Personality of soquili: She's a flirt and a bit of a snob, she does think she's better than most. Unfortunate for her she has a rather protective brother, she doesn't get out much or for as long as she'd like. Her brother likes to keep her all but locked up, or at least away from others. She's good at sneaking about due to this, so she is a bit of a devious sneak as well. Being that she is better than everyone else, even if they don't realize it, she doesn't like boring soquili or plain looking ones either.

Short Summary of their plotline: Ami doesn't have too much of one... So far, she's been swept off her hooves by a gorgeous seathi stallion, who ended up leaving her and stealing one of the shells, which resulted in her never knowing her son. As such, she's firmly invested in never leaving the lake she grew up in.

What is their Personaliy? Ami has been abandoned - by her parents, her fling, and by her daughter and son. She is slowly learning to deal with this by seeking out new friends, though it's hard for her to trust since everyone has left her except for Sunila the otter, her mother's ex-advisor. As she's alone in the lake, it's hard for her to meet people, period.
Amitola is shy, at first. She will hide to make sure she isn't in danger before approaching anyone; she is cautious. If she finds them to her liking, she will embrace them with her whole heart as a friend - if not, she will shun them and barely deign to talk to them. Once she has been made a friend, she is unswervingly loyal and will become whatever her friend needs her to be. Recently, she has become a warm-hearted mother. Always protective of children (any children, not just her baby girl) now, she warns them not to leave the lake, when deep down, she herself is an adventurer in denial. She loves collecting things, but unlike her daughter, will limit the lengths she takes to get them. Reserved and usually a little panicked and/or hare-brained, all Ami needs is to loosen up.
Oh, and she has problems with male seathi.


Does the soquili have a profession? She collects things that have fallen to the lake bottom, so she's a treasure hunter.

What is their family dynamics? She will be raising them by herself, though it will probably depend on how she gets preggo and if she and the father will be sticking together. However, taking into account that the male seathi carries the babies, he could just as likely run off on her.

Traditions: Treasure hunting!
Herd/Family culture: Being as she only has her daughter, (next entry) there isn't much culture their. Illy's an adventurer, and Ami is a closet one. :3

Short Summary of their plotline: She basically wanders and collects pretty stuff, singing as she goes. She's wandered far off from her mother's lake, journeying to the sea. She visits Ami once in a while, but not as often as her mother would like. She has a dolphin familiar that sticks by her at all times and who obsesses about treasure even more than she does.

What is their Personaliy? Illy has a rebellious streak in her. She can be serene and mischievous, sometimes at the same time. She hates being told what to do. She's learned from her mom's mistakes and is skeptical of the very flirtatious soq she runs into - she is extremely wary of one-time romances. She was pretty much born singing, and hummed while she was in her basket - her calling is to become a traveling bard. Though her mother is crazy-cautious about seathi, Illy embraces them, especially the diverse sea-folk, though she is careful not to become too involved with them... When her mother met a seathi from the sea, nothing good but children came from their meeting. One way to really tick her off is to follow her around... Makes her paranoid.


Does the soquili have a profession? She goes out of her way to find treasure, stringing them on Orlando`s jewelry as they find shiny bits. She also has a love for singing and music, and travels as a bard.

What is their family dynamics? Illy wouldn't mind raising kids by herself, but she also wouldn't mind having their father around, as long as he could keep up with her. Orlando, her familiar, will be the father figure if the father doesn't stick around, as he's Illy's partner in crime.

Traditions: Treasure hunting and making music.
Herd/Family culture: Illy's steeped in the need to find pretty things, and her children will be too. She's also very dance-y and musical.

Short Summary of their plotline: As a foal, Kalypso grew up on the beach, living with her family in the caves that had been dug in the coast. Her mother and father were kind, honest, and accepting, and her younger brother was innocent and adorable, as younger brothers go.
One night, the whole family went for a night swim, and her father presented her and her mother with pearl jewelry he'd been making for them. Excited and distracted by the gifts, they did not notice Kalypso's younger brother being pulled into the sea. When they turned around to show him their new jewelry, they could not find him. Kalypso, who swore that there was something in the water with them, fled to the beach. She watched as first her father and then her mother were pulled into the water by what she knew had to be a fabled kelpi.
Haunted from then on, Kalypso was both drawn and repelled by the sea, and travelled down the coast at a safe distance from the water, alone.

What is their Personaliy? Kalypso, due to the loss of her parents and brother, is rather unstable. She hates to be judged by her looks - if someone thinks she's nice just because of the way she looks, she'll turn their opinion right around and shove it in their face. This is mostly due to the fact that she's known perfectly nice people who have been shunned because of an undesirable appearance, which she finds ridiculous and unsettling.
Beneath that part of her exterior, though, lies a very fragile, nervous girl that is drawn to the sea, though she hates going to it. She is genuinely nice once one gets past the exterior roughness, and can sometimes even be awkward if she feels she's said the wrong thing. She's afraid of kelpis and the rest of their underwater ilk, and will never go near the sea at night unless she's with someone that she knows will come in after her. She can often be found staring at her pearls in contemplative or sad silence.


Does the soquili have a profession? Not an official one. She wanders the coast.

What is their family dynamics? She will raise them by herself, as she's so abrasive she'd probably scare the father off. However, if he stuck around, she'd be hooked. If he was a kelpi... He could open a whole new world to her, one that she's been closed off from for so long. He could show her that not every kelpi is despicable, though some are rougher than others. That would be the ultimate fairytale romance. X3

Traditions: Exchanging jewelry as tokens of love, kind of. Each item represents an event in the life of the person receiving the gift. For example, Calixte's father gave her her bracelet when she came out of her basket, and her necklace when she grew to adulthood. Another one would have been given when she'd found a lifemate, had her first children, etc... Except her father never lived to see that.
Herd/Family culture: Kalypso's family believed strongly in lifemating. However, they also thought that a single parent that was always there for her children could be just as good as two. As such, she's thinking about having kids on her own and raising them well, or becoming a surrogate.
