As other students rushed forward to get in, Merope hung back, uncertain. He was looking forward to discovering the water, and yet... He looked from student to student as they climbed into the pool, shuffling his talons uncertainly. Should he join them? Where should he sit? He was unfamiliar with social practices regarding hot springs. With the lake it was fine; everyone could join in there and use them as they wanted. Was it the same with a hot spring?
Merope looked down at himself and grimaced at the bits of molerat that coated him. He didn't feel like attracting any fish with the free giblets that still clung to him. He filled up his time and uncertainty by removing his shirt and using it to wipe himself clean as best as he could, tossing glances towards the hotspring and trying to figure out what to do based off of what everyone else was doing.
He decided rather quickly that his peers weren't exactly a good way to discover and judge social graces on, based on the amount of screaming, roaring, and fire being tossed around. Merope was torn. On one hand, he really wanted to go into the water. On the other hand... he wasn't sure if he could, or even if he should given the circumstances.
Thankfully the decision was made for him as Moria announced the reveal of other springs. Merope made a bee-line for the Not-Very-Hot-At-All Springs, his escort of molerats in tow. In an instant he had dropped his shirt and towel to one side, jumping into the first chilly pool he spotted.
In less than a moment later, Merope resurfaced clutching his gills and swearing in surprise.

Danny didn't even wait for Moira to say another word. As soon as the lava pools revealed themselves (thanks to some lovely gnomes and Moira's call), she was running for the pools. As she ran she shouted, "GERON .... GEROM ... ger- ... EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"
She splashed in full clothed, swimming in little circles. Best day ever. BEST DAY EVER. Her little molerats had followed her, and were stupidly bounding into the lava. Danny held out her hands though, and they seemed to understand the "wait!" command. Well looks like Winston and Winston 2 were good at some things! Danny was easily gaining an new favorite teacher and class. Whacking things, exploding things and lava pools? Yes yes yes.
"Hey Moiraaaa," she called out in a whiny voice, "Can molerats go in lavaaaaa?" Anyone smart would know they probably couldn't, but hey- Danny wasn't smart.

TG got dressed, took his coat, and walked to where the lava pools were mentioned, muttering 'overgrown newt' loudly back at Jericho for the gnome comment. He wasn't some damn gnome!
The lava baths were just as inviting, their fiery glow radiating up, and TG sat on a bench, finally feeling warm enough since coming to the school aside from his own dorm. Not even needing his coat, for once, he just leaned back on a bench, relaxed, and tried to ignore the class.

No amount of action had convinced Riley to enter the pools. She stayed where she was, and felt justified in her choice when Jericho flamed down the water, in an attempt to burn the imp. When it failed, she watched, very carefully - perhaps too carefully - the interactions and attempts Shehk offered in an effort to calm him. When he launched himself at the imp, and the world fell into watery chaos, Riley was once again proud that she had decided to stay away from the springs themselves.
She wanted to be worried. She wanted to help soothe the savage beast, as she normally would. But all she could feel was the same rage, the same inaccurate confusion, and the sense that somehow, somewhere deep down, she was just a little bit lost. It angered her. Everything angered her, at this point.
Her eyes flickered to look at Jericho for a moment, before she slumped down at her side of the springs, and curled up tightly while watching the students play in the water.

Seeing molerat after molerat explode was horribly distressing, but the knowledge that Moira hadn't tricked him into ruthlessly clobbering a whole bunch of poor, toothy creatures gave him some peace of mind. He still wasn't happy about it, and though he truly appreciated the efforts of the student who had tried to get him to make his own attempts at taming, he just couldn't do it. If the poor things' defense mechanism was to just have a head-exploding moment, he couldn't give them a reason to defend themselves.
So the stick was (gently) cast aside, and the Cerberus did his best to not watch on as more failed attempts at taming ended up splattered all over everything. But when his instructor said that they were all going to be relocated...oh, that was much better for the survivors! Maybe it would be nice and quiet and wonderful there, and they would never have to explode themselves again.
(for the next few weeks, Thackery would leave bits of jollymeals at the mouths of everything that even looked like a cave opening, because they might have really been hungry from all that fighting)
He smiled at Moira, feeling much better about the entire adventure. This was maybe okay after all. Adjusting his cloak towel, he watched with wide eyes as the stone shifted, gaze settling upon...
SWIMMING TIME.
The Cerberus didn't even bother to change, opting instead to use his natural ability for the best thing ever. He was running at a full sprint by the time he reached the spring, where he hopped into the water, paddled around momentarily, hopped out, and did it over, and over, and over again, not really caring who he barreled over in the process. As the other students began to get comfortable, however, there was really no more room to swim...and that just cut down on his fun substantially.
He dragged himself out of the spring and was all but ready to droop miserably like the saddest puppy when Moira made everything better again - Really Hot Springs?
Was it like home!?
Barking, he bounded into the other room, coming to a tumbling stop as he basked in the warmth. Oh, this was perfect. He would never feel homesick again knowing that this was just a few minutes from his dorm!
After surveying his fantastic new kingdom, he flopped next to a lava pool and pawed contentedly at the glowing goop.
"Hhhhow did someone forget something as awesome as this place?" he mused aloud, pleased that their expedition had been the one to rediscover it.

Levi arrived to help, a ghoul Siobhan did not yet know. "W-we uh.." Siobhan started to attempt an explanation. "Fell." Yup.
A familiar voice sprang through, and Siobhan's eyes lit up, turning to see King had returned. The return of the King.
"Fade... oh... I can." Siobhan said with a slow realization. Oops. How embarrassing. The banshee's image flickered for a moment as she pulled away from Lizzy, releasing her from captivity. But her epic mound of tangles remained, if not worse.
A horrible, heavy, wet, thick, tangled mess of hair.

Moira shook her head at Danny's question. "No, sorry spookie! They get all roasty-toasty and that is definitely not humane."
The zombie watched the students for a few more minutes before clapping her hands loudly for attention. "Thank you all for coming~ and helping! You all did such a good job! Now.. let's get our little friends taken care of." Moira pulled out a whistle and blew it - apparently. No sound emerged that any student could hear, but all the tamed molerats turned towards her and walked over to sit behind her in an adoring line. "Don't worry, spookies! You can say your goodbyes, and you can go visit them in the swamp later if you want!"
That dealt with, Moira focused on the students again. "So here's some homework - bring a friend who wasn't on our adventure back to the springs, and tell me how they liked it! You can write it down and turn it in at my office." She gave the entire cavern a satisfied look.
"Okay! You can keep playing here if you want, but for right now... adventure complete!" She flashed them all a thumbs-up.
Quote: The class is over!- A little bit early, yes, but due to RL stuff I'm restructuring and assigning homework instead of doing a final battle. Aren't you lucky? - The homework is to do a PRP set in the Springs with a student who wasn't present in the class. When you finish your PRP, have your student drop off the link and a short paragraph on how their guest liked the springs/what they did~ all homework should be turned in at Moira's office! Turn it in by 11:59 pm PST March 10th in order to earn the +1 for a homework assignment. The homework isn't mandatory, but if you don't do it you don't get the extra point! - You can play a bit longer (finishing up in the springs, saying goodbye to your molerats, etc.) but please move your interactions towards a wrap point. And finally and most importantly: The Amityville Springs are now a permanent location on campus, freely usable as a setting for RPs! The setting information will be added to the campus location roster.
Thank you for helping discover and restore it!
