All growings will be posted in this forum. Each colorist has their own growing and drop-off thread that they will use. The shop no longer posts growings in the main thread. Know who colors your growing SoA so you know where to look to find it's growth! If you missed a growing and can't find it in your colorist's growing thread, or can't remember who the colorist is for your SoA, please visit the image request thread.

User ImageGrowing Information
  • Regular growing SoA have four stages: baby, juvenile, adolescent and adult.

  • Familiar growing SoA have two stages: baby and adult.

  • It takes 2 - 4 months for an SoA to grow from one stage to the next. This times varies from colorist to colorist and what time schedule they set their growings to; some use the minimum, some use the max, and some fall in the middle. How long it takes for an SoA to grow is entirely up to the colorist.

  • If an SoA takes longer than 4 months to grow, it is officially considered 'over due'. If it has been 5 months since your SoA last grew and you have proof, please contact Mkodi. Do not contact colorists directly about this.

  • All colorists are required to post and update their growth lists in this subforum. This is to help the colorists keep up with their work, allow Meep to keep track of what everyone is doing, and it has been made public so that everyone can see roughly when their SoA should grow. Just because you have access to this information does not mean you should be harassing the colorists about growing your SoA.

  • Growings may be put on hold by colorists at any time if you do not provide certing information.

Cert requests and drop-offs happen in this forum. Each colorist has a cert request thread of their own, along with a drop-off thread that may be combined with or separate from their growing thread depending on colorist preference.

Certs are important because they denote what pride or pack your SoA is in, what lines your SoA can breed on, as well as other information related to the SOA's pride or pack that might be important for roleplay.

User ImageGetting Your SoA Certed
  • To get your SoA certed, locate the cert request thread for the colorist of your SoA. On the front page of each of these threads there will be a form to fill out. Fill this out for your SoA, post it in that thread, and your colorist (or their certist) will cert your SoA for you as soon as they can.

  • If you do not fill out all the required information or fill out some of the information incorrectly in a cert request, your request will not be completed by the colorist/certist. Most of the time there will be a note left on your form if there is something wrong with it.

  • If you want to join a pride you must first get a joining RP. This is an RP that shows your character is either joining the pride for the first time or that they are an established member in the pride if you have created a custom with a backstory attached to a pride. Roleplay contests do not count as joining RPs and owners may not give people permission to 'opt out' of a joining RP. Some prides may require that joining RPs be done with the leaders of the pride while others may allow anyone to do them.

  • If the mother of a young litter is joining a pride, her joining RP may count for the litter as well as long as she at least mentions them in the RP. A litter is eligible if they are juvenile or younger.

  • Naming Rules: Names for SoA may not be anything in the English language, or words from other languages that have been 'Americanized'. This means that popular names in foreign languages are a no-go, even if they are not similar to English in nature. We are aware that some small words like 'No' are used in multiple languages, so if you provide proof that the word you want is actually from another language and means nothing similar to the definition used in English, we will allow it. In addition, you can twist the spelling of English or Americanized words around to fit shop requirements. Taking the name Rebecca and putting an apostrophe in it to make Re'becca will not work, but changing it to Ree'bekkuh would. (Names will be denied/approved at the discretion of colorists and/or shop owners.)

  • Each SoA has a set gen according to the shop's current generation as a whole, not the family's generation. Custom SoA are currently set to Gen-11 and SoA from breedings are currently set to Gen-13. No SoA will ever be set to generation one. If you custom the parent of a currently existing SoA, please notify your colorist so they can have their generation set before that of their existing son/daughter.

  • There is a one month wait between all pride cert changes. If you posted to have your SoA certed as a rogue on August 1st, you can't post to have your SoA certed as a Pridelander until September 1st. Please don't make any unnecessary cert requests!

  • Familiar Certs: Familiars are certed on their own certs by the colorist that colored them - those requests go in their threads. Familiars are certed on certs with regular SoA by the colorist that colored the regular SoA, because this is seen as an addition to the regular's cert.

  • NEW! Familiar Pride Certs: Familiars can now be certed on their own pride certs. Pride owner approval, JRP and/or proof of birth into a pride is required the same as for regular SoA. Information on this and what familiars are allowed in which prides can be found below.

  • Items, Edits and Certs: No one is required to give you a cert for the itemed version of your SoA. Colorists can refuse to give you updated certs for items or edits you received from other people. Usually the people that do the edits will provide you with a certed version, but they are not required to do so either. If someone chooses to offer this service, it is of their own free will. (If an SoA doesn't come with an unitemed version, such a special event SoA, the colorist will provide you with a cert.)

  • If an SoA is changing hands from one owner to another, the old owner has to post for the cert change. The new owner may not post for the cert because we need proof that the old owner has allowed this. If the old owner doesn't post, the SoA will not be recerted, and we will not allow it to change hands. (If the old owner can't post for some reason, please PM Mkodi to show another form of proof.)

The cert has a lot of information on it and the information for each pride/pack varies a little from cert to cert depending on the organization of the that pride/pack. Below are the cert for the Peke Na, a wild dog pack, and the familliar cert for the Pridelands, a lion pride, with a few alterations that allow us to demonstrate all the differences you might find on the certs in this shop.

User Image

1. Cert Background: Each cert has a cert background unique to its pride/pack, designed specifically for that pride/pack by the owners or someone they commissioned. No two backgrounds are the same. In addition, all certs also have their own color scheme.
2. Rank: Each pride/pack has a set of ranks that are featured on the cert. The only cert that does not have a rank is the default rogue cert.
3. Name: An SoA's official name goes at the top of this information column and is restricted to all of the rules in the above post.
4. *Alternate Name: Some prides have alternate names listed on their certs below the official name. These names can be any language, including English, and may be called by any title the pride wishes. (This spot is not restricted to names, but is the only thing it is currently used for.)
5. Owner: Below naming information is the SoA's owner. There is only ever one owner per SoA, as co-owning is not allowed, though multiple names may be on a cert if it is a twin or triplet cert featuring more than one SoA.
6. Parents: If an SoA has parents, they will be listed here. If an SoA does not have parents, this spot is filled with "? x ?" by default.
7. Familiar: Familiars are now listed at the bottom of the information column. Only their name goes in this spot, they no longer have their gender or species placed on the regular SoA's cert.
8. Gender: For gender, an SoA gets a male or female symbol.
9. Pride Symbol: Each pride/pack gets its own unique symbol made specifically for that pride. Some prides may have multiple symbols if they are organized into smaller groups within the pride.
10. Generation: Each SoA gets a generation number. SoA from breedings have higher generation numbers than custom SoA, but none of them will be set to '1'. The generation of the SoA is dependent on the shop's overall generation, not the generation of specific families.
11. *Clan: Not all prides have clans, but those that do will often have these listed below the Shadows of Africa banner at the bottom of the cert.

(* denotes information that may not be on all certs.)

In addition, all certs also have their own color scheme. Each pride's background and color scheme are used for their familiar certs.
2. Name: An familiar's official name goes at the top of this information column and is restricted to all of the rules in the above post. No space for an alternate name is given.
3. Owner: Below naming information is the SoA's owner. There is only ever one owner per SoA, as co-owning is not allowed. Twin certs are never done for familiars as there is not enough room on these small certs.
4. Gender: For gender, familiars get male or female written under this heading.
5. Parents: If an SoA has parents, they will be listed here. If an SoA does not have parents, this spot is filled with "? x ?" by default.

EXTRA: Familiar certs do not come with pride symbols, generations, ranks, or clans. No exceptions, sorry!
