Help Getting Started Please!

I would like to get started, but being new to this type of interactive adventure / writing I'm not sure how to get started. In truth it is a bit overwhelming. Do you have some suggestions on where I should start?

1. find a role-play that interests you. Usually one starting up is easier to get involved with.

2. create a character following the creater of the role plays guidelines

3. when making posts write in third person as if you are writing a book interacting with other characters.

4. if you have any questions ask by pm or using OOC: ... (meaning Out of Character). Most people are more than willing to help!
