Gay Lesbian and Straight Education Network. Its a good source for tips and facts to help improve schools.

Most college campuses in the Southern California area have LGBT centers, you can go there, they'll ask you what kind of group you'd like to join, and they can accommodate you in that way. Usually those centers also have more resources to offer you.
