About the Family

Atsina Atadiusti (Ecavi) & Abeytu Kalisetsi (Safaia)

Mom is an enthusiastic, talented huntress and daughter of the Mantis Clan's alu'nadi. Until she met her mate, hunting was about all she really focused her time and energy on. While parenting may not be something that comes as easily, she'll certainly be approaching it with as much enthusiasm. Dad is a bit of a history nut, and loves learning about the lore of the Ela'wadiyi, as well as their history. He also tries to learn a bit about other cultures from the rogues who join their lands, though sometimes he's a bit pushy with his questions.

The two ended up together by accident and, while it's not necessarily the best way to approach a lifelong commitment like this, they are very happy together.

Six cubs in all, five girls and one boy. They are born shortly after the end of this year's Sky Festival, which contributed to the decision made by Atsina's mother to train the boy to be the clan's nvwati.

Other Family - Abeytu Kaliseti

Poa Subiani & Kalanu Kalisetsi - parents (Mantis Clan)

Ona'raha Subiani & Rehema - paternal grandparents (Shadow Clan)
Dongo & Huong - maternal grandparents (Mantis Clan)

Other Family - Atsina Atadiusti

Kiger & Amagada Atadiusti - parents (Mantis Clan)

About Amagada Atadiusti
User Image

Amagada Atadiusti is originally from the Mteo'nyungu pride, daughter of a huntress of that pride and a former warrior of the Mantis Clan who had been separated from the old Ela'wadiyi. After the Mteo'nyungu disbanded - and her parents passed away - Ama journeyed off to find the Ela'wadiyi (and found a mate, Kiger, during her travels). In the time since her father had left the pride, the Mantis Clan had dwindled to nothing, but it just so happened that then-wanidatsi Tawa'di had plans to reform it; enter Ama, quite by coincidence, and she ultimately ended up the alu'nadi of the new Mantis. It was certainly not a turn she expected her life to take, but she adjusted, and believes she's done a good job of it, all things considered.

...and so she was really quite offended when the current wanidatsi, Skan, reviewed her clan and criticized their lack of nvwati. And then, of course, there was the "gift" of a bird, which Ama is thoroughly convinced is a spy. A touch sensitive about being alu'nadi in the first place because of her foreign origins, Ama has become defensive and a bit surly. Mantis needs an nvwati, hm? Fine. When her first set of grandchildren was born, she wasted no time in dubbing the only male her trainee.

This is her first and currently only grandson, from her first and currently only set of grandchildren, and Ama will absolutely adore him...but she may also be a bit hard on him at times, as any teacher needs to be. In addition to being taught, he'll also be exposed to her grumblings about the whole 'review' situation. He'll also have quite a bit of interaction with her antagonistic raven, Ojha, whom she tends to call names instead of just 'Ojha.'

Ama's a good lioness, at heart, but under a fair amount of stress and not currently at her best.

-Cheers future entrants on- biggrin
PostPosted: Mon May 05, 2014 9:46 am
Name: Ahaludi Atadiutsi
Meaning: "Ambush" in Cherokee. "Ambush thorn"
Personality: In a few words: passionate, curious, nagging.
Ludi is put under a lot of pressure early on with training and sees the stresses it puts on Amagada, but he is very proud that he was chosen. He will ask a whole lot of questions, wishing to know everything he can about his future with the pride. He will definitely put more stress on Ama, not on purpose, but just by being the way he is: he'll keep going to her with questions that will seem important to him, but in the grand scheme are miniscule. As he grows, he becomes hardened by the training, and (hopefully) excells at it but starts to become emotionally distant because of his focus on it. One of the few things that will bring him actual, visible joy is hunting and being a lion his parents can be proud of.
Anything extra to add, ideas, etc.: OoC, Love the new "idea" that there is much to learn after adulthood with the tattoos!
ICly, I see Ludi having little interaction with familiars save for Ojha. Seeing how Ama acts with the raven might cause him to be wary of all familiars, especially birds. This could be a fun little plot later! Being as passionate as he is, this will definitely overflow to appreciation for the tribe and his position, and he may try and turn Ama to look at Skan's criticism as Skan's desire for the clan to prosper, not as a direct criticism of the work she's been doing. (May need to back read, I'm not totally aware of the full situation. Sorry if this is inaccurate or not possible! Just an idea.)

Name: Kanu'tsu Atadiutsi
Meaning: 'Briar Thorn'
Personality: Despite his ironically prickly name, Kanu'tsu is gentle and very shy young boy that has yet to grow into the confidence a young lion should, if anything the idea of letting down his title in the future gives him more reason, in his mind alone to be nervous. His quiet nature however has allowed him to absorb into his lessons quite easily, if a bit less social than other cubs, it only makes him a bit more than a grandmummy's boy than he already is, taking more his nana's lessons and teachings more than a game of tag or sticktoss.....not that he doesn't watch them all in quiet envy ofcourse. As he grows, he'll learn to open himself up more to social links to the pride outside of his nana, possibly starting off a little arrogant before realizing that relying on his own knowledge won't get him anywhere if he has no insight or help from other people and will become a much more wiser and happier lion for it.
Anything extra to add, ideas, etc.: I think Kanu will possibly fall into telling Ojha his secret fears and concerns out of worry that he might disappoint his nana and possibly end up getting admonished and maybe even teased for it? He'll love his father and mother but possibly lean more towards his father and his methodical questioning in a slight feeling of awe. When his grandmother is too hard on him, it might cause him to be a bit more worried about the possibility of disappointing his family and his clan until he finally has to ask for help and word his concerns.

Name: Ugauhiu'gadolequa (Atadiusti)
Nickname: Uga
Meaning: Loves to Learn (Thorn)
Personality: While Uga feels like a very responsible young male eager to learn from his grandmother he can be a bit exuberant. He has a passion for learning but he likes the paws on approach and can overstep himself if he's left unchecked. He'd likely be very interested in what his father could teach him as well as his grandmothers teachings and complaints. While he would love his sisters I think he would be far more interested in hanging out with and emulating the adults as much as he could. I could easily see him botching up a lesson at some point. So tattoos are permanent, like there's NO way to remove them? *whisper* But I messed this one up?!
Anything extra to add, ideas, etc.: Seems like a fun family to plot with! (Oh uh a note, since he'd be growing up learning about his own clan and feeling eventually proud of it I doubt he would marry out of his clan)

Name: Chigaru Atadiusti
Meaning: "Like a large dog".
Personality: Chigaru is loyal, honest, and protective. He's always been a bit big for a cub and was known for risking himself to protect those he cares for. Taking a healthy interest in medicines even before he realized his future job, Chigaru is a natural at caring for others. While he comes off a bit clumsy and a little too kind-hearted, Chigaru's advice is well thought out and never sugar coated. He may seem unreliable thanks to how friendly and seemingly carefree he is, but don't let this fool you; he'll never let you down. He is a bit stubborn, though, and tends to stick to his beliefs. Chigaru is a compassionate soul, always sticking his neck out for others. While he ages he'll need to learn that sometimes he can't help, and that will be a hard lesson to learn.
Anything extra to add, ideas, etc.:
Um. I am COMPLETELY new to this shop. As in, a friend gave me my first lion yesterday. I am a good RPer despite being new and would love plots with my little (or big!) lion, if I were to win him. He will respect Amagada very much, and bicker with Ojha constantly. He'd probably marry within his own clan, mostly out of complete loyalty to the Mantis Clan. He wouldn't want to abandon his home. He will love both parents, but spend more time with his dad simply to learn about Ela'wadiyi more.

Name: Akatena Atadiusti
Meaning: Keen Sighted Thorn
Personality: Aka has a tendency to notice the things that others might overlook, perhaps even to a point where it's odd. For instance, if he did not do the tattooing himself, he might notice a small addition, a quick oddly placed tail flick, or even an interesting leaf on the wind behind your ear. Details stick out to him. He's easily approachable and, one might even say, he craves the company of his pridemembers. As a youth, lessons will be irritating because he cannot be with his friends or sisters, but tolerable because at least he gets to be with grandma. As he grows, he will more completely embrace his role as nvwati, as it exposes him to his clan mates in an open and personal way, and gives him an outlet for friendships, even if they need to be kept more professional. He has a tendency to be naïve and very open hearted.
Anything extra to add, ideas, etc.: As for pressure from Ama… Aka will take it personally, which will make him work harder at fulfilling his role… He might be a bit miffed at first, but he'll deal. Who knows? Perhaps someday he could show "Gram Ama" that being bitter about the review isn't the path to success? Perhaps he can convince Ojha to be warmer? He will spend a fair amount of time with the latter at least, which can fail or succeed, and be comical either way.

Name: Donateu Atadiusti
Meaning: Honest Thorn
Personality: We all go through various stages at different points in our life, Donateu is no different; his personality will shift and grow to eventually become a strong, passionate, hard working, dependable, and honest adult. However, he will not start out that way! As a cub, Donateu will be more like a leaf flittering in the wind than the mighty oak he will become. Of course he will dedicate himself to his grandmother's teachings, but he will also be a bit of a jokester with his sisters or Ojah being the butt of his humor. One thing that will never change is determination to please his grandmother, and do anything to make her smile. In his adolescence, Don will experience a mixture of rebellion and over the top displays of masculinity. Presenting mostly in the form of trying to take down game much bigger than what he should be able to handle and blowing off lessons to spend time learning from other adults, especially his father for history (his-stories as he calls them) and his mother for hunt training (the naivety of most lions his age will [temporarily] bother him to no end). But he will always come back to Amagada when or if he gets in too deep. In the end he will do everything he can to make his parents and his clan proud.
Anything extra to add, ideas, etc.:Ooc: I've always wanted to be a part of the Ela pride! <3
IC: +A sobering, tragic accident will transpire when he is out hunting as an adol. resulting in injury upon himself and another's life almost being lost that he must save without the help of Gran. This teaches him the importance of his position in the clan.
+ He will strive to marry within his own clan but he won't rush into anything as he feels his position is more important than being attached to another for his entire life.
+ He prefers being called by his full name over nicknames after adolescence.

Name: Agatanai Atadiusti
Meaning: "Wise" "Thorn"
Personality: 'tanai believes in living life to the fullest; as a cub, he's always looking for a new object to examine and a new cranny to explore. Much like his father, his curiosity is boundless, sometimes leading to some rather unwise decisions. Although not quite wanting to disappoint his mother, 'tanai finds it rather hard to sit and learn for long moments of time, easily distracted by a fluttering critters or the idea of playing with his sisters.

Once he grows out of being a cub and becomes an adolescent, he'll become more dedicated on learning, though he won't quite feel that being the nvwati is right for him. Nonetheless, he'll give it his all to live up to his mother's expectations. Despite his somewhat settled ideas, he's still quite mischievous and, by that age, has grown a rather flirtatious edge, to any female around. Quite knowledgeable on just how to flatter a girl, 'tanai tries to use it to his advantage anytime he can. However, he is quite aware of how deep and committed relationships are to be, recognizing them as a sacred bond. And, not quite ready to commit, is quite careful on keeping his words at just flattery.

As an adult, 'tanai has finally solidified his sense of belonging to his role in the clan. He's no longer insecure about the idea that there may be someone more suited for the role out there. Now, he enjoys blessing marriages and guiding those who feel troubled, spiritually. He's still mischievous and playful, innocently teasing and joking to cheer his company up. And he absolutely adores playing with cubs, since it's a chance to release his childish streak. However, if the situation or person calls for it, 'tanai is able to wipe off his smirk and address the moment seriously, giving the confidence expected from him.

Through and through, he'll have some personal trials that he'll try to work out himself or gain assistance from a family member. He is far from the perfect lion for the role of nvwati but believes with dedication and determination, he could be the best lion.

Anything extra to add, ideas, etc.: A few plot ideas!
Playtime: Of course some cub roleplay! 'tanai would love to be close to his siblings! He's huuuugggeee on family~ And then, what better way to sneak away from training?

Coming-of-Age: Perhaps a little heart-to-heart talk? That sort of changes 'tanai''s opinion on being nvwati? Like, before, he'll be doing it for his parents, only. But afterwards, sort of grows to believe it his destiny to provide spiritual guidance to the whole clan?

Mating: 'Tanai is a biittt scared of committing. He wants to, but he also looks into the long run? And feels he won't find the perfect one. He also feels shaken as a nvwati, since he's not at peace in his heart. Which would move him to seek out a family member. Maybe another talk? And, if he has someone he does have feelings for but unsure if they are fleeting or not, could somehow get soothed?

I'll also definitely find him a mate within the Mantis Clan. c:

PostPosted: Sat May 17, 2014 1:56 pm
Name: Mausi Atadiusti
Meaning: Plucks flowers in Cherokee
Personality: Quite close to his grandmother, Ama (even a bit more than to his parents or siblings). He takes his job very seriously, but has a tender and curious personality. The curiosity he probably takes from his father, his drive applied towards make his clan proud and please his family from his mother. He tries to give Ojha the benefit of the doubt and when Ama is absent, shows the avian kindness, but still minds what he says around the bird. He does, however, tell Vesa, his hare familiar, everything, using the rabbit as an outlet to vent after a hard day of training to be the next nvwati.
He's awkward around girls, despite having 5 sisters, because the one he spends the most time around is his surly grandmother. He doesn't expect to take a mate, he could grow old with his duties and his familiar to help him, and whatever new nvwati he'll have to train could be a surrogate child of sorts.
Anything extra to add, ideas, etc.: Will be attaching Vesa to him, the tattoo that appears on his back at his adult stage will represent Vesa's paw print. He will not be leaving the clan.
