He's also clever and quick with his words, knowing the right buttons to push - be it targeted strikes against a foe, or the right way to ingratiate himself to an ally. Death Note for her: I'm highly interested in this being not only her real introduction to the herd, but to give her a massive push into actual adulthood. This can certain stem into multiple different growth avenues, learning how to fight, learning how to heal, etc. Xander, her hawk familiar, would also be involved. If he almost dies, which I am up for, it would certainly push her to protect him, and others. It wouldn't be a full strength healing though but more a stop gap measure on a more seriously injury. She'll also not be afraid to take on an opponent whom might be stronger in combat than she is. Her companions could provide a distraction during battle. The chain around her hooves could both help and hinder Stormfall. She also does have a horn that she could use to attempt to fight with. Wynter Fury Soquili Name Wynter Fury Combat Effectiveness 1 Notes on Combat Style/specialty/Approved powers? Wynter Fury will probably be about as effective as a wet noodle during the fight. I think flashbacks might occur when/if she sees some of the attackers from Anju's herd. (Any pawed Soquili will remind her of her "greeting" into the Kawani/Soquili lands - which was not pleasant at all. ) She'll do her best to protect those that cannot fight themselves though. Canon Powers & Abilities Witseidutsei is an aggressive and experienced fighter, particularly against skinwalkers, which she fought many of before finding her home in the Thunderbird herd. She's agile on the ground and in the air, and aims to overwhelm her opponents with relentless strikes without giving them any time to recover. Xaviera has no fighting experience. She doesn't like violence -- which isn't to say she wouldn't try to defend herself or loved ones, of course, but it means she was never trained and has never been put into a violent situation. He is better at defending than attacking, but knows how pack a punch to inflict damage. He's mastered the "I'm not mad, just dissapointed" look -- watch out, future foals! One wouldn't think someone as gentle and sweet as Gabrielle could be a fighter, but she's a lot more than she looks. She has the element of surprise on her side, a demure little mare who can unleash a fury in the likeness of a Kalona on anyone who threatens her herd and family. She has a high tolerance for pain and believes that everything is a dream; she can't tell her delusional visions from reality anymore. She's a stealth fighter, sneaking up on her victims, picking out the weakest looking ones to torment. Savage, quick and stealthy, plus the whole faded edges to her body thing - Shinoma's real weakness would be coming up against someone physically overbearing as she is a relatively small Kalona and lacks the brute strength to overpower anyone larger than herself How Severely can your soquili be injured? 3 How about Capture? Cyclone is bulky, a great 'wall' of defense, but she also has those sharp talons that she keeps well sharpened on rocks. 	OOC RULES AND INFORMATION For More Information, Visit this Plot thread -This thread is the place to chat and plan OOCly. Don't be afraid to quote tag me, Kamiki, and/or any other participates if you need to get our attention to ask a question. - This thread further explicates rules and the combat effectiveness / injury scales (0-5) from the forms, has links to the backstory RPs that led up to this war, etc. RULES OF WAR The big RP will go in phases (See below) - once a new phase has started, please do not go back to an earlier one. If you missed one, you can include in a character's post their reflection on the earlier phase, but don't initiate any back-tracked action that would cause another character to have to react to it. Please only include one character in each post for clarity's sake (with the exception of familiars; you can include a bonded familiar along with their soquili's post if you prefer) When Writing an attack, just describe your character's set-up and intentions, Let the target of the attack describe how/if the blow lands For an example, see the fighting in This RP (Starting on page 2), ignoring the NPCs When posting, you only need to Quote-tag anyone who has a soquili that would be affected by your actions. If a Soquili is knocked unconscious or otherwise out of the fight, do not continue to attack them. ((Unless the owner is OK with character death in their form- if so, contact and discuss with them first)). They MAY however be captured IF they are OK with that in their form. If they flee, please leave them be. PLEASE USE ONE OF THE POST HEADERS BELOW IF YOUR SOQUILI IS OUT OF COMBAT, TEMPORARILY OR NOT Beyond the time frames of the Phases and minimum time between posts for a given character (in certain phases), there is no posting order (too many people/soquili involved for that). Don't feel obligated to have each soquili make post(s) each phase. 	PHASE 1 Hoof after hoof, Firestorm strode forward, his expression fixed into one of smoldering rage blended with manic anticipation. He had waited for this day for longer than he knew it was coming. Revenge. Conquest. Taking back what was rightfully his. He glanced over his shoulder at the army that followed in his hoofsteps... and this was just half of them. It was a long, twisting route up the hidden path that led into the Thunderbird herd. When he was a foal, when he had still been in the herd, Balrog's golden child... he had been shown the path. He had been instructed to commit it to memory. And that was why he was with these soquili - soquili that once upon a time he wouldn't have dignified with a conversation. Those born without wings or at least the capability to fly. There was one route through the mountainous terrain that led into the alpine valley of the herdlands that could be taken on hoof. THEY made sure of it. Jealously guarded the borders of their territory. Orchestrated rockslides and barriers to make certain that there was only one way in and one way out. And the only reason that was there was in case one was stranded outside of the territory and injured. So they could get home. But that concession, that hidden emergency route was going to be their undoing. One step... another... one step closer to taking it back. If the timing was right, they would be getting to the herdgrounds right at dusk. There were many with him who could use the fall of night to their advantage. And The Thunderbird herd would have no idea what hit them.... Not until it was too late. Taraxippus strode alongside Taraxippus, ravens perched on his shoulders. They belonged to his herdmates - their familiars, but they would send the signal to attack. There was another group, the second half of the army, those that could fy, poised to attack as soon as they received the signal. His own heart quickened in anticipation. But not for personal reasons like Firestorm. No, he had been wanting this change to prove the strength of the herd he had meticulously gathered and groomed. Not only to test their loyalty in the crucible of war, but to spread their mounting influence. ... his influence... his kingdom ruled by fear and respect. Infernum, ever dutiful, waited steadfast beneath the rocky outcropping on the other side of the thunderbird herdgrounds, beneath the raging waterfall as it fled over the cliffs. Firestorm had shown him this location over a week ago now. Told him of how this very river fed the herd and the lush mountain plants that they ate. How he and his family had been cast out of the herd grounds, and joined the waters that, too, had been cast off. But Firestorm had realized the strength in this location for the attack. The raging cascade drowned out any noise that the gathering of winged soquili could make in anticipation of the attack. The outcropping of rocks formed a sort of umbrella high above that shielded the group from sight from patrols that the herd had regularly sent out. It was the perfect spot. Not only were they going to be making the attack from two sides, but it was the perfect location to lie in wait. He knew his instructions. He knew the signals. As soon as Firestorm and Taraxippus made it to the end of the path, they would send the ravens. They had already worked out the timing it would take the birds to reach his team. Fifteen minutes after they sent them, Firestorm and the unwinged soquili would spring into action. Hopefully, precisely at the same time that the birds arrived at his group. As soon as the birds reached them, Infernum would lead the soquili with him to attack. For Taraxippus... and for the family of his new bride. Not a shadow of a doubt lingered in the thick, fiery stallion's mind. The only thing that burned in him was loyalty and confidence. He looked back to the others gathered with him and smield. This very night, he would lead them into battle. OOC Instructions - Phase one is SET UP ONLY. DO NOT START FIGHTING!!! The "Signal" to attack will not begin until Phase 2 starts. Do not have a Shadow/Firestorm herdmember start fighting, and do not have a Thunderbird herd member notice the incoming attack. - You may describe what your Thunderbird herdmember is doing before the attack, or you may describe what your attacker is thinking/how they are approaching the thunderbird herdgrounds. - This phase lasts TWO WEEKS (it ends at the end of the day, April 19. Some time April 20 I will make another post officially begining Phase 2. - Once Phase 1 has ended, if you missed the phase, you can still summarize in a post what your soquili did, but do not do any kind of action that would retcon or otherwise require someone to respond to what you did in a previous phase. - THERE IS NO POSTING ORDER. 	(( Jumps in with all four hooves )) Wynter Fury could still sense more than a dozen pairs of eyes following her every move. It would take some getting used to unless she made herself useful in some way or could magically erase the signs of her tail and horns. While it was true that the matriarch, Stormwild, had granted her permission to join the herd there was a current of unease among other individuals. The mare's tail arced back and forth as she grazed alone on the grass at her hooves. To the casual observer Wynter had ostracized herself from the others of the herd but in reality the mare was sounding out the emotions of others before she would approach and introduce herself. It would do no good for her to approach others if they were uncomfortable with a half-kalona in their midst. The lands that the herd had claimed for themselves had an aura of peacefulness that Wynter was trying to draw into herself. It was easy to imagine that she was now safe from harm but Wynter knew better. That monster was still out there. There had been an uttered threat that the mare had taken to heart. He had promised that he'd hunt her down to the ends of the earth. The lands that she found herself in now though seemed to be a perfect refuge. Patrols scoured the skies, always on high alert. It was a reassuring thought to know that there were others looking out for their herd mates. Had she finally found a place where she could settle down?

	Dubstep weaved in and out of the gathered members of the herd, listening to the snippets of conversation that he caught as he passed by. The air had a palpable edge to it, and uneasy sense of foreboding. He couldn't help but feel ill at ease in his new surroundings. He had only recently joined the herd and hadn't yet established solid relationships with anyone save for his mate, Euphrates. Determined to assert himself more in the herd, he decided to strike out and strum up conversation among the other members. However, with the friction he felt in the air he was more concerned with trying to figure out what was going on. He spotted a herd member off on her own grazing peacefully. He thought perhaps she might be a good first stop. She was clearly of kalona descent, but Dubstep wasn't one to judge too quickly, particularly since she had been allowed into the herd in the first place. "Hi there," he said as he approached, flashing the mare a disarming grin. "Are you new to the herd as well? Do you have any idea what's going on? Everyone seems to be on edge." He motions around them, encompassing the herdlands. Surely she could feel it too. ((I figure his established location can be just chatting with Wynter and anyone else nearby? lol))

	Arcana twittered anxiously around the herdgrounds, her attention up in her own mind as she wandered aimlessly arond the alpine fields. She never felt quite at home, even here, among her family... her real family at least. Growing up at the foot of the mountain, in the twisted wood had left scars across the diminutive mare's psyche. She had felt out of her element there - too nervous, too gentle to do the horrible things that were expected of her. But here, she never knew the right things to say, either. As much as she loved being around her real parents, Kamiki and Azure, and even her siblings, sometimes the more she was around them the less she felt like she did belong. She was broken, damaged. Stained. Sure, she could relax, and she could smile, but she always felt like she was pretending. Like she didn't belong anywhere. She didn't really believe that those without wings were any worse than those with. She had grown up around powerful soquili without wings. She had given birth to soquili without wings.... even one from a pairing with a massive stallion with them. And her heart had been toyed with by them, too - despite what she knew of what she wasn't supposed to be with... sweet words, a kind touch... Arcana wasn't very strong. She knew that. It tore her up sometimes, but she knew it. But she was trying, she really was. She had left the baskets with the herd that had sheltered her and came home to be responsible. It was just.... that being responsible hurt so much.

	Megaera couldn't be prouder. She follwed her son, Infernum's heavy hoofbeats as he had led the way to the ambush point. He walked with purpose, with strength. He impressed Taraxippus, and that, in turn, made Megaera even prouder. She had followed Taraxippus's instructions when she bred with Sheol - the smart match. And Taraxippus had been right. He was everything he wanted him to be.... everything SHE wanted him to be. She did not love her elder dauhgter, Pysche any less... but Infernum... infernum made her heart swell with pride. She waited beneath the rush of the waterfall, letting the wind whip her fiery mane around. It felt... important. Like she could feel the anticipation hanging in the air. Megaera wasn't the brightest mare, but she knew how big today was to their herd. And of all the herd, Taraxippus had chosen Infernum. Her Infernum.

	Tension, the air was thick with it, she could feel it from the tips of her feathers to to ends of her talons. The ones that scratched at the hard stone beneath them. She wasn't sure just what was making her so nervous, but something was setting things on edge. Where the day started out like all the rest, she woke went hunting for vermin that lived in the trees. Keeping in mind to leave the birds alone, taking squirrels and mice. Sometimes a weasel would make the wrong move and became a meal for the Gryph. While most the herd was still wary of the draft built mare, Cyclone couldn't help be who she was, talons and all. To this moment she stood on an outcropping stone that looked out through the valley, but still way below the lining wall of peaks. She didn't go up there, not just yet. Nostrils flaring taking in the scent of everyone around, her second meal laid untouched at her feet. Something was making the small feathers along her neck stand on end, something was building, like a storm. A storm that would be worse then even one her father, Thunderbird, could conjure.. Taking her eyes off from the distant hills, she glanced down at those that milled about doing their normal thing. Some appeared to feel the same thing, that electrical charge that was filling the air. Scraping her talons once more across the stone, she let out a half horse/half bird shriek and take to the skies over head, spiraling high. Her talons balled into what could have been considered fists and pulled in close to her chest, hoping from this vantage point she could have a clearer view of what was to come.

	Ashfall stretched his wings before folding them at his sides. He stood on one of the many small outcroppings in the peaks that overlooked the general herdgrounds. This was the place he always felt most at peace: watching, vigilant, but just removed enough for the chatter and din of conversation of the large herd to bring him a peaceful silence. Here he could think and reflect. And now was the perfect time of day. The late slow part of afternoon just before evening. The setting sun cast long shadows and it wouldn't be too long before the sky was painted in glorious colors of reds, pinks, and violets. Colors that were echoed among the myriad soquili below him. This was his home. Born of the two elder alphas of the herd, Ash was used to being treated with deference and respect, but stil... it was nice to separate himself ... every now and then... just to watch.

	For Aspen, many of the days in the herdground blended together into a pleasant, but uneventful life. He had grown up with two, loving, lifemated parents and plenty of siblings. There was usually ample food and water, and the herd did a good job keeping predators at bay and out of the herdgrounds. Aside from the annual swing in seasons that brought cold or heat or rain, Aspen had known little of conflict. Certainly, he did his share of patrolling - he had a keen eye, and helped spot unusual or worrysome presences at the edges of the territory, but it usually amounted to little to be actually concerned with. On the rare occasion a cougar had slipped in, he was vigilant - making sure it was stopped before it got to the shelter of the foaling grounds. He had just come back from a patrol and was settling down on the outskirts of the foaling grounds, where he usually bedded down for the evening, and was having his fill of grass to replenish his energy. Even though there were currently no foals in the herd, he had taken this area under his wing, as it were.

	Canaan had been assigned to keep an eye on Wynter Fury; as a guard is made sense; it was his duty to protect the herd, and if Wynter was a threat, there would be no one better to be around than someone equipped to handle the situation? But he didn't like being regulated to a spy. Instead, he tried to pass off his nearly constant presence beside Wynter as more of an ambassador of sorts. Someone to help show her around the herdlands. He had tried to be a friend, but give her space when she needed it. He showed her where the best watering holes and foraging grounds where, and talked to her a bit about the different roles in the herd. He wanted her to feel welcome; after all, if Stormwild trusted her, than he did. Maybe, just maybe, she would open up to him one day. As he followed her into the clearing, he saw another brightly colored male approach; another new stallion; one who hadn't been born into the herd but had come back with his older sister, Euphrates. "Hi," he said. He didn't mean to interject into the conversation, but he felt maybe having an established member of the herd escort Wynter around, she would feel more integrated. tefla Fatal Irony

	Zhuri watched the herd members go about their business from his vantage, looking like ants as they scurried about the herdlands. He couldn't believe this..what had started as just a loose alliance between him and his mate and another pair of winged wanderers had blossomed into this fully functional herd. Him mate, Belle, and him... so far three beautiful sets of perfect foals, many of who had gone one to make foals of their own. He had lost count of how many "greats" were front of "grandfather" to some of them; it just made him feel old. But as the muscles in his wings ached as he flew around in the air; he knew he was old. Not unhealthy, but not the same rambunctious colt he had been. He landed in one of the nooks and crannies that framed the mountainous herdlands, seeking out his mate. She was a bit reclusive in her twilight years, but he would be with her until the end.

	There was a characteristic smile on Zion's face as he stretched his four wings and came in for a landing . It had been an absolutely beautiful day, and the verdant, green grass was springy under his hooves as his momentum slowed after he touched down. Gorgeous. Everything was absolutely gorgeous. Spring was probably his favorite time of year, though it was difficult to pick one. Each season brought with it different wonders of nature. But just something about the new life of this time of year brought such promise and openness about the future. He gave a nod to one of the newest arrivals to their herd, a grey mare with horns, and another to the avian 'daughter' of Thunderbird. Zion had a big heart, and had absolutely no reason not to trust every soquili that had joined this herd implicitely. He had no idea what was brewing, nor would he have believed someone that told him that that very night his calm reality would be shattered.

	Flurry huffed indignantly as she poked around the spring meadow. Her bother had hardly paid her any attention since he had met Cataclysm - one of the daughters of the herd. Who was she supposed to ask to fetch her spring clover... never mind that there was bunches of it growing at her hooves.. The other soquili in this herd were nice enough, and it seemed as good a place as any to lay down roots. After all, there were no more succulent plants than those grown from the freshest, coldest mountain runoff before it had even cascaded off the peaks. And there was no more beautiful sky than that above the cloudline. It was a fine herdground. A premiere herdground even. But... she could always do with a little more attention. "You... hey you, yes you!" She piped up to one of the soquili nearby - she didn't remember his name. "Where on earth do you keep the berries?" She all but demanded.

	Cataclysm finally seemed to understand it. As fillies, her and her sister, Maelstrom, had been inseparable from each other - two little twin terrors who seemed like two hands of the same mind. But as the grew up, they had grown apart, but it was Maelstrom who seemed to have broke away first. She had been the first to find love, to start spending more time with a stallion than with her sister; and for years Cataclysm was all the more bitter for it. She missed her true soulmate, her sister... but several years and foals later and the tides had turned. Maelstrom's mate showed up and less and less. Cataclysm never asked for the gory details, because a part of her was happy to have her sister back. But at the same time, the winter before last, a stallion had blown in with the winter breeze that struck her in ways she had never felt before. And soon, she was inseparable from Frost as Maelstrom had been with her mate. And now, she finally understood. She didn't love her sister any less, but the love she felt with Frost was much different than what she had with her sister. Equal in power, but different in drive; she thought she had known love when she came across the spooky Angeni that led to the bird of Onibi Storm and Stormfall, but it wasn't until Frost came around - his level head and deep respect and gentle nature - so different but at the same time, seemed to complete her soul like puzzle piece. This past winter had been harsh and dreadful, and only he had kept her sane. As she milled around the main, lush valley high up in the mountain peaks, Frost at her side, she felt a kind of peace and contentment she never thought she was capable of.
