[PRP] Small-Caliber Corsairs (Eoin & Teagan)

The reef was awake early, as always. Eoin stretched in the privacy under his shelf of coral, stifling his reflex to take a deep breath as he did so. Swimming around a school of bright orange fish, the colt took a peek around the large brain coral that separated his nest from his father's and found the anemone empty. Frowning, he swam up and around the table coral that sheltered his family's reef and floated in the open water.

The ocean was already warm this morning, and fish were out in numbers he'd rarely seen - tiny neons, deceptively slow lionfish, dangerous jellies. Everything was bright with colors, and for a moment, Eoin just turned slowly about to take it all in. This was why he loved the Grail. Every day was beautiful and different. From what he'd heard of the surface, there was no comparison - everything up there was grey and beige rock, with green vegetation. How boring, he thought. Someday, though, his brother and sister might well live up there. They had four legs, after all... And their leaving was something he dreaded.

He was just about to swim up and get a breath when he realized he hadn't seen Teagan or Lorcan yet. Maybe he'd have to drag one of them up to the surface with him...

[Kyrieko]

Little hooves kicked lightly in her sleep until one caught the edge of the shell she tended to claim as hers and flipped the foal over, said shell clanking on top of her. Teagan was very much awake at that point, wiggling out from under her shell and hoping no one else saw that. The urge to yawn almost caught her, but she managed to keep it away. And blew bubbles from her nose instead. Which spooked a few brightly colored fish and Teagan giggled on the inside.

Stretching as best she could underwater, the filly paddled after the fish not quite so gracefully as her father could swim. But she tried! And also attempted to poke the fish with her horn (which was really a nub).

Everything was so exciting in the ocean! It changed every day and there was always something new to see. Not to mention all the fish came in the colors of a rainbow (or she assumed, as that's what she'd been told and had yet to actually see a rainbow). She loved the Grail. Loved everything about it! Loved all the shiny things one could find, like the shell she'd discovered the other day. It was much smoother than the large shell typically slept in. And smaller. But it had shimmered and caught her eye. So she'd hidden it under her sleeping space, in the coral.

And speaking of shimmering, Teagan glanced up towards the surface. She probably needed to swim that way to take a breath... and maybe see if there was anything interesting on the beach? But before she could make up her mind, a colorful seathi caught her eye. And that was all it took to send the nixquilicorn paddling swiftly after Eoin to crash into him.
