A Brief History of Our Guild

The Yaoi Guild began in the early years of Gaiaonline. It is believed to have started as a thread in the Guild Forum section of Go-Gaia.com,

which was recreated numerous times as members came and went. It was not, however, until July 22, 2004 that Gaia had released a system where Members could Purchase their own forum on the Site. These forums became known as Gaia Guild Network (GGN), and later referred to as simply Guilds. The old Yaoi Guild Thread then migrated to the new GGN Version, and so began this very Guild. Since then, we have had the same Captain for 5 years, and only one Prior to him. In these six years, The Yaoi Guild has grown to a community of over 30,000 members and approximately 1.5 million post. Since its conception, this Guild has been a strong proponent of being as you are. One of the early founders of the Guild had said that this Guild was here so that anyone of any, race, gender, sexuality, beliefs, alignment, intelligence, or interest could find a place to call their own, where they would not be judged by their past, but valued as they are. We have kept to that for many years, and hope to continue doing so with all our members. We are grateful for the time allowed to us, and wish all beings who dwell, and pass, here well.

General Rules

These Rules are in affect through out the Entirety of the Guild. Additional Rules are below General Rules.
These additional rules may be different in different Subforums. Please check them.
Each Forum has it's own rule thread with it's own rules, in addition to the following.

• All of Gaia Terms of Service & Rules and Guidelines are enforced.
  
  
• When posting, try to avoid Quote Towers (excessive quoting in one post).
  
  
• Request/granting links and/or pictures of adult and/or PG13+ content is against Gaia TOS and RAG; any user found doing so will be banned at the discretion of Guild Crew.
  
  
• Request/Granting links to sites that provide unauthorized distribution of copyrighted material is against Gaia TOS and RAG. This includes but is not limited to audio files, scanlations, games, written works, etc.; any user found doing so will be banned at the discretion of Guild Crew.
  
  
• Discussions may get heated at times, if you find yourself in a situation in which you become offended, annoyed, or disturbed with a topic/post please avoid contact with the thread and user and Report to one of the Crew Members, and the issue will be dealt with.
  
  
• Post at your own risk; users will be held accountable for their own post and threads and while we have general rules to prevent harassment and problems within the Guild, we do not promise all discussions to be fair and/or clean.
  
  
• Be respectful to other members and crew. No one should be a victim of abuse because of their status (New Member, Old Member, Crew, ViceCaptain, Captain).
  
  
• At any time your thread may be considered spam or 'unfit' for the forum it is in, and may be moved to a different location of the Guild and/or deleted.
  
  
• The Yaoi Guild cannot endorse other Guilds as we have no control over their content, nor can we ensure their views reflect our own; Advertising is not allowed. However, you are Welcome to Link to us.
  
  
• User contests may be held in Home Threads [located in The Hoodlums] and User Art Threads [located in the Studio]. These contests may not be promoted as a Yaoi Guild contest. The thread owner is in charge of the contest and will be held liable for all claims made, including but not limited to gifts, prizes, or any exchanges. The Event may not ask for donations within the Guild. To read more about this, check out Member Contest, Liability, and Works post in each Rule thread.
  
  
• Free Grant Links are not allowed to be shared anywhere on Gaia. Please do not list them or post direct links to them.

In Addition to Guild General Rules, in the Main Forum:

• You are NOT allowed to Ban Members From Posting in your Thread
  
  
• You are NOT Allowed to set up your own Rules in threads you create. If there is a rule that that you would like to have enforced please post it in the FeedBack Thread.
  
  
• You are asked to Name your thread something sensible and related to the Topic being discussed
  
  
• Thread necromancy (when a really old thread is posted in) and double posting is allowed. However, if the thread is years old it is suggested you start a new one, it is not mandatory though.

The Main Forum

The Main forum is mostly comprised of Yaoi Topic threads. These topics are General and Merit in-depth Discussion.
Apart from Administrative Threads, these are the only threads allow in the Main Forum.
The following are a few things you will find here.If you are a new member, visit these in order:

1. The Yaoi Guild Rules and Regulations - You are here! Read first!
   
   
2. Introduction Thread - Let us know who you are! What do you like? Why are you here? Just give us a rant about yourself. It can be as much, or as little, as you want! Just talk!
   
   
3. The Blah Blah Thread - A thread as a old as time~ And by that we mean as old as the Guild. This thread was one of the first threads made in The Yaoi Guild and continues to hold all sorts of discussion. It is, in essence, our Central Forum. All members are welcome, and all topics are welcome. Whenever, whatever! New Members hang out here and ask about the Guild if they need help.
   
   
4. QFOS - Questions? Feedback? Opinions? Suggestions? Couldn't find what you were looking for and want to talk to the Administrators? Post here!
   
   
5. Banners - Show everyone your true colours! Support the Guild by putting Banners in your signature linking back to the Guild. It's a great way to show others your support, and helps us find new members!
   
   
6. Forum - And now you are ready to explore the rest of the Forum! Check out some threads, or visit some Sub Forums and see what they are about. Continue on below to read more about the Guild, Rules and posting throughout the Guild. You'll also find some helpful links to places in and out of Gaia.

The SubForums
Subforums are just a sub section to the Guild that fills a specific purpose. Most of these are available to the public and are used to keep the Guild in order. The following is an explanation of each.

Yaoi Roleplaying - This section is for all members of any writing skill to come together and roleplay different stories and events. It is, in essence, our own Barton Town Roleplaying Forum. Simply put, come and play!

Yaoi Gallery - Here we have a collection of 'Albums' from different Anime Series'. Threads are entirely made up of Pictures, and there is even a chat thread where members are encouraged to talk about different pictures they find. Don't see a series you like? Check out the Contents Page, and if you still can't find it, post a request for the series in the Request Thread.

Yaoi Outreach - Our newest Forum. This forum holds many of our G(ay)Bi(sexual)T(ransgender)S(traight) Male Interests threads.

Yaoi Alley - A place to post about your favourite series or post series/character specific threads. This is almost an entire free for all, the only thing we ask is, Make It Yaoi!

Yaoi Studio - A collection of Member Works and Events. Here we hold different Member Events and encourage Members to set up all sorts of threads that involve their personal creativity and showcase their work.

Archive - Old announcements, memorable threads, and retired homes. Anything from our past that we enjoy looking back to.

Mod Forum - Secret Lair currently, the Admins plan events here, keep important information, and work to make The Yaoi Guild a better place.

Hoodlums - Our Guild Town! Home threads have been around since the early days of The Yaoi Guild, and they are all located here. To find out more about them, visit this SubForum. Other things that are located here are our Global Calendar, Member Announcements, Birthdays, and anything Member Oriented that has no other forum.

• Member Created Contest can not be promoted as The Yaoi Guild sponsored Contest
  
• Member Created Contest may not ask for donations anywhere within The Yaoi Guild or YG Sponsored Thread.
  
• Thread Creators of Member Created Contest Thread will be held liable for all promises, exchanges, offers, and statements claimed by said Contest
  
• Member Works Submitted to The Yaoi Guild as means of contest become the property of The Yaoi Guild, this includes creative ownership and material ownership. The Yaoi Guild may edit, redistribute, or claim anything about said works.
  
• These terms may change at any time without notice, by being a member of The Yaoi Guild, you agree to abide by these terms and any changes to them.

Home Threads
~The Yaoi Neighbourhood. A Home for all Hoodlums~

This subforum functions as the 'neighbourhood' for members of the Yaoi Guild; it is designed to be a light-hearted place for discussion amongst the guild community about all the different things that pop into our heads.

Here you will find our 'house-threads', which are the personal threads of any member who wants to create one. The owner of the home thread and members posting in it are allowed to do as they wish, so long as they abide by GAIA ToS and RaG. Home thread topics may include or exclude Yaoi; they may deal with anything that the member wishes. The may also have Rules that the Home Owner wishes, these rules should be respected.

Donations and Funding

The Yaoi Guild is a Non-Profit Organization. All funds, goods, and services donated to the Guild are used to fund events and services for The Yaoi Guild. There are two ways to donate to the Guild. One goes directly into the Guild, which is permanent and inaccessible to use other than to buy sub-forums which will not happen in the near future. And the second, preferred, way is to donate to the Guild Bank Ginkou.

Ginkou is able to trade out Items and Gold to the community and is the best way to help fund our events and services.

We would like to take this time to thank all individuals and groups who have donated to The Yaoi Guild,
it is deeply appreciated and we hope to continue to provide a great place for members to enjoy.

Deletion, Warning, and Banning Policy

• Post will be deleted at the discretion of the Crew, and may be with out notice. If your post has been deleted, it is because it has been deemed unfit for the thread it is in or because it breaks a Guild/Gaia Rule. If you feel that your post has been wrongfully deleted, please contact YamiKreuz.
  
  
• Threads are not deleted right away. They are reviewed and then deleted. There is a small window of time in which your thread may be retrieved, this is not a promise however. If you see that your thread is missing Private Message a Crew Member and s/he will help you with the issue.
  
  
• A warning may be issued for a Minor Breach in Guild and/or Gaia TOS and/or RAG. Minor as defined by the Crew Member taking care of the issue. If you have any issues with decision by the Crew, please contact YamiKreuz.
  
  
• A Major Breach of Gaia and/or Guild TOS and/or RAG may result in a banning of parties involved at any time at discretion of Crew. A Crew Member may PM and warn you prior to any banning, but this should not be expected. If you feel that you have been wrongfully banned, please contact YamiKreuz.
