Lysander was a scholar, one of the more well-known among the merfolk. He had studied under the great Mephistopheles from the time he was ten. When his beloved teacher passed away, he had inherited the vast treasure trove of writings that had filled the floor to ceiling shelves in his teachers library. It would take him a lifetime to read it all, but this was his passion, and his calling. If he spent his whole lifetime in his library, he would consider it a life well spent. But he was not a recluse. No, it was his belief that the wealth of knowledge he had been entrusted with needed to be shared with others of not only his kind, but of those who dwelt upon the dry land as well. So he was more than willing to attend royal functions, dinner parties, family gatherings where he could entertain the children with stories from ages past. He would even accept invitations from land dwelling royals, to come speak at their events, as long as there was a waterway for him to use, in order to reach the event. And he was very much interested in having a family of his own. He had not yet reached a point in his life where the opposite sex held no attraction for him. On the contrary, he found the ladies to be quite entertaining in their own right, and would never turn down an opportunity to spend time with them. But he never neglected his studies, or his researching of old manuscripts. There was still so much to be learned from his late teachers writings, and it would take him the rest of his life to garner just a pinch of knowledge and wisdom from it all.

A single drop paid tribute to those knights who had fallen in passed ages, defending both the Code and the King.
The knights code was something very dear to Benevolent's heart, and he was always on the lookout for chances to put it into action. If there was someone needing protection, he was there to defend them. Injustice and evil were two things he could not tolerate, and he would challenge any who followed those principles. Many victories were accounted to his intervention where injustice was present. He also deplored liars and deceitful merfolk. If he caught you in a lie, he would not hesitate to call you out on it. His word was his bond, and never would he think of breaking a pledge or promise he made to someone. All in the kingdom and the court knew they could rely on Benevolent to not only keep his word, but keep their secrets, so long as those secrets did not endanger the safety of King and kingdom.
Now Benevolent was on the lookout for a lad such as he had been in his youth. Someone he could teach the Code to, and mold into a knight the King would be proud to call his own. Are you such a lad? Some are able to remember his appearance, and marvel at the markings on his torso and face. What they represent, none can say.
