This Kalona Mares Name Alti
Temper Grasping
Personality: Viscious, conniving...no soft touch, gentle words and selfless giver of her time is this mare; she'll heal you alright but it will come at a cost. She will always expect something in return, though she will be subtle at first in her demands.
She has a wide streak of arrogance, knows that her skill set is an invaluable one and will make sure you know exactly how intelligent she is, and eventually she will make you fully aware as to how much of a debt you owe her for your continued good health.
She can be incredibly xenophobic, and has little time for anyone with less than full Kalona blood, but because she is so convinced of her own superiority, her vanity can be used against her as she will succumb to flattery and so in that fashion can be persuaded to help those she normally would cruelly dismiss.
Why is she a healer? What drew her towards this path?
Alti is relatively slight for a Kalona, and wasn't strong physically, though she harboured aspirations that she would grow into her strength. An accident during her youth led to her breaking a foreleg in such a way that she was left with a permanent limp, and in cold weather the leg becomes painful, leading her to 'self-medicate' heavily with herbal concoctions to the point where she becomes more volatile and viscious.
Her leg was set poorly by the herds then healer; Alti blamed the healer for being (so she feels) crippled and prevented from becoming any kind of warrior or hunter, and used the healer to learn all that she could of the healing arts and ways, and then poisoned the old healer, taking her place. Over the years she has perfected and honed her skill, taking what she learned and expanding on it through experimentation and practice.
In her own twisted way there is a small part that wishes to help others; she became a healer because her arrogance led her to believe that she would never make a mistake that would affect anyone's life the way hers was. The being said, her ability to heal the sick and fix the wounded are the only path she has to the power she craves; believing that what she cannot accomplish with her weakened body, she can do so with her mind.

This Kalona Mares Name Kala (pronounced cha-lah; meaning fortress, or castle)
Temper Stoic
Personality: Kala never lets her emotions show, though she feels deeply. She is strong-willed and even-tempered and makes it a point never to appear to be weak. She knows that she would be driven out (at best) or killed (at worst) if her penchant for emotions showed.
Why is she a healer? What drew her towards this path? Although she would never show it or admit it, the suffering of her fellow Kalona causes her pain. She knew from a young age that to tell anyone that would be to show weakness, and she must never be weak, or risk being torn apart. Instead, she acts nonchalant and cold. But just as she knew not to show her weak heart, she knew also that she could not stand by and do nothing about the injuries of others. And so, she became a healer, one who could stand by, waiting to take over in an emergency.
