Having a run in with Haldir was to be expected but having Ru follow her this entire time had been grudgingly unexpected. But Nii was tired from being out of the mists for so long. All she wanted to do was find her den and collapse.

Well, maybe not just yet. She'd not seen the prides heart lands in ages it felt. Though obscured by the mists, the home lands of the mist walkers was quite beautiful. Mysterious and elegant the lands were along with a touch of magic.

Up ahead there was a slick wet ledge over looking a mist obscured waterfall. A perfect place for a weary traveled lioness to rest her paws and think for a moment. Nii needed a moment to think after the criticism of Haldir and the embarrassment of being followed by Ru. Nii was sure that the lion had meant well but it hadn't exactly made her look good in front of Haldir. That lion had a sense of telling when there was fault at paw.

But now was not the time to dwell on such things. Now was time to rest her paws and stare in to the mists of the cascading water falls that made the misties so special.

Fannar was not as bold as her sister Niite'Manu. The blue lioness was usually one to hang back in the shadow of her sister and fly under most lions radars. But that was also what made Fannar a force to be reckoned with when it came to hunting. The prey never knew she was there. Fannar would have made a great sentinel if it wasn't for the fact that she had no interest in lion to lion conflict. Some would say that Fannar was submissive when it came to interacting with her peers. Even if the lion happened to be a trespasser the lioness probably would not have the spine to confront them.

Hunting ended up a much better profession for the young adult lioness. There was a time that she and her sister would hunt together as teens but Nii wanted adventure and much much more. Being a sentinel ended up being her calling despite not being as gifted as Fannar at fading to the mists.

There were often times that Fannar flew under the radar so much that she could be standing right by a lion and go unnoticed. This was much more due to the fact that she had a bit of an over shadowed personality and didn't say much than it did with her ability to fade in to the mists.

Today had been uneventful. Fannar had left with a hunting party earlier that week and was now off duty. She'd been off duty for a few days and just didn't know what to do with her self except for hanging around out side the den area like some kind of ghost.

It was the outline of her sister that had Fannar's ears perk up. Nii was back from scouting? Finally! It had been many moons since the lioness had laid eyes on Nii, her favorite sibling. Very carefully and skillfully the lioness approached her sister. She often didn't realize she was fading in to the mists most times. Fannar was a natural.

Nii did not hear Fannar lurking in the mists approaching ever so closer. The sound of rushing water aided with the fact that Fannar was just that good with out the aid of rushing water made the punk lioness all the unsuspecting. The sounds alone would probably have aided even an outsider. Possibly why the sentinels kept watch at the borders to keep the heart land intact of such aid to outsiders.

Nii was not thinking of such things as outsiders though. Her mind was a million places at once but not there. Her mind lingered on Haldir and Ru but also much much more. The wonders of the outside lands were both terrifying and yet exciting. Not that Nii would trade her homelands for the life of an outsider but it was nice to get an out side look every once in a while. She'd come across a few friendly lion folk that had shared their shelter and bounty with her. Nii never lingered long when outsiders were involved, but she was always grateful when she came across the friendly sort. However, she'd never accept the aid of those that were burdened with a red pelt. To many horror stories as a cub had left her with distorted images of lions of that kind.

Lazily the lioness stretched her haunches.

Nii didn't seem to turn to greet her. Fannar knew her sister hadn't detected her yet. The lioness chalked it up to the loudness of the waterfalls and continued on. It was only when she was with in touching distance did she call for her sister.

"Niite? Uhmmm... It's been a long time and..." She paused and looked down. "And umm... "

As a sentinel, Nii's nerves were tougher than to jump up and make a fool of her self. She was quite surprised but not shaken. Hearing her name first followed by the sweetness of her sisters voice aided in Nii's calmness. If you grew up in the mists it was expected all eyes could be on you at any given moment. They were trained to be ghosts. Still, her shoulders tensed a bit, but not from surprise.

There was another sting to already faltering ego and reminder of just how Ru had stalked her.

"Ah Fannar. What brings you to the waterfalls," She wished she could ask more enthusiastically but she was kind of annoyed before Fannar snuck up on her.

The hint of tension in her sister did not go unnoticed by Fannar. In response the lioness's ears went back suddenly unsure that it was a good idea to come calling to her sister.

"Oh. Uh."

The words seemed to have vanished from her tongue just like that.

"Uh."

There was another pause.

"It was just... well.. you were gone and.." She missed her sister.

Fannar was flustered. Nii sighed and turned slowly to face her sister making an effort to have at least a small hint of a smile on her maw. Fannar didn't mean to have awful timing. That just seemed to happen from time to time.

"Yeah and you were worried."

It was nice to know that Fannar missed her sister. Nii would be lying if she said she didn't also miss her sister.

Fannar half looked away looking shyly up at her sister. There was a small nod. She had, in fact, missed her sister a great deal. The words seemed to just get clogged in her throat. Expressing her self with words was one challenge that Fannar wasn't yet good at. Even though she was a grown adult female lioness.

She was not brave enough to say many things.

Nii's smile widened at laying eyes on her painfully shy sister. It wasn't Nii's fault that she was shy. Some lionesses just were that way.

"I'm glad to be back to see you again. But it has been a long journey and I really outta go catch some z's before it gets to late. You.... should ...relax sis."

Every now and then Nii was the one who had trouble expressing her self as well. Right now it was due to the fact she was dead tired from travel and her brain was just about to shut down. At the very least seeing how much Fannar had missed her made her forget the irritation from her earlier arrival. So there was that.

"I'm back and its likely I won't need to go scouting for some time sooooo I'll be around as usual."

This scouting mission had been her first. It was justified that Fannar would miss her sister in such a tight knit pride.

Fannar managed to smile. Selfishly she was glad to hear that it was not in the foreseeable future that her sister would be leaving again. Out of their litter mates, Nii and Fannar had always been closer.

"You sound tired." She took a step back in to the swirling mists behind her. "I'll be around."

And with that, Fannar faded back in to the mists effortlessly.

Fannar's ability to fade in to the mists was something that made Nii a tad bit jealous. Sure, any misty could fade in to the mists. But there were only some younger misties that could make it look effortless. The elders that had been apart of the mists most,if not, all of their lives were able to of course. But that took years of wisdom. The elders could still probably navigate fading better than Fannar but that was besides the point. Fannar was a natural.

But..... Over all Nii did not envy her sister with how painfully shy she always was. Nii at least could confront other lions and have normal relationships. Her sister was always flying under the radar and often forgotten.

Nii stretched and yawned before turning heel and heading back towards the dens. She'd need a good hardy sleep.
