A short while after the events involving Ratatosk, Yuan Ka-Fai was visited by mysterious twins claiming to have come from a distant future where Aselia went to ruin. Their message was of enough dire urgency that they sought the ears of the Heroes of Regeneration, the Knight of Ratatosk and his partner, and even Kratos Aurion, the overseer of developments on the traveling comet of Derris-Kharlan. By their strange power of time and space, they were able to reach out to the faraway seraph.
The twins advised those in the gathering who were still mortal to find any way they could to prolong their lives past their normal span, as they would all be playing an indirect yet pivotal part in undoing the broken future over the course of one hundred years.
Flash forward to that point in the future. The world has developed more, but all is still not well--with deadly monsters growing more unruly and ravaging the land, discrimination turned upon the new races, bandits attacking the innocent, as well as inner fighting within the governments, now is the time for heroes old and new to step up and face the enemies to help build A New Tomorrow.

Peeps in charge overall are Krazy-Chibi & Azura Cantarella. Profile Reviewers are Azura Cantarella and Fedora Warrior.
1. We would like to see committed RPers who are damn sure they can keep up, not people who join and only post like once and never post again. I understand people have lives outside of Gaia (I'm pretty busy myself lately), so just try your best to post when you can. If you joined thinking you could keep up, but later find that you actually can't, then please find a way to write your character(s) into exiting the plot.
2. If you would like to join, please make a thread with your character's profile in the Roleplay Resources Subforum, then PM the link to both Azura Cantarella and Fedora Warrior. They are the ones who will review your profile before you may be allowed to post in the RP. Make sure your profile follows the skeleton provided after the rules.
3. Make sure your spelling is readable. You don’t have to be perfect, just understandable.
4. No god-modding, nobody likes a invincible character.
5. Keep it PG13, don’t over do it with violence, language and romance scenes (think of what content would be in an actual Tales game).
7. Flaming will not be allowed, it's rude and disrespectful. If you just can't avoid drama, take it to PMs.
8. While not a must, it is advised to stick to a character that fits your personality (don’t be a cheerful character and be depressed all the time for example), so that you remain comfortable playing them.
9. Read the previous posts so you know what’s going on, and so you don’t confuse other RPers in your next reply. Find something in the others' responses to build your replies on, so that it shows you're paying attention.
10. Should you have additional ideas or arcs you plan on throwing in, and you need to discuss it with us in length in order for it to go smoothly, please do it in the OOC/Plotting Thread.
11. Please don't clutter up the RP with OOC conversation. A little is fine when it comes to inquiring and clarifying about a character's reaction, but if you're going to have quite a lengthy conversation that veers way off topic, please take it to the OOC thread linked in the previous rule.

Helnair: Unbeknownst to most of the world, a city hidden in the depths of the Mirkwood's fog.
Vanaheim is a more steampunk-themed world, and its technology is more advanced than Aselia's. It is scarred by the pollution caused by the over-industrialization advocated by the empire of the country of Midgard, the largest and most powerful in the world. The empire is also war-mongering, and the reason it looks to claim the world of Aselia is to drain it of its resources.
Of course, there are other continents in Vanaheim, and some of them remain pristine, well-protected by their rulers. One such place is the country of Izumo, ruled by a benevolent empress. Another is the continent of the Mirkwood, which almost no one knows whether or not it is inhabited. It is shrouded by a fog of "strange mana", which lays a heavy, sickening effect on anyone (and we do mean anyone---it would even sicken Kratos and Yuan) who dare try to pass through it.
Note: These races exist in both Aselia and Vanaheim.
Yokai (Demons) - The predominant race of Vanaheim, a race of demons. They make up most of the Empire and the majority of them advocate the over-industrialization of their world. They merely look like horned humanoids most of the time and are stronger than they look. When they feel it's called for, they change into their "true", more powerful and inhuman-looking forms.
These demons are unlike that of Niflheim and are able to survive in an atmosphere of mana. In fact, there is mana in their home world, Vanaheim, but it is a different sort from that of Aselia. After all, when it began leaking from their world into Aselia's, it caused some mutations in the monsters and the Half-Elves of Exire...
Yokai have been migrating into Aselia for the past 15 years, but in extremely small numbers so as to keep a low profile.
Wingfolk (NOT ANGELS) - People with feathered wings on their backs. The coloring of their wings is a reflection of their personality. These exist in both Aselia and Vanaheim alike, and were often mistaken for Angels in Aselia. In Vanaheim, they have always existed since the dawn of time, along with the other races of that world.
But in Aselia, Wingfolk are what the half-elves of Exire "evolved" into, due to a "strange mana" flowing from the Otherworldly Gate. This energy spurred a mutation that took the course of 70 years to complete---to this day, those born throughout those 70 years have underdeveloped wings that are still growing into completion. Those born after the 70 years are born with wings that develop normally, given they had parents whose mutations were complete.
It is also possible that Vanaheim Wingfolk had migrated into Aselia, but only within the past 10 years from present time.
Werefolk - The race deemed as "close-to-nature", originally from Vanaheim and made up of humans/elves/half-elves that can take an animal form and can pass their condition by bite (while in their animal form). Experienced Werecreatures can change at will, while newly born/turned ones need to learn how to get there. Overall, however, the full moon will absolutely force their changes. Whether experienced, newly born, or newly turned, they all still keep their human consciousness past transformation.
The majority of them are against the over-industrialization of Vanaheim and are captivated by how Aselia is more simple and closer to magic, thus many of them make the move when they find out how to.
Werecreatures have been migrating to Aselia for about the past 20 years from present time, so it is possible for native Aselians to have been turned by bite. Compared to the other races, Werecreatures still are relatively small in number. Not to mention, they are viewed as a "cursed race", and the newly turned are usually shunned by their families.
The original Werecreatures that migrated from Vanaheim to Aselia kept their mouths absolutely shut about their origins to anyone but the families they came to raise, so native Aselians have no idea where they came from. They've come to assume they're natives inflicted by an evil curse.
NOTE: Wingfolk and Werecreatures face discrimination on the same level as Half-Elves because they are viewed as abnormal in Aselia. The general public DOES NOT know of the existence of Yokai.

~::THE ORIGINAL HEROES::~
Lloyd Irving - Lloyd and Dirk are the captains of the Craftsmans Guild in Iselia. He is still fairly easygoing and kind of an idiot at times, but he has matured over the years and has become a very skilled blacksmith. Had he not heard the warnings about the future of Aselia, he wouldn't have resolved to extend his life beyond its natural span as he is morally against the idea, but he chose to live on to help protect the world and people he cares about. He is currently investigating a possible underground revival of Exspheres.
Colette Brunel - Colette has aged enough to look like she is around her late twenties. Her personality hasn't changed much either, but if anything, she now has a tendency to be motherly at times. Like Lloyd, she has chosen to live on after she too heard the warnings about the future, because she loves the world just as much. Her current job is working as a priestess for the Church of Martel. She helps people sort out their problems while praying in the name of the goddess. She is also currently traveling around with Lloyd.
Raine Sage - Looking in her late thirties by now, Raine had been traveling the world with Genis, continuing their efforts toward the acceptance of Half-Elves, and in addition, acceptance of mysterious Werefolk race that had appeared over time. She also continued to study ruins. Through the past century and to her surprise, previously undiscovered ruins slowly began to turn up. Actually, she was vaguely hinted to this discovery by the mysterious pair that appeared to her and her friends ages ago, but the sheer scale of these finds were still breathtaking to her. They were signs of a civilization that had never been recorded in even the oldest existing volumes of archaeology in Aselia.
Genis Sage - Genis appears to be around his late twenties and is only slightly shorter than Lloyd. His hair has grown a little longer, and he has it tied back in a ponytail. His senses keen to mana, he had noticed over the years the entry of a strange energy into the world. During his travels with his sister, they have witnessed the gradual change of some of the things that live in the world; notably, the evolution of the people of Exire. He still fights with a kendama, feeling that he has grown too used to it and that there has been no other tool that can help him concentrate on his spells better. And he ended up marrying Presea and having a son with her, named Victor.
Sheena Fujibayashi - After that fateful meeting a century ago, Sheena didn't even know where to begin on how to extend her life. But a solution soon came when Zelos introduced her to Rhone, asking him to figure out a way using the Exsphere she was already wielding as side research. The project turned out to be a success, at least granting her Elf-like aging as well. After Igaguri and then Tiga had passed on, she finally took on the role of Chief of Mizuho up to present time. Finding that the job doesn't allow her to investigate things as much as she was able to in the past, she has deployed a significant number of agents all over Aselia to help her gather information and keep her up to speed on the state of things. Physically, she appears to be in her early thirties.
Zelos Wilder - Personality wise, a hundred years hasn’t changed a thing. He too used his Cruxis Crystal to prolong his life, after that meeting. He said he just wanted to see what happen to the world of the future. Some thought he meant it, others thought he just wanted to continue his womanizing. He also had been funding and overlooking a research project behind the scenes with Rhone Craft involving Exspheres, driven on the memory of how much one had helped his beloved but sickly late half-sister Seles. It was unbeknownst to the public, even Lloyd, until now. Additionally, on the sidelines, he and Sheena have been preoccupied with the case of their missing grandson, Christopher Wilder.
Presea Combatir - Presea would have discarded her Exsphere and continued a life of relative normalcy, but the warnings about the future drove her to hold onto it. As it was one cultivated through the Angelus Project, it slowed her aging as well, allowing her to grow at the same rate as Genis, whom she ended up marrying. She appears to be in her late twenties as well. She had spent her years helping Ozette steadily rise in higher glory, making it the lumber capital of Aselia, and has also helped in eradicating most of the town's attitude toward Half-Elves. She is the captain of the Lumberjack Guild, which she runs with her son Victor.
Regal Bryant - Regal was also introduced to Rhone through Zelos, and thus has also had his own Exsphere modified like Sheena's so that his life could extend too. Through all these years, he's stuck to his role as President of the Lezareno Company, and having never moved on from Alicia, he never married. About a decade ago, he had adopted a young, orphaned Werefolk girl whom he found while visiting a district where his company's products were being distributed. As a result, he's also stepped up voluntarily as a figurehead against the discrimination of Werefolk, sharing his efforts with the Sage siblings. He is also familiar with Azriel Serafina, who has temporarily worked for his company in the past.
Yuan Ka-Fai - Yuan still keeps his self-appointed task of guarding and caring for the World Tree, but has been making frequent trips to his Renegade bases to keep himself updated on happenings around the world. Watching and waiting for the signs that those twins periodically feed him, watching how everything just falls into place from their vague words. He's had the Renegades join forces with Sheena's agents of Mizuho to create an information network that spans the world to efficiently observe what happens as it unfolds.
Emil Castagnier/Ratatosk - After marrying Marta, he lived a semi-normal life as a human. After that meeting called by those "visitors from the future", the two went down to Ratatosk at the Otherworldly Gate to inform him about it, hoping that the Summon Spirit somehow had a way to extend their lives for they wanted to live on to defend the world with the others. As it turns out, simply granting them the status of Knight of Ratatosk could indeed grant them a prolonged life and slowed aging by having a Centurion share its immortality with them. Emil's is shared by Tenebrae. They were allowed to carry that role until they've successfully diverted the threat from Aselia, after which they will return to normal aging.
Marta Lualdi - Having been granted a long life by the Knight of Ratatosk status, Marta spent her time maintaining leadership of the Vanguard organization, turning it into a guild centered on doing good deeds for the people of Aselia. This usually involves rescue work, relief operations in times of natural disaster, and defense against major threats. A division also joins in the efforts of the Sage siblings and Regal Bryant against racial discrimination, preventing and intercepting hate crimes. The Centurion that is sharing its immortality with her is Lumen. It also just so happens that General Naomi is among the members of the Vanguard; the mysterious twins have advised Marta to keep a close eye on her.
Kratos Aurion - The sudden appearance of the strange couple on Derris-Kharlan all those years ago was slightly alarming to Kratos. He could not bring himself to believe them until they displayed their odd power over time and space, physically transporting him back to Aselia for a brief meeting with the rest of the heroes. After which, he was sent back to the comet, told that all he could do from then on was wait and continue overseeing its inhabitants build their society and civilization, but also warned that the invaders from "the other world" also had Derris-Kharlan in their interests. He would be seeing everyone again around the end of a century when it was due to make its return toward Aselia.
Richter Abend - There hasn't been much change with Richter—after all, he's been serving as Niflheim's seal in the Ginnunggagap all this time. Since enough mana has gathered by now to serve as a temporary lock (not to mention, a monster with a large mana life force has been placed as a temporary guard for good measure), Ratatosk will temporarily release him from his duty for a time to help with the situation.
Noishe - Throughout the century, the Protozoan was off and about doing what he desired, though not without paying Lloyd many visits. He too was a part of that fateful meeting a century ago, as the odd twins hinted that even he had a place in what was to unfold. However, for the past three months, he had gone into hiding as he felt his evolution into his human stage had been abruptly triggered.
Ilene Florence (Castagnier) Gender: Female
Age: 87 but looks 25
Personality: Take Marta’s “spunky attitude”, Emil’s mindset on fighting (really would rather not unless it absolutely necessary), and whenever she’s angry well, watch out---she has a "Ratatosk mode" side to her as well.
Bio: Ilene grew up with her parents until she was about 16 at which time she decided to go out and make a name for herself. She started to use the alias of Florence to make her a bit less noticeable in the public eye (having a mother that runs the prominent Vanguard Guild tends to give a bit of unwanted attention). Still, even after 70 years of wandering around, she tends to keep regular contact with her parents. As she continued her journeys she has gained acceptance with her long life, and has let the wind take her.
Other Notes: Her slowed aging somehow came from being born to parents that bear the Knight of Ratatosk status. Perhaps also because of Emil's nature itself, and that subconsciously, Ratatosk would rather spare them the pain of experiencing a parent's pain over their child's death. Once they have fulfilled their goal they are free to relinquish their status, which will bring the entire family back to the normal aging rate of a human.
Kratos Irving Gender: Male
Race: Human (Aging is slowed due to having two angels for parents)
Personality: Kratos has always been gentle by nature. Despite the fact that he has the build to be a great warrior, he prefers not to fight. However, when he feels it is necessary, he can fight very well with his large smithing hammer and his modified gauntlets. Not only can he smith new weapons for those who ask, he is also a bit of an inventor. Using new technology, he is beginning to create new items with various uses.
Bio: Born 13 years after the events of the first game, Kratos should be very old, but because his father and mother are both angels, he has inherited some of their traits. Among them are the abilities to use light-oriented skills. When he was first born, he lived with Lloyd and Colette, but once he reached the age of 18, he decided to live with Lloyd’s adoptive father, Dirk, to learn more about being a craftsman. Since then, he has lived with Dirk in his workshop perfecting his craft. Although Dirk doesn’t have the strength he used to, he constantly provides Kratos with his wisdom and support.
Other Notes: Due to his heritage, there may be other angelic traits waiting under the surface.
Katrina Bryant Gender: Female
Race: Half-Elven Werefolk (Tiger)
Personality: Serious and observant, especially when it comes to her duties.
Bio: Regal's daughter by adoption. While checking a branch of his company out in Flanoir, he went out for a leisurely stroll one night only to chance upon a weretiger family of three almost completely murdered by a group of townspeople. Apparently, one of them was bitten and turned by the only child, who was acting out of self-defense. Not at all enthused with his current state, that townsperson thought that killing the source of the "curse" would rid him of it. Regal intervened before they could lay harm upon the child, and after scolding the group of townspeople, decided to take her in.
Other Notes: Her tiger form is simply that of a white tiger in appearance, though with a mane that resembles her hair and front paws that have retained the shape of functional hands.
Victor Sage Gender: Male
Age: 60, although he appears to be in his early twenties
Race: Human (1/4 Elf)
Personality: Confident and steadfast. Carries a little of his father's snark and is a little cocky.
Bio: The son of Genis and Presea. He became a revered lumberjack in the lumber industry like his mother when he was old enough, and now co-runs it with her. He also has a high reputation and influence on the town of Ozette. Though he is mostly human by blood, Presea's nature under the influence of her Exsphere coupled with the Elven roots of Genis' blood granted him slowed aging as well.
Other Notes: Easily ticked off by remarks about how his hair is such a girly color.
Christopher Wilder Gender: Male
(From here on, his details contain major spoilers. Read at your own risk.)
Race: Once fully Human, but is now a Yokai Hybrid
Weapon(s): Broadsword or Claws
Personality: Kindly, Timid, Insightful, Pacifist
Bio: One of Zelos' grandchildren, unlike most of the Wilder family Christopher was always more introverted and preferred to keep to himself; preferring to paint or draw than socialize. One day he and many other people were tricked and captured by scientists working for Midgard's army. They scientists ultimate goal being to "create the ultimate soldier" by splicing the subjects with Yokai DNA they hoped to use them to build up their forces to take over Aselia. Christopher was able to escape before they could perform the final experiments on him, he went into hiding terrified the scientists would find him again. Though not much of a fighter originally Christopher's new body has heightened his senses as well as his fighting ability; though he has always preferred not resorting to violence.

The Oleander Twins, Zaul and Azura Gender: Male and Female
Age: Age is a concept that no longer applies to them. Physically, they appear the equivalent of about 28 in human years.
Side: Pure Neutral...? Pretty much Neutral Good, actually. Weapon(s): None. At times, possibly whatever they can get their hands on.
Skills/Magic: None whatsoever. Due to...certain circumstances, they can no longer perform Artes. But they can still hold their own in pure hand-to-hand combat if need be.
Becoming omnipresent beings (which will be further explained in their Bio section) came with a catch. Nature chooses to recognize them as "dead", and dead beings can't utilize the life energy needed to fuel Artes independently.
Personality: Often bearing smiles that just might be smug, they both come off as easygoing. Though, Zaul tends to seem more serious than Azura, who shows a more playful side. They can be rather cryptic, appearing to know a lot of things our heroes don't (especially about what's going to happen next...), but choosing to withhold that information. They also appear to be quite affectionate with each other...
Bio: The aforementioned mysterious duo that sought the audience of the original heroes a century ago. These two can't really be properly explained without dropping the major spoilers surrounding them...
Zaul and Azura aren't really twins in the sense of biological brother and sister. Rather, they are genderbent versions of each other. The former is from Aselia while the latter is from Vanaheim.
Long story short, Zaul was of a secret guild called the League of Ethical Exsphere Testers, and his experimental Exsphere used to take the place of his right eye. Upon being found out by Lloyd, the guild reached a compromise with him—that for their leader, "The Doc", to continue his experimenting, he would never go public with his methods. After all, though ethical, there still was a risk of being misused.
Azura, who is of the present-time Vanaheim on the other hand, is of a clan of nobles. Actually growing bored with the comforts of such a life, she decided to leave her home for a life of adventure. She ended up becoming a soldier who worked under the Midgard resistance forces of Izumo. She too once lost an eye (her left) in a skirmish, and became outfitted with an Exsphere eye. The Exsphere came from a supply that some agents who scoped out Aselia in secrecy brought over. Azura willingly let herself become subject to an experiment involving hers, which used methods strikingly similar to The Doc's.
Azura was contacted by another underground organization of scientists from a bad future where Loki overthrew both the rulers of the countries and the Gods and is ruling over both Aselia and Vanaheim in vicious tyranny. So, suffice it to say, Azura was being guided by them to undo that future. They equipped her with the means to travel between both worlds without use of the Otherworldly Gate so that she wouldn't get caught too easily.
She was chosen specifically because she was observed to have "corresponding atoms" in Aselia—in the form of Zaul. In fact, it is that aspect that makes the devices work with her so easily.
Upon finding her male counterpart and cluing him in on the situation, he agreed to help almost without question. It helped that they formed a bond pretty shortly after meeting.
But somewhere down the line, the scientists of the bad future were found out by Loki, which led to the Oleander Twins' world-jumping devices becoming sabotaged. However, that actually worked out in their favor...the resulting accident caused the "threads" of their being to join the "fabric" of time and space. They have transcended its boundaries, as well as those of life and death. They are both dead and alive, everywhere and nowhere—that last bit meaning they are virtually omnipresent and can appear and disappear wherever and whenever they please.
That is also why they now have both their eyes. The loss of their lives renders them free of their Exspheres (which held their own lifeforces since they were never cultivated on another's), and the state they attained allows them to make modifications to their appearance. Their previous loss is symbolized by a scar over their respective regained eyes.
Using their newfound abilities to view all the lines of possibility leading up to the undoing of the bad future, they use their observations to guide our heroes. However, they cannot be entirely open with their knowledge because they've found that their direct interference results in unfavorable results, or even the annihilation of reality in the future by triggering a time paradox.
On the bright side, they truly don't have a lot to fear anymore. Their now paradoxical existences render them invulnerable and put them outside the grasp of even Loki's power. After all, you can't exactly kill what's already dead.
Other Notes: Both do indeed speak with a Southern American accent.
Character Name: Queen Laurel Von Babil
Personality: Calm, Caring, Serious
Bio: The former queen of the kingdom of Babil, she fled with her youngest child and a handful of survivors out of their kingdom before it was taken over. She is filled with grief over the loss of her husband and eldest son, but focuses on raising Julian; her youngest son.
Character Name: Prince Julian Von Babil
Personality: Cheerful, Naive, Playful
Bio: Kai's (Gabriel's) younger brother, he was very young when his mother and the few survivors escaped from Babil before it was taken over. Since their kingdom had fallen Julian was raised instead as a upperclass citizen instead of a prince, but he prefers to play with lowerclss children. He does not remember much about his brother since he was only 3 when he last saw him.
Other Notes: His pet Rappig's name is Diana.
