Lucia ran for her life. All she was dressed in was hospital grade pjs. She'd woken in the hospital with no idea why she was there. They, the doctors and nurses, told her there was an accident, that her parents had died. How?! She ran harder on the cobbled streets of Naples. People chased her but she didn't slow down even when the air burned her throat. She knew her feet were cut up but she didn't care. Hands grabbed her and she screamed. "Lucia! Luce! It's us!" Her Aunt Silvya cried holding her close. "We told the police we would find you! It's okay sweetling, Ssh." Lucia relaxed a little hugging her aunt and uncle tight. "We're talking you to your grandparents. It's okay, We have a change of clothes for you in the car and anything we could save from the accident." Lucia nodded not in the mood to argue and got into the car.

Hours later they pulled up at a dusty old cottage with a fungi infested roof and a tiny little chimey. The cement on the outer walls was cracked and a faded red and the garden looked like it had seen better days. Out the front stood two old people the male was tall and well dressed with a smattering of salt and pepper hair. The woman, a little shorter smiled proudly. Lucia cried out and ran into their arms. Her favourite green dress fluttered as she ran. "Oh little sunflower." Her grandmother purred. "I know this seems sudden but we've enrolled you in a nearby school. . ." No time to grieve. Her grandparents piled in the car and her aunt drove down the hardened dirt road surrounded by beautiful pine trees toward the school. Once there, they guided her out with some of her basic things assuring her that holidays and weekends would be spent with them. Lucia just stared at the school in awe. Her eyes big and round. It was beautiful.

"Lucia Munro." Her aunt said to the receptionist.

"Ah yes! We'll have a mentor in shortly to show her around." The lady purred, bird like in assessing every inch of Lucia. "What power did you say she possessed?"

Power? What? Are these people high? Lucia thought as her family whispered hushed tones to the receptionist.

"She'll do well with our music teacher," The woman replied. "Leave her here things will be fine." After long hugs her family left and Lucia just sat on a chair waiting for whatever came next.

Francis, doing his typical rounds during his lunch bell which happened to be the earlier of the three, overheard some commotion in the school's office. This was his supposed destination, but before he stepped in he wanted to hear what was going on.

"Lucia Munro." Was all he had paid attention to, seeing how the rest was normal for new students. What powers they had possessed, where they would be staying, all of that jazz. Taking a deep, solid breath in, Francis quietly opened the door, walked inside the office, and closed it behind him.

"Bonjour, ma cher." A charming grin on his face, he looked the girl over. No older than 17, and obviously she had been through some trauma. That, of course, would have to be mentioned later.

Before the young woman could respond, Francis took her hand and pressed his lips to it gently. "Francis Bonnefoy, the music teacher we had discussed." He heard the receptionist say behind him, her voice monotonous as always.

"How about we get you situated, hm~?" His grin ceased to fade as he motioned for the door, gently pulling on the teen's hand and beckoning her to follow.

Lucia blinked rapidly. A stunningly beautiful man just waltzed right up to her and kissed her hand!!! Her first reaction was to run away and hide behind her mother, but, she saddened and quickly went with the teacher, she had no mother, she was alone here. Each step she took sent minor vibrations through the clay tiles and wooden floor paneling. She'd forgotten her shoes.

She heard other kids screaming and playing outside. Would she do that again? Be happy? Play? She didn't know. "Buon giorno," She said in Italian. But since he spoke English she switched to that. "Lucia Munro." She added sneaking glances around her as they walked. She didn't hold his hand back until she saw other students and teachers gasping and kinda sorta hiding behind him. She heard whispers from the teachers and students, they could feel the vibrations but thought her an Air Gentry until they saw her eyes.

As the two strolled through the halls, Francis could feel the small vibrations in the floor and, seeing this happen before, automatically knew she was an Earth Gentry. While this type was not as well accepted by the more popular Fire and Water, it was still not a very peculiar sight.

"Ees that all you can say, darling? Your name?" He turned behind him to see her, insecure and feeling alone, and wanted to brighten her spirits a bit. So, to take things up a notch in a sense, he took advantage of all the teachers and students in the hallway. He turned to face Lucia, picking her up into his arms and holding her there as he spoke.

"May I 'ave your attention, everyone! This ees Ms. Lucia Munro, the newest addition to what may be each and eevery one of your classes! Een being so, I expect you all to treat 'er weeth the utmost kindness and respect. Ees that understood?" Francis smiled at his statement, and as the populated hallway stood and stared in pure awe, he looked to see what the girls' reaction might have been.

But she wasn't at his side any more. The second he opened his mouth to introduce her, she found a desk to hide under, hugging her knees like a child, her nervous shaking sending vibrations through the wood splitting it in places. She just wanted to cry! She wanted to be left alone to grieve! She hadn't a chance to since she ran from the hospital. The moment the first few tears dropped the earth beneath the school had shaken badly but the more experienced Earth Gentry had stablized it to the point where only the spot where Lucia was sitting curled and afraid was cracking and trembling.

"What is this?" One of the teachers gasped. "I can't hold it back much longer! Francis! She's your charge do something!" The woman bellowed thrusting the children in the halls outside. "Do it now!"

Francis was stunned. His eyes were wide and there he stood, in shock for a few moments as all the ruckus passed. "What just-?" But he didn't complete his sentence, for he knew all too well what was going on. He strode, fast-footed, into the classroom of which Lucia hid. Instead of finding her right away, he ddecided he would make this a bit entertaining for himself.

In his hand, a small sphere of water appeared. He grinned at his plan, and thus went through with it. "Well well well, we 'ave ourselves zhe leetle rebel 'ere, do we? Someone who doesn't want to play nicely? I'll 'ave you know zat I don't play nice either." He threw the sphere under a random desk, intentionally missing. "Now, eef you decide you want to keep playing hard to get, I'll have to get you with zhis water, ma cher. I really don't zhink you want to know 'ow much eet could hurt." He circled the room, then, intentionally not looking under the tables.

Lucia didn't scream didn't move. She just sat under the table letting herself grieve. . . and then she blacked out.

Lucia rose from her hiding spot her eyes vacant as she lifted her arms the desks splintered. Her blonde hair covered some of her face. She spoke in Italian. Her default. She was warning him. Telling him to leave her alone. To let her grieve. She wasn't a nice person either. For a moment she slipped to English. "You think it funny to torment me? A young girl who's lost everything?!" She let the wood loose also purposefully missing him. Her nose started to bleed but her body didn't register it. The brick walls shook before she turned and left that class room going outside. A few steps on the peaceful grass. The smell of hay somewhere in the distance. The physical trauma got too much and she fell.

Her eyes clearing up watching as fuzzy figures rushed to her. Hands grabbed her and she tried to struggle but nothing worked. Her body wasn't listening. She felt herself lift from the ground and saw the small puddle of blood from where her face laid. She felt so light headed. "Mama. . ." She breathed before passing out again.

A sorrowful sight to witness, indeed. Francis happened to be one of the few who was outside, with Lucia, and he told everyone else he would handle her. After all, she was his responsibility.

"Lucy," He said, coining a new nickname for the woman, all the while knowing she couldn't possibly hear him. "Lucy, you've got to understand zhat zhere are some points een life when you just wanna run and be alone and feel whatever eet ees you may be feeling right now. But, zhat time can't always come right when you want it too. You have to be patient for zhe right time, ma cher. Don't forget zhat." Bonnefoy had picked her up, despite the day's events, and carried her silently into his own sleeping quarters.

Once there, he laid her on his bed and locked his door, one that wouldn't be able to be removed so easily. The girl had lost a lot of blood, unsure really of how. Rest would help her, he knew. So, Francis awaited the awakening of his now sleeping beauty and sat in the chair left at his desk.

Lucia tried to move, but the pain only caused her to slip deeper into the dark embrace of sleep. She fought with strange dreams not believing the voices, the words in her head telling her everything was her fault. Inside she was fighting against the pain, the sorrow, the anger. Outside, she lay perfectly still in the bed.

Hours ticked by, she arrived just after lunch, had her black out ten minutes later and woke slowly toward the end of the sunset. Lucia took a deep breath in, inhaling a foreign scent, it wasn't abhorrent to her senses it was pleasing enough that she gave a little sigh and sank deeper into the sheet until her own smell mixed with it. She ventured to open her eyes and looked around the room. Not hers! She flew up in bed looking around sheet pressed tightly to her chest just in case. But she saw him. That strange french man sitting at his desk doing something. He hadn't seemed to notice her so she let her eyes roam around the room taking in the musical theme with a smile. She liked it already. Every bone in her body was musical. She was headed toward a life long career as an Opera singer before the accident. Maybe she should tell him? This stranger? Maybe. . .

"You gave us all a leetle scare zhere, ma cher." Without looking up from his lesson plans, Francis noticed eyes on him, then around his room, and responded accordingly. "Ees zhere something you wish to discuss with moi?" He then turned to her in his chair, removing his glasses and looking at her, his sea blue eyes filled with some level of worry.

She has great power in 'er. Francis thought to himself, wondering how such a small yet beautiful girl withheld so much of this power.

And on that thought, he stood, gently motioning her back into a lying position and placing a cool, damp cloth on her forehead. "You probably shouldn't do anything too rash, Lucy. Don't wanna hurt yourself now, ees zhat right?"

Lucia frowned gently at him when he called her Lucy. She let him touch her though. Gave him enough skin privileges to make her lay down and tend to her. "No." She said her accent as thick as his. She was going to scold him for giving her a nickname without her permission but bit her tongue against it. He was being so kind. Her face grew pale all of a sudden. She knew what was going to happen next. "Bucket!" She cried going green in the face sitting up against his hands, one of her own against her mouth trying to hold it in. "Per favore!" Please! She gritted her teeth against the violet wave that threatened to undo her. She wanted to bolt somewhere to expel but couldn't as this was a foreign room to her. She had to wait for him to get it. If he didn't want sick on his bed.
PostPosted: Thu Jul 11, 2013 6:02 am
As if cued to do so, Francis gently pulled a small waste bucket from under the bed and placed it in the hands of the girl.
"Zis eesn't zhe first time I've had zis happen, you know." And with that he stepped back slightly, giving the girl her space while keeping his eyes focused on her.

It was true, he had been around this block a few times. Other students had been given to him, a few of which had outbursts and such on the first day as Lucia had. But Francis was able to take the situation and make it into a positive one, just like he intended to do now.

"I do 'ope you 'ave a change of clothes, ma cher. You may want to clean yourself up after you are through." His smile ceased to fade and he folded his arms across his chest. A tough job it would be to handle her, but if he played their cards right, they both would come out victorious.
