You know, I was thinking about how much my opinion on many members here has changed since I first met them and then I thought, "Well, why not make a thread about it?" So I did. This is pretty similar to A Soporific's "I have an IDEA!" thread, but more focused around first impressions.
Mitoguard When I first saw you posting a bunch and took note of you I honestly didn't think you'd stick around that much. Thank God you did though, ED-P needs more posters like you that stand their ground but aren't too stubborn to keep their ears open to any new ideas.
Angsty Shem Oh, Shem. I think I wanted to ring your neck in the very beginning (and sometimes I still do wink ) but once I warmed up to you and what not I really began to look out for your posts and, even if I don't agree with what you have to say all the time (though I find myself agreeing more and more), you definitely earned my respect.
Kazuma We have had our disagreements and run-ins but you're still one of my favorite posters and have been since I first came to Gaia. I think you know that I thought you were an excellent poster (and still do).
A Soporific Or "Mr. Economics" as I like to think of you, heh. Talk about someone who I really agree with on an almost regular basis, and pretty much have since I first ran into you. Besides well thought out and intelligent arguments, your avatar is super cool. You're another post I didn't really think I would see around that much, but woohoo that you did. My opinion has only gotten better of you.
Bolthorman "A real centrist? Yeah, riiight"
*eats her words*
Duchess Ilpalazza "Wow, she writes a lot."
That's it for now. Actually, time to add more.
Dakai I still don't know him all that well but I've always had a positive opinion of him and that hasn't changed (he also has eyes like Jared Leto's heart )
Danjel Yup, I didn't take much notice of him until my guild decided to make him the topic of every conversation. I guess you could say after hearing all of that I kind of got a slightly negative impression of him right off the bat but after reading his posts and getting a bit more of a feel for the kind of guy he was, I began to think all that hub-bub about him was crap. Lost my temper at him once and I still regret it because he really is not only a very dedicated (and fair, I might add) mod and great poster, but a nice guy.
Drakyn Okay, I'll admit at first I thought "Great, another Frankenhead" and maybe I was a bit harsh in our first enounter (....maybe. Sorry) but obviously I was wrong and enjoy his light-hearted posts as much as his serious ones.
Dreamwhisper Quickly took notice of her when she arrived on the ED-P scene. I still don't know much about her other than the fact that she goes totally out of her way to back up her arguments and I think she deserves the nickname "TEH LINKINATOR" or something to that effect.
Jyu I had no idea she was thirteen. No idea. I've always thought she was a sweet girl and think she adds a lot to ED-P with not just her posting but her attitude.
Damn, I'm eighteen and she's making me feel old.
Kurd Jam The first post I ever read was Kurd's. Something about...negative labeling of liberals or something. I don't even remember, but I posted something and existence was acknowledged when he quoted me and said something back. It was magical wink
Yeah, he's still an awesome guy as far as my experiences with him go.
Patton Patton's the man. He was always pretty nice and timid, but has since become much more in-your-face in his posts, but not to the point where you want to smack him. Patton's the man.
Sakurako-Sama Contrary to what I'm sure a few think I respect her a lot. At first, I'll admit, I didn't care to have any run-ins with her because I thought I might lose my temper, but I was being foolish. That "biting sarcasm", as many have put it, are what give her posts style and ED-P needs more dynamic personalities, etc. I guess we're still on very shaky ground but I hope to be able to work that out at some point.
TheTick900 Originally it was "oh, just that guy who makes ten topics at a time" buuut after getting used to that (I'm not sure why it even bugged me, really) I keep an eye out for them. Hey, I invited the guy here for a reason.
If you had asked me about half these people several months ago I probably would have a lot more negative comments, but truth be told, once I'm given time to try and better understand people I tend to warm up to them a bit more. That probably explains why most of these descriptions are positive overall.

Mitoguard
Mito was the first reg I encountered and I was suitably impressed. What I consider to be healthy attitudes on most issues and won't take any s**t. Update Mito is badass at ferreting out information and a stand up guy to boot.
Angsty Shem
I'm a foul mouthed contrarian following in the footsteps of several such individuals. I looked up to Shem almost immediately and still do. If anyone deserves the name I took on Gaia more than I do, it's him. Update No one deserves my name more than I. I'll still be buying Shem a pint if I find myself back in Texas though.
A Soporific
He's dangerously likable. He just projects this cool-guy image that seems to just trap you. I can't explain it so I try not to get too close to him. sweatdrop Update Haven't seen him in a while, but his teeth could use some sharpening.
Duchess Ilpalazza
I have to admit that I've been a Duchess fanboy since day one. heart Update Can't say much has changed.
Colonel Armstrong
I figured him for a hardass military type. I haven't been proven wrong yet, but disturbingly enough I find myself agreeing with him on more than a couple things. I still can't figure out why he has the fox tail though. Doesn't quite fit my image of him. Update Haven't run across him lately, can't remember what issues I agree with him on.
Sakurako-Sama
Bitingly saracastic in ways that I only am on my best days. I like to pick my EDP battles and if I ever come up against her, I'll be headed to AMC for the day, thanks. Update I can and have thrown down. Guess I'm alot more confident these days.
binarymike
Intelligent and a decent debater, but his ideological affiliation is still disquieting to me. I've backed him and his guild Voltaire style in debates before, but that doesn't mean I'm wholy comfortable with the idea.
NEW ADDITIONS
Wendigo Cool as a cucumber, sources well, oddball sense of humor.
Omnileech Couldn't figure him out for the life of me. I like him now though.
Kazuma At first I was wondering who the ******** Kazuma was (at the CRG). I've since learned. A true Japanophile, which creeps me the ******** out. Also relies on the Economist too much and defines the word smarmy.
German Bar Wench I didn't think I was supposed to take him seriously with a name like that and how he posted. I still don't, but for very different reasons.
Charley Badass, wasn't sure why I agreed with him so much because I didn't know what a libertarian was yet. I want him to come back.
BE At first I thought she was some kind of anti-matter me, like a right wing equivalent of my attitude and posting style, probably one of the only ones on my list that I remember the exact moment I first ran across her in the context of ED-P. I probably don't need to elaborate on my current opinion. ninja
Game Phreak Zero Seemed likeable enough at first, but opinion degraded rapidly.
Razak Windbag.
Undakai I figured him for a scrub at first, but an entertaining one. He's got the guts and smarts to debate well when he wants to.
Hyosho Damn that dry British wit. Makes me wish I'd been born where my roots lie, ie: Ireland.
Da Ish/Enlightenment I knew that we'd clash and clash repeatedly, but in a way mostly free of animosity. I wasn't disappointed.
SovietTankT34 A little too ideological for my taste. As for now? Whiny, hypocritical, self absorbed, actually talks s**t about me behind my back. A real winner.

Jyu: When I first Saw Her Posts, I was too Captivated by the Coconut Bra to Realize that she is one of the Smartest Liberals we have on this Site. She's Always Struck me as this Really Happy, Joyfully Psychotic Person
Shem: My First Impression of him is that of one of those Hard-Nosed Newpaper editors in the 20's, Chomping on a Cigar while saying "Hey Doll-face, Get Me the Story for Page 1"...... In his Stalwart Stance against the state of our Current Media...... This Analogy becomes more true every day
A Soporific: Damn...... He Is Just too Nice, Too Smart, and Too Collectible for his own good. He helped me realize that my Previous View that all Conservatives were Fanatical Bigots was a faulty one.
Mito: Proof that Liberals Have Balls...... Even if their Avatars don't have them. Is not one to Back down just to play the nice guy. the Beta Model for the Future Liberal
Dubyamn: I Desperately Wanted to Despise him when I first Met him...... But he had a Totoro Sig, and How can you hate someone with something that adoreable in his sig....... I'd like to say that his Excellent posting is Why I respect him; but It's Really Mostly that Sig
KiwiiHead:: Why Can't People Be Nice to the Poor Kid? My First Impression of him, Honestly, was that of a conservative I could debate for a quick ego boost, Eventually I saw that he was Rather Smart; just tainted by Partisan Politics..... Unlike Most Flamers, he Actually Accepted, Nay SEEKED Out advice for how to improve his posting...... If we all just give him a chance he could become another Liz or Kazuma
Dakai:: My First Impression of Dakai was of "OMGZ TEH AWESOME MOD IS TALKING TO ME!!!!! WTF!!? HE'S VOUCHING FOR ME IN THE LIBERAL GUILD!!!!" I Encountered Dakai just after he became a mod and would always search for his posts...... not really to read them, but because he was the only one I knew who had a WORKING Link to Our Old Bug Ridden Guild Thread
P1:: P1 first struck me as a Yoda-esque Wise man...... I Thought he was some Jaded, Elite Poster who was so Smart that he Realized he didn't need to type properly to Convey his points..... He Made Flame Clothes Work, and Could decipher the hidden Codes I put in my Posts
Danjel:: I Thank Danjel for Naming my Political Affiliation..... he's Always been Really cool despite constantly being harrassed by Everyone.....
Liz:: First Person I Met on ED-P...... Quickly put me through "Liz's School of Hard Knocks"(CopyRight Gertrude Bigg'um's; Some Snowy Mountain Somewhere) She Help me turn from a Frankenhead into someone with unique thoughts and opinions
Kurd Jam:: He kept switching Names and Avi...... I remember meeting him in our Emoting Thread...... He was God!
