Calder stalked the plains of Mkoana. He was out, hunting as usual. As were his duties as a hunter. At least it gave him time to think clearly, without one of those Tokas butting in. Pesky lions with a superiority complex. Who was he kidding? He was just as unpleasant to Druids, such as himself. Normally the only way to get a word out of him was to approach directly. And even then, chances were he'd use sarcasm to its limits and beyond.

A zebra was in the distance. A fair kill if he could evade those hooves. Luckily, he had grown agile from hunting, something he valued more than brute strength. He got low in the grasses of the savannah. Good as his. Unless some idiot messed it all up...

As it turned out, it was not some idiot that was out on the edge of the pride, but a certain druid that had been in the same spot watching the pale lion for some time. Not a single sound or movement betrayed him. Labeled 'forsworn' by the invaders of his homeland but under the label lay a warrior, experienced and patient with enough of life's scars marring his dark pelt to prove his worth without obvious effort.

Darkly patterned fur was rarely seen by daylight, but the past few nights had proven busier than usual so the nocturnal male had been forced by hunger and discontent to appear during the day in order to feed himself. But for the moment he lay invisible under the thick shade of a young beobeo tree, silently watching the current hunter, waiting for its conclusion and the unknown male to move on so Samar himself could find something to eat.

Calder jumped, the zebra seeing him in an instant. He was relatively green at hunting, having just officially started. He was taking food for those locked away now, something most lions were tired of doing. The trek there would be long, and he'd be remote to eat it the entire time. But he'd be sure to avoid temptation.

Managing to grab it's leg. The young lion took it down. He was swift with the kill, but a tad sloppy at the same time. Getting used to his might take a while....

((SO SORRY))

Pale eyes followed the stranger as the hunt was sprung prematurely and the kill made with a little less skill than Samar was used to, causing one dark brow arched high over moonglow orbs. Once the beast was down and safely dead, Samar stood and stretched his muscular limbs lazily. It would do no good to start his own stalk and be stiff from laying in the grasses, such lack of forethought would cause most hunts to fail regardless if the other circumstances are all in favor.

Pausing to look out at the male beside the now-corpse, Samar frowned faintly. He looked almost..... familiar, now that the lion was up out of the concealing grasses and more visible. The expression deepened as Samar tried to place him, suddenly wary of the fact that he might be near a Toka male at feed time. The Tokas were violent and untrustworthy any way, Samar didn't want to be any where near one while they had fresh blood close by. Who knew how bad their tempers got when they were hungry.

But instinct told him this one wasn't a Toka, which meant he had to be a Druid. The thought allowed Samar to relax a little. If he was another Druid, maybe Samar would offer to aid him, and at the very least it meant there would not be a bloody battle out here today.

Taking the dead mammal in his maw, Calder began to drag it towards the Ravine Prison. Normally most people found this chore too cumbersome and ate most of the kill before delivering it. Calder, however, took it seriously. He could catch his own food along the way, while guarding this from other carnivores. Hopefully.

At the moment, he was glad nobody was here to see him. This was about the fourth time doing this, only just reaching adulthood. Still, despite a full mane there was still some room to grow. When he was little he thought he'd never become as large as the male lions he saw.

"Infernal... I should've just herded you to the ravine before finishing you." he muttered, frustrated.
