Rochben || A god had been found at the border, or so the word was. Haldir had taken charge of the situation but Kisulisuli had run ahead with the news. Gods were welcome here, encouraged to make their roots here, and even coaxed in with the promise of caring for their offspring. However, the two figureheads of the pride stood shoulder by shoulder in direct opposition to one another in demeanor. Rochben, who had watched his pride burn under the wrath of an angry god, stood still as a stone. Every muscle in his body was knotted and tensed. He hadn't spoken since the captain's report and had instead taken to staring out across the lands in anxious wait.
Maji || In contrast, the arch magi was laying quietly against the wall of the council hall. It was a large circular room with three windows- one facing each 'branch' of the pride and three doors, each leading to the winding caves that would escort members from the house of the magi, the house of the oracles, and the military house into the chamber. It was a place for the three leaders of each branch to come together and advise the king. Today it would serve as a welcoming hall to the strange god found at the border.
Maji, like Rochben, had encountered gods in the past. The worst of them had been Tanaka. A horrible being with no manners, he had been been needlessly inhospitable and hostile the moment he stepped into the lands. He was glad to see the back of him and his crimson-pelted mate.
Glancing over to the king, he smiled. "Rochben, come now."
Rochben || The king turned his head and frowned. He could hear paws falling in the hall, large paws, on their way to the chambers. Sighing, he turned away from the window and faced the doorway. "I know, master Maji. Bad memories leave deep scars."
Maji || "And bad first impressions leave wounded relationships." He pointed out, true to his title, he always seemed to be the voice of reason. "Relax. If it was a hostile god, I doubt they would abide by the greeting they were given. We'd all be piles of ash by now."
Rochben || "Quite right." He grunted. "And you will lay there to meet your guest?"
Maji || "Respectfully, it's better than standing like an old log against the window." Regardless of his words, Maji rose to a stand and shook his mane out. Despite his age, he seemed...somehow more youthful these days. An additional spring in his step and a hint of life in his eyes. He raised his chin proudly and watched as the new god entered the hall.
"Ah, welcome." He offered, dipping his head slightly. "I hope old Haldir wasn't too much of a stick in the mud."
Rochben || Nice first impression. Rochben cleared his throat and stepped forward. "We welcome you, your grace."

Rochben || The behavior of the god was startling. At first, Rochben could only stare. As the god seemed almost declawed in nature, innocent, and almost cub-like in demeanor the king relaxed with a sigh. He ignored the pointed 'I told you so' glance from the old magi standing a few yards away and tried to keep focused on their honored guest.
"Your grace is a title we give out of respect to our superiors. If you wish, we will use your given name instead." He ducked his head. "My name is Rochben. I am the king of this pride. The grinning jackal over there-" He motioned to Magi, "Is Magi, arch magi of the pride."
Maji || "Flattered as always, my lord." Maji rolled his eyes and looked to Van.
"...hardly. A lecture? Not unprovoked at least." And now it was his turn to ignore the comical snort from the king. Maji was famous for long winded 'lectures' in regards to the pride. He'd lived too long and seen too much to keep it all to himself.
"Actually we celebrate the arrival of gods here. If my lord is weary, our oracles will see to you. Ease any aches, pains, and hurts you might have while providing water and food at your call." He stepped closer to the god, giving him a short inspection. He'd not seen this one before, nor heard of any like him. How odd. "Might I ask what you represent and what brings you here?"

Rochben || "The honor is all ours, your grace." Rochben assured the god. "We have not seen many of your kind since the fallout. If it's your wish, we could allow you to stay for some time. The oracles would see to your comforts, ensure that you are well-rested, and any aches and hurts were seen to."
Of course, the god didn't seem as interested in seeking out the praise and comforts that were offered to them by the mortals. In fact he seemed quite different than most gods he had met . He seemed cublike, almost naive. When he revealed his domain, Rochben mouthed a silent "oh" and nodded to himself. That certainly explained it.
"Well not all who wander are lost." Rochben quoted, lifting a claw.
Maji || Rolling his eyes at the king, Maji turned back to the god. "I think what he means to say is that there is a reason for e everything, regardless of how aimless it may seem. And we are hardly 'important' really." He chuckled. "Formalities are just ways to get other lions to mind their own business really."
He smiled a bit more as the lion tried to pronounce his domain, then succeeded. Another kindly domain. Thank the... well the gods.
"I am Maji. Not to be confused with my rank... which some have sadly."

Maji || "Maji is fine." He insisted with a patient smile. "There's no need for formalities here, not in your position at least." He glanced back towards Rochben and smirked. "Of course, that does not excuse you, highness."
Rochben || The lion snorted and waved a paw. "Of course, Arch Magi. Go on now, there's no better guide than this old windbag. He was born and raised here, knows the caves better than anyone." And, sad to say, he was the only one that knew the caves well enough not to get lost. Half the time the poor magi was taken from his duties to hunt down a lost soul or two.
Maji || "I'm afraid he speaks the truth." Maji turned back to the young god and motioned back the way he had come. "Come on, I'll be your escort today. Perhaps old Haldir has gone back on patrol. He'll give you no more trouble."
