arching curiously as he spoke. She didn't know what sea beast he was referring to, but she hoped it wasn't herself. She couldn't help but smile down at him though. Such a handsome male he was.. His pelt was a sea of black, with spots of green like little fish swimming in it's depths. He seemed to look her way, though his eyes clearly saw nothing but fuzz.. They were unfocused, and he was looking her way without really seeing her.
When he went to stand, her muscles went to move to help him, but she didn't move fast enough. He was back against the sand, the water lapping at his body. She frowned, a paw stroking his shoulder as he tried to regain his senses.
Are you okay?" She asked, her voice soft. She was breaking all sorts of rules.. but that didn't seem to matter much right now. She smiled again, a bigger smile than before when he'd asked her name.. "You're lucky I was there." She said, voice a heavy sigh. She was so thankful that she'd been there.. She didn't want to think about what would have become of him if she hadn't.
"I'm.." She thought about giving a fake name.. But she just didn't have it in her to lie. She was too curious about him to think too much on herself. "I'm Arielle." She beamed.
"Shhh," She said softly, brushing her paw against his cheek and stroking back tendrils of his golden mane. "Don't talk if it's too difficult." She soothed.

He was phasing in and out. "Arielle..." He repeated.. with a simple smile. Before he knocked back out. It was after a few hours that another one of his crew came, finding him. Dragging him back home but as soon as he was able to speak. All that came to out of his mouth, lavished in his tongue was her name. The crew looked perplexed at one another, their captain had become obsessed.
"No. She came up from the water. She saved me." He continued on for days, and every day- and any chance he got. He stayed at the beach. Waiting for her. Days went passed this way.
Til his crew member came up beside him. Nudging his captain that had lost contact with the crew. He was so focused upon this ideal of this lioness that simply now, did not exist. Lions did not just come out of the water. Maybe though, it was a mermaid. Even then, those were myths in themselves. No one could truly catch one or, see one and live to tell the tale.
"If it was a mermaid sir.. I don't think you should be so close. Myth goes that they only aim to drag you under..." He spoke likely.. But his captain was absorbed in this.
"She's out there... and... she saved me." He turned to him. "You wouldn't understand." She was an angel. Whom saved his life, and he wanted to meet her. Even if it was just once more. His crew member stayed with him.. for a few hours before he too headed back to the pride. Without his captain yet again..
