User ImageA swift wind blew through the forested area of the Imperial lands. It gave little company to an abandon temple before it died down to leave the evening silent once more. This temple had already been cleared out from tip to base than left to collect dust.

By this era it had already collected enough dust to coat the stones in a light gray layer making them appear brighter than they actually were. It had been used as a base in the early years of the Republic and Imperial wars, but has since had no more guests. That is, Until today.

The once silent halls echoed with the sound of steel as Nick moved through the deep halls. With every step the halls grew darker and darker. All the electricity to this place had stopped flowing a little over a year ago. The only light she had to guide her was the red from her mechanical eye, which seemed little, but in fact did a great deal for her vision.

The mission was, for the most part, pretty dull... it would have been nice to have a little company this time around. Though the only company the Judge could offer would be fairly unpleasant.

A sigh left her lips as the hallway turned into a large room. It was partially submerged into the earth. The small window holes at the top of the room have that away. She could see some of the grass growing through them.

As Nick looked over the room she was reminded of the night she received Kagi, and lost all credibility with the Imperial army. How ironic her mission lead her to their territory. Even after a year they were still determined for her capture.

Nick chuckled at the thought. They would never get their hand on her. From what she had heard they were also blaming her for the death of Titus, the former Imperial Fenrir Experiment and special Ops. Officer sent to kill her over a year ago. If only they knew Titus was now like a sister to Nick. She must be doing well if the imperial army thought her dead.

At least she wouldn't be perused...

The thought filled Nick's heart with sorrow. She thought of Titus all the time, and it still was hard to swallow that she could never be allowed to see her 'sister' again... but... at least... at least Titus was safe.

There had been some reports of strange things around one of the old abandoned bases from long ago. There weren't many consistent things about these rumors aside from the general location, but seeing how the area was supposed to be deserted, it was worth investigating in the least.

Shun had been the one sent out to check it out. Most likely, whatever it was, it wasn't anything serious. Because of this, the cadet felt like he was being sent chasing ghosts or something along those lines and he didn't appreciate it all too much.

Sensing the irritation, Bent-Tail chittered softly and nosed the guy gently. Quite frankly, the organoid didn't mind the excursion. For him, it meant getting out and seeing more of the world, even if it was just a dusty old base the army no longer used.

"Still no signs of anything..." he whispered to himself. The sensors weren't picking up on anything, and his original thoughts that nothing was even around were seeming to be true. Well if that was the case then it likely meant they could go home early once they finish looking around the base for any signs of recent activity.

The base in question was within his line of sight now, and as far as he could tell, there was nothing around that indicated that anyone had been remotely near the building for quite some time. At least it was a relatively interesting sight to behold. Enough that made the rat perk up a little to try and get a better view of the surrounding area.

Nick placed her right hand on the wall and begun to walk the perimeter of the room. Sparks shot from the wall once the harp metallic claws dug in and begun to move along its stony side. The sound that followed the sparks was a level above teeth chattering and no doubt carried through the small windows of the large room to the forest outside. Nick was already used to the sound... and oddly it never really affected the creator as it did the hearer.

It was an odd instruction, but it payed off when her claws suddenly caught something. "Hmmm..." She hummed. A hidden door... It had been sealed away and made to appear like another rock. The illusion worked perfectly, the rooms just beyond it had been untouched MUCH longer than the rest of the temple.

With a grin she took her claws and dug it hard into the rock and begun to pull it until there was a wide enough crack she could get a better grip and force the door open more. Dust crumbled from the door as it slowly opened. The loud sound of rock grinding rock also carried outside of the small windows in the room, adding to the odd disturbance of silence in the forest.

The saber fang came to a halt near the old and worn structure. The cockpit then opened and both pilot and organoid hopped on out. For now, the plan was just to do a quick run through the temple before heading back out so he could go file the report. But soon after he had landed onto the dirt, a loud grinding noise broke the silence of the night.

Shun's eyes narrowed at the sound, which had come straight from the temple's interior. Was it just some 'tomb-raider'? Or something more? Either way it was his job to check it out.

"We've lucked out Bent... maybe there's something worth investigating after all," he said quietly to the metallic rat.

Bent-Tail tilted his head, then nodded at the thought. Either way, it was going to be an adventure! Which he didn't mind so much.

For now, Shun kept his weapons sheathed as he found no need to have anything drawn. Instead, he just grabbed his light and headed on into the old base with his organoid following closely behind. The weapons may have been put away, but he was still fairly wary of whoever might be around.

Entering the dusty place made him think of all the old legends and stories of the war he had heard while growing up, even if it really hadn't been so many years since it ended. It made him think of what the place might have been like years ago when it was still in use.

Nick had finally managed to move the door open just as Shun and his Organoid entered the temple. The loud rumble of the door had blocked out the sound of the approaching ZOID, so for now, he was unnoticed by the former Imperial officer.

Nick slipped through the door and begun her search of the even MORE dusty area. There were so many runes on the wall, and strange tools used by the ancients just scattered about the floor. Most of them looked as if they would crumble at the mere touch. In fact some did as Nick passed by them. This long hall was far narrower than the last, it was meant for one person at a time. Must have been that way for defensive purposes. Enemies were forced single file here...

It also seemed as though there was a slight incline, it was going deeper into the earth.

Shon, if looking carefully, would be able to see the signs of someone here very recently. The dust was disturbed in several places where Nick had walked and even on the wall where She brushed it aside to get a better look at a picture. The large room she had been in there was the obvious fresh scratch running from the entrance of the room all the way to the other side where the new pathway was opened. A fresh pile of dirt and dust lined the front of the door revealing it to be newly opened.

A thick layer of dust seemed to cover all corners of the building. In the darkness, Shun carefully scanned the place, slowly waving the flashlight here and there to get a good look. The rat, too, was sniffing around for anything out of place.

At some point, the beam of light landed on one patch of area where the dust had been disturbed and before long, he managed to spot other such signs. If the loud grinding he had heard upon his arrival wasn't enough, these proved that someone had been here recently.

Quietly, he examined the patches of missing dust. It seemed the party in question was a loner. At least, that's what he managed to gather for now. He supposed there may be others, but the signs didn't point to that possibility so much. Carefully, he went to follow the signs until he had found the recently opened door.

Here, Bent-Tail was starting to get fairly curious on who might be inhabiting the building as well. Maybe by some off chance, it would be a friendly person. He usually enjoyed meeting new people, after all. But it probably wasn't going to be the case here. After looking up at the human, he went on and pattered into the hall, taking note of the runes that lined the wall. The organoid couldn't help but wonder if any of the ancient organoids had ever been through here..

Figuring that this must have been the source of the grinding earlier, Shun thought it wouldn't be too long before they found the mystery person. Eyes narrowed at the thought, he went on in.

Nick turned into another large room that first branched from the hallway. There were a few broken capsules in the back corners of the room. It looked as if they had been open for quite some time. The technology used on them was strange, somewhat similar to the kind Dr. Fox used... but she could spot the major differences in the design.

Nick removed her cloak and let it drop to the floor. The cloth was starting to irritate her right side where the metal plates met with the skin. There was no one here to bug her, and very unlikely that anyone would be here for anything. The imperials had thought they found everything in this place... so there was no need for further pointless investigations. The cloak was unnecessary at the moment.

The thought came to soon, however. Just as Nick begun to walk toward the pods to investigate she saw the flicker of the Imperial soldier's light in the hall. Her right eye's glow brightened as her eyes widened. Crap... How the heck did he manage to slip past her noticing? From the sound of the steps she had little time to move across the room to grab her cloak and hide... or even just hide. She made a quick grab for one of the throwing knifes. If need be, perhaps she could catch him off guard.

The dead silence of the building was rather eerie. Enough that he had to wonder if anything would suddenly be jumping out of him in the darkness. Though, as long as he kept the trail footprints in the dust within his sight, there should be no surprises. At least, that's what he hoped.

So far, that was all he saw. Though, he paused as he could have sworn he heard something rustle in the area. It was so faint that he wasn't sure if it was his mind playing tricks on him or what. People did have a tendency to hear things in the dark after all.

But at the same time, maybe it was good to take some precautions. The cadet motioned to Bent-Tail to be careful as he drew out his pistole with his free hand.

Up ahead, he saw the trail turn into some room. How much further could the mystery person be? And what exactly were they doing around here anyway? These questions circled his mind as he neared the entrance of the room.

Nick tensed as she saw the shadows of the soldier and his organoid. At this point she longed for her blood thirsty metallic friend to be present... Kagi would have kept her quite safe.

The thought of calling the black fog crossed her mind briefly, but she quickly dismissed the idea for the moment. That would be a 'no escape' option. It was more costly to use it than she would have liked. And that 'things' presence was less welcome than the soldier.

Slowly Nick moved sideways so that she could angle herself away from the door. This way the 'intruder' could have to move in the room to get a good shot. With the glow in her eye, and dim glow in her right shoulder joint, the shadows would do little to hide her, so she had to rely on speed this time. Perhaps he would just leave? Hopeful, yet doubtful.

The palm on her right hand begun to glow as the heat intensified. Not as hot as usual, but hot enough to warm the knife between her between thumb and index finger.

Coming up to the room, Shun caught sight of a soft glow coming from within. It seemed the the culprit was in there after all. Likely, unless the stranger was busy with something, they would have noticed his flashlight's beam by now. He would have to be careful, especially if the person is question happened to be a dangerous one.

For all he knew, it could be some bum though, but he wasn't hoping for anyone in particular.

Pausing at the edge of the door, he took in a deep breath before stepping out and aiming into the room. His organoid too, peeked in around his legs to see what was inside. At first, he saw nothing, but the corner of his eye caught the source of the glow.

The look of surprise quickly turned into a frown as Nick got a good look at who the 'intruder' was. An imperial soldier.... The heat in her hand had grown hotter with her shift in temper and thus caused the blade to melt slightly rendering it ineffective as a throwing knife.

Her hand lowered. Despite her rage toward the Empire she noticed that this soldier was quite young... And she couldn't bring herself willingly to kill a young soldier without more cause.

"What busyness do you have here boy..." Nick growled.

Since her days in the military he had changed a great deal mentally and physically. For one the stress the Judge put on her had caused her once blond hair to turn completely white. Scars were also a big factor along with the new visible metallic limb. The right side of her body was covered in scars and wires and plates, she looked half organoid. From her torso up there were plates that covered the exact point where skin became metal. The skin around those points were red and purple with long scars that wrapped around her belly.

The right side of her face was more scarred than the rest of her body. Even through all the scars one stood out more than the others. A large cross over her strange right eye. The tip of the horizontal line went clear across her face.

The right eyes details were hidden mostly by the red glow it gave off. The sclera was pitch black and lined with very tiny wires that ran from the crimson iris to the edge of the eye. It was hard to tell what shape the pupil was without being too close... but even from that distance one could see it was more oval than a normal eye, perhaps slitted like a serpent.

No doubt he had heard of her 'deed' she hadn't committed and there was also no doubt that he knew of the great bounty she was worth. Nick could only hope that he would not recognize who she was with her altered appearance.

Shifting into the room, and quickly turning towards the source of the glow, Shun was rather surprised with what he saw. The woman before him looked to be some sort of cyborg, with a metallic limb and wires and plates all along the right side of her body. She also had a multitude of scars. Never before had he seen anyone like her, and he couldn't help but wonder what had caused her to be like this. The first thing that came to mind was that Dr. Fox had worked with her but he wasn't even certain of that.

There was also something unsettlingly familiar about the woman, but for now he couldn't quite put a finger on what it was. It wasn't exactly a good sense, however.

"There have been some reports of strange activity in the area so I came to investigate," he replied lowly, keeping his gun ready in the case she turned out to be hostile. Shun noted the warped blade in her hand, signalling she was armed as well.

"And what of you? There shouldn't be anything left in this place."

Bent-Tail stared ahead at the partially bionic woman. As with the pilot, he felt somewhat wary of her. So while he would normally go and see what she was like, he decided to keep by Shun's side for now.

Steam hissed from her arm's vents as the palm cooled down. Nothing in Dr. Fox's power could create such an odd construct. The forces behind this appearance were more ancient than even the Ancient organoids.

With a flick of her wrist the warped blade was sent to the dusty floor. From what Shun could see she still had an array of weapons on her belt to take out an army, figuratively speaking.

Nick cautiously made her way over to her cloak still piled on the floor, keeping a watchful eye on the soldier and his organoid. She had never seen on organoid like that before... no doubt a Dr. Fox invention, and no doubt protective of its master. Nick was aware of what Organoids could do, even though this one was not an ancient it probably could still pack a bit of a punch.

"Shouldn't believe everything they tell you." She frowned.

The knife went to the ground, but she still had plenty of weapons on her person, which was far more than the average man or woman would normally carry. Then again, she was already 'beyond the average' most likely considering her appearance.

Keeping his eyes and his gun trained on the mysterious woman, Shun watched her make her way to the fallen cloak. It appeared to be a normal cloak, so hopefully he shouldn't have to worry about any sudden surprises there. Either way, he was going to need to be cautious around this one. It really didn't help that he couldn't get rid of the nagging feeling of familiarity about her. It started to irritate him some really.

"That didn't answer my question. What are you doing here?" he repeated.

The organoid looked between the stranger and his human before settling on the woman ahead. A few soft metallic squeaks escaped him as he watched her.

Nick scooped the cloak up and tossed it over her right shoulder. Though she hated the damn thing it felt more comfortable to 'hide' her metallic side. She only cared to cover the arm this time so the Soldier could still see at least half of her weapons and her left arm. There was no point in fully covering up and having this soldier become more suspicious than he already was.

"Searching... my family was stationed here a long time ago. Figured there would be something to remember them by here." She spoke after her right side was covered up.

With the situation it would be most unwise to tell him it was none of his busyness, though it was not.

"Last I checked this place wasn't closed to civilians." She was quite relaxed for the circumstances. Her tone was calm, but still cold and harsh. This one obviously was not a people person.
