Halfbreeds and Crossbreeds
What is a halfbreed?
A halfbreed is a Soquili with regular traits mixed with any other breed without regular traits. They possess some but not all of the characteristics of the non-regular breed. (example: A Uni with regular hooves and tail would be a halfbreed. A UniKalona with a regular tail and hooves is a Half-breed Hybrid) Power wise they are often indistinguishable from their pure blooded counterparts (though sometimes weaker) unless they lack the physical trait necessary for the ability - (i.e. an Angeni halfbreed with no wings wouldn't be able to fly, a Uni halfbreed with no horn can't heal.)
What is a crossbreed?
A crossbreed is a soquili possessing traits of at least two different non-regular breeds. (example: a uni/wind cross with wind wings and a uni tail is a crossbreed) Crossbreeds tend to have weaker versions of each breeds powers. There are some cases in which the blood does not mix well leaving the crossbreed powerless. In cases where a certain trait is required for an ability that trait must be present in order to use it. (example: a uni needs it’s horn to heal)
Non-visible traits in a crossbreed.
In some breeds there are traits that are not outwardly apparent such as a wind’s light bones. These traits may be passed down as the owner chooses. (examples: light bones from winged species or smaller bone structures from smaller breeds) However, if a flying breed mates with a grounded breed their bones will never be as light as a pure flying breed.
More than two breeds crossed in breedings.
When more than two breeds have been crossed through a breeding only take note of the visible traits on the soquili for powers. If a uni-kalona and flutter are crossed and the child takes on flutter wings and a kalona tail and horns it would not have any powers from its uni heritage.
Non-visible traits may still be passed down at the owner’s logical discretion.
