((Please note this is backdated, long before the flood and while Kirja is pregnant. : P))

It was a beautiful day in the Nchi'mahadhi lands. There was ample sunshine, with hardly a cloud in the sky, and a strong breeze that took the edge off the heat. It was far too gorgeous a day simply to sleep, so the large lion picked his way closer to the Great Lake. The wind stirred up some white-caps that were pushed to shore, the sound almost hypnotic in its constant rhythm.

The shore was surprisingly bereft of lions this day. Granted, it was hot out, but it was surprising to the pale coated male that more weren't taking advantage of the afternoon by the beach. Ah well, to each their own. It only meant that his performance would be solo today, and he would play for the sand, the waves, and the sunshine.

With a small shaker attached to his tail tip (he was almost never without one), and his favored drum strapped over his shoulder, the large lion settled. He started by flicking his tail tip in time with the ocean waves, before he began to tap the drum. The beat he played was methodical, hypnotic to start, in cue with the lake's waves. But as time wore on, he began to play double-time, quickening the rhythm even as his shaker kept cue from the waves.

This was a beat of joy. . . Just because it was a lethargic day didn't mean that all life had to stop, after all. For lion or for drum.

Honestly because of how hot it was and her partly black body could not handle it. or at least she could not handle it too well. She hated the heat on days like this however she knew there was one great thing to do and that was to head over by the water and take a dip to make herself feel a little better. Now that she was carrying cubs in her belly it make it a little more difficult to make it to the water's side and of course to her it made it hotter and not only that but it made everything more frustrating. She didn't like being pregnant but she was hoping that the result was going to be worht it in the end.

She was knocked up by a wandering male, he was attractive and very much the sweet talker which made it tempting to get to know him and spend the night with him. The next morning he was gone though and Kirja did not know of the consequences that were coming to her. Her mother was the first to figure it out and she was pretty sure the entire pride new by now. Her belly starting to show, although not really large, was a good proof of the fact that she was expecting. She was also pretty sure the entire pride knew of the passing male. It was a small pride and these things were normally taken note of and accounted for. But Kirja also knew that flings were not frowned upon, cubs were also things that were very much enjoyed and she knew that otehrs would enjoy seeing them around.

She just had to get used to this darn walking thing!

she made her way to the water's edge when she spotted a male. She had known the male while growing up. they were never close but she saw a lot him. He was a little older than her but he seemed very friendly that was for sure. "Hello there!" She greeted cheerfully as she made her way close and closer to the shore.

Yafeu was so intent on his drumming that he was completely unaware of Kirja's approach. He had slipped past his intense focus on keeping up the hypnotic rhythm with the shaker attached to his tail, as well as the beat in time with the waves of the great lake before him, and had slipped in to a sort of trance. He could feel the music, and while he heard the beat he pounded in to the drum, felt the weight of the shaker upon his tail, he had lost himself to music.

The large lion could have, perhaps, played for hours had Kirja not called out. Instinct finally demanded Yafeu pull his head out of the clouds, out of his daydreams, and focus on the world around him. An ear twitched, and suddenly he remembered himself -- and (if perhaps a bit too slowly) recognized that someone had spoken.

His rhythmic beating hesitated, throwing him off just enough for him to glance over at the souce. He was sure enough not alone! The black, white, and crimson striepd lioness was indeed a familiar face. She was one of Mawi'Mai's daughters, he knew, and had grown up with her. His own mother was friends with the good natured Mawi, so it was only natural that he recognize her family easily.

Kirja was no exception.

Granted, Yafeu wasn't particularly close to many of the pride, but that in part came with the nature of the pride. It was small enough almost everyone knew of others business, as well as a name and face. . . but large enough to mean independence wasn't far off. The Nchi'mahadhi lions were close without being intimate, and Yafeu was no exception. He knew most members by name, or at least by title, but that was the end of it.

Smiling warmly at the female, Yafeu slowed his music before stopping the drum completely. Giving a deep dip of his head, the red eyed male greeted the other. "Salutation, Kirja! Out for a beach side stroll I see?" He questioned. It was unlikely she was seeking him out, though possible she had come for a swim as opposed to a stroll.

Sure, she was heavy with a litter of cubs, but that didn't stop them from swimming. . . right? Honestly, cubs were a bit of a mystery to the young male. He wouldn't mind having a family his own, but . . . . it also wasn't something he needed. Not right now, at any rate. A mate would be necessary first, and unfortunately, he had yet to charm any lady off her paws.

Thankfully, he was in no rush.

Kirja had too known the male since she was a young cub. She loved seeing the faces around the pride and getting to know them, she enjoyed talking to other members in the pride striking up a conversation was something that she always enjoyed. It didn't matter who was in the pride that she was talking to, she even enjoyed talking to strangers really. Which in a case didn't leave her in the best position being as she was now heavy with cubs and close to delivering even though she would never see him again. But at the same time she didn't mind. Flirtiness wasn't really something disproved of in the pride. Either way everything happened for a reason that was for sure.

She paused and flicked her tail around behind her before looking at the male and smiling, she was very glad to hear him drumming, seeing another play music was something that she had always enjoyed watching and always enjoyed participating in music she loved it more than anything else that was for sure. She paused for a moment and then looked at him a smile was on her face. "A wonderful day for music, huh, Yafeu!?" She asked curiously before answering his question. If there was anything that Kirja was known for it was the same thing that her mother was known for. She was almost always talking to others, greeting them and spending time with the, she liked to get to know all of the pride. she liked every single one of them. It really could be said that Kirja didn't think badly of anyone ever. She never really cared, there was always something good that another could do.

"And yes! it seems to be a wonderful day today and i figured it would be nice to come out here and see the sun and the water!" She chuckled again before moving toward the water's edge and settling into it. She enjoyed the water, and now she was almost always hot with the cubs. "With a coat like this the water is extremely helpful." She then turned toward the male shifting her body carefully so that she could see him. She was almost always uncomfortable at this point. no matter how she laid or what she did she felt like everything just wasn't where it needed to be. She really didn't like it but she knew that there was nothing thtat she could do about it until she had the cubs, she figured that she would make the best of what she had.

"What brings you out and about here?" She asked him curiously wondering what brought him to the water's edge to drum on a beautiful day like this. There sure wasn't anything wrong with it but on the other hand she enjoyed her chance to strike up a conversation and find out about theo thers that she hadn' talked to in a while.

Sooo sorry for the delay! And apologies for the short reply -- gotta dust him off and get back into his personality groove. neutral

"I couldn't have said it better myself. Though everyday is a good day for music," he conceded with a nod, giving himself a bit of a stretch as he shifted out of his drumming position. He enjoyed creating rhythms and beats, and doubly so enjoyed having an audience. . . .but he did not want her to perceive him as rude by focusing on his music while he spoke. Besides, if she was moving over to the waters edge, the waves and the drums might drown out any words they would speak.

His music could wait.

Shaking out his plush mane, the lion stepped up to the shore, not far from where Kirja had settled herself. At least she seemed comfortable, in an awkward sort of way. Honestly, he couldn't imagine what it was like to have to carry a litter of cubs. . . . It was something he was glad that the females needed tend to, and his respect for them only grew exponentially. "How've you been feeling? It looks like it won't be long before you'll meet the little ones you carry." He hoped she didn't mind him questioning her state or her health. . . While there were many lionesses in the pride that often gave birth, he'd never really spoken to any of them. "If you need anything though, let me know." Not that he didn't think she couldn't handle herself, she just. . . well. . . . . it couldn't be easy running around carrying (potentially) up to six cubs!

Settling partially on the beach, partially on the waters edge, letting the waves lap at his front paws and arms, the lion gave a shrug and a smile. "It seems two great minds think alike. The beach drew me to it this morning as well, and I thought it might be well to play to the serenade of the lakes waters. There's just something peaceful about the lake and its shores, so it certainly seemed like an idea time to play."
